New Year, New Start Week 2: This WoE works!

Welcome to Week 2 - the one where many of us (especially the newbies) will see the biggest drops. For those that don't, the drops will come. We will have seen other benefits too: brighter eyes, smaller waist (with the reduction of dangerous visceral fat from around our organs) - and all without feeling hungry Smile Week 2 is also when I find that my pschological urge to snack reduces.

Remember that you still need to adhere to the Rules. This is not a forgiving Way of Eating and if you cheat, you will set back the process of getting your body to adapt to fat burning. Only one more week of being ultra strict - it is only one more week Smile If you're thinking of cheating, come on here and we will talk you down. It really helps if you are prepared and have low carb snacks with you, or drink some water when you think you are hungry.

Keep drinking the required water ( StuntNun has explained why this is important). Avoid nuts and seeds (unless you are veggie), all fruit (you can look forward to the odd treat of berries from next week) - and no alcohol or artificial sweetender for another week.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here to remind you to keep to the straight and narrow with the Rules and with resources to advise you. You can weigh-in if you choose to, but it is not compulsory. Over the weeks, your weight loss will start to average 1-2lb a week, sometimes more sometimes less .

The Week 1 Spillover thread is here.

Great discipline whoknows 👏
nekobus that flatbread looks great.
Big thanks to prettybird and now Beryl for keeping this all going.
I am going to have to stay on strict bootcamp as with the trouble this week I have been a bit indisciplined.

prettybird · 20/01/2018 19:14

LeapinLizard - it was a clearance offer in Sainsbury's. They also had a slightly smaller Morphy Richards one (without a blender) for only (iirc) £16 Shock - reduced to a third of its original price.

Anyone else feeling a little ‘demob’ happy and fighting the ‘oh go on, you’ve just done two weeks of being on track!’? I’ve clealry underestimated how much of this is an attitude adjustment and I’ve got to really start eating more mindfully and enjoying what I eat. I think there’s still a little bit of me that thinks I’m deprived. When I’m not. I feel healthier, my clothes fit better, and the food is yum. Think I’ll stick with BC with an occasional nibble of nuts or 90%choc from Monday on.

BlackMozart · 20/01/2018 19:19

Yes prettybird I completely agree with you and your DH. I don’t know why I even bought the PG because it is not a wine I ever normally choose. The stupid thing is I have 6 bottles of a reasonably expensive and gorgeous Californian Riesling that I had at the work Christmas do so what I should have done is tried that. Ho hum, I told myself I am saving that for my birthday in March.
Back to the grindstone of serious bootcamp. (Slinks off feeling slightly irritated by my poor choice).

ThunderboltsLightning · 20/01/2018 19:36

I'm going to keep it quite strict too. I don't really like nuts anyway and i've coped without the berries in my greek yoghurt.

I'm so pleased with how this is going, i'm just dreading the weightloss stopping. I've struggled to manage 1lb per week loss over the last few years and it's so demoralising. To be losing 2-3 per week feels amazing!

prettybird · 20/01/2018 19:43

PennyMise - I have been prowling the house today feeling demon happy. I have come this close to having a square of Lindt dark chocolate on numerous occasions and/or some almonds or macadamia nuts

However, the fact that I am currently the Big Stick Holder constrained me. I felt that I couldn't be a hypocrite Wink - so that kept me on the straight and narrow Grin so I don't need to self flagellate Wink

Thunderbolts - even this WoE may end up averaging 1lb/week (sometimes less, occasionally more) BUT the difference is that you can achieve this without feeling hungry and without the misery of constant calorie counting.

I'm hoping for a loss of 5lb a month to meet my 16 May target - but I'll also accept 1lb/week (or less) will still be a fantastic achievement. Smile

1lb/week over a year is still nearly 4 stone! Shock

@nekobus that looks really good. I noticed the author used coconut flour. I’m not sure how much I like coconut flour. It always tastes way too coconutty for me. How was the final result? Did the garlic (mercifully) overpower it?

JingsMahBucket · 20/01/2018 20:01

@nekobus did you use parchment paper on your cookie sheet as well? I’m concerned about sticking. Thank you.

prettybird · 20/01/2018 20:06

Jings - the turkey schnitzel I made from TK's recipe book used some coconut flour. Didn't taste it at all: probably overwhelmed by the Parmesan and onion granules that were also in the coating Grin

We were going to go out for dinner (with the primary school aged DC) only to discover everyone else had been more organised than us so the bookable restaurants were full and the Wagamama/Nando type places had stupidly long queues. The only take away option near us really is Dominos so DH puts and order in. I don't mind as I am immediately salivating at the thought of the avocado, feta & salmon salad I can make myself. I am, though, surprised that DH asks what I want and, when I mention that I'm not eating carbs, looks a bit confused. He hadn't noticed! To be fair we only eat together in the evening & we often don't eat carbs then anyway. His only comment was "is that why the fridge is so full of weird vegetables".

Yes, despite my earlier comment about sticking on proper Bootcamp, I, too, am feeling demob happy. I just keep reminding myself of how broad my backside looked in the mirror yesterday.

YoLoHogwomanay · 20/01/2018 20:24

rshard Shock my goodness. poor you!

Thank you to prettybird for the last 2 weeks. you have done an amazing job!! good luck beryl!

RaindropsAndSparkles · 20/01/2018 20:31

Ah well Blackmozart we have been bad together. I had two rashers and an egg for breakfast. Then I rushed all over the place and must have dine 15k steps getting home via Sainsbury's at 6.30.

Forgive me father Biwi I have sinned. Before dinner I had two mini sushi rolls left by dd because they had avocado in them. I thought about eating just the avocado and smoked salmon Sad.

Then dinner was two spoons chilli (beans removed), salad of spinach, watercress, rocket, toms and cu. No rice. And then DH opened a lovely bottle of Languedoc pink and I didn't demur. SadSad

JingsMahBucket · 20/01/2018 20:35

@prettybird LOL. This is exactly what I’m hoping for!

On a different note, how do we feel about chia seeds? I want to start adding some to my yoghurt for extra fiber. Are we allowed that strict BC?

prettybird · 20/01/2018 20:39

Raindrops - NOT good enough. You only had to resist for two more days Shock Was it really worth it? Did you really enjoy it?

According to dh, some rosés tend to have some residual sugar (although a few are properly dry) so you need to be careful about the carbs in them. Hmm

RaindropsAndSparkles · 20/01/2018 20:42

I'm sorry prettybird. If it helps bring on a poo, I could lose half a stone Shock

prettybird · 20/01/2018 20:45

Someone apparently did that once! ShockShock

Iirc, it was a post-Christmas excess poo! ConfusedHmm

BlackMozart · 20/01/2018 20:48

raindrops we will sit in the naughty corner together with only lots of water, and buttered Brussels spouts to sustain us. Wink [embarrassed]

Tomorrow is my new first day of sticking to the rules.

BlackMozart · 20/01/2018 20:48

That would be Blush

BlackMozart · 20/01/2018 20:49

And sprouts not spouts...

Alwaysinmyheart · 20/01/2018 20:51

Ooh pp's resolves are crumbling! I had some wine last night and felt bad this morning, horrible hangover! So had 2 gin n tonics tonight to make myself feel better!

Am not drinking all week now, it's such a slippery slope! ( have still lost 9lbs tho and will KOKO) 😀

RaindropsAndSparkles · 20/01/2018 20:51

I love brand new starts.

prettybird · 20/01/2018 21:01

Harrumph. Only two days to go and you lot let me down Hmm

Let your indiscretions be a lesson to us all. Alcohol is a slippery slope leading to more alcohol and/or carby twatdom.

Avoiding it for the 2 weeks also teaches you that you don't need alcohol and when you do have it, you appreciate it. Make it worth drinking.

Your body deserves the best.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 20/01/2018 21:28

prettybird if it makes you feel better I am definitely in ketosis. Cooking dinner with DH and he asks if I've been doing my nails, because he can smell acetone. Uhm, no I haven't.

"You must be ketotic" (he's a doctor so can't use laymans terms Hmm).

So woohoo!

prettybird · 20/01/2018 21:35

Grin TheWayOfTheWorld Maybe you need to have some bouillon/Bovril rather than wine Wink and/or chew some parsley. Smile
