Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 23/10/2017 07:26

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

Sayrra

I find that so difficul! It's like the different carb value for tinned/ tetra pack tomatoes! Why? How?!

Hippadippadation · 24/10/2017 16:38

Stunt I've posted this a couple of times on the thread already - get chicken kebab meat and salad from the chippy. I was going to do this for lunch with DH, but the blinking nearest 2 chippies were both closed!! Angry

Timbuktu that's hardly any food! I'd be starving if I ate that!

Monkeys super NSVs!

C4 is getting better, hopefully coming off sedation tomorrow!

After my failed attempt at kebab earlier, my food looked like this today:
L - cucumber, celery, ham, cheese, couple of strips of yellow pepper, cream cheese and pate to dip (delicious, but not quite a kebab!)
D - leftover chilli I found in the freezer (at work)

wombattoo · 24/10/2017 16:43

Hi everyone
Lenl I'm glad to hear DS is feeling brighter today.

BlackMozart Welcome to the bootcamps thread Thanks

ClearEyes I did jumped to the spreadsheet once or twice and when I realised you were doing it, I wrote the weights down to update at the end Grin I don't mind one bit you updating. Thanks.

ragz and very I have updated you.

wombattoo · 24/10/2017 16:44

Mimosa 20kgs in 4 months is very good. No reason to be down hearted about that Thanks

HarlotsWeb · 24/10/2017 16:47

monkey, your NSV haircut really
touched me. I know just what you mean about such things and am so pleased for you that you are at the hairdressers.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 24/10/2017 17:13

It was all I had left Lenl. I’m now trapped on a train which only has non bootcamp approved items. Two hours until I get home! Haloween Sad

I will learn my lesson and take more snacks next time!

SayrraT · 24/10/2017 17:25

monkey I'm so glad to see you doing something for yourself. We all should!

I know data!

Rshard · 24/10/2017 17:45

Loved your treat trip to

prettybird · 24/10/2017 17:46

Monkey - I promised myself a cut and colour after I'd lost a stone. In the event, by the time I'd got round to going, I'd lost a stone and a half! Smile

.....it's an incentive to lose another stone by Christmas, so I can go again! Grin - already lost 6lb of that.

Mimosa - I know how demoralising that can be, when you think you've breached a threshold. BMI is a very crude tool - but if it helps, I'd advise you to measure your height again. I always thought I was 5'4" but after years of Pilates, I measured my height again out of curiosity - and I was 5'5" Grin I recently measured myself again after a particularly stretching Pilates session and I was 5'5.5" Shock (Have to convert to cm to put that into the BMI calculators as they don't accept the half inch Wink)

Rshard · 24/10/2017 17:47

Cont...... the hairdresser monkey

Early start so needed a snack today for the first time, I had some chicken fillets.
D - chicken broccoli cauliflower

Hippadippadation · 24/10/2017 18:20

pretty I agree - I was 5'4" for most of my life, was measured after having DD2 and I was 5'3.5". Measured myself very recently and I'm back to 5'4"!

Whyhellodaffodil · 24/10/2017 18:22

Hi all, belatedly checking in! Hope that’s ok?I am on the spreadsheet but only started last week, would someone be able to add my details? I’m on my phone and having trouble downloading the sheets app. I was 145.5 starting weight on 18 Oct and will weigh in tomorrow and update then. It’s going well so far, 4 lbs down and dresses which were tight are already fitting better. I’m managing to drink shed loads of water and enjoying the food (butter!yum). DH is doing it too which is making it easier with all the cooking/prep etc Smile. Have been back through some of the last thread and have caught up on this one, loads of good tips which have kept me going this first week. Paprika swede chips and stuffed mushrooms (with cheese and a bit of garlic) for dinner Smile

BlackMozart · 24/10/2017 18:31

Evening, thank you for the welcome wombattoo

Starting weight in lbs is 197 - will someone add that to the sheet for me or do I need to do that?

B: 2 rashers, 3 chipolata sausages locarb, 1 egg cooked in a dash of oil and knob of butter, 1 coffee with lacto-free milk (will change this for double cream)
L: ham and cheese and salami and cheese roll ups - half a dozen
D: 2 lamb cutlets, buttered spinach, creamed celeriac
S: small piece of fresh manchego cheese

So far only a litre of water drunk so going to drink another litre before bed
Ignoring the chocolate in the pantry that is calling my name and repeating to myself only another 13 days to go without it!

singadream · 24/10/2017 18:35

I had quite a disastrous food day today as we had a day trip and every time my kids handed me something half eaten I used myself as the bin. Half a cornetto. Half a party ring. Theee chips. Sigh. Still, better than a whole Corbett, who biscuit and whole portion of chips.

I have a roast chicken in the oven. Any ideas for making it into a nice dinner? I don’t like celeriac or cauliflour. Can just have with salad or shred it and Make into a stir fry but am looking for inspiration.

Thiswillbemyusername · 24/10/2017 18:35

@Monkey congrats on your NSV my reward when I reach my goal is a haircut too

Today's meals have been:

B: eggs, sausages and chopped tomatoes (they taste so sweet now, I chucked the rest away)
L: Greek yoghurt, butter coffee
D: smoked haddock with roast broccoli and cauliflower.

May have a strawberry later but I'm worried it'll be too sweet. It's weird how my tastes have changed so much.

I want to try and get off the coffee too so I bought some peppermint flavour and chai flavour tea bags from Holland and Barrett. I never used to like these sorts of teas before

CarbyDeadUn · 24/10/2017 18:38

Hippa That’s good news.

I have post-nights-hormental pudding craving. I want trifle.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 24/10/2017 18:53

StuntNun our chippy does a pretty good burger so I suppose you could have a naked one and ask your mum for a side salad?

Grimbles there have been studies showing better cholesterol results (particularly a rise in HDL, which I think is the "good" one). If your husband hasn't been doing this long I think he should give it six months and get tested again. Also, any form of aerobic exercise/walking/cycling etc will help raise HDL. His doctor should be aware that triglycerides react well (generally) to LCHF. Did he discuss this WOE with the GP?

dataandspot woo hoo!

Loads more I want to reply to, but congratulations to all for NSVs and KOKO and all that.

I've been really busy lately and eating the right things but not early enough. Also haven't been near the treadmill in weeks.

Still feeling good and positive, just not putting myself first. Too many commitments, obligations, necessities.

Thank goodness I have therapy tomorrow. Wink

ShastaBeast · 24/10/2017 19:00

I’m struggling to keep up. It’s only Tuesday. I weighed in yesterday and dropped just over a pound. Weirdly this last three pound have made me feel very different. I measured up and it’s interesting where the weight comes off, definitely not all over evenly - I’ve lost 5 inches off my thighs, each. About 10 from top of the hips round my tummy. I’ve only lost just over a stone. On the other hand I’ve not had to change my clothes, thanks to stretchy fabric I was still able to fit in most outfits.

Still spotting and cramping annoyingly.

I’ll try and catch up as I’m off the rest of the week for half term.

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 24/10/2017 19:05

Thank you to everyone who commented on my NSV. I'm out of the hairdressers now and LOVE my new hair. It sounds silly but I feel like I've relaunched myself! It's my LCHF hair :-)

YoLoNovVitMe · 24/10/2017 19:12

Love your NSV monkey. I totally get it. It's time to look after YOU for a change. You bloody deserve it.

Mine is that my trousers are falling down. They were tight a few weeks ago.

And poeple keep telling me I'm disappearing, losing weight, getting smaller, etc etc. It's actually not a nice compliment. I feel really uncomfortable, don't know how to respond, and find it too intrusive and personal. I know they mean well, and I laugh it off awkwardly, but I wish they would piss off and not comment on my body size or shape. It just draws attention to how fat I was/still am and it's none of their business.

Anyone else get this?

ClearEyesFullHearts · 24/10/2017 19:25

ShastaBeast have you spoken with your GP or an OB/Gyn specialist about the spotting and cramping?

It's worth investigating the possibility that this might not be related to LCHF, even if the two coincide.

ShastaBeast · 24/10/2017 19:38

Clear eyes - it’s only been a week so will watch and wait a bit longer. It’s really unusual for me as my cycle is twice the average 28 days. It’s not heavy enough to count as a proper period. I have a copper coil, fitted about six months ago. I hope it isn’t the coil. I’ll see if upping carbs helps via fruit. Another week and I’ll get it checked out.

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 24/10/2017 19:43

@Hippadippadation great news re C4, thanks for the update.

Gammeldragz · 24/10/2017 20:02

hippa thanks for the update on c4
wombat thanks for updating my weight.

Am KOKO here. Trying to up water intake and not being very successful.

CremeDeSudo · 24/10/2017 20:05

Hi all so I made celeriac rosti for tea (it was ok, think I put too much salt in annoyingly) but I didn't read the instructions and we've grated up an entire bloody celeriac! I have about half left!

Any suggestions what I can do with half a grated celeriac? Help!
