Week 7 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Girding our loins and getting a grip

BIWI · 25/02/2019 08:51

Morning all

Having a bit of a snigger to myself, because autocorrect wanted me to tile the thread 'Girding our doings ...' Grin

Here's the spreadsheet

We only have four weeks left. I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun?!

There's been a bit of slippage going on, I notice - and whilst it's not all been of our own doing, sometimes it's about situations where we've reverted to 'learnt' behaviour or type.

So. Let's all pull our socks up! We have only four weeks left, but those weeks could make all the difference.

If you're worried about how the next few weeks are going to go, perhaps a return to Bootcamp rather than Bootcamp Light might help?

Whatever strategy you adopt, here's wishing us all very good luck

@nowlook that's very helpful as I have lamb neck fillet in the freezer and was just thinking the same thing - that replacing potato with celeriac in a hot pot recipe might work. I will add that to my list of ideas, thanks!

I've also just posted the chicken cauliflower alfredo on the recipe thread so I we can easily find it as it seems so popular. I'm going to put it on my plan for next weekend. We usually eat with extended for weekend meals so it's good to have something I want to eat that might please everyone.

Good day yesterday of being back on track. Drank all the water, no wine and ate well:
L - boiled eggs and mayo with salad
D - roasted salmon fillet with leftover celeriac champ

Yesterday's weigh in was 1.5lbs lower than last weeks to give a total lost of just over 1st. STS this morning

bluelefant · 26/02/2019 09:14

Hi everyone.I delayed weigh in this week hoping to get a better result but still have to record a 1.3 lbs gain which is disappointing 😐
I blame TOM as no slip ups really apart from constant snacking the day before period started which I always struggle with.I always have such a big appetite I can not resist putting something in my mouth every 15 min!
Well the plan is to be extra strict this week including alcohol free weekend.

@Doilooklikeatourist I also tried chicken alfredo and me and habby thought it was delicious. So did my 10yo DD so thank you for the link.
Hope everyone is having a good morning.
The weather is meant to be as lovely as yesterday and I'll be stuck in air conditioned indoors till 7pm but those of you who can-enjoy it 😊

Rshard · 26/02/2019 09:18

@m0ther don’t be too dispondent, you’re only human and today is a new day. Come and koko with us!

The cauliflower chicken Alfredo sounds popular, I’ll check it out, thanks

Iamnotacerealkiller · 26/02/2019 09:24

Just been watching this...

Interesting interview with a doctor about keto and how he had to ignore everything he was taught in medical school. Also good section on dairy for those of you having issues there. Lots of common sense stuff about inflammation etc.

KiteMarked · 26/02/2019 09:38

I'll say it - I'm afraid to weigh myself after gaining last week. Blah.

But in any case, I'm not giving up, and my clothes are still fitting better.

The past 3 weeks I've been walking a lot more due to a complicated and on-going car repair issue, so perhaps any weight gain is all muscle. I will get brave again for next week, though.

Dia12 · 26/02/2019 09:44

Sorry to hear of your blip yesterday @m0therofdragons 💐
I've always fallen at the same hurdle; those days where you simply run hungry. I'm sure you can shift those 3lbs pretty quickly, it's only a minor push back.

Thank you for the article @BIWI, was really interesting to learn about the hormonal changes causing the stall. 👍🏼

MiniCooperLover · 26/02/2019 10:09

Thankfully Day1 wasn't bad yday. Scrambled eggs with a slug of double cream and a bit of cheese and a couple of slices of bacon, big plate of salad with olive oil, tuna mayo and a tiny bit of cheese for lunch. Some pre and cucumber as a snack. Then dinner was more of the same to finish the tuna mayo. Lots of water and some tea.

Today so far is scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Lunch will be a salad with maybe some Parma ham and avocado (if it's softened any) and dinner with be Pork with cauliflower/broccoli cheese. I need to run today but I'm a bit housebound with a new puppy so I'll try and get out for a run later and do some crate training at the same time 👍

1Wildheartsease · 26/02/2019 10:32

New puppy Minicooperlover? Wonderful +lots of potential for dashing about burning calories there :)

Siameasy · 26/02/2019 11:23

Morning!
Had a lie in as I’ve got a cold. Can’t remember the last time I did that! But I’ve got no appetite and since there’s only meat on the menu I CBA!!

Who else here is an apple shape? I put all my fat on round my waist - it’s completely vile. Must be genetic. I think this WOE is made for people like me and am so relieved I’m following it!

SummerSazz · 26/02/2019 11:51

Thanks @nowlook and @1stMrsF - I've just got a mutton fillet out of the freezer and also have a celeriac and green cabbage so lamb hot pot and champ it is!!!! Love not having to think myself Grin

BIWI · 26/02/2019 11:59

I'm sitting on the sofa trying to persuade myself to go for a run; it's beautiful outside and I know the park will be glorious but just can't work myself up to it. That devil on my shoulder is definitely sitting on and firmly squashing the little angel.

Go go go @BIWI. I'm just about to go for a long walk with a friend. Although there is a pub in the middle as inventive Grin

Hefzi · 26/02/2019 12:07

Thanks for that link, @BIWI - really helpful.

And well done @tootstastic - downward is downward after all: and your example is helping me KOKO (though I know that's not entirely fulfilling for you Grin) That's a tremendous achievement in the space of a few months!

BIWI · 26/02/2019 12:10

I'm changed into my running kit @SummerSazz - so I'm going Grin

Well done BIWI, I'm going out this evening once DH is home.

Rshard · 26/02/2019 12:44

Hope you’ve had a good run @BIWI? I’ve just come back from mine, so lovely in the sun. I was actually a bit too warm in a long sleeved top!

Mimosa1 · 26/02/2019 12:44

Gaaah - I've GOT to get fitted. I'm getting sore legs cycling up hills at centre parks with the kids. Do NOT want to be the slow fat mum!!! DH is an angel and is LCing with me - lunch was salad wraps with coleslaw and egg mayo and cheese. So so but glorious weather for a few days away. Well done on going running @BIWI !

SummerSazz · 26/02/2019 13:21

Pub!!! Prawn and caper salad with mayo

Well done @BIWI

venusandmars · 26/02/2019 13:22

That was an interesting video to watch, thanks @iamnotacerealkiller

We've got a 7 month puppy staying for a couple of weeks so we just had a nice walk on the beach in the sunshine.

B - avocado
L - tuna mayo with celery and salad
D - cheese and ham omelette with whatever comes in the veg box

BIWI · 26/02/2019 13:40

Phew! It was hot - too hot for what I was wearing, so I had to do that rather awkward thing of taking off my jacket and tying it round my waist while still running!

I downloaded Map My Run, but messed things up a bit - I thought I was going to stop after 20 minutes of running, so I stopped after it gave me my second split time, but it wasn't until I got home I realised that it gives you split times every kilometre, not every ten minutes. So I only ran for 15 minutes rather than the 20 I had planned. Although I was very glad to stop when I did!

I'm glad I went, but I was a bit disheartened by the pace I managed. I know it's bound to be slower than when I last trained properly, but I had hoped it wouldn't be.

Anyway, I did it. 15 minutes is still better than nothing. I'm now 'enjoying' a Fast800 protein shake for my 'lunch' - trying to keep today a lower carb and calorie day. I chucked in 50g raspberries to make it a bit more palatable, and that's working so far.

Dinner tonight - courtesy of DH - will be roasted sausages and vegetables.

Happily, I seem to be having a mini whoosh. Just taken the decision to move DS1 (year 7) back to his old school (which keeps them until year 9). He's been miserable for a few months, so I wonder if the relief has led to a sudden reduction in my cortisol levels. After all, we're only ever as happy as our unhappiest child Smile

Either way, I'll take it and try to hold on to it for the next 5 days!

MrsFionaCharming · 26/02/2019 16:08

After doing so well last week, I went out with my coursemates to celebrate surviving our first half term, had too much to drink and ate a late night bigmac. That put me back up by an lb, which is disappointing but hardly undeserved.

Back on the horse now, I’ve had buttery scrambled eggs for brunch, now going for a run before beef and broccoli for dinner.

SummerSazz · 26/02/2019 16:15

Well done @BIWI and @MrsFionaCharming for your runs. Lots of walking for me today (and very hilly!!)

m0therofdragons · 26/02/2019 16:27

Friend has asked me to run with her tonight (between dance and guides Shock - for dc not me). I'm going to do my best to go even if it's only 30 minutes! I've already had dinner as I wouldn't eat otherwise and really need to avoid binges from hunger.

m0therofdragons · 26/02/2019 16:28

Argh posted too soon.

Well done @BIWI on getting out for your run!

And 30k steps!!! Impressive but what's going on with your sleep pattern?!
