Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

@OuaisMaisBon
like you, I was not losing for several weeks, some days up, so reassess what I was shoving in, all LCHF so what was the actually quantity of it all, bang cups and cups of cabbage coleslaw = HC and to much Mayo = Calories.

So switch to more green leaf salad, less cabbage and reduced mayo add more spices or mustard for flavour. Increase salt take some magnesium, potassium and b12.

Today for the scales showed a new mile stone 195.5 ( 13st 13lb 8oz )
happy dance, weigh again 197.1. Darn focus, left foot on first, facing south, head up, count to 10, waiting for number to lock in on electronic scale, look again 196.0 Repeat 196.0 ok 2 matching numbers today is a 196 day.

Not only that the ketosis smelly breath is back and fat burning is in full swing. Smile

Have a great week end everybody.
p.s I saw 13st on the scale Grin

Scabbersley · 27/10/2017 16:42

B: eggs and bacon
L: celeriac rice and chorizo. Greek yogurt
D: aubergine lasagne

ChinchillaFur · 27/10/2017 16:45

Well, Geneva was an official LC disaster. I managed the airport, the flight and then it all fell apart after I almost fainted halfway round a museum. We were walking miles every day and even climbed a mountain! Some of it was just wanting it I will admit! (croissant!)

Anyway, I have paid the price for 3.5 days of carby-twattery with a gain of +7lb on the scales this morning Shock. I almost fell over. It totally serves me right and I was prepared for a gain (maybe not that much). In previous BC's this would have been the end for me but for some reason my resolve seems high today so have been out and restocked the fridge with all sorts of lovely LC food. Roast ham, celeriac dauphinoise, broccoli and a few green beans fried in butter for tea. Omlette for lunch.

Day 1 of fifty-something for me ... sigh.

I have read the whole thread since Monday and am very impressed with everybody keeping going despite some challenges.

wombattoo · 27/10/2017 16:48

Hello all
I am still here but the intrusive ads are driving me mad, meaning I can't bear it for more than 15 minutes.
Nice to see everyone is still doing so well. I wish I could share the celeriac love but hate, hate hate celery. Seeing as some of you have been converted, I may try and find one over the weekend.

blackteaplease · 27/10/2017 16:51

Wow, congrats on reaching 2 stone loss prettybird that's amazing.

Rshard · 27/10/2017 17:03

2 stone is amazing prettybird!

SoMuchToBits · 27/10/2017 17:11

Well done to all the losers, and well done also to those who haven't lost but are still sticking to the LCHF WOE. Even if you don't lose weight for a bit, it's still worth sticking to for so many other reasons.

My next door but one neighbour just told me I was "looking well"! I reckon it's my improved skin... Smile

Veryflummoxed · 27/10/2017 17:17

Well done Pretty Flowers

Very emotional day. Could easily console myself with carbs. Instead I went on the internet and ordered some clothes in the sale, a size smaller than I’m currently wearing. That and the afore mentioned chai latte has kept me on track. Out to eat tonight but I’ll be able to swap in salad, veg for carbs so no problem.

ilovecherries · 27/10/2017 17:19

Well done prettybird. I'm really having a bit of an alcohol-longing week, which given it's been 10 months now, is unusual. feeling unusually deprived.

Almahart · 27/10/2017 17:20

Our freezer's broken so most of my carefully batch cooked LC food will go to waste :-(

CarbyDeadUn · 27/10/2017 18:10

I'm making Christmas potions. I'm quite excited about it.

I want to make a cake but nobody really likes it. But i love the smell.

FinallyHere · 27/10/2017 18:20

just can't be bothered with explaining or 'defending' myself about it all night.

I'm with you, furry, hate people talking about their latest enthusiasm for a fad diet and hate, hate, hate explaining my own food choices, especially to the uninitiated who still think HCLF is 'healthy'. It's one of the (many) things I love about LCHF, that I can eat the 'good bits' and just leave the padding to the side. In fact, I don't think I have even been asked since I started Bootcamp, earlier this year. One colleague has been heard to 'oh, Finally doesn't eat ' when 'treats' are left out at work. I suppose that means that she has been tracking my food consumption, I just hope she finds more interesting things to do soonish.

And of course, there is this thread for really helpful insights, thank you all very kindly. Talking with the like minded, is endlessly fascinating.

singadream · 27/10/2017 18:23

Today and yesterday and finished my son’s satsuma when he didn’t want it all (I know I know, not allowed) and both times within half an hour my tummy felt so bloated. Is this normal?

Nsv today. Lunch was in a bakery that only sold sandwiches. I asked them to make me a salad which they did. Just tuna mayo, lettuce, tomato and cucumber.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 27/10/2017 18:43

Oh that’s so annoying almahart. Do you have a nice neighbour who could help you out for a day or two?

I arrived in LA yesterday and I am quite proud that f the fact that I managed to keep away from all the super carby airline food. Although I did eat quite a lot of nuts and babybels instead which probably wasn’t great. My body clock is totally messed up too so ended up having an ‘extra’ meal when I landed.

I am quite worried about managing a whole week eating out for three meals a day. This is normally the point where I end up giving in and I am really determined not too this time. Hopefully that will last the week out!

B-scrambled eggs, bacon, avocado
L- provided at conference (nightmare!) but breakfast was late so hopefully will manage.
D-? Steak and salad probably.

NSV for today was up at 6am for an hour in the gym. Jet lag has to be good for something Grin

FinallyHere · 27/10/2017 19:06

Well done on surviving the flight Timbuktu. I'm sure you will find lovely, HFLC food in LA, though it might not be the cheapest. I've found any restaurants very happy to 'hold the bread' and substitute spinach for well, any kind of carby padding-type stuff. Hope you have a great time and enjoy your food. Imagine that being possible when away : - )

thedayismine · 27/10/2017 19:39

Evening all . Still here and have been reading the thread all week but half term has been a bit manic for me so just checking in now.
Very pleased to hear about C4 progress what a relief !
Some amazing inspiring ladies on here - ilovecherries and prettybird are two names that stay with me. Every day I read of someone's highs or lows and they all spur me on.
I just know I am going to stay the course this time !
Avocado chips are on my list to try now too.
Got to navigate a night out at an Indian tonight but I know I won't be tempted to stray - just got to choose carefully . Looking forward to it as we don't get out much !

Think I had an NSV day today - wore some trousers I have been avoiding for being too tight - they still are a bit on my tummy but definitely felt a little looser - then I saw a photo of me in the aforementioned trousers and I looked ok ! Have been hating seeing photos of myself recently but today I somehow look better .
I suspect some of this is purely mental but the fact that I feel much more positively about myself when I know I am eating right is an NSV in itself .
Have good Saturday nights All !

Rshard · 27/10/2017 19:52

Love to read all the NSV’s. We are all helping and supporting and inspiring each other, ‘‘tis lovely.

Dh and I have been out for dinner and he selflessly supported my lchf regime by eating all the French bread - just to remove the temptation. Who said love is dead??

ilovecherries · 27/10/2017 20:05

Aw, thank you theday. I can't believe the support there is here It's just lovely and it's made all the difference :).

Now to culinary matters. I have said this before but it's important enough to say again. Grin Philly CheeseSteak Casserole. It's ah-maze-ing.

Sorry about the unwiped plate! That's a little unappetising. Trying to get a photo while salivating!

cafeaulaitpourvous · 27/10/2017 20:18

Shit day

Anxiety is at top level - heart racing and tearful

Hungry as hell - tried drinking water but no use

Eaten lots of low carbish shit - no potatoes bread etc

Stomach is churning but I think it’s due to me swallowing air

I am knackered - been decorating on my own this week - been working until late every night. Today I was supposed to be doing prep for the next part of term but I have just paced round the house....

Kleptronic · 27/10/2017 20:18

Ha! Unwiped plate! Get out >>>
Halloween Grin

Grimbles · 27/10/2017 20:53

Evening all Smile

I am claiming a NSV today - I bought myself a new winter coat and was able to fit into one a size smaller than I would normally go for. It is a wee bit snug when the buttons are done up, but that's further incentive to Koko!

For those who are not losing weight or have put on a pound of two... Please please please don't panic - I was exactly where you were a few weeks back, but then the weight started shifting. Weighing myself today I am 3lbs heavier than I was on Monday but I now know that it's not actual weight, but a combination of the extra water plus, food in my gut that's waiting to shift out, my time of the month (I always weigh more in the week approaching my period and the few days around ovulation)

Your bodies are going through a big shift, and it can take a while for some people to fully adapt. Please don't be tempted to give up!

DearPrudence · 27/10/2017 21:12

Do you have techniques for managing the anxiety Cafe? It's a horrible way to feel.

On day 5 here and starting to feel like I'm in the swing of things. I've had some truly delicious dinners and I'm definitely less bloated. It all still feels a bit precarious but I'm determined to keep going.

YoLoNovVitMe · 27/10/2017 21:24

cafe sorry to hear about your shit day. What can you DO to make it better? Can you treat yourself in some way? Like a long bath or a square of dark chocolate and a Netflix series? Something non carby. Just put today behind you and feel good about what you did get done this week.

YoLoNovVitMe · 27/10/2017 21:26

ilove it doesn't exist unless you give me the recipe!!!
