Good morning all, for the final Monday of this Bootcamp.

Here's the spreadsheet for its last outing!

I hope very much that the last ten weeks have been successful for everyone - whether that's on the scales, seeing your clothes fit better, better health and general enjoyment of your food!

I'll keep this chat thread going, and when it's full, will start another one until we start the next Bootcamp, which will start in mid-October.

Iirc, creme fraiche is not as high in fat as you might think it is, so that might be adding carbs and not satiating you with plenty of fat. I might be wrong though.

Good for you for KOKO - if you are at a set/pause point, eventually your body will accept that it is ok to keep on moving downwards.

Laska5772 · 16/08/2018 09:34

Pretty That's interesting ill just go and have a look......

Ok.. the one I have says 30g fat per 100ml carbs3g ..
I am not sure how that equates to thick cream, will have to look that up ..

I prefer Creme Fraiche because of the acidity . I often mix it with H/F Greek yoghurt . I do like cream but it does strange things to my stomach and sometimes makes me feel sick ( but it could be actually in my head! Wink ..

I am fine with a pause if that's what it is .. I had hoped to have lost a bit more before the start of next bootcamp , but as long as I am not more!! .. ( I am hovering around 158)

I agree with prettybirds logic of your body adapting to a certain weight for a few days or weeks then losing again. I seem to be in a shift at the moment. I now need to lose 2oz to be in the normal BMI catergory. Hoping I can do that by the weekend!

My 2 year old DD is very into baking cakes with me at the moment. I've learnt the hard way not to make chocolate rice krispy cakes with her as I tend to eat half the mixture plus a couple of cakes Blush so I'm on the hunt for low carb desserts that DD will also enjoy. Tuesday we made frozen yog cakes (basically just yogurt with a couple of berries into a smiley face and frozen - she wasn't keen) and I've got some low carb blueberry muffins in the oven. Any siggestions would be appreciated!

Laska5772 · 16/08/2018 10:15

Homemade LC coconut ice cream?

I've not tried it..dont think id dare! but it looks good

prettybird · 16/08/2018 10:22

I did say I might be wrong about the creme fraiche, Laska Wink

I'm the same weight as you now and back on a downwards trajectory Smile However I did stick at 167lb for two months Sad in February and March after losing 3 stone between May and Christmas (iirc, I also had a sticking point at c1.5stone off last September-ish). I ended up falling off the wagon, putting on 8lb Blush before clambering on again and starting the downwards (and beyond) movement on the scales again Smile

Laska5772 · 16/08/2018 10:25

pretty yes and we have cherries example to emulate . She had the mother of all stalls, but kept the faith and is on the way down again now Smile.

3stonedown · 16/08/2018 10:28

thanks Laska5772 that will be popular I expect

prettybird · 16/08/2018 15:08

Had an NSV: I've been able to get my engagement ring off. Have t been able to do that in years Shock

Now there have been times in the last few years when I've wanted to take it (along with the eternity and wedding rings - which are still stuck fast Blush) off Sad- but fortunately at the moment, I'm feeling better about my marriage Grin

So even though I can get it off, it's safe on my finger for the moment Wink

ilovecherries · 16/08/2018 16:52

Carbs are just everywhere. Had a meeting in Costa this afternoon. Had missed lunch and was feeling a bit hungry so bought a dark chocolate and nut bar to have with my tea. Didn’t have my reading glasses on at the counter so couldn’t read the teeny nutritional info but assumed in would be ‘not optimal but ok given my general strictness’. Bloody hell. Once I got my glasses on it was 40gms/100. It was LOADED with sugar. I virtuously went hungry. I’d been thinking it might be 10-15 gms per 100, so only 4-6 in the bar. If I ever go off piste it will need to be for something much nicer than that!

Laska5772 · 16/08/2018 19:02

I am so Indian food mad right now.

Once again (second time this week ) I am having a variation on Meera Sohda's simply spiced cabbage for dinner.

Tonight nine has added green chilli, mushrooms, cold shredded chicken and creamed coconut and bit of chicken stock.. Yumyumyumyum Grin

Its from her book, Made in India , but Meera has a fab website with lots of recipes . (not all low carb though!!)

banano · 17/08/2018 10:05

Hello! Can I join (officially - I've been lurking for a while and find the Boot Camp threads really motivating)?

I started LCHF in mid-June, and have so far lost 1st 11lbs. Which is amazing. Although I do have a LOT to lose (about another 7 stone to get into healthy BMI) Blush

Had a bad weekend 2 weeks ago so restarted and am now in the dreaded week 3 stall, but am KOKO and can't wait for the next bootcamp to start!

3stonedown I follow some keto accounts on instagram which have good baking recipes - one called ketohb did a really nice keto chocolate muffin receipe the other day with almond butter.

pearfect · 17/08/2018 10:09

Hello,

Prettybird has pointed me in the direction of this thread.

I thought it would be too late to join? Should I come back in October?

Been kinda doing the low carb thing for a few weeks now. Initially I lost 10lb but then I keep going up and down - either because of booze, forgetting my lunch when at work, and going to restaurants that the kids choose so I am stuck with pizza or nothing.

I find it fairly easy to live without carbs. What I sturggle with is when there are no other choices and I am caught out (our staff canteen is only pastries, sandwiches, crisps, paninis). And booze.

prettybird · 17/08/2018 10:19

Welcome Flowers

Scroll down and you'll see that are already a few relative newbies who're still navigating the early days of Boot Camp and getting support as they do so.

The rest of us are just trying not to fall off the wagon Grin and a few of us have mini challenges running until the start of the next Boot Camp. Mine are to break through into the 10 stone somethings (which would also mean a normal BMI Smile and a loss of 4 stone since I started Grin) - only 5lb to go Smile and to try a new HFLC recipe a week (so as not to get stuck in a rut).

prettybird · 17/08/2018 10:21

And welcome banano - you've done brilliantly so far and well done on getting back on the wagon. Flowers

pearfect · 17/08/2018 10:24

Wow 4 stone!!! That's amazing, Prettybird!

I weigh 13 stone and would like to get down to 11. I recently got engaged so the upcoming wedding is what I need to focus on for motivation!

Must remember to always bring in my lunch and try and cut back on the booze (by god do I love a wine or g&t of an evening. And especially when the kids are with their father every other weekend...I tend to go out and binge)

pearfect · 17/08/2018 10:26

also...any tips for the stinky breath and foul taste in your mouth when in ketosis??

AnotherOtter · 17/08/2018 12:03

Thanks again, Stuntnun, for the information. Will bear that in mind about the choice of food for carb refeeds.

ilovecherries, you look fantastic in your wigs (seen your photos on the Hush threads)! I have bookmarked the shop you recommended and feel better knowing that that is a good option for the future.

3stonedown · 17/08/2018 12:18

Welcome banano and pearfect Thanks for the instagram suggestion, I often see them but no way to save them so will have to start writing down as soon as I see otherwise I forget who posted. Low carb blueberry muffins were nice but DD said they were yuck (typical 2 year old!)

My mini goal was 7lb off in Aug. I've only lost 3.6 but there's a couple of weeks to go yet (although a wedding in the middle)

banano · 17/08/2018 13:24

3stonedown just realised the Instagram account is keto_copy not hbketo (although that also has a few recipes on it)

Good luck with your mini goal - I think you've done really well considering you had a wedding.

I've got a mini goal of reaching 2st by my holiday in 2 weeks. Trying not to think about how I'm going to cope with the holiday itself- its self-catering (good) but in France (croissants Confused)

3stonedown · 17/08/2018 13:49

banano we are going to France in 2 weeks too! Ours is self-catering as well and I think if I stock up on berries and yogurt for breakfast everyday I should cope with Lunch and Dinner ok.

prettybird · 17/08/2018 14:02

Pearfect - it's not 4 stone yet - got 5lb to go Smile

Re ketosis breath: it should pass but in the mean time, make sure you're drinking plenty of water and maybe chew some parsley. I found having some home-made electrolyte water (2 pints during the day, alternating with "plain" water, as part of my 3 litre allocation) helped: a squoosh of lemon juice and a couple of shakes of Lo-salt.

prettybird · 17/08/2018 14:10

banano - are you an Abstainer or a Moderator?

If you're an Abstainer, step AWAY from the croissants Shock

If you're a Moderator, then allow yourself one lovely French croissant (my vice is pain au chocolat) or a piece of French patisserie that you can't buy in this country (mmmmm, réligieuses au café). Savour it. Enjoy it mindfully. Then get right back on the HFLC wagon. Grin

But we're all different Smile Some of us can't go off piste at all. Other can do it briefly. I've learnt that if I restrict it to once , I'm OK, but if I go back for seconds or a second occasion in quick succession, I'm fucked Blush

banano · 17/08/2018 18:03

prettybird that is wise advice, thank you. I'm definitely an Abstainer. One slither of birthday cake "to be polite" and the wheels definitely come off so I've learnt just to avoid it completely.

I actually think I could eat a whole nunnery of religieuses! They are my absolute favourites.

3stonedown That's a good tactic. French full fat yoghurt is so good as well. Plus beurre, jambon, fromage, local vegetables etc. I don't think I'll actually feel at all deprived if I can eat all that! Hope the sun shines where you are going, we're headed to Brittany coast.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 18/08/2018 06:54

Welcome banano and pearfect.

I’m also new to this round of LCHF - I’m at the 4 week mark now although I did low-carb before.

NSV for me - trousers are feeling looser and I can do up my smaller jeans again. Still a bit tight to be comfortable though!

I love France and would definitely treat myself to a lovely croissant or pain au chocolat. However I think bread is my gateway drug so I try and steer clear as much as possible!

3stonedown · 18/08/2018 08:36

banano we are going to the normandy coast so not far. I will have to abstain from croissants unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to control myself but there is plenty of lovely low carb food in France anyway
