I know we only have another day or so before the next thread, but the last one was almost full!

Interesting about the What Was. I came across my old class photos recently, and there were definitely overweight kids in my class. Though different country, and perhaps slightly later. Anyone remember that series when they put teenagers in a wartime boarding school for a month? They were eating full meat and two veg dinners, and the girls were really surprised to learn they had lost weight.

Someone on the last thread mentioned school lunch rules, which I might have to come and rant about. . In the meantime, here is a photo of my zero carb wraps for tonight's beef tortillas.

Thank you so much prettybird and all you wonderful inspirational ladies for your menu ideas.
Unfortunately I'm on a mobile so would be very grateful if someone could add me, 158 lbs.
Thank you and good luck everyone!

Lizard202 · 15/10/2017 18:01

Omg amazing dinner....slow cooker pork loin, with cauliflower cheese (tastes so much better with cream), and veg plus courgette with chopped tomatoes and mozzarella. Leftovers for lunches!

Are tomatoes really bad? Just remembered they're a fruit ?!?!

How did you make the wraps please DrDiva?

Today's menu is
B: bacon. Just bacon Blush
L:chicken and avocado salad
D: pork with jerk seasoning, broccoli.

I'm off work tomorrow and dd is at nursery in the afternoon so I'm going to batch cook some breakfasts and lunches for the rest of the week.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 15/10/2017 18:16

So I'm really not hungry at all today. I did have a big breakfast but really didn't fancy lunch. I have ingredients for pork stir fly for tea but really don't fact it. Pork goes out of date today though so I suppose I'd better cook it and can have for lunch tomorrow.

B- half avocado, scrambled eggs, bacon bit of cheese
L- starter sized med vegetable and feta salad (this had surprise pomegranate in which wasn't on the menu but I think I managed to avoid most of it!
D- are you sure I can't just skip it?!

Veryflummoxed · 15/10/2017 18:18

I wrote a mammoth post continuing the theme of food and the way we ate in days gone by. It start with I think I’m the oldest person on this thread and ending with chocolate smoking kits, sadly I now leave the rest to your imaginations as just as I was about to post I was interrupted by a policeman at the door. (I am a foster carer and this is a frequent event). By the time I returned my post was gone.

Anyway I’ve not yet had time to catch up with the thread but what I really hopped on to say was just had celariac roasted in Coconut oil and it was delicious.

wombattoo · 15/10/2017 18:33

fern - done

SoMuchToBits · 15/10/2017 18:34

Do feel free to rewrite your post Very - I would have been interested to read it.

Really enjoyed our BBQ lunch. Now going to make Gratinée of eggs Basque for dinner. (Courgettes, garlic, green pepper, shallots, sautéed in oil/butter, add a small tin of tomatoes, cook for a few minutes then put in an oven dish, make some depressions and break eggs into them, 2 per person, cover with grated cheese and grill for 15 mins.)

Hippadippadation · 15/10/2017 18:45

Lizard looks good apart from the carrots!

SoMuch peppers are a bit carby for bootcamp. Otherwise sounds delish.

Timbuktu The rules say eat when you're hungry. It's still early, so don't eat now if you don't want to, but you might get hungry later on, so maybe have something light later?

Very another one who would be interested in your post.

Just forgot to add - my MIL is a fully paid up card carrying member of the low fat brigade (despite getting bigger and bigger every year I've known her) and despairs of me using real fat and giving the DDs a small piece of pork crackling etc. Apaprently I'm a terrible mother. OK love, if you say so.

DrDiva · 15/10/2017 18:47

low carb wraps

very I would love to read your rewritten post too! (And hope all is ok. Or as ok as possible.)

blackteaplease · 15/10/2017 19:02

Today has gone ok, notherwise enough water though as we've been to the beach for an outing.
Breakfast 2 poached eggs on ham with spinach
Lunch - random salad of lettuce, gherkin, cheese, half an avocado, a boiled egg and lots of evo
Snack - a small sausage from the chippy and 3 chips Blush while the kids had a chippy tea. Not ideal I know.
Dinner - more sausage, celeriac mash with mustard and baked mushrooms.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 15/10/2017 19:10

Very I might be older than you - I noticed that you were at uni 1975 and I’d just finished 1975. So I might have beaten you to it. Ps I was a teacher with children with emotional and behaviour difficulties - I worked with lots of kids in care - fostering is a hard job - with rewards too.

SoMuchToBits · 15/10/2017 19:19

Hippa, I am only using a small bit of pepper (less than it says in the original recipe) as I thought it might be a bit carby.

HarlotsWeb · 15/10/2017 19:31

B Parma ham and coffee
L cold chicken breast with skin on and a mound of lettuce drenched in olive oil
D The other chicken breast with skin on, but heated up, with a heap of courgettes roasted in Parmesan.

Will weigh myself for the first time tomorrow. Usually I am a daily and obsessive weigher, and am a bit worried about how I will react if the scales don't show a loss (previously this has always been a trigger for mad dieting behaviour Sad )

HolgerDanske · 15/10/2017 19:40

Good luck HarlotsWeb!

Drink a couple of extra glasses of water tonight (more, if you can!) to give yourself the best shot possible.

But if it doesn't show a loss we'll be here to support you in changing your previous mindset, sticking with the plan and having faith that your whoosh will come!

Have you taken photos/measurements yet? If you know you are likely to obsess over weight loss as per the scales this is a really good idea. Do it now and you'll have those to look back at over the boot camp to keep you on track. Or try on your favourite skirt/pair of jeans that really doesn't fit you atm, so you can use that as a visual guide to your progress.

Escapepeas · 15/10/2017 19:40

Day 7

B - Scrambled eggs with crab and some butter-fried mushrooms on the side
L - nothing (late breakfast)
D - This had the potential to be tricky as it was our first meal out while I was doing BC. I had pil-pil prawns for a starter, salmon with veg for mains and a glass of white wine. The salmon came with potatoes but I gave them to DH to eat.

Marking place

ilovecherries · 15/10/2017 19:46

I was born in 1958... Do I win the prize for oldest grumpy woman ;)? (And yes, I'm very aware that next year brings a very significant birthday. My husband assures me it doesn't hurt. Had my kids late though.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 15/10/2017 19:54

Ilove nope, 1951.* I win, I win.* 😜

Mimosa1 · 15/10/2017 19:58

B - chicken breast with feta, olive and pesto
L - scrambled eggs, guacamole, sausage and bacon
D - courgette noodles with bolognese and grated cheddar
S - a hunk of cheddar, 2 cups of milky tea, 1 square dark choc
W - 1.5L so far

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 15/10/2017 20:03

Thanks DrDiva. Are pork rinds the same as pork scratching?

ilovecherries · 15/10/2017 20:07

You sound much younger, oatcakes Grin

HolgerDanske · 15/10/2017 20:08

I'm feeling pretty restless tonight.

Brunch: Chinese chicken wings from M&S. Pretty high in carbs - 10g - so I will have to be careful today. No veg with it which wasn't ideal, but I'll make up for that tonight.

Dinner: will be Thai chicken broth. Again, is potentially quite carby so I will have only a little sauce and will skip the butternut squash. Don't know what yet, maybe some spinach

HolgerDanske · 15/10/2017 20:11

Dunno what veg, that should have said.

DrDiva · 15/10/2017 20:12

monkeys after my attempt, I have decided not - that they are drier. Mine clumped rather more than they should have. Still delicious though, and held in the filling well!
