Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!

Welcome to the week 4 thread of Bootcamp. I enjoyed the power of wielding BIWI’s big stick last week so much that I am staying on for another week. Grin Normal service will be returning next week.

So week three was great – as well as lots of impressive scale victories, there were loads of NSVs – bras moved to the next hook, colleagues commenting favourably, feeling as if there is more energy, along with err, some less orthodox NSVs such as smaller earlobes and re-emerging pubes. Grin

The thing that has really struck me is the number of posters who have lost significant weight over the last year, and are sticking with it and still seeing progress. That’s a fantastic inspiration to us all, and really shows how this WOE works long-term.

There are a number of posters who have committed to doing dry February (along with a few who are kicking a diet coke habit). This starts on Thursday, but it goes without saying that this is not an excuse to put as much away as possible before that! note to self

Thanks to BIWI who has been working hard on creating the Bootcamp recipe threads. There are loads of great ideas there to avoid menu boredom.

So KOKO, and good luck for the weigh in, but also remember the scales are only one indicator of progress. Here is the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

feekery my DH makes a breakfast thing in a muffin tin where he gets some bacon medallions, (flattened slightly between two sheets of cling film) 1 per ‘hole’ in the tin and wraps them into a cone shape, then tiny knob of butter in the bottom and break an egg into each. Bake in the oven for about 15 mins depending on your oven but at quite a high temp. If you did the night before you could let them cool and the yolk firm up and take one or two with you? In the IPD recipe book there are lots of ideas for ‘muffins’ using a mix of eggs and cream and then a filling of your choice - bacon, mushrooms, sausage, chorizo, Mediterranean veg etc. Again they are portable and can be frozen.

feekerry · 30/01/2018 19:46

I know Greggs do an omelette thing but I bet they don’t have any first thing as it won’t be a popular breakfast choice. I could get with a breakfast muffin idea... like that and similar to a bacon roll sort of!
And ye I could just pick the bacon out of the Greggs roll. Can’t imagine it would be the lowest carb bacon around but a nice way to still meet my work friends there and eat with them.
Thanks some ideas there to decide upon before Saturday. I swear I started getting fat the day Greggs opened next to my work (grin)

Feekerry Bring some romaine leaves in a plastic bag and have a bacon & lettuce sandwich? I have actually done this before

Abbey44 that is amazing progress - well done!

prettybird can I ask which Erythritol you use? I am looking on Amazon. Does it matter which I buy? Thks.

DakotaFanny · 30/01/2018 20:41

Wow! Thanks you so much guys- some really lovely suggestions!!! Hungry now!

prettybird · 30/01/2018 20:43

No idea: I've not actually tried it yet. Shock

I just bought the cheapest one that seemed to have good reviews. Wink

I decided my 2 Burns Suppers were carby enough without tempting myself with further baking. Blush

Scabbersley · 30/01/2018 20:53

I've just broken a tooth eating pork scratchings #thestruggleisreal Sad

TitusAndromedon · 30/01/2018 20:57

I made a fathead pizza and it is so delicious.

ShagMeRiggins · 30/01/2018 21:02

thestruggleisreal

Ashamed to admit I silent-snorted (possibly mild expelling of amuses air through nose?) before realising you actually broke a tooth.

Very sorry to hear it, that’s terrible. Sad

Scabbersley · 30/01/2018 21:03

Actually broke the side off a bottom molar Sad it feels really weird

Could this be the first bootcamp related dentistry issue??

nekobus · 30/01/2018 21:07

Eek! Not good scabbers, hope it's not to hard to get fixed!

BerylStreep · 30/01/2018 21:30

Oh dear scabbersly!

I'm technically only in week 1 so just wondering if this is normal, but I feel really tired and I'm hungry, not feeling totally satisfied. I'm not sure if I'm just craving something sweet - I used to have a mid afternoon snack of a cereal bar and maybe something like a jelly pot in the evening.

Today I've had oatmeal for breakfast, pork crop, 2 boiled eggs and salad for lunch and chicken thighs, mushrooms, spinach and green beans. But I'm ready for bed now. I did manage a 20 minute swim earlier. I'm trying to stay awake but am looking forward to bed. Is that normal?

ilovecherries · 30/01/2018 21:39

There was a poor woman who shattered a tooth on a pork scratching on the May bootcamp. She disappeared and never came back. Don't let that be you, Scabbers! I could never stomach pork scratching anyway, and her experience put me right off.

littleladylawyer · 30/01/2018 21:52

Fab pictures ilove and shagme!

I've been feeling all bloaty and a bit down as I ate way too much over the weekend. It was low carb but I really need to work on eating mindfully and not stuffing myself until I'm over- full. During the week I'm fine, but at weekends I struggle and go over the top.

Catching up with the thread and hearing everyone's successes has made me feel much more positive, so thank you all Smile

SayrraT · 30/01/2018 22:00

venus oatmeal is not low carb, did you add any fat to your veg or oil in your salad? You might be needing more fat, if you are hungry you should eat.

I don't remember the broken tooth but remember C4 inhaled one!

Excellent pictures earlier, I agree about the amazing hair comments and wow fantastic weight loss, can't remember who commented on the boobs but they are right. They look fantastic!

Just back from a training session at pole, I think I've forgotten how to do everything!

Delicious asparagus and bacon for dinner (plenty of butter added) plus got asparagus and kale sorted for lunch.

prettybird · 30/01/2018 22:01

VenusStarr - quick look at what you're eating and two things jump out: 1) oatmeal is not allowed on Boot Camp and 2) it doesn't look like you're having nearly enough fat, so no wonder you are feeling hungry.

Have you read the Rules? They're both in the OP of the Week 1 thread and in one of the tabs of the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

BlackMozart · 30/01/2018 22:09

dakota here is the recipe. You might be able to substitute erythritol for the sugar here but as you will have seen I haven’t yet bought this so I can’t say how it would work. There is 50g of sugar for 6 people so you might just go with the real thing?

BlackMozart · 30/01/2018 22:11

Ok I can see that recipe isn’t clear. I’ll take some smaller photos and try again

ThunderboltsLightning · 30/01/2018 22:12

@prettybird i had to chuckle when you got your classic buttery brussels into that menu! I always think of you when i make them now.

VenusStarr · 30/01/2018 22:12

Thank you. I've logged my food on my fitbit and it says I've had 11% carbs (oatmeal) and 55% fat today. I think I'm a bit scared to eat too much fat, feel like I've had lots of fat today (a lot of cheese)

I'll take another look at the spreadsheet. I'll go back to Greek yoghurt for breakfast, was finding it a bit bland.

Am I tired because I'm not eating enough?
