Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 23/10/2017 07:26

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

I've just had "supper" of a bowl of brussel sprouts microwaved in butter Shock while dh and ds had Lidl curries while we watch the Warriors rugby game in Gaelic as it's on Alba

I was going to allow myself some Cava tonight but dh has finished off the bottle of white that he opened yesterday to take away the temptation.

YoLoNovVitMe · 27/10/2017 21:43

ilove i found it!

ilovecherries · 27/10/2017 22:08

Yup :). I used green peppers, shallots and mushrooms, and cheddar on top.

HarlotsWeb · 27/10/2017 22:13

Help - is Greek style yoghurt acceptable in place of Greek yoghurt? The carb count doesn't look too different, but is there something I am missing?

SayrraT · 27/10/2017 22:15

I think Greek yog might be higher fat but if the carb counts are similar then it will be fine. Can add some cream.

Or is it that Greek yog is made in Greece and Greek style isn't?

HarlotsWeb · 27/10/2017 22:24

Reading about it, it seems that Greek style can be thickened in artificial ways rather than just straining. But I guess that if the carb count is similar, then I can eat it. Thanks sarrya. It was half price and so I grabbed it without thinking and only noticed when I got it home.

prettybird · 27/10/2017 22:46

Just checked my tub of Lidl Greek yoghurt in the fridge. It's actually "Greek style" - presumably because it's not actually made in Greece! Grin

ilovecherries · 27/10/2017 23:25

Cafe, hope you feel a bit better tomorrow. Be kind to yourself and if you are hungry, then eat, ideally something high in fat as well as low in carb. Anxiety is such a horrible feeling though.

Bubblemumma1 · 28/10/2017 04:46

Hi all,

Can I join in the Bootcamp?
I’m on Day 4 today but reading through the threads I realise I may have made some mistakes already.

I had peanut butter with celery as snacks on Days 1 and 2. Is peanut butter allowed at this stage? I’ve read no nuts until Week 4

I had 3 satsumas yesterday.

I ate a few slices of chicken slices, the packaged type. On Day 1.

I’m going grocery shopping this afternoon and I’m compiling my list. Awake at this ridiculous time because both my kids are poorly.

blackteaplease · 28/10/2017 04:58

Bubblemumma1 if you have a look at the first post in this thread there is a link to a spreadsheet. This has the rules, recipes, carb counts and all sorts of useful information.

General question, is anyone else suffering with insommnia on lchf? I do have a history of sleep problems and am having a bit of a tough time at the moment but the sleeping is particularly bad. I've been up since 2.30. I need to try to avoid being a carby twat which is what usually happens when I've had little sleep.

Veryflummoxed · 28/10/2017 07:40

HarlotsWeb my understanding is that it’s only allowed to be called Greek yogurt if it’s a produce of Greece.* Yogurt made in the same way but not a product of Greece is called Greek style yogurt. So there might be slight be variations in brands but not because one is Greek and one Greek Style, if that makes sense.* (Still catching up so probably already been answered.)

Veryflummoxed · 28/10/2017 07:46

Bubblemumma first two weeks should be strict; no alcohol, no fruit, no nut/nutproducts, after that can introduce some alcohol, nuts, fruit (berries) dark choc in moderation.* Go to spread sheet, loads of info tabs.*

Blacktea insomnia very common.* Some people more than others but it does go.*

FurryTurnip · 28/10/2017 07:59

Had a successful (if not slightly dull food wise) evening out for the curry. Had paneer tikka masala, with a side salad and loads of water. Oh and I did go for a poppadom, and savoured every mouthful, it lasted me nearly an hour! Overall it was a success but I did really miss bread for mopping up the curry sauce.

Then quite proud that we moved onto a dessert restaurant and I sipped herbal tea while others are crepes and brownies. They all felt sick after it all....

Thinking of all of you having some really tough times out there- you are doing so well to avoid falling into carbs as a comfort- it would only make things so much worse in the long term. Keep going everyone.

Cherrypi · 28/10/2017 08:29

Started to skip a bit due to lunch out with no low carb options and big family do where everyone had dinner and pudding. Sugar cravings were back yesterday with a vengeance. Need to get back on it today.
B: Greek yoghurt
L: Fry up
T: buffet at church but if not enough low carb food planning celeriac chips

Cherrypi · 28/10/2017 08:29

Slip not skip.

At the airport with a glass of Champagne and about to enjoy eggs Florentine (no muffin!) before our flight.

Be good, avoid the carby twatness and I’ll see you soon.

Have a lovely time BIWI - your airport breakfast sounds heavenly!

We found DD2 had worms last night, so I'll be having a day of bleaching my house and boil washing all the bed clothes and clothes and teddies! Oh the glamour.

Food plan:
L - homemade broccoli, cauliflower and goats cheese soup (they all need using up!)
D - leftover roast pork and veggies

May treat myself to a square of dark chocolate and a g& slimline t later for cleaning! I've not eaten dark chocolate since August - there's an NSV if ever there was one. From a former chocoholic.

CarbyDeadUn · 28/10/2017 08:44

Have fun BIWI!

I need food inspiration. Dinner tonight with leftovers for lunch and dinner tomorrow. (Not celeriac! I’m sadly allergic to
It Grin)

Thiswillbemyusername · 28/10/2017 08:45

Morning bootcampers

I got a record low on the scales today (yay), fingers crossed it stays 'til Monday. I'm staying round a relatives tonight and they're aware I'm low carbing so I don't think I'll have much to worry about (they're even interested in it themselves). I'm taking several packs of pork scratchings so I have something to snack on if I'm hungry and there's nothing about. We will be having wine but they only drink dry white wine and last time I had a night on that I lost 3lb Grin (obviously the timing must have been a coincidence but it's still funny to think about)

Congrats on everyone's elses NSV + SVs, and hello new people! I hope you enjoy this WOE Smile

SoMuchToBits · 28/10/2017 08:50

Your airport breakfast sounds lovely, BIWI! Hope you have a lovely time.

I've not been sleeping so well since low carbing, but I think that's partly due to not drinking alcohol in the evenings, which used to make me feel sleepy before bed. Also, now I'm drinking so much (water!) I need to get up once in the night to go to the loo, which I hardly ever used to do! But the sleep is gradually getting a bit better again, and I think I feel more rested even though I've had less actual sleep.

cafeaulaitpourvous · 28/10/2017 08:56

Feeling much better today

Talked to DH who surrounded me in love which helps. He really does take the nasty feeling away

Onwards and upwards

Rshard · 28/10/2017 09:27

Morning everyone

Have a lovely time BIWI

I’ve been sleeping better actually black, apart from the extra nocturnal weeing due to all the water!

Welcome bubblemumma

Poor dd2 hippa thankfully a dry breezy day in the East Midlands to get that washing dry!

I’m excited because dd is home today after 4 days at swim camp. Looking forward to seeing her face. Doing her fave dinner - tacos, I’m having mine in lettuce leaves as a lchf fix

That’s the longest post I’ve ever done!

DearPrudence · 28/10/2017 09:31

Bon voyage BIWI

Glad you're feeling better today Cafe. Your DH sounds lovely.

Does anyone else get the urge to eat late at night? Twice this week I've had a really good day, eaten delicious food, am not hungry, but instead of gong to bed I start rummaging around the kitchen. Any tips?

blackteaplease · 28/10/2017 09:37

Have you tried a herbal or peppermint tea DearPrudence? It can take the edge off the late night munchies.
