Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

BIWI · 19/03/2018 07:19

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

Athel - sounds a perfect excuse to go for a run! Join me? I’m determined to go out today even though it’s supposed to rain all day and I only ordered a waterproof jacket yesterday. I need the company!

BIWI · 24/03/2018 08:23

I agree with @TimeIhadaNameChange, @AthestaneTheUnready - you need some exercise to burn through the extra glycogen you will have laid down!

Not with my balloon knee! Grin

Although it is a beautiful sunny day here. Thanks for the advice - I will take it as far as possible, as in, I'm heading off to do 3 or 4 hours gardening for someone. I'm not having breakfast, so hopefully an extended fast with lots of moderate bending, stretching, pulling, digging will burn through some of that glycogen before it turns to fat. As long as the knee holds out (fingers crossed).

I am so GLUM with myself. Idiot.

TerfsUp · 24/03/2018 09:54

Looking good, wayoftheworld!

TerfsUp · 24/03/2018 09:55

Hope it all goes well for you, Athelstane.

Bluntness100 · 24/03/2018 09:58

Don't be glum. You enjoyed it at the time, that's what matters, just get back on track.

I've just got ready to go out and am wearing a pair of skinnies I used to live in. I'm a little surprised they fit well to be honest. NSV day. 😁

YoLoHogwomanay · 24/03/2018 10:16

food log yesterday;

small pot of shop bought egg mayo, large creamy coffee
chicken Caesar salad, no croutons, babybel
3 gourmet chocolates - pure fuck it moment. they didn't even touch the sides so we're wasted enjoyment. an hour after I felt all shaky and dizzy with the sugar spike. bad move.
kofte kebab with salad, plenty of yoghurty garlic sauce, no pitta, coleslaw.
2 squares 85% chocolate

Did 14000 steps though! fair bit of walking.

today I will lay off the chocolate. I have some life decisions to make soon and I need to be more practical than stressy.

Athel you can identify the triggers for food bingeing...it's alcohol! (mine is emotional upset or stress). Now, what are you going to do about it?

MumOfAPickle · 24/03/2018 12:01

Morning all, lovely to catch up on all your news, I had no internet for a while 😱 It was awful!!

So I did my 3 day egg fast this week but not sure I lost much on it, I think mainly because I also didn't poo for 3 days! I did see 11 4 on the scales this morning so I'm going to log that on the spreadsheet for my final weigh in this boot camp. So that's half a stone off since starting, which doesn't seem much but I've had loads of slips and managed to enjoy lots of social events without feeling too deprived. I have to remember what other wise bcers have said before which is that if I hadn't started this then I would still have that half a stone and probably more besides!

Since the egg fast I have actually found bc easier as it suddenly feels like I've got so much choice! It also made me realise (again) that I don't need chocolate or yogurt with cream every day as a 'pudding' so I've been much stricter about that, have only had one small bit of (very dark) chocolate all week in fact.

Went to the theatre last night to see Julius Caesar (which was excellent -'highly recommended if you're anywhere near London) and had two glasses of wine but had a late breakfast of sprouts and sausages then an early dinner of chicken with buttery creamed veg then nothing at all to eat again until just now! I could never have done that on a carby diet!

Am going to try harder to log food w

YoLoHogwomanay · 24/03/2018 12:23

another 2 lbs to go and I will have lost 3 stone on this WOE since the end of May last year. That is probably a halfway point for me. So, another 3 stone after that and I think I'll be a 'normal' weight for my height.

I already feel so much slimmer, but it's all relative. I'm still obese. I like being able to see my face and it's much smaller. Second chin is on its way out!

Need to do some toning.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 24/03/2018 12:25

Mum I saw Julius Caesar last month, agree that it was fantastic - where you in the high seats or part of the crowd?

Thank you for all the kind comments on my progress pictures. I am pleased, but there is still work to be done from the tummy button down - ski trousers hold my tummy in quite a bit and, as you can see from these pics (which I struggled to take in order to give you an idea without getting totally naked!) my c-section overhang has a bit of a way to go...

(By the way, that is not what my underwear looks like, I hate to unstuck everything and move it out of the way Grin)

MumOfAPickle · 24/03/2018 12:32

wayof We were in Gallery 1, I did consider the promenade tickets but I thought I'd get achey feet! Glad I didn't go down there, it looked amazing but I think I'd get distracted and keep worrying about where I should be standing!
And you look fab! If you work out how to get rid of c section overhang then you'll have to let me know. I suspect lots of abdominal exercise might be involved......

MumOfAPickle · 24/03/2018 12:34

yolo 3 stone is amazing! You should be very proud of yourself. athel sorry about your knee and double sorry for giggling a bit at the thought of all the animals!

Bluntness100 · 24/03/2018 13:22

Yolo yours looks much better than mine. I was pretty much cut hip bone to hip bone though due to some problems. and you can see it in my c section overhang.

I do do abdominal exercise but I don't think it will ever go totally unless I have pretty much no tummy fat. Right now I'm pretty much back in a ten to give context and this is what it still looks like. But it's no where near what it was on 1 JAN and at least a couple of stone heavier.

Scuse the gym gear pulled down.

LeapinLizards · 24/03/2018 14:05

wayof ski pics are amazing - really shows what progress you've made. I know nothing about the after effects of c-sections but I'd guess that the overhang might be last to go because of damage to the muscle. Pure speculation on my part, though.
And wow yolo at 3stone. Incredible loss!
Hope you feel better athel. Put the blip behind you & ignore it now. It's happened. Main thing is to get back on track rather than give in to the fuck-its which a hangover might make more likely.

ShagMeRiggins · 24/03/2018 14:15

Athelthwack

Stop eating rubbish and drinking too much. You’ve been doing it fairly regularly it seems and it:

A) doesn’t make you feel good physically

B) doesn’t make you feel good emotionally

C) doesn’t contribute to your health

D) helps you gain weight rather than lose it

Your life is worse, not better, when you do this. Be good to yourself. Flowers

Rshard · 24/03/2018 14:34

Excellent progress in the ski wear thewayof

I have one of those csection overhangs thewayof and bluntness, both your belly buttons look far better than mine, which gives me hope!

I’ve been to Bicester shopping today and at the risk of sounding completely shallow and materialistic really enjoyed it because I bought loads. In my chubbier past, I would have been miserable and fed up while dd and dh bought lovely things but today was different! Also found a dish in itsu with low carb noodles which was a bonus!

YoLoHogwomanay · 24/03/2018 16:55

wise words shagme Star

YoLoHogwomanay · 24/03/2018 16:56

thanks pickle

Grimbles · 24/03/2018 17:32

I've got an overhang and haven't had a C-section Grin. Just been for my 2nd C25K run, found it a bit more of a drag this time for some reason but I got through it again without dying. Food was possibly a bit off track today, we went to Byron and I had the fried chicken burger without the bun, with some guacamole, salad and halloumi fries. There was also a chilli mayo which might have had hidden sugars in it too. Planning an omlette for dinner tonight with some veg on the side

Lonesurvivor · 24/03/2018 17:33

Yolo 3 stone is amazing, well done!
As for the tummy pics I'd run around naked if my tummy looked like yersGrin

I had a lovely NSV today, as I increased weight my blood pressure increased. It was actually in the high range a few weeks ago. Today it was almost normal. That's after three weeks only of cutting out carbs!

Destinysdaughter · 24/03/2018 17:41

Hi all, weighed myself this morning and I'm 10 stone 9. Which means I've lost 17lbs since 3rd Jan. ( which is 10% of my body weight) Woo hoo! Of the 3 people I started my dieting competition with, my DP has lost 15 lbs, but he's got a long way to go as he needs to lose 3 stone and the other 2 have pretty much fallen off the wagon. None of them did low carb. I must admit, the competitive side of me was v motivated by this and I also wanted to prove to dis believers how effective this WOE can be. Is that a bit petty...? Grin

Grimbles · 24/03/2018 17:58

Rshard, it's a great feeling being able to go into most shops now knowing you will find something in your size. No more sticking to the same few places that you know might stock an 18 and having to spend ages looking for the few items they do have!

Grimbles · 24/03/2018 18:06

I've actually got a couple of questions if anyone is around to answer.

1). I actually enjoyed the egg fast! Would it cause any issues to do it every week for, say 3-4 days of the week? It is the perfect way to get the right combination of fat and protein into your diet. Would adding a bit of veg everyday be ok to do?

2). With my trip coming up, what's the best way to offset the eating of carbs - exercise was mentioned above, when's the best time to do it to ensure you are burning off the glucose?

Bluntness100 · 24/03/2018 18:07

Sometimes I also feel a little evangelical about this woe. I see posts on here a lot from folks saying they just can't give up sugar, cant lose weight, or others slagging it off and calling it no carb. When actually it's not no carb, you lose much of your appetite and you can give up sugar quite easily with it. For some reason folks don't want to believe it. Hmm.

Destinysdaughter · 24/03/2018 18:13

I first did this diet in 2002 when it was the Atkins diet. I couldn't believe the amount of ridicule and downright hostility I got at times, it was like I was a climate change denier! It is much better now but there is still a fair amount of suspicion around. Pisses me off tbh.
