Morning all. Flowers

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for almost the last time

One final week, and then next week will the last official weigh-in of this Bootcamp.

Hope it's all going well, and that this final week can see a few more pesky pounds vanquished Grin

@leapinlizards Banting is another word name for keto/lchf, mainly used in south Africa I think. It's based on the work of Professor Tim Noakes and I discovered it from a radio 4 programme about him. It was that that then led me here - much to my surprise as I am completely anti dieting and had never been near this bit of MN before! If you Google 'banting food lists' they will come up. The Real Meal Revolution website and cook book are great and they're set up by Tim Noakes and some other South African chefs/nutritionists.

Does anyone have any tips for sticking to bootcamp while camping? I'll be camping for 4 days this week and can't think how to eat bootcamp without a fridge!

LeapinLizards · 22/07/2018 08:38

That's really interesting @qumquat, thanks. I will take a look.
I've not been camping but I'd be thinking about cooking lots of boiled eggs & take nuts as a snack. I'm pretty sure someone asked about camping on a previous BC so hopefully they'll come along & give some suggestions

Bit too much alcohol last night Blush - but until the summer pudding, the meal was wonderfully HFLC. Smile

All the veg were from the garden; resisted even trying one of the new potatoes, but enjoyed the broad beans, runner beans and a few purple podded peas done in butter. The lamb was flavoured with garlic and rosemary from the garden.

This was the starter: tzatziki made with a home grown cucumber and home grown garlic and courgette flowers stuffed with Boursin, cream cheese and chives, oregano, basil and garlic from the garden.

Today I'm going to have the first courgettes from the garden - a mix if yellow and green ones. I've seen a nice recipe for a grilled salad using the mixture. Recipe uses sweet corn, so I'm going to substitute baby sweet corn. I'll report back on how successful it is Smile

qumquat - take some pepperami and babybels. Boiled eggs are good. Salads with oily dressings (take same baby gem lettuces - they stay nice and crisp). You could make the Boot Camp coleslaw with Lidl mayonnaise - that should last a day or two.

If you've got a camp fire, some griddled courgettes, baby sweet corn, asparagus.

LeapinLizards · 22/07/2018 09:12

Wow @prettybird that sounds amazing. I envy you and all the homegrown produce. I'm going to grow veg for next year. I have room but no experience in it.
Is your starter deep fried in tempura? It looks delicious.

prettybird · 22/07/2018 09:14

Didn't make a tempura batter because of the flour required and was having summer pudding later , so found a recipe where the courgette flowers were dipped in egg (was supposed also to use some corn flour but missed that out) and then pan fried. They were yummy Smile

LeapinLizards · 22/07/2018 09:20

Delicious! I am going to try the egg dipping & frying too. I'd wondered if you'd made tempura batter using almond flour or something else LCHF. I wonder if that might work. May try it sometime.

Rshard · 22/07/2018 09:43

Looks delicious prettybird.

The Banting Diet is a 19th century plan, probably the first LCHF diet plan, started by William Banting

Been awol but just caught up. Still up on my lowest weight but AF currently here and a few minor slips during the week, so a few more days and I should be seeing a drop.

Banting is what DSIL and DBIL are doing, as it was recommended by their south African GP. At least, they are calling it that but it's basically LCHF.
Prettybird we've been eating out homegrown Courgettes for weeks, the four plants we stuck in a grow bag have been prolifically producing! We are down south, so possibly earlier than some. I like them fried then add a cheesey sauce made of cream cheese and Parmesan with some herbs and chili flakes.
Will have to try the griddled option when camping next weekend. I have never managed a camping weekend without carbs in the whole 19 months I've been doing this WOE. Always plan to, but slip off. I blame the wine, so I'm just not going to drink this weekend...

BlackMozart · 22/07/2018 21:53

I have courgettes and patty pans here and I fry them slowly and v simply in butter with a shallot, s& p and some sweet paprika. Had some itch loin of lamb last night and tonight finished them with some roasted leeks and a bit of Parma ham.

BlackMozart · 22/07/2018 22:02

Itch? That would be ‘with’ obvs

itchyknees · 22/07/2018 23:33

Evening all! I fell into some crusty bread last night and had 2 slices. Woke up this morning with the must crippling guts. I need to remind myself of that every time I’m tempted. Told my mum and she charmingly sent me this.
