Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!

BerylStreep · 28/01/2018 22:20

Welcome to the week 4 thread of Bootcamp. I enjoyed the power of wielding BIWI’s big stick last week so much that I am staying on for another week. Grin Normal service will be returning next week.

So week three was great – as well as lots of impressive scale victories, there were loads of NSVs – bras moved to the next hook, colleagues commenting favourably, feeling as if there is more energy, along with err, some less orthodox NSVs such as smaller earlobes and re-emerging pubes. Grin

The thing that has really struck me is the number of posters who have lost significant weight over the last year, and are sticking with it and still seeing progress. That’s a fantastic inspiration to us all, and really shows how this WOE works long-term.

There are a number of posters who have committed to doing dry February (along with a few who are kicking a diet coke habit). This starts on Thursday, but it goes without saying that this is not an excuse to put as much away as possible before that! note to self

Thanks to BIWI who has been working hard on creating the Bootcamp recipe threads. There are loads of great ideas there to avoid menu boredom.

So KOKO, and good luck for the weigh in, but also remember the scales are only one indicator of progress. Here is the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

Thanks all!
I'm feeling surprisingly pragmatic about it all! I literally broke my fall with my face, so I'm actually amazed I haven't done more damage.
My nose and eyes are becoming pretty bruised and I've had a couple of nosebleeds. It's possible I've broken my nose, but it's not out of place so there's nothing to do about it.
(I am a HCP so I'm not just being blasé!)

Mimosa1 · 03/02/2018 22:28

Yikes feel better RangeRover that sounds awful and such a shock on top of being painful.

Im another who like the seedlings with soda water and a twist of lime. I have a very fancy baccarat glass - no idea how I acquired, I think it was my dad's - that i enjoy using for a mocktail.

Im pleased to report that I can now do up a size 32 waist jeans that I couldn't go up in November. They are from GAp and don't have any stretch so really pleased BUT I saw a really unflattering photo of me taken last week and feeling a bit down in the mouth about it as I've lost so much weight - 25lbs - in 7 months and still quite far to go. Still the time is going to go by anyway so I might as well be improving along the way. And I should focus on the positive NSV! Second one on top of an old coat doing up.

I hope everyone who is having a tough week has a better one ahead coming up.

BlackMozart · 03/02/2018 23:10

Rangerover v sorry to hear that and hope you recover quickly. And scabbersley too I hope you can get an early appointment.

That Seedlip is ridiculously priced. I told my gin loving DB and he was admiring of how they came up with that pricing when it is non-alcoholic! Crazy. The bottles look beautiful though but given some people don’t like it I think I’m going to hang fire for now. DB and I were going to buy one each of the flavours and share but perhaps not.

abbey44 · 04/02/2018 00:01

I'm in the 'meh' brigade with the Seedlip - I'd been looking forward to it as well, but I thought it was a bit flavourless really. And £26 😮😮. Top marks to their marketing people.

On the other hand, I do like the Twinings Buttermint tea bags, so not all bad.

MumOfAPickle · 04/02/2018 00:29

Food today:
B: 2 eggs scrambled with butter
L: leftover lamb curry with green beans and spinach
D: lamb chops with salad and garlic &herb butter
S: chicken wings, 3xhomemade low carb choc truffles, small amount of low carb flax seed bread (came out well, much better than the cloud bread)

Also drank loads of tea! Thanks for the recommendations, I found the buttermint tea in waitrose and they also had teapigs on offer so I got some rhubarb and ginger of those and Waitrose own spiced rooibos and cacao. All v.nice and the buttermint smells exactly like Murray mints - bloody lush!

GrandOldDukeOfPorkiness · 04/02/2018 05:45

I knew it was to be expected, after those two days of excessive funeral carbing, and it was a bit silly to think that just 2 days back on the WOE would have undone it all, but I am 2lbs heavier this morning. So it looks like I’ll be recording a gain tomorrow.

Twoo · 04/02/2018 07:38

Black’ good call. Seedlip also takes the fix out of the tonic. I think it’s the oiliness. For those interested or who already like it. Amazon have it at £20 on a Prime. Mines still going back though.

Abbey’ I agree. Butter mint tea is luvly Grin

littleladylawyer · 04/02/2018 08:45

GrandOldDuke I'm sure the 2lb is just water/fluctuations-please be kind to yourself, the most important thing is that you've got straight back on the wagon in really tough circumstances.

I'm in the car on my way to the airport- can't wait to be in the mountains Smile any recommendations for lunch to buy at Gatwick?

BerylStreep · 04/02/2018 09:14

Littleladylawyer are you going skiing?

OP posts:
littleladylawyer · 04/02/2018 09:43

Yes Beryl, off to Val d'Isere for a week. I'm hoping the increased exercise will make up for the drinking! Hoping to stick mostly on plan, but not going to worry too much if I have the odd treat as long as it's something genuinely worth it!

YoLoHogwomanay · 04/02/2018 09:52

morning all. I saw a new number on the scales yesterday so here's hoping it sticks for tomorrow. I'm not fixating on the scales though. That way madness lies and carby twatness .

This is the one where they ignored the scales, remember!

BIWI · 04/02/2018 09:53

Depends which terminal you're going to, @littleladylawyer

In one, there's a Nando's - not perhaps your usual breakfast fare! But you can usually get reasonably low carb stuff there

I think there's a Pret too, so you can navigate your way around their range

Otherwise, just try and go for a fry up, avoiding the usual suspects.

More importantly, have a great time!

prettybird · 04/02/2018 10:32

I'm so Envy of you going skiing littleladylawyer - unless I win the lottery, this will be another year that we don't get away Sad

Hope you have a fabulous time. How are the salopettes fitting? Wink

Rshard · 04/02/2018 11:23

Enjoy your ski trip littleladylawyer

Rshard · 04/02/2018 11:26

Dh is going to start this woe!

I looked on the spreadsheet for bok Choi but couldn’t see it - is it low carb? I presumed similar to cabbage??

TheWayOfTheWorld · 04/02/2018 11:28

Ouch Scabbersley!

I investigated the Seedlip when doing my online shop but it had mixed reviews and I am not a huge gin fan, so didn't get it in the end.

littleladylawyer have a great time skiing! Will be interested to know how you get on with LCHF, 2 months before I go so will be watching for tips! Grin

Yesterday's food:

B: mushrooms, spinach and bacon fried in butter, with a creamy coffee
L: small piece of the birthday cake I made for my son. I didn't have anything else (and actually it didn't seem to trigger any cravings for more but it was still a one off)
D: was at my friend's for dinner. Started with radicchio salad, braised pork with spinach and a milk sauce for main and pudding he got me a choc mousse. I had a couple of spoons. I also had 1/2 glass of fizz and 1/2 glass of red. Am suffering for it today, feel like I've got a hangover Confused

Twoo · 04/02/2018 11:58

Have fun Little’ , never been skiing myself but would like to try boarding or whatever it’s called.

My earlier post should read takes fizz out of tonic.

Rshard May DH is too. Now he’s seen how satisfied and satiated I am, without calorie counting, and that the results are comin* slow and steady. However is he one to procrastinate. Only today, not for the first time, hes said ‘I’ll start tomorrow’. I hope he does but I ain’t nagging him too.

SayrraT · 04/02/2018 12:02

rshard 2.2kg per 100g I'll add it to the spreadsheet.
