Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!

BerylStreep · 28/01/2018 22:20

Welcome to the week 4 thread of Bootcamp. I enjoyed the power of wielding BIWI’s big stick last week so much that I am staying on for another week. Grin Normal service will be returning next week.

So week three was great – as well as lots of impressive scale victories, there were loads of NSVs – bras moved to the next hook, colleagues commenting favourably, feeling as if there is more energy, along with err, some less orthodox NSVs such as smaller earlobes and re-emerging pubes. Grin

The thing that has really struck me is the number of posters who have lost significant weight over the last year, and are sticking with it and still seeing progress. That’s a fantastic inspiration to us all, and really shows how this WOE works long-term.

There are a number of posters who have committed to doing dry February (along with a few who are kicking a diet coke habit). This starts on Thursday, but it goes without saying that this is not an excuse to put as much away as possible before that! note to self

Thanks to BIWI who has been working hard on creating the Bootcamp recipe threads. There are loads of great ideas there to avoid menu boredom.

So KOKO, and good luck for the weigh in, but also remember the scales are only one indicator of progress. Here is the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

BlackMozart thanks for your suggestions, they're great!

BlackMozart · 01/02/2018 20:48

I can stand at a coffee shop counter now as at the station today and when I see the pastries, croissants, cookies and brownies etc I have no interest in them at all and don’t feel deprived. I just see processed rubbish that’s been sitting there for hours that will offer my body nothing of value. This is a good new feeling.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/02/2018 20:55

Amen.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/02/2018 20:58

Always, I'm beginning to get a real buzz after eating steak and butter - as you say, a lovely smiley warm feeling. Clearly the body does in fact have some mood regulators to encourage you to eat/reward you for eating what you need.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/02/2018 21:01

Brassica, I would have thought that's a bit high - is there a lot of sugar in the pickling fluid? Mind you, I guess you're not going to eat 100's and 100's of grams of them... are you...?

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 01/02/2018 21:06

I don't know about the gherkins that BrassicaBabe is referring to but I make my own pickled gherkins with cucumber, garlic, salt and red pepper flakes.

BlackMozart · 01/02/2018 21:23

That’s made me think about rollmop herring. I think I’m going to have to search to see if there are some that fit into this woe.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/02/2018 21:26

I wish, BlackMozart, but every shop I've looked in has ridiculously high sugar for what essentially should be just fish. Sad

nekobus · 01/02/2018 21:27

Badly thanks for the warning - I need to see what the carb counts are on the frozen garlic and ginger I use (sometimes liberally!) for curries etc. Didn't even think to look Blush

Black I got my seedlip at ocado, haven't seen it in the supermarket. Although noticed they serve it a pizza express of all places!

So true that this WOE does help you look at some of the underlying issues with overeating (presumably why we are all a heavier weight than we would like) and the support on here is amazing. Smile

I treated myself to a new water bottle too - was in Aldi and they had one with an insert where you can put fruit etc. I've been having cucumber and lime slices, helps me get the water down.

Today's food:
B - vanilla coyo
L - cauli rice with courgette and bacon and feta on top.
D - roast chicken pieces, broccoli and sprouts (can't stop making microwave buttery sprouts!)
S - creamy coffee, 2 babybel
W 2.5L

BlackMozart · 01/02/2018 21:57

What a bummer! I was literally salivating at the prospect of rollmop herring Sad

AveAtqueVale · 01/02/2018 22:13

Helloo - I’m sidling back. Have had a bit of a crap week involving carby twatdom and a minor mental health crisis. Now on an increased dose of medication which I suspect will make me retain a couple of extra lbs of water but after an initial gain should be able to keep losing. Have decided to stop daily weighing though as though it was working really well for me last bootcamp atm I’m finding myself not coping well with the daily pressure at the moment because I’m a twat. Have decided to try to log food on here for February though to see if that makes me a bit better - will try to be honest!

B: creamy coffee, leftover saag paneer and lamb curry
L: microwaved brussel sprouts with cheese, mayo and soy sauce (soy sauce was a bad idea- not repeating that), the bottom cm of a chocolate penguin left from Christmas
D: More brussel sprouts with mince and grated cheese.
Lots of water but poss not enough - need to get back to measuring it.

prettybird · 01/02/2018 22:14

I wonder if Lidl has noticed an upsurge in the sale of brussels and celeriac Wink

nekobus · 01/02/2018 22:18

I was so excited when my local Aldi started selling celeriac, and the lovely young chap on the till was telling me he'd never seen one before Grin

GailLondon · 01/02/2018 22:19

I got my Seedlip from Tesco when it was on offer for £20.
It’s also on Amazon Prime! Prices seem to fluctuate up and down a lot on Amazon. And they sometimes have the smaller 200ml bottles if you don’t want to go straight in for the full size 700ml.

It’s quite pricy but it’s got me through many an evening where I would have otherwise cracked and got out the wine!

BlackMozart · 01/02/2018 23:02

Thanks for the suggestions gail I will go in search. It would be nice to have something to hand if the urge for a glass of the prohibited stuff gets too strong. Wink

BlackMozart · 01/02/2018 23:04

One day of Drybuary down. 27 to go! Hope will all got through it ok. 🤞

BerylStreep · 01/02/2018 23:05

Weighed this morning and i am still 0.5lb up from where i was before my carby twat episode. It really will make me think carefully about any other transgressions, as i've lost almost a week.

I am pleased that i haven't continued with the Fuck Its this week though. Having said that, i've noticed that i'm forgetting to record my food jnto myfitnesspal quite often this week. I clearly only sing when i'm winning and lose interest when things aren't going the way i want. Hmmm....

YoLoHogwomanay · 02/02/2018 00:49

thunder it's taken me pretty much the whole of January to get past the weight gained in ONE WEEK over Christmas. And i didnt even eat/drink much that week at all. but it got easier to allow myself just one more non plan thing the more that week wore on. i am so not a Moderator! lesson learned for me. Glad you got back on the horse and you'll be winning again soon!

Ave you are not a twat. That type of self loathing is what we are trying to overcome. It is counter productive. We all make bad choices sometimes. What is done is done. And all we can do is move on, forgive ourselves and try and make better choices next time. Sorry to hear you've had a minor meltdown. What can we do here to help?

StuntNun · 02/02/2018 07:07

I buy Seedlip Spice from Amazon, it's £20 at the moment linky and it tastes like botanical gin. It's a little stronger in flavour than Bombay Sapphire so you can use a smaller amount to get the same effect. Even better it's carb-free as well as alcohol-free. I don't like the Garden one which has more of a grassy flavour to it.

BerylStreep · 02/02/2018 07:56

Great post YoLo

Ooh look, low carb pasta! It's actually made from chickpea flour. Wonder if you can get it in the UK?

Alwaysinmyheart · 02/02/2018 08:56

Yes you can get it here! Still pretty high in carbs but may be good for maintenance?
