Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 23/10/2017 07:26

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

I’ve had that yolo, when I lost weight before I had one colleague actually ask I was I’ll. All the “don’t lose anymore”. People never say comparable things about being fat do they? Is it jealousy? Their own low self esteem? Dunno.

Rshard · 24/10/2017 20:09

If I was ill- fgs preview your messages Rshard!

StuntNun · 24/10/2017 20:39

Good call on the chippy advice. DH and I had half a chicken each which was low carb but no veg. I have no idea how carby mushy peas are but I doubt they're any good for low carb so tonight's dinner was all about the protein.

DrDiva · 24/10/2017 20:42

lenl that sounds scary about your DS, hope tonight is much, much calmer!
hippa good to hear about C4.
creme celeriac remoulade? It's nice wrapped in prosciutto!
mimosa that might be a possibility with the vitamins! And just generally looking after myself a bit better... Hmm

NutButterNutter · 24/10/2017 20:44

Logging in after a weekend away. But of a low loss, but a loss none the less. Carrying on with boot camp hardcore this week in the hope it'll mean a shrunken me more quickly!

starsky22 · 24/10/2017 20:45

creme how about celeriac remoulade?

FinallyHere · 24/10/2017 20:47

Ah, I see lots of bootcampers have got in ahead of me with an idea for celeriac. I have always called this celeriac salad, but see that the sainted Nigel calls is celeriac remoulade as do you lovely people

www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2011/feb/27/nigel-slater-classic-celeriac-remoulade

FinallyHere · 24/10/2017 20:48

p.s. i see the recipe suggests not leaving it overnight, i prefer it the next day, after the flavours ahve mingled a tad. Enjoy.

SayrraT · 24/10/2017 20:53

Found a celeriac eventually so had THE MOST AMAZING dinner Grin

Roast chicken legs (butter pushed under the skin) with celeriac dauphinouse.

Frigglet · 24/10/2017 20:53

Hello all. Just a quick check in for the day, but firstly to say that’s great news about C4, thanks for the update as she’s been on my mind.

After yesterday’s slight disappointment I’m upbeat again today.

B-bacon, mayonnaise on bed of spinach and watercress
L-2 chicken thighs with mayonnaise
D-2 chicken thighs with salad and cucumber salsa

I’m literally having to remember if I’ve eaten- and to drink water. Think I’ve had close to 2 litres today.

Not sure if I previously requested, but could someone kindly add my losses on the spreadsheet please as I can’t with this phone. Last week lost 9lbs, this week lost 2lbs. Thanks.

I haven’t managed to track down any celeriac yet- seems to be a shortage round here. I’m going to try Tesco tomorrow as I’m keen to try the mash and a kind of fish rosti using haddock. Glad my appetite is in my favour, but can I ask if there’s a max time recommended staying on BC for pls? I’m hoping to extend to next week if I can manage it, but appreciate that it might not be advisable.

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 24/10/2017 20:58

@Mimosa1

hope you've taken into account the boob density and milk weight. There's a bra site that did a range of weights for cup sizes for fun, BMI doesn't count the differences in size, we discussed on past camps and consensus is BMI = Bloody Made-up Indicator. Should be banned.
For example at 5' 10", I'm 20lb above my top guideline and DW is already saying I look too skinny and bony. Dentist thought I was suffering from cancer, I was so thin in the face from before.

Body fat percentage is a better guide, but machines in chemists and some home scales can over estimate.

Who remembers the pinch an inch adverts? I had a pinch a foot.

SayrraT · 24/10/2017 21:03

frigglet you can stay on BC forever if you want!

Tottyandmarchpane1 · 24/10/2017 21:04

Just checking in on new thread. Have awful cold that seems to have been coming for a week and has now broken. Had to have lemsip which have discovered is full of sugar (I thought it would be sweeteners). Heh ho. Have been away and managed to remain low carb so will be weighing tomorrow.

Frigglet · 24/10/2017 21:15

Thanks Sayrra, but forever is really quite something!! 😀. That said, I’m going to try and keep going, at least for another week (which will make 4 weeks), and then take it week by week from there. Definitely good to know no harm in carrying on with BC.

CremeDeSudo · 24/10/2017 21:17

The remoulade is for raw celeriac though. I'm trying to mask its taste! Will it freezes ok d'you think? For future rostis with less salt!

singadream · 24/10/2017 21:41

So I had a bath and when I got out dh had made the chicken into a great salad. Win! I also weighed myself and it showed a half a kg loss but that was before dinner... usually I weigh myself before bed.

HarlotsWeb · 24/10/2017 22:07

B creamy coffee
L steak with salad
D steak with spaghetti squash
S 1 X Bendicks Bittermint Blush

Mimosa1 · 24/10/2017 22:07

Creme what about using the leftovers for mash?

Lenl · 24/10/2017 22:12

sing out of interest why don't you weigh in the morning?

singadream · 24/10/2017 22:46

Mornings are stressful - three kids six and under and being able to do it and record it while having one or all of them hang off me is impossible. At my bedtime they are all asleep so I can just incorporate it into my toothbrushing etc routine.

littlebillie · 24/10/2017 22:56

Timbuktu it was Starbucks

YoLoNovVitMe · 24/10/2017 23:02

Fab news that C4 is still hanging in there. Looking forward to her return to the living and to Boot camp. Thanks Hippa

Will people stop gloating about celeriac overload because I still can't find one Wink Envy

AveAtqueVale · 24/10/2017 23:16

Popping in a bit late for this week, though weighed in on the spreadsheet yesterday. Amazed to see some of the losses - well done everyone! I weighed in a pound and a half higher than my lowest weight last week but I think the mindless macaroon bar may have had something to do with that Blush.

Anyway am having a horrible few days - was meant to be away with my diet-saboteur-extraordinaire DM this week for a little holiday with her and the DSs but we haven't gone as DH was admitted to hospital over the weekend. He's been having episodes of dizziness and double vision but they've cleared up with lying down and we've been assuming he's been overdoing it. Then on Saturday he got one and it didn't go. They've discharged him but he's still got double vision, is having an MRI this weekend and the doctors don't seem very happy. I'm also not very happy, and want to dive headfirst into a box of something sugary. I'm slightly surprised I haven't - think it's because low carbing for the last two weeks means the craving is only mental rather than physical, and I can recognise it as my brain trying frantically to find a coping mechanism for panic rather than actual hunger. So I suppose being able to recognise and resist the desire to eat crap is an NSV of a sort.

Veryflummoxed · 24/10/2017 23:39

Yes Yolo I totally get that.
Lovely NSV Monkey glad you were happy with the end result.
Thanks for the update Hippa
Thanks Wombatt
Creme add sliced shallot, shredded white cabbage and mayo. Makes a lovely Cole slaw.
Oh Finally just followed your link, I had no idea that was what a remoulade was.
Ave sorry to hear that. Hope he’s ok Flowers
creme I’d say the flavour is milder raw.

Lunch. 2 leftover burgers. (Late and on the go).
Dinner. Pork chops with a Parmesan crumb. Mushrooms. Pan fried baby corn and BIWI’s celariac and leek mash. It was delicious (Apologies to those still trying to track down celariac

Veryflummoxed · 24/10/2017 23:41

And I’ve just done a little happy dance re my bold success.
