Xin nian kuai le!

Happy Chinese New Year. We're in week 8, and 8 is considered a lucky number in Chinese, so hopefully this week will be a good one for us all Grin

Here's the spreadsheet

A very cold week is ahead of us, so hope you all stay warm and safe

We had Brussels sprouts this evening (fried in butter). I thought of prettybird but we didn't eat quite as many as she would have done Grin

BlackMozart · 28/02/2018 19:58

Evening good people. So many people doing so well, more laugh out loud moments I really look forward to logging on!
I have realised I am eating too much. I definitely am not hungry enough for three meals a day but am eating them all the same. It’s habit and hard to break. I think 16:8 could be the way forward but I also know I have said that before on here and also that I would cut out dairy...I have cut down dairy a lot, but not totally cut it out, and I definitely haven’t started 16:8. My problem is I do my thinking out loud, (and on here, sorry) but then don’t actually follow through. So I think I am going to have to be quiet until I have actually done something new worth reporting on rather than go round in circles.

BlackMozart · 28/02/2018 19:58

In good news I have made it through Drybuary and am very happy about that!

prettybird · 28/02/2018 20:23

SoMuchToBits - I haven't had any today Shock

I had courgette lasagne tonight resisted the temptation to do some brussels to accompany it Wink

But I have breached Drybruary again Blush on its last day as dh and I felt the need to cocoon ourselves in the house and enjoy a nice bottle of wine Wine while it snows outside. My veg beds are at risk of disappearing totally under the snow! Shock

Luckily, I stocked up the fridge at the beginning of the week with FLGV so I'm not having to go out into the snow and can improvise a few more meals without a lot of hassle. Food today pretty much the same as yesterday's, except that the stir fried green veg (sprouts, broccoli and little gem lettuce) were livened up with chilli flakes and a splash of soy sauce. I could eat that meal every day without getting bored.

Oh - and more excitement than my old-lady heart can possibly take at the moment, but I've got to share.... I've got a place on one of the James Martin cookery masterclasses on my cruise. That's as well as the demo/dinner - the poor man is going to think I'm stalking him. Well, erm.... I am giddy at the prospect Grin

Now all I have to do is get my passport sorted - I've been to the Passport Office twice so far, with another appointment booked for Friday, and each time they've asked for more documentation for me to prove I am who I say I am - I wish they'd told me everything at once and saved a whole load of trouble, but fingers crossed it'll get sorted on my next visit. Bloody snow doesn't help, but I'll walk there if I have to...!

SoMuchToBits · 28/02/2018 20:40

prettybird do you have Brussels in your veg beds? Wink Nice view of your garden.

We've had snow today too. Ds has been off school (no buses, and school advised people not to go in, although it wasn't technically closed, but they have closed it for tomorrow) and both my band rehearsals were cancelled.

Here's my garden (no veg beds in mine though).

Oh, and great news about your JM masterclass abbey!

prettybird · 28/02/2018 20:53

No veg beds - although I do have some cabbages that I didn't harvest overwintering WinkBlush

YoLoHogwomanay · 28/02/2018 20:54

I made some lovely HM chicken nuggets:

sliced chicken thigh dipped in beaten egg and then a crumb of: milled linseed and sesame, S &P, garlic powder, cayenne, chilli flakes, and a few cumin seeds, then deep fried until golden brown. made a dip of Greek yog, garlic mayo and smoked salt.

i also made some tempura broccoli out of broccoli florets dipped in a batter of egg, bicarb soda, dried coconut (didnt have the flour), garlic, S&P, Chinese 5spice, and chilli flakes. Do NOT attempt to make this. It was completely disgusting. No idea why. Bitter and foul. I picked off the batter and tried to only eat the broccoli. but it was tainted. bleurgh.

YoLoHogwomanay · 28/02/2018 21:00

I'm loving the snow pics. but not the actual snow.

LeapinLizards · 28/02/2018 21:01

It's been a challenging day and I have been tempted by the call of the carb. We've had so much snow that I can't make it to my annual get-together with my uni flat mates from yesteryear. I am gutted as it's a highlight of my year. Felt like dropping face first into a bag of crips but i didn't. Partly because I knew i'd feel furious with myself afterwards and partly because I recognised it was an emotional response rather than anything else. I have eaten a lot of LC stuff today instead, and not because I was hungry. But it's better than carbs.

I also resisted a drink even though I'm really scunnered because I didn't want to ruin an otherwise unblemished record for dry february. Halo Glad it's the last day, though.

LeapinLizards · 28/02/2018 21:03

abbey if more motivation was ever required then the James Martin class is it!

Nan0second · 28/02/2018 21:54

I reached my first mini goal this week too, which was BMI under 25.
My next mini goals are
Exercise twice a week
Weight 62kg (3more kg) and original target weight
Target weight 60kg

I have a small frame according to the wrist thing but actually quite wide hips and reasonable bust so I am going to aim for medium frame, which is also around the midpoint of the bmi range.

Food wise:
B creamy coffee
L chicken saag made with thighs
D coconut and ginger slow cooked pork shoulder off the menu thread with flgv

I’m mainly really proud of myself for doing 2 exercise classes this week. I am really unfit and have done almost nothing since I was 18 weeks pregnant with DD (now 2.5yrs) so this is a massive step for me

BerylStreep · 28/02/2018 22:32

No snow to speak of here yet, but very cold.

Today's food:

B. Coffee with AM&C
L. Chicken tikka pieces with crunchy fennel salad. Lidl Greek yoghurt and some blueberries
S. Cold pork belly slice. Coffee with AM&C
D. None

🤔 just realised I haven't actually had very much to eat today.

CointreauVersial · 28/02/2018 22:40

Nano - slow cooked pork shoulder sounds lush!

Meals today:

B - cheesy omelette
L - smoked mackerel and salad
D - baked mushrooms stuffed with spinach, cheese and cream cheese. And half a baked aubergine that needed eating!

BIWI · 28/02/2018 22:58

@ShagMeRiggins

It is, indeed, the rule. I think rule 11, that there are no secrets allowed on Bootcamp. Especially when it involves fantasies. You must confess all immediately.

Come on, Shag, 'fess up [evil face]

Yesterday's tentative snowed in day has turned into a definitely snowed in day. Can't get the car into the lane, wouldn't be able to get down the lane, road at the bottom closed anyway. Hoorah Grin

Have been sent a proposal, so will settle down for some serious reading and research in front of the fire instead.

Today will be mostly meat and broccolli, with chances of scattered butter.

Rshard · 01/03/2018 06:33

Pretty snowy here but Thursday is my working from home day so it’s all good.

Long busy day yesterday but I ate
B - scrambled eggs salmon avo
L - buttery sprouts and broccoli with Parmesan
D - 2 slices low carb bread and butter, rollitos

Not the best dinner but didn’t get home until 7.30 and am full of cold. I ignored dh’s pizza and wine

Almahart · 01/03/2018 08:03

NEWS NEWS NEWS!

Am 2ib down this morning! Thanks to all of you for kicking my butt. Am really thrilled

Like the scattered butter Athel

School closed but DH working from home today

I’m off to work in my new 2ib lighter body Grin

Almahart · 01/03/2018 08:04

By the way my first thought was oooh I can have a glass of wine or a piece of cake as a reward.

NO Alma. That’s what got you here in the first place you idiot!

Wh0KnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 01/03/2018 08:28

Just wanted to call in and say hello, even though I am not strictly on BC any more, I enjoy following the threads. I am pleased to be able to report a 100% dry February (and dry January).

Rshard · 01/03/2018 08:38

Awesome alma!

to whoknows!

Mimosa1 · 01/03/2018 08:50

Well done Alma! And hi again WhoKnows and well done on dryjanandfeb!

I've got a tricky few weeks coming up - a wedding, a week off work, two big bday celebrations then another holiday over Easter. All nice things but I'm sooo close to being under 70kg (though I have been yoyoing above and below 71 and have never seen that magic 69.99 yet) that I don't wan to derail. It's always the case I suppose that life gets in the way - and these are good things again! I think my plan is not to drink at the wedding - it's the first event to tackle - bc I can take or leave the booze but when I do drink, my food willpower goes out of the window. Interested to hear how others tackle big events?

Nan0second · 01/03/2018 08:59

Well done on the loss Alma :)
Mimosa: I’ve only done one (daytime) party since starting this. I didn’t drink as it doesn’t help my food choices either. I’m thinking a lot about maintenance at the moment even though I’m only half way with the weight loss and it’s these kind of things that make me wonder too! As you say, there’s always an excuse: somebody’s birthday, Easter, a party, wedding and Christmas - probably every week really so it’s about learning how to maintain this woe in a very sugary world
