Morning all. Flowers

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for almost the last time

One final week, and then next week will the last official weigh-in of this Bootcamp.

Hope it's all going well, and that this final week can see a few more pesky pounds vanquished Grin

Thanks, both of you.

Thing I'll try to be good and not go too far off piste. One consolation is that whisky is carb-free! I wish I knew why they rang me rather than letting me contact them, which is what my friend, at the same practice, had to do. Hopefully the receptionist just had a few spare minutes and decided to be helpful.

Sheldon Thanks for the handhold, I’ll try not to squeeze it too tightly!

Thing101 · 20/07/2018 18:43

Yes, maybe they just thought that a letter wouldn't give you enough time to sort a Monday appointment? And they were saving the NHS a stamp 😬
Hope you have a good weekend 🥃

sheldonesque · 20/07/2018 18:55

I'm too much of a lightweight [not literally] for whisky but if it is carb free then it will take the edge off for you and you deserve some.

I've been a wazzock and have played Russian roulette with some prawns. Just waiting to see if it'll have the same outcome as me on the whisky...

prettybird · 20/07/2018 20:27

@sayrraT - can you add some rows to the spreadsheet: I am finally back on a laptop and want to track my progress. I know I'm very very late Blush

3stonedown · 20/07/2018 20:40

time from my experience when I had to redo a smear it was because there weren't enough cells and I had to wait 6 weeks for the cells to regrow so got a letter. I would assume because you can have yours done Monday they called to get you booked in asap

m0therofdragons · 20/07/2018 21:15

Okay, really rubbish week; offered job, then told actually will have interview but it'll be informal chat, now told to prepare 30 minutes presentation on a full on topic plus interview with panel made up of board of directors. Ffs, total mind fuck. I'm drinking cider. Back on low carb tomorrow but right now I'm just impressed I've not devoured a full chocolate cake!

Thing101 · 20/07/2018 21:49

Omg mother 30 mins?! That's bonkers! Maybe take the cider in with you to help the chat flow?! Grin

m0therofdragons · 20/07/2018 22:10

@Thing101 fab idea but no way am I sharing my good cider with those bastards... I actually really like them, just wish they'd check HR procedures before getting it so wrong! Roll on next weekend. Whatever the outcome it will be over and if I get back on low carbing I'll be lighter than I am now! Grin

LeapinLizards · 21/07/2018 11:10

@TimeIhadaNamechange i know it's a worry for you but, even if they're calling you in because they've seen changes, it can be ok. I had that many years ago & they simply removed the bit of the cervix under local anaesthetic & all has been fine ever since. So it doesn't necessarily mean anything sinister, though I know it's easy for everyone else to say that.

LeapinLizards · 21/07/2018 11:13

@m0ther what a pain in the arse. Quite poor of them to have messed you around so much. However, the fact that your boss is so keen on you getting the promotion means you are going into the presentation in a stronger position than anyone else. Hope you can use that knowledge to your advantage - it's a real confidence boost.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 21/07/2018 11:18

Curiouser and curiouser. Have letter back re smear. Nothing abnormal found. So why on Earth does the doctor want to see me???????

LeapinLizards · 21/07/2018 11:21

@Time, that is very odd indeed. Maybe it's an admin error. They happen quite a lot.

LeapinLizards · 21/07/2018 11:26

@BIWI, just going back to your mention of the maintenance thread, I had found it a couple of weeks ago but noticed it was very quiet. Maybe they've all nailed it, of course, and no need to make use of a thread but I agree with your view that maintenance can be much trickier to navigate. The great thing about BC is that the rules are set but maintenancs requires that we find our own rules - eek!

Rshard · 21/07/2018 11:59

For you time Flowers

qumquat · 21/07/2018 14:02

I hope it all gets resolved quickly time. Also mother what a mess! It sounds sadly similar to the way my work place operates!

Re. maintenance I had assumed that weight would naturally stabilise once we've reached the weight we're meant to be? As long as we always eat when hungry. I'm convinced of the science that lchf is the way to eat for life so I don't plan on reintroducing carbs, but I'm guessing my appetite will increase once the fat stores aren't there to fuel the body.

I follow 'Banting' as well as Bootcamp and that has green, orange and red lists of allowed/not allowed foods. I think people on maintenance are able to be more relaxed about the orange list but red list is a permanent no. You can find the lists on the Real Meal Revolution website. I find them really useful.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 21/07/2018 14:27

Time and M0ther, hope things work out for both of you.

Extra stress is not what you need!

Maintenance is what I failed at last time. Lost quite a lot of weight then tried to eat relatively ‘normally’ over Autumn/Winter. Before I knew it, bread and pasta were regular features again and the weight piled on. I have lovely summer clothes from last year I can’t wear because I put too much weight on!

LeapinLizards · 21/07/2018 14:28

What's banting @qumquat? Is it low carb? I've not heard of it before. I have been pretty strict for the entire time I've done BC & I wouldn't want to stick to it forever, largely because it's so difficult when I go out or visit people. Maybe I just become less strict & that will be my form of maintenance.

Rshard · 21/07/2018 15:56

For me, maintenance will be mostly eating this woe but occasionally having carbs when eating out or an event. But only if I really fancy them.

Thing101 · 21/07/2018 15:57

I have some questions re. maintenance- should I wait til Biwi tells us or ask now?! I did have a look for a maintenance thread but couldn't find it.

prettybird · 21/07/2018 16:20

Thing - maintenance is whenever you feel you've hit your target and don't want to lose more.

I've tagged you in the Maintenance thread - which will also have the effect of jumping it near the top of the Boot Camp threads (after the pinned recipe threads).

Thing101 · 21/07/2018 16:44

Fab, thanks prettybird . I was just wondering about whether to keep up all the water drinking and if you eat lchf even if you did have some carb. Eg if I was having a lchf day then ate a potato, would I do rest of the day lchf or less fat . Do you see what I mean?

prettybird · 21/07/2018 17:07

Personally, I continue HFLC even if I have some carbs - but make sure to have lots of water for the rest of the day (or prepare in advance by being extra low carb earlier in the day).

I'll also prioritise. For example, sssshhhh, don't tell Wink dh and a friend had croissants this morning and I thought about having half of one - but then remembered I'm having summer pudding (with fruit from the garden) tonight, which means I'll be having a small amount of bread Blush

Croissants or pains au chocolat can be bought at any time Grin. Summer pudding from the garden is a once-a-year treat Smile. (remember, I'm a moderator so can cope with once-off diversions).

Rollupandride · 21/07/2018 19:15

How do I join the new boot camp?

ilovecherries · 21/07/2018 19:52

Hi Rollup, new bootcamp won’t be till October-ish but you can read all the rules (linked to from the first post) and just join along here till then :)

m0therofdragons · 21/07/2018 20:58

Back on plan today and no alcohol. Rough draft of presentation is done so I'll write it properly tomorrow and can get practicing in the evenings. I'm wishing the week away big time but determined to keep losing weight no matter what shit life throws my way!
