Good morning all, for the final Monday of this Bootcamp.

Here's the spreadsheet for its last outing!

I hope very much that the last ten weeks have been successful for everyone - whether that's on the scales, seeing your clothes fit better, better health and general enjoyment of your food!

I'll keep this chat thread going, and when it's full, will start another one until we start the next Bootcamp, which will start in mid-October.

Congratulations on your new home @AthelstaneTheUnready, it sounds really lovely, and I'm sure that after only a short time you will settle into your new life and your journey will become a distant memory. To work so hard for so long though, shows huge determination and great strength of character, there's not many who could do all that, well done, I wish you every happiness thereThanks

Justmuddlingalong · 02/09/2018 21:30

Bleugh, 🤢 I've been maintaining at 9.5 stone since I hit my target. But tonight...an ice cream binge followed by a whole bar of chocolate! What the hell? I deserve the nausea and headache I'm currently feeling, but OMG, I truly fell off the wagon, pulled off the wheels and set 🔥 to the bloody thing. I will not avoid the scales tomorrow and I will wait for the next wagon and then climb on it.

Laska5772 · 03/09/2018 07:41

And me justmuddling

I had been maintaining my loss but ....On Friday I made a chicken and chorizo roast veggie thing which did include some chickpeas ( not too bad in the great scheme of things thought I .)

On Saturday we had a naice day out at an NT place with old friends . the ques for cafe was enormous and in the w end instead of waiting for a salad to be made as I had intended I had a ham sandwich (as everyone else was just having cake and coffee ) then later was bought a double scoop ice cream ( in a tub dont you know..to 'save' meeating the cone !!!!!!!Hmm..

then we had a curry later and by then I was in full @sod it' mode and had some dhal and nan bread with it !. so yesterday thought id fast for a a few hours and did until evening when I had some left over curry and left over chicken mixed.( so.which yes did included a small amount of chickpeas)

This morning!! can you believe? .I am HALF A STONE up.. Shock Shock Shock I am ruddy hoping this is only going to be 'temporary'..

But Fk a duck!!

I have signed up pronto on the new bootcamp thread

Justmuddlingalong · 03/09/2018 08:24

I'm up 4lbs this morning. That'll teach me.

ajandjjmum · 03/09/2018 09:29

Is there a new bootcamp thread already? I'm holding at the moment, but know I'll need to get back on it to start losing again - thought it was October though?

Laska5772 · 03/09/2018 09:58

Biwi has posted a sign up thread ajandjjmum

prettybird · 03/09/2018 17:02

@AthelstaneTheUnready - I've sent you a PM. Smile

Sounds like you are getting really well settled, with a fancy new job and a fancy now house. Now you can also make a fancy new RL friend Wink if we ever managed to get coordinated enough Blush

AthelstaneTheUnready · 03/09/2018 17:13

Thanks, waswitty! Blush I might have grumbled along the way a bit, but I wanted this so much it's absolutely felt worth every minute of not having other stuff.

Just and Laska, I feel your pain. On the plus side, at least it now feels like bonkers behaviour, rather than business as usual. Which makes it easier to claw back from.

Replied, pretty. Am all up for fancy new friends Grin. just a shame it's the same old me

Laska5772 · 04/09/2018 08:53

about 3lbs has gone again but still up.. and stomach not feeling great. Amazing how a slip like that has affected me so..
.

Rayna37 · 04/09/2018 13:17

Well the sign-up for next bootcamp has given me a kick up the bum, seeing as I was so convinced I'd not be a part of it Grin
Here I am 6lbs over goal after a weekend in the Lakes and with 5 weeks of maternity leave left so I'd better get on it. Will move to maintenance whatever then.
Graph attached: got strict on low carb in Jan after finishing the year exactly the weight I was a week after the birth. Found BC end of Jan. Been sloppy the last couple of months now I'm about where I was when I got pregnant and fitting in my clothes, but would like at least half a stone more off really, maybe 10lbs so need to either just do it or stick where I am and accept maintenance.

Nice to hear your news Athelstane

I'll regale you all with my yogurt making exploits at a later date.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 04/09/2018 13:44

Laska, if only it was a lesson that stayed learned. I find I forget the impact after a couple of months and do it all again...

Thanks, Rayna. I think you were always a couple of lbs ahead of me, trying to get to roughly the same place. I'm also 7lbs over goal, and thinking about dropping another 5 or 6lbs when I get there as I'm still more wobble than meat.

I would like to hear about yoghurt.

Waswittyonce · 04/09/2018 21:28

I would be interested to hear about yoghurt making too Rayna, it's on my list of things to try along with cream cheese and kefir. Life's so bloody hectic at the moment I just haven't been able to make a start. I did make some fat bombs though today. Recently DH has finished every meal with biscuits, bags of sweets and yesterday ( my biggest weakness) crisps. So far I've managed to resist, but it's probably only a matter of time so a contingency plan is necessary. They're only small, ice cube size, but surprisingly good. Recipe is here chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2018/07/23/fat-bombs-recipe-keto/

Rshard · 04/09/2018 22:27

Lovely to see you athle, glad to hear that life is treating you well.

Also interested to hear about the yoghurt rayna

I’ve enjoyed the holidays particularly my actual holiday but I’m so looking forward to getting back to my usual routine. A bit boring I know but it helps me stay on track.

StuntNun · 04/09/2018 22:43

It's very easy to make your own yogurt and one big advantage is that you can culture it for longer to reduce the carb count even lower. I sometimes start with a mix of whole milk and double cream to make for a richer finished product.

Rayna37 · 05/09/2018 09:11

Ooh great tip stuntnun definitely will be looking for more tips!

I bought a yogurt maker, I know you can do without but seemed easier and not expensive really. I had hoped to buy used (there must be loads hanging around cupboards!) but I liked the Lakeland one with strainer included. Main motivation was to reduce single-use plastic as the tubs I was getting through seemed so substantial and wasteful. It won't work out much cheaper as we have milk delivered (again to reduce plastic) but it's 75p a pint! Anyway, I'm sure one day I'll be able to bring milk to the boil without it boiling over but my reactions are not yet that cat-like Confused also totally misjudged how long it would take to cool down again leading to a later than planned bedtime! Great result though, will keep experimenting and will also try some cream cheese. Anyone do anything with the whey?

Laska5772 · 05/09/2018 18:26

Ack, bought some grated mozzarella to make pizza base, and of course forgot to look.. it has potato starch in to stop it sticking together .. Hmm Into the bin with that then.. Angry

I have had a dreadful bought of the runs these last couple of days ..could be something I ate or could be those pesky carbs coming though .. hope to see a reduction on the scales tomorrow.. Wink

Rshard · 06/09/2018 08:14

The week of all inclusive holidaying resulted in a 3.75lbs gain so pretty pleased. I didn’t go mad but enjoyed the things I chose to have. Back on it today.

ilovecherries · 06/09/2018 10:52

Packing to go on holiday, and struck by the fact that size 12 clothes take up a lot less room, and weight a lot less, than size 24. I have loads of space left in my case compared to previous years. Who knew. Confused. Plus of course two entire suitcases worth of my own weight has gone. I can barely carry one 20 kgs suitcase, never mind two of them. I’m still gobsmacked that all that weight used to be firmly attached to me, every second of the day.

ilovecherries · 06/09/2018 10:54

rshard, well down, and some of that will also probably be fluid retention after flying.

laska, how are you feeling today?

Rshard · 06/09/2018 12:20

Thanks ilovecherries, probably is some water retention from flying. Hadn’t thought of that to be honest!

Enjoy your holiday. A good reality check there, seeing for real how much you’ve lost!

I habitually has to buy new clothes for each holiday as I was inevitably bigger but this time I took two swim suits that I’ve actually taken on three holidays. I’ve never, ever done that. They were actually a bit big so will now be going in the bin!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 06/09/2018 17:56

Hello, Rshard

God, Rayna, do you have do boil stuff and participate in the yoghurt? I thought you could just chuck everything in a pot and let it make itself? Boo hiss.

That's a really un-ignorable reminder of how far you've come, cherries. My reminder today was sitting uncomfortably on a fold-down bus seat, which felt hard without my own personal padding.

Rayna37 · 06/09/2018 18:57

Athelstane bit of a faff I'm afraid yes; I think if you use UHT then you only have to warm the milk or there's a basic (easy-yo?) maker where you make it from water and "magic starter powder" possibly this has a real name but neither appealed, wanted it as Real Food as possible.

Stuntnun I used the basic 43 degrees 8 hr setting for whole milk, as a rough guide how much longer do you leave yours?

Laska5772 · 07/09/2018 08:02

have a good holiday cherries . So great that you can now take more of the lovely clothes you have bought! This morning I was finally back to my previous pre-carb fest weight . but sadly still not quite right in the tummy dept.. Sad

StuntNun · 07/09/2018 10:06

Rayna I used to have the Lakeland yogurt maker and it's just so easy. I would put a litre of full fat UHT milk in the white part and microwave it for 2 minutes to get it to the right temperature. Then stir in a couple of tablespoons of live yogurt (save some from each batch to make the next batch) and leave it in the yogurt maker for about 10 hours. I have an Instant Pot now which has a yogurt setting so I make a couple of litres at a time. I like really sour yogurt so I'll happily go up to 12 hours but DH prefers it done for 8 hours. I think it depends on what you're using it for - if you're eating it "neat" then 8 hours is better but if you're going to mix in some berries or occasionally cream and grated dark chocolate then it doesn't make much difference if it's been cultured for longer. For using up the whey from strained yogurt, I keep a tub in the freezer as the started for the next batch then dilute the rest to put it on my tomato plants. You could also use it to make smoothies as it has protein in. Athelstane you only have to heat up the milk first (and let it cool again) if you're using regular milk so UHT is much easier. There are methods for making yogurt in a thermos flask or slow cooker so you don't need a specialist yogurt maker.

Rayna37 · 07/09/2018 12:59

Thanks Stuntnun made today's batch for 10hrs. The milk did boil over again but only a tiny but as I was stood next to it...progress!

NSV today, tried on my oldest but in some cases least worn bras and they fit! This is great especially for the expensive sports bras sitting unworn.
