Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

Wishing the best for your husband, Ave, and maybe the reason you aren't diving into carbs is that you just know they don't work for you. Flowers

sing out of interest why don't you weigh in the morning?

I was curious as well but realised that as long as the weigh-in is consistently performed in similar circumstances, it probably won't make much difference each week.

Sure, daily food consumption will change, but if time and clothing are the same then it's a decent indicator of loss.

YoLoNovVitMe · 25/10/2017 00:23

very Apologies to those still trying to track down celariac Grin

ave hope DH gets to the bottom of it soon. And that it's quickly and easily treatable. Well done for resisting the mindless panic comfort food.

GeneandFred · 25/10/2017 00:36

Tempus thanks for the Mozzarella tip.

blackteaplease · 25/10/2017 04:59

Morning all, I had some bad news yesterday but managed to resist falling into a bottle of wine.

Food yesterday
Breakfast frozen berries and ff Yogurt
Lunch leftover chilli with cheese and half a LCHF muffin thing.
Dinner inside of crumbed cod, avocado chips broccoli and mayo.

Hippadippadation · 25/10/2017 06:29

blacktea Unmumsnetty hugs, hope you're ok.

Ave that does sound stressful, hope they can get some answers soon.

I have A Cautionary TMI Tale. Don't read if you're eating!

I have heard the ALDI sugar free sweets are nice, so I bought a packet of the Butterscotch ones on Monday. I opened them yesterday and they are absolutely delicious. I ate 2 on my way to work. Well, I filled up with bubbly wind almost immediately! I kept having to go outside at work to let it out! I'm still windy this morning and I can feel it bubbling around in my insides and more importantly - I have "gained" nearly 2.5lb on the scales since yesterday! Don't go there with the sugar free sweets folks!! Grin

Food plan for today:
L - dunno, some sort of salad or egg, mushroom & avocado omelette
D - roast pork with crackling, cabbage, cauli mash

ilovecherries · 25/10/2017 07:10

Ava, that must be very worrying and scary. I hope everything is ok.

ilovecherries · 25/10/2017 07:14

Hippa. Sugar free sweets are the devil's work. I shared my previous experience of the M&S butterscotch ones on the last bootcamp. In was several years ago, and I'm still scarred. let's just say I'm scrupulous about ensuring that there isn't drop of sugar alcohol in anything I eat.

Scabbersley · 25/10/2017 07:20

I one ate a whole bag of werthers sugar free, not realising that I had bought sugar free. It was a long 3 hour drive.

Tottyandmarchpane1 · 25/10/2017 07:24

5llb loss this morning, that’s 12lb in total. Am VERY pleased. Late weigh in due to hols. Onward...

SayrraT · 25/10/2017 07:28

Well done totty is that 12 lbs this bootcamp?

Tottyandmarchpane1 · 25/10/2017 07:33

It is! I have a lot to lose though!!

SayrraT · 25/10/2017 07:54

It's still an excellent start!

I have a confession to make, it's probably bad etiquette but I really enjoy reading other weight loss threads. Like the SW, calorie counting and WW ones and just being amazed at how much better BC is.

On the last one I read loads of people were posting about how they didn't eat or drink for hours prior to weigh in and then rewarded themselves with cake, sweets, takeaway on the way home!

Veryflummoxed · 25/10/2017 08:10

That interesting SayrraT. My relationship with food is so much healthier since joining bootcamp last year. Thanks again BZiWI

Veryflummoxed · 25/10/2017 08:11

Sorry about renaming youGrin

AveAtqueVale · 25/10/2017 08:16

I used to do that on slimming world, Sayrra - get weighed, spend an evening binging on crap, then start again the next day. So every week was like week one dealing with cravings again. Not entirely surprised it didn't work, in retrospect Hmm.

Almahart · 25/10/2017 08:18

Ave so sorry to hear about your DH, I hope they get to the bottom of it soon. Resisting carbs In those circumstances is an amazing achievement!

I've a tiny NSV, I haven't had a diet Coke for well over a week now and I've only just noticed. Nasty aspartamy things

I've also re read the rules and am being very strict. I think what I had missed before is the bit on bc light about only eating if you are hungry. That but is really important! Had a mini whoosh and lost another pound so two pounds in two days which I am thrilled with

Rshard · 25/10/2017 08:23

ave., hope your dh feels better soon

sayrra I did that while on WW. Treated myself massively. Doesn’t enter my head to do so on this woe, completely different mindset.

B - buttery scrambled eggs
L - lettuce rocket cucumber tuna avo mayo
D - probably chicken and mushrooms in a creamy mustardy sauce

Thiswillbemyusername · 25/10/2017 08:32

@Hippadippadation have sugar free sweets always had that effect on you or is it something that has happened because of our WOE?

B today will be eggs and sausages. Dinner will be steak and veg. Is it okay to eat steak a couple of times a week? I don't want to be overdoing it

prettybird · 25/10/2017 08:38

Ave - that's not a small NSV. It's a brilliant NSV Flowers Hope they find answers for your dh and that it is easily sorted.

YoLo - must be the BootCampers causing a UK wide celeriac shortage!Grin

They do store well in the fridge, so when you do find one you'll need to stock up Wink

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 25/10/2017 08:43

Ava - I hope you get some answers for your dh soon.

It's great how alien "rewarding yourself" after weigh in feels on this WOE. I can honestly say I've enjoyed every meal I've eaten since starting boot camp. And because they taste nice - not because I'm ravenous.

So today's yummy offerings...
B: chorizo, eggs and spinach.
L: cream of chicken and mushroom soup.
D: ribeye steak and celeriac chips. Salad.

YoLoNovVitMe · 25/10/2017 08:45

prettybird dont worry, when i finally spot one of these elusive secretive ugly creatures I will binge buy them and store them in my shed for the winter!! Or a week until I have eaten them all.

blacktea hope all is ok. What are avocado chips?? I'm intrigued.

YoLoNovVitMe · 25/10/2017 08:50

alma this WOE has ruined diet coke for me. It used to be my beverage of choice and now I find the taste disgusting. It's water all the way for me now!

There is an advert for Aunt Bessies roast potatoes on my screen. Complete with a colour picture of the crispy golden fluffy middled bastards. Thanks Mumsnet. Are you trying to sabotage all my good work? Hmm

blackteaplease · 25/10/2017 08:53

Avocado chips - cut an avocado into long slices, toss in parmesan and bake for approx 20 mins on greaseproof paper. They are devine.

YoLoNovVitMe · 25/10/2017 09:10

Today I shall be eating:
B: ff greek yog with chia seeds and crunchy almond butter stirred through and a flavoured creamy coffee. Yum.
L: buttered leeks, chicken, baby corn and camembert
S: cheese strings. I know. You can't get more processed than that!
D: chicken thighs or sausages with veg. Not sure on what flavour to be added yet. Maybe paprika and garlic.

I'm craving mash with all this celeriac talk I need to shut up about this now . I think I might do cauli mash as I have a big one.

YoLoNovVitMe · 25/10/2017 09:12

blacktea they do sound lovely. Do they go squishy or are they crisp? Do you need to use a quite firm avocado or would a ripe one be ok?
