Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!

Welcome to the week 4 thread of Bootcamp. I enjoyed the power of wielding BIWI’s big stick last week so much that I am staying on for another week. Grin Normal service will be returning next week.

So week three was great – as well as lots of impressive scale victories, there were loads of NSVs – bras moved to the next hook, colleagues commenting favourably, feeling as if there is more energy, along with err, some less orthodox NSVs such as smaller earlobes and re-emerging pubes. Grin

The thing that has really struck me is the number of posters who have lost significant weight over the last year, and are sticking with it and still seeing progress. That’s a fantastic inspiration to us all, and really shows how this WOE works long-term.

There are a number of posters who have committed to doing dry February (along with a few who are kicking a diet coke habit). This starts on Thursday, but it goes without saying that this is not an excuse to put as much away as possible before that! note to self

Thanks to BIWI who has been working hard on creating the Bootcamp recipe threads. There are loads of great ideas there to avoid menu boredom.

So KOKO, and good luck for the weigh in, but also remember the scales are only one indicator of progress. Here is the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

Great advice from stunt and cherries re stalling.

For lunch I've got a ham, cheese, lettuce and Mayo sarnie using the lighter life bread. I think it's 3.9 g carbs per slice. Does this sound OK to have occasionally as just fancied something other than just salad and easy to take to work?

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 31/01/2018 12:11

'Schroedinger's Blubber'.

You rang? Smile

Gammeldragz · 31/01/2018 12:28

Afternoon all, haven't caught up as I'm at a spa day (spa Virgin) with my cousin but she's in having a massage. I've been in the steam room, jacuzzi and swum for a bit. Had a black coffee on arrival and declined the free homemade cookie. Halo
Breakfast was a creamy coffee and I've ordered steak with salad for lunch.

Yesterday's food was very good apart from the tastes of cake mix and icing...

Rshard · 31/01/2018 13:47

Your spa day sounds lovely ragz

I made gratin, it was nice served it with some bresaola

oh poo. I posted a long and witty and hopefully helpful reply to the grumpers and sulkers but lost it.

in brief: stick with it. follow the rules. you won't regret it. otherwise it's lfhc and constant hunger misery.

And read prettybird's posts. if they aren't a shining example of this WOE I will eat my hat. which isn't lc. so don't make me do it!

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 31/01/2018 14:34

I sympathise. I write witty posts all the time but my computer just posts rubbish. It is obviously out to sabotage my reputation as being clever and good with the bon mots.

YoLoHogwomanay · 31/01/2018 14:35

I now see that stuntnun has jumped in with her as always excellent advice.

another tip i would add is that if you don't believe the ups and downs and plateaux then go back through the threads and look at the graphs people have posted. full of mountains and valleys but an overall downward trend.

YoLoHogwomanay · 31/01/2018 14:37

thing is, lizard I can pretend it was clever and erudite and scintillating because you'll never see it!!

BIWI · 31/01/2018 14:39

Of course it was ... Grin

Pukka chocolate mint teabags

Can someone please point me to a link where I can buy these? I have looked on the Internet but can find only triple mint, not chocolate mint.

Thank you!

prettybird · 31/01/2018 15:50

Blush YoLo

I have only picked up - and repeat - what others have said on here. Nowt original in what I say - it's just the accumulated wisdom of BootCampers. Smile

I always love the posts from StuntNun - she always explains the science of HFLC so well which I am not able to do . And no-one wields The Big Stick like BIWI (although Beryl is coming close Wink).

We are a community - we support each other, we learn from each other and we inspire each other. Flowers

AthelstaneTheUnready · 31/01/2018 16:30

Thanks, all - much appreciated. I am well and truly over myself now Blush.

So... the NSVs I was too grumpy to post are pretty damn good, actually:

  1. My cellulite is disappearing. From being all over my arse and thighs, it's now just two patches on each buttock. Could it be possible it will go entirely? Shock
  1. I AM building muscle. I put something in my back pocket going upstairs yesterday and actually felt serious muscle movement instead of just flab. Have been walking around holding one buttock ever since, just because.
  1. Much more stable mood - yesterday I found out I hadn't got either job I had put in for. Instead of self-loathing and wine, I felt dispirited for a bit, and then remembered all the other potentials I'm looking at and genuinely felt ok about having to try multiple times, instead of gloom because I failed the first time.

I beg your pardon Schrodinger they are Teapigs chocolate mint teabags not Pukka. They are utterly divine. The Mighty Leaf used to do a chocolate mint truffle but they have stopped selling it the barstewards so this is the next best thing.

YoLoHogwomanay · 31/01/2018 18:14

I think this bootcamp should be:

The One Where We Ignored the Scales

I include myself here. Let's just all tell the Scales to fuck off. We don't care what number you show us because:
We know we are slimmer
We feel better
We look better
We are more in control of our lives (and food)
We are wearing smaller clothes
We can climb the stairs without having a stroke
We can get a PB running
We have enough confidence to wear red lippy and win contracts
We sleep better
We eat better
We don't get monthly cramps or headaches so much
We aren't bloated
We love our food (almost all of us)
We identify and manage emotional triggers
We bore people with the rationale of this WOE until they are browbeaten into joining us Wink
.......

etc etc

Add your own. We need positivity today!

Well done Athel for turning it around. And your NSVs are great! I love the new buttock related NN shagme. almost as good as yours!

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 31/01/2018 18:36

Thank you, stuntnun!

Off to look at them now.

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 31/01/2018 18:44

I have just ordered them from Amazon. I can't wait - I Iove After Eights so this should help with the chocolate mint sugar cravings.

does a victory lap around my previous fat clothes

Alwaysinmyheart · 31/01/2018 19:11

Also, does anyone's skin feel softer? I know mine does. I've often thought it odd that we put butters, creams and oils ON our skin, but never think to actually eat it to improve our skin!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 31/01/2018 19:16

Yep, mine does Always - all over, including my face. My hands look so much less wrinkled, and the nails are stronger and whiter. I like to stroke my nice hands now...

Also, my teeth are improving. I had some very noticeable stained dents on one of my front teeth, and the colour has almost disappeared and I would SWEAR the dent is significantly smaller too. Better nutrition, we love it.

Note to self: only pat bits of your body in your own house, NOT outside.

mrsglowglow · 31/01/2018 19:19

I thought i was imagining it but yes skin, hair nails all look and feel so much healthier. And teeth! 😇

AthelstaneTheUnready · 31/01/2018 19:31

God I sound like a catch, with the dodgy teeth, wrinkled hands, and cellulite

I am going to be SO sexy by Summer! Rawr!

YoLoHogwomanay · 31/01/2018 19:52

loving the energy you are bringing to the thread tonight Athel and Lizard compared to this morning Grin

I've said this many times before but in case you weren't there: BC changed my life

I learned to care about myself which I hadn't done for 20 years. And post relationship break up, this was exactly what i needed. And I am on this WOE forever. I simply cannot see a reason why I wouldn't want to be bar the cakes and chocolate and pastries . I am a recovering sugar addict and my name is YoLo Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 31/01/2018 19:56

I love how YoLo gives Bootcamp Friends episode titles.

Athelstane, not to derail the thread, but this has been driving me nuts...wasn’t it Ethelred who was Unready?

Daughter was thrown from her horse tonight while doing a cantering jump. She’s only been riding a year and this is her second fall (first was more of a sliding gracefully to the ground rather than a full on overhead pitch). I am now mindfully Hmm glugging sipping a vodka tonic with lime.

And breathe. Not to worry, I have a lovely Taco salad planned for tonight and have no intention of going far off piste. Must catch up on water though, still 500 ml to go.

**it’s actually the riding school’s horse. As if.
