Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

Oh cafe glad to hear you're feeling a bit better.
Biwi - enjoy your holiday

I'm afraid I was a carbytwat yesterday. I was invited to some friends at 8.30 last night and assumed it was a late dinner (they're from the from the contient and just assumed they were more sophisticated) so didn't eat beforehand, but they only served wine, chocolate and crisps. I drank water and avoided the chocs but was ravenous and ate a huge bowl of crisps, aaargh. That's the trouble with them, can't stop at a few. We had a lot of laughs though but hoping it won't be too unpleasant on the scales. Have had a lovely breakfast of pancetta and eggs so back on the woe now. Aaargh.

Scabbersley · 28/10/2017 09:45

Urgh. First period for about 3 months here, heavy painful and yuck. Was hoping I'd got to the end (I'm 51). So that, along with carby twatness earlier in the week, will probably mean a gain or at least nothing lost this week. Hey ho. Feeling ridiculously sorry for myself and longing to go back to bed with a creamy coffee and a hot water bottle.

Mimosa1 · 28/10/2017 09:46

More sophisticated than me I mean! Cause they're all European and glamorous lol.

TempusEejit · 28/10/2017 10:11

Almahart that sucks big time, did you manage to rescue any of your food?

Safe journey BIWI

Mimosa might be worth always carrying round an emergency packet of almonds so you never get caught out (or any nuts you're not quite so keen on if you're worried almonds or whatever would wink at you all day)? Hope you had a nice evening though.

Hello everyone else (there's just way too much to keep up with on this thread - tbh it often puts me off from posting because I'm worried I'll offend people by not acknowledging them - but no offence intended!). Hope you all have a good weekend Smile

CremeDeSudo · 28/10/2017 10:21

In West Wales with crap signal for the weekend so haven't RTFT but checking in to say I'm on the celeriac bandwagon - took some of my pregrated with us and fried it in butter with grated cheese this morning. Lush Smile had it with bacon, egg and avocado and a creamy coffee. Love this diet Grin

ASDismynormality · 28/10/2017 10:45

I went away for a few days, a combo of too much food (low carb) and not enough water = a gain. Fingers crossed it goes back down soon!

Mimosa1 · 28/10/2017 10:46

Tempus that's really clever, thanks and do post away! I'm going back to work in a couple of weeks and prob won't be able to post during the day but will still find the thread invaluable :)

SoMuchToBits · 28/10/2017 11:13

I also like the idea of taking emergency snacks out for when you don't know if there will be any suitable food (or any at all!).

Nuts are good, as are pork scratchings, and Babybels. All easily portable.

ilovecherries · 28/10/2017 11:20

I've fasted, ran, seen a new low on the scales (12.10 but it could be 10 days yet before that becomes a 'real' weight) Smile

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 28/10/2017 11:35

I went out with some friends I hardly ever see last night. I had 2 glasses of champagne and a cheese board with cucumber. When I got home dh was up drinking red wine and watching telly. I was tempted to join him, but managed to be sensible and have a peppermint tea and then go to bed.

I've just eaten a brunch: eggs, spinach, mushroom and bacon. Yum. Im back at work after half term on Monday and am really going to miss my cooked breakfasts!

We are off to a family birthday this afternoon/evening. It's a buffet so Im assuming there will be something hflc friendly! I'll take an emergency snack just in case though. I may have a glass of wine. Undecided as yet.

I weighed in at a new low this morning. I doubt it will last sadly.

blackteaplease · 28/10/2017 12:00

I've woken up with a banging headache this morning and no appetite. I've had some cheese and chorizo, lots of water and salt, coffee and some painkillers but it's not shifting.

Could it be carb flu at this stage? I thought I'd managed to escape it.

SoMuchToBits · 28/10/2017 12:09

Monkeys, I'd definitely take some emergency snacks if I were you. Buffets are usually carb central in my experience (sandwiches/sausage rolls/vol au vents/mini pizza/mini quiche as well as any sweet items). If you're lucky you might get cocktail sausages, crudités and dips etc. But best be prepared!

TempusEejit · 28/10/2017 12:42

blacktea if you're already past the carb flu stage then headaches etc can often be due to electrolyte imbalance - make sure you're getting enough salt/potassium/magnesium especially if you're drinking loads of water. Otherwise you could just be coming down with something? Hope you feel better soon.

Almahart · 28/10/2017 12:58

Sainsbury's salted almonds in green packet are a godsend in emergency situations - 3.4g per 100

Thiswillbemyusername · 28/10/2017 13:24

@blackteaplease I've had a headache all morning too. It's somewhat similar to a caffeine withdrawal headache, yet I've not decreased my caffeine intake. It's making me really sensitive to noise too; I almost flipped out when DD started screeching earlier, as she often likes to do

blackteaplease · 28/10/2017 13:32

@Thiswiil my headache feels like a massive hangover but I haven't had a drink in 3 weeks. I have had some more painkillers and a bowl of celeriac and leek soup with tonnes of salt in and I am starting to feel better now. Hope your headache goes soon.

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 28/10/2017 14:51

That's a good point SoMuch. I'm hoping there will be sliced meats, chicken drumsticks, cheese and at worse the inside of a slice of quiche to eat - but it could easily just be a sea of beige carbs! Will pack a more substantial snack than I was planning. thanks!

SayrraT · 28/10/2017 16:15

NSV to report Smile I've put weight on but I've also run out of clean breeches so I found an old pair in the don't fit me pile....and they do fit. I can sit down and everything!

SoMuchToBits · 28/10/2017 16:26

Good news on the breeches that fit Sayrra!

Do report back on the buffet food, Monkeys - I'll be interested to see what you get!

Lunch here was chicken and avocado salad (chicken cooked in butter, mayo with the salad) and dinner will be home made moussaka with courgettes (which I will either sautée in butter or bake in olive oil, not sure yet).

Veryflummoxed · 28/10/2017 16:37

That’s good SayrraT. Smile

Lunch was leftover cauliflower with butter, cream cheese and Stilton melted on. Followed by almond milk chai latte.

Dinner was a lovely sausage and cheese casserole. It had mushroooms in and shalllots and cream and cheese with green beans and broccoli on the side. Probably rather a dairy overload but delicious food.

Gammeldragz · 28/10/2017 16:51

Breakfast - fried halloumi
Lunch - fried broccoli with mayo
Dinner - fathead pizza (olives and pepperoni)

Rshard · 28/10/2017 16:55

Nice NSV sayyra

B - cheese omelette
L - salad tuna avo and mayo
D - steak and mushroom goulash with veg of some sort

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 28/10/2017 17:24

I shouldn’t have been worried about LA, America is of course the home of getting your waiter to swop all of the ingredients if your meal for different ones! And they serve avocado with everything.

A bigger issue is the size of the servings. I have a really clear your plate compulsion that I am trying to work on. At home I just serve stuff on a side plate or in a bowl but here they bring so much. Trying very hard to leave 1/3 behind.

For whoever was looking for handbag snacks I bought some pip almond butter in little sachets from boots at the airport and they are amazing. (If possibly a bit dangerous as I want to eat them all!) they do a few flavours I think.

Hope you have a great holiday BIWI

YoLoNovVitMe · 28/10/2017 19:12

timbuktu was that boots as in UK Boots the chemist? I will definitely have a look for those nut butter sachets if so.

YoLoNovVitMe · 28/10/2017 19:15

I found them online. Not cheap at 3.49 for 4 sachets though
