Week 7 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Girding our loins and getting a grip

BIWI · 25/02/2019 08:51

Morning all

Having a bit of a snigger to myself, because autocorrect wanted me to tile the thread 'Girding our doings ...' Grin

Here's the spreadsheet

We only have four weeks left. I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun?!

There's been a bit of slippage going on, I notice - and whilst it's not all been of our own doing, sometimes it's about situations where we've reverted to 'learnt' behaviour or type.

So. Let's all pull our socks up! We have only four weeks left, but those weeks could make all the difference.

If you're worried about how the next few weeks are going to go, perhaps a return to Bootcamp rather than Bootcamp Light might help?

Whatever strategy you adopt, here's wishing us all very good luck

Sazz was that 20,000 steps in one day? Good lord!

ShagMeRiggins · 26/02/2019 16:31

Sorry, meant 30,000. Even more impressive!

MiniCooperLover · 26/02/2019 16:36

A run is a run BIWI, well done !!! I'm a v slow runner and am going out with my running club tonight but I don't think any of the slow runners are going so I'll be watching the behinds of all our fast runners heading into the distance 😂🏃‍♀️

BIWI · 26/02/2019 16:43

I wish I could claim those 30,000 steps!

Yes, you're right, a run is a run. And I know I can a) run for longer and b) run faster. It's all about just going out and doing it!

I wish I could say that my sleep is getting better, but it's still very varied. I think it's worse when I know I have to get up for something. Anyway, even if I'm not sleeping well, at least I'm comfortable on the new mattress. Grin

What is this chicken Alfredo of which you all speak? Smile

I had a tuna mayo lo-dough wrap earlier. Still pretty full. Was planning on a pork chop and veg for dinner but will see how I feel.

6k v slow run done. Off rowing too shortly. A beautiful day! Job offer in the bag and I feel everything is possible!!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 26/02/2019 17:35

Congratulations on the job, Babe! Flowers Star Grin

30k steps Sazz wow
Well done on the run BIWI I loathe all running apart from a sprint so I know how hard it is

Today is the hardest day so far for me. Got some sort of virus, been brewing since last week. Due to this, meat is the LAST thing I fancy and I’ve got a vile mouth taste (dehydration I think). Added to that, DH has just said he’s going to eat garlic bread😭. I said fine but I’m going upstairs when u do

I'm about to go off piste and drink rather a lot of vodka and soda. My best friend has just been told they have stage 4 kidney cancer. Literally from nothing other than peeing blood a few weeks ago to this. We were prepared for it to be cancer, possibly early stages but not this far advanced.

I can't face food but I really but I really need to drink.

BIWI · 26/02/2019 18:25

Oh no Sad. I'm so sorry to hear that @MrsKoala.

MrsKoala · 26/02/2019 18:32

Only 41. FORTY FUCKING ONE. I am being selfish but I can't imagine my life without him. I've known him since primary school.

I feel sick. I can't imagine ever wanting to eat again.

Sorry to be such a downer. I may take a break from BC for a while.

Siameasy · 26/02/2019 18:41

Sorry to hear that MrsK-take it easy.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 26/02/2019 18:42

So so sorry @MrsKoala, cancer is a bastard.

ShagMeRiggins · 26/02/2019 18:49

I am so very sorry to hear this. Such terrible news. {{{MrsKoala}}}

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 26/02/2019 19:15

So, my day (after my fuck-it blow out at the weekend). For critiquing.

B: x2 Boiled eggs with butter
L: Bolognese
D: Beef stew with cabbage and cauli cheese.

I had a pack of peanuts as a snack, 80 grams which was too many, 4.5 grams of carbs. I bought them expecting to eat 1/2 but they were too more-ish so I guess I just won't buy them any more. Hmm

Overall, Fitbit calculates my day was less than 1,500 calories.

Three litres of water, 10,000 steps including a 15 minute run.

And there were muffins and brownies in the office today which I completely ignored.

nowlook · 26/02/2019 19:30

@MrsKoala

Fuck me, you've had a run of it. I'm so sorry to hear about your mate. I'm forty; it's just not possible, is it?

Rshard · 26/02/2019 19:34

So sorry to hear that awful news @mrskoala. Cancer is a bastard. My dh lost his best friend to stomach cancer just over two years. For you and your friendFlowers

Doilooklikeatourist · 26/02/2019 19:41

💐@mrskoala 💐such awful news

SummerSazz · 26/02/2019 20:06

@BrassicaBabe well done on the run and potential job offer. Things always look brighter when there's some nice news and the sun shining

SummerSazz · 26/02/2019 20:06

Oops posted too soon Confused

SummerSazz · 26/02/2019 20:12

@m0therofdragons that sleep is normal for me - I'm not actually awake - most is light sleep and a wee

@ShagMeRiggins yes 33k steps today and 191 floors climbed. I've collapsed in the bath lol

@MrsKoala so sorry to hear about your friend . It feels like it's becoming far more prevalent but I suspect it's our age which in itself is sobering.

@nowlook Well done on your loss. I'm hoping for one tomorrow!!

I didn't make the lamb as had to pick DD2 up from school then DD1 from a netball match before delivering to guides and badminton respectively. So bought a hot roast chicken in Tesco and had with broccoli, green beans and asparagus and a huge dollop of mayo. Delicious. Will try the lamb and celeriac tomorrow

Condamine · 26/02/2019 21:18

@MrsKoala. I'm so sorry about your friend. It certainly puts all this in perspective. Flowers

1stMrsF · 26/02/2019 21:26

@MrsKoala I'm so sorry  Sad

@BrassicaBabe congratulations Star

To all the exercisers. I'm completely captivated by The Obesity Code at the moment. If it's to be believed (and it's compelling) then the point of exercise in this regime is not to increase calories burned (because that doesn't work) but to relieve stress and reduce cortisol. So any walk or run or whatever of any distance will have done good Smile. (Obviously increasing distance and speed will increase fitness but one thing at a time!)

L - slice roast beef spread with ff cream cheese. A piece of mushroom quiche with the pastry removed (!) and salad
D - spinach omelette, salad and avocado. No wine. All the water.

DH and the DCs ate macaroni cheese they'd made at school. I was so hungry I made the first thing that came into my head to stop me from eating pasta and now I feel a bit underwhelmed by the day's eggs and leaves fest Grin

Rshard · 26/02/2019 21:37

Sorry @brassica I didn’t spot your job news, congratulations

MiniCooperLover · 26/02/2019 21:39

Very sorry MrsKoala, that's such hard news for you all.

Diary today was:

B: scrambled eggs with double cream with smoked salmon
L: big plate of salad leaves, olive oil and mayo, Parma ham
D: cauliflower & broccoli cheese and a pork loin cooked in butter
Snack: pate with carrot sticks (which I know are high but I'd run out of cucumber)
Lots of water and tea

I ran 5K with my club tonight which I was pleased about. One of the coaches helped me pace (I'm rubbish) and bad one stop for some air in my lungs I did my quickest time (but no proof as I forgot to turn my watch on until after about half a KM). I prefer morning running and I wondered how I'd find it without carbs (even though it's only been 2 days) but it was all ok I think 👍
