So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

B - Fage 5% Greek Yogurt
L - Chicken Salad with cheese
D - Bacon and mushroom omelette

Snacks - boiled eggs
Mature cheese with marmite on !! Instead of the normal crackers I would have !!!

Almahart · 14/05/2019 23:13

I ms it possible to overeat at this stage if BC?! I can’t remember but I have eaten tons of cheese today and was eating when really not hungry

I think on previous BCs I have got confused about eating enough fat and eating too much. Should I be trying to reign in what I eat or just go with it?

BIWI · 14/05/2019 23:15

@Almahart - if you're hungry, then eat. This isn't a WOE that's about deprivation! That said, make sure what you're eating is low carb - but more importantly, ask yourself if you're really hungry or if you're eating out of habit, or for emotional comfort.

Hi can I join?
I lost 3 stone on the Cambridge diet last year but bad habits are back and I've gained a stone, sugar is my nemesis and I need to be strict so this plan sounds perfect.

mrwalkensir · 14/05/2019 23:31

Evening all xx Today have got through three eggs, two slices of ham (left over in fridge), stir fry leeks, cabbage and courgette. Dollop of coleslaw and fried chicken breast with shirataki noodles (still not sure about them...but passable with soy sauce). Looking through the posts and getting excited about tasty food !

ChippingInLowCarbing · 15/05/2019 00:07

Gertie welcome 😊

Do you want to be on the spreadsheet? It’s totally up to you. It just tracks most people’s weights so they feel accountable or can just see how far they’ve come weight wise. It can be motivating for others. I’m not on it this time because I’m trying not to focus on the weight aspect of it and I can’t use the App so it’s a faff. If you do want to be on it just say and you’ll get added. You can put your actual weight or just 100 if you don’t want to.

Have you read the rules yet?

Might pay to read them twice as it’s a lot to take in and different to other low carb diets/woe.

Ask away if you have any questions

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/05/2019 01:48

Wasn't there a painkiller that's not good for keto? Which one is it?

WheelyCote · 15/05/2019 06:16

B: soft boiled eggs mushed with butter and black coffee

SittingontheSidelines · 15/05/2019 06:43

@WheelyCote ha. I had an interesting picture in my head for a moment before realising the eggs were not mushed in the coffee.

Slacksandblouse · 15/05/2019 06:49

I hope you don’t mind I am tagging along without going on the spreadsheet. I want to join in :) excited.

MasterFlamingo · 15/05/2019 07:00

I've been wondering about that question too MrsTerryPratchett I've taken quite a few paracetamol in the last few days to cope with carbyflu headaches... presume this is okay?

I also wondered if herbal tea counts towards your water intake?

Off for breakfast - avocados ahoy!

SittingontheSidelines · 15/05/2019 07:15

Hi @MasterFlamingo I asked that question up thread only it was herbal and black tea (no milk) BIWI's answer was tea does count, but be aware of caffeine, and plain water is best so have that too.

Youwanapizzame · 15/05/2019 07:16

Just checking in.

B sausage and bacon
L salad with chicken and avocado
D more cheesy fish and prawn pie

Have a good day all

ChippingInLowCarbing · 15/05/2019 07:32

slacksandblouse. Welcome 🥗

It’s no problem not being on the spreadsheet if you don’t want to be, but our lovely AthelstaneTheUnready will add you if you want to be added.

All you have to do is read the rules and you’re good to go! 😊

MasterFlamingo · 15/05/2019 07:36

Ooh thanks Sitting. I have RTFT but there's so much to take it I must have missed it.

I'm definitely prioritising plain water but I am mixing it up with the odd cup of herbal. I may try the herbal tea bag in bottled water as described by StuntNun

Good tips - thank you all.

Bloodybigbabybelly · 15/05/2019 07:37

@MrsTerryPratchett probably a bit late but I am sure it's Ibuprofen Smile

ChippingInLowCarbing · 15/05/2019 07:42

probably a bit late but I am sure it's Ibuprofen

It’ll be a shame if it is because I’m main lining them for my knee & toothache 😖

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 15/05/2019 07:47

Anyone know if that's the case for other anti-inflammatories? Currently taking Naproxen for a bad back.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 15/05/2019 07:51

Greebols. I can never remember which ones do & don’t, I rarely take any painkillers or anti i’s so I don’t really worry about it. But I’ll go and see what info I can find. I should try something else if it is anti i’s. BRB

Almahart · 15/05/2019 07:52

Thank you BIWI

I’m a pound down and less bloated so that’s good.

Today’s food will be ham and Boursin wraps; chicken ramen with bare noodles and hm burger with coleslaw Smile

I’m going to keep going until I reach my target weight of 10’7

I do find bc v restrictive but I feel anxious about the thought of feeling hungry and not ‘able’ to eat so I always come back to it

Nyon · 15/05/2019 08:00

Missed posting yesterday so yday menu:
B: Greek yogurt with cream
L: ham and cheese (grabbed v quickly at supermarket and no veg. Annoying)
D: cheesy mince and spinach.
And I didn’t manage to drink enough water. So a shite day and I shouldn’t be upset to see a pound increase on the scales but I really am

So today.
B: baked eggs
L: pork, colesaw and spinach
D: beef kebabs, roasted broccoli and leeks

VeryLittleOwl · 15/05/2019 08:03

Morning, can I sneak in and sit at the back? Low carbing has worked really well for me in the past, but I need a kick up the backside to get back on the horse as I haven't done it properly for about five years and now have 31lbs to lose.

My nemesis is sugar. I'm two days clean at the moment and not suffering too badly (amazing after what I ate over the weekend when I was away visiting family!) but I'm prone to falling into the bakery section at Tesco and picking up a bag of fresh cookies to eat on the drive home (it's a 50-mile round trip). Can't avoid walking through the bakery because the reason I'm usually in there is to buy the welcome pack for holiday cottage guests and that includes bread. The other pinch point is the batch of homemade cookies I bake for guests as well, there's usually a bit of the mix left over for bowl scraping. I managed to get through the bakery sans cookies yesterday, so I'm optimistic I'll be able to throw out any remaining cookie mix when I make them for today's guests later this morning!

Rshard · 15/05/2019 08:08

Welcome aboard verylittleowl

I also forgot to log yesterday’s food which was
B - scrambled eggs salmon avo
L - pret crayfish salad - thanks BIWI for the recommendation!
D - salad halloumi mayo

Had to go for two wees during a 2 hour meeting yesterday- oops!

Someone mentioned lots of extra energy - me too. Went for a run this morning while dd was swimming - haven’t done that since last summer, when I was really into this woe...... feel great now and ready for the day ahead!

felippertyfeck · 15/05/2019 08:20

Yes @biwi going to get my arse in gear today! What a weird one especially as I can only be described as a truffle hunter, how food went on back burner I do not know! Starving this morning!! And spent most of night weeing for England. Body not used to all this water 💦 . Go day three all!!

WineIsMyCarb · 15/05/2019 08:25

Joining a couple of days late but I'm totally in. Want to lose a stone and a half but that's a guess as haven't weighed in yet. Off to do so now...
