Holger definitely constipation Shock

Thanks wombat will try and get some.

BrassicaBabe · 15/10/2017 15:50

Oh my! Cauliflower cheese has hit a new high!! Definitely going to have to portion control this one! Last week used sour cream because it was lower in fat (yes, I know! Grin). This week I've used double cream and bunged in a good wedge of Stilton! Bloody amazing!!

Thiswillbemyusername · 15/10/2017 15:51

Placemarking :)

NSV I've managed to persuade a family member into low carb-ing Smile great news for when we go round for dinner!

Gammeldragz · 15/10/2017 15:53

Dinner sorted - made a cheese sauce using 200g soft cheese, 100g cheddar and 50ml whole milk with a tsp of mustard. All melted in a pan and whisked until smooth. 2.6g carbs for all of it, half of it is a serving so 1.3g.

I am using it to make cheesey leeks but it would be great on cauliflower. Leeks are quite high carb with 100g being 14g carbs. Also having roast celeriac, cabbage and a small portion of carrots. Quite carby but these are the only carbs I'm having today, so total of 34g for the day is still low (under my max of 44g of worked out on macros, allowing 10% of daily calories from carbs), just more than I'd normally have in one go. But I need the veg as have been slacking on that this week! Will slather them all in oil and butter...
The pork chops are going to be amazing, lots of lovely fat!

BrassicaBabe · 15/10/2017 16:05

That'll teach me not to look things up Gammel. I had piles of leeks a couple of times last week! There I was avoiding carrots, but digging into the leeks. Will have to make a habit of checking these things out....

Hippadippadation · 15/10/2017 16:07

Brassica that cauliflower sounds amazing. I'm totally trying it next week!

Cherrypi · 15/10/2017 16:09

Anyone got any good hot, lazy lunches to replace tin of soup, tin of macaroni cheese, jacket potato etc? I've got easy cold lunches but normally fancy something hot in the autumn. Thanks.

prettybird · 15/10/2017 16:13

Home made soup? Cauliflower and Stilton or celeriac or spicy pumpkin with some olive oil swirled through it?

HolgerDanske · 15/10/2017 16:15

I still have tinned soups, I just choose carefully.

Also sometimes have tinned chilli, with avocado or guacamole on the side, plus some cucumber and celery cut into it for freshness/fibre.

Leftovers are great - any number of things work well the next day, just heat it up and add some salad or fresh veg.

Smoked mackerel gently warmed, eaten on a bed of sliced tomato and rocket, is nice too.

And I like crustless quiche gently warmed through. Or if you want to keep it lower carb, you can precook those egg gratin-type dishes with your preferred mix of veg and/or greens, plus cheese if you like, and bring it to work with you. Quick blast in the microwave and that's another tasty meal.

GrumpyOldFucker · 15/10/2017 16:21

@starsky22 thanks, I’ll try that!

SoMuchToBits · 15/10/2017 16:34

I like an omelette with some bits of veg (mushrooms, courgette etc) and grated cheese in for a quick, hot lunch.

Hippa, I think that's the way I'm going with my ds too. Generally he has eggs (fried or scrambled) on wholemeal toast for breakfast, with extra bacon, sausage, mushroom and tomato at weekends. Weekdays he has school lunch (2 courses, but small portions and the quality is good, no processed crap), and weekends he has what I have (a salad, omelette etc) but with a bread roll/pita bread as well.

He usually has one snack a day when he gets in from school (we don't usually eat dinner until about 7.30) which will be a piece of fruit (apple or a few strawberries) and/or a home-made biscuit. And no, I don't eat my own home-made biscuits! Grin Dinner, he has what I have but with an added carb e.g. if I have bolognaise and buttered veg, he has that but with pasta, if I have salmon in garlic cream sauce and veg, he has that with boiled potatoes etc. Drinks, he has one apple juice a day (with dinner) and drinks water the rest of the time.

He doesn't like fizzy drinks, and I don't buy any other snacks except the aforementioned fruit and biscuits. Sweets he only gets if someone has given them (e.g. Christmas, Easter, or recently when a friend gave me a box of fudge as a thank you for something I had lent her).

I guess that's not too bad. He knows I use real fats (butter and olive oil) and is happy with that. Fortunately he likes most veg and salad, and is happy to eat things like pork crackling.

Cherrypi · 15/10/2017 16:56

Thanks all. Are meat tin soups the lowest?

starsky22 · 15/10/2017 16:56

gammeldragz and brassicababe I also just had a panic about leeks as I have had them a few times this week, but have just checked and they aren't that high, the spreadsheet says 2.9g per 100g and Sainsbury's says 2.8g so they are fine for BC.

cherrypi I generally try to cook extra for dinner so that I have some leftovers to heat up for lunch, or buy the ready cooked chicken thighs and heat them up, but check the ingredients for the chicken thighs, Sainbury's coats their in sugar, very annoying!

Scabbersley · 15/10/2017 16:57

OMG TERRIBLE SUGAR CRAVING HELP

Cherrypi · 15/10/2017 17:03

Hot drink or spoonful of cream?

Scabbersley · 15/10/2017 17:04

I've had so many hot drink s!! I've had some yogurt but I'm freaking out a bit

HolgerDanske · 15/10/2017 17:08

I still it actually a sugar craving? Has something happened to make you feel sad or frustrated? Do you often feel a bit meh on Sundays? Is it something else that you want to eat your way out of?

If it's wanting to eat your way out of something, you might be better off doing something to distract yourself. Is there any little job or chore in the house that you have been putting off? If it will take you less than half an hour, do it now. Often working your way out of that feeling works very well, especially if you then end up accomplishing something that you can tick off your mental to-do list.

HolgerDanske · 15/10/2017 17:08

Grrr, that's supposed to say is it actually a sugar craving...

Scabbersley · 15/10/2017 17:13

holger! Yes it s a sugar craving. Don't feel at all meh, I've been working all day, currently cooking a roast!

wombattoo · 15/10/2017 17:15

Cherrypi On Sunday's I make a big pot of curry or bolognaise. I keep it in the fridge and just take a portion to work everyday for my lunch. This week it is lamb. My favourite Grin

Scabbersley Do you have any cream? A spoonful can make a difference.

HolgerDanske · 15/10/2017 17:17

Have you got any peanut Butter?

BIWI might yell at me for suggesting this, but when I am really, really craving it, I sometimes have a tiny bit of peanut butter, about a quarter of a teaspoon, and I just eat that very slowly, taking in the richness and sweetness of it.

But that's strictly against boot camp rules, so on your head be it!!

Otherwise, could you go for a 15 min walk just to get some fresh air and hopefully by the time you get back it will have passed?

Scabbersley · 15/10/2017 17:18

Definitely can't go for a walk. Ive made myself a pice of bacon Hmm

HolgerDanske · 15/10/2017 17:21

Hopefully it'll do the job...

Well done for riding it out!

Scabbersley · 15/10/2017 17:26

Feel slightly better. Having a cup of tea. We have lemon meringue pie for pudding SadEnvySad

Catbot · 15/10/2017 17:42

I made a roast dinner today using pulled pork. I just had veggies with mine and a smidge of gravy (although the roast potatoes looked amazing!) and I couldn't finish it! Unheard of!

I've had a couple of glasses of red wine on Friday and Saturday but not interested today.

Something's happening Hmm......
