Morning all. Very excited to hear the final scores!

Here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing this Bootcamp

What is an egg fast!!??

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/08/2017 11:55

Wayoftheaworld that is fantastic! but not sure I could cope with 5 days of eggs

MOIST · 05/08/2017 11:59

Way - that's amazing.
Stunt - that is also amazing. I have no off switch and keep eating until it is gone.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 05/08/2017 12:40

Basic rules of egg fast are 1oz cheese and 1 tbsp butter per egg. Can also add flavouring (e.g. Salt, pepper, sweetener).

I didn't think I could cope either but actually it wasn't too bad. I ate:

  • oppsie rolls or scrambled eggs for breakfast
  • egg mayo
  • cream cheese pancakes
  • snickerdoodles
  • cheese omelettes
-fettuccini alfredo (you bake an egg/mascarpone mix and then cut it into thin strips to mimic pasta)

I read about other people doing it on here so planned that I would do it straight after my holiday.

StuntNun · 05/08/2017 14:01

Moist that's how I used to be as well, but I'm getting there with recognising when I'm full even if I don't always stop!

Ollivander84 · 05/08/2017 14:14

Someone asked about soup earlier
Cauliflower cheese soup topped with crumbled crispy bacon is food of the gods. Especially made with a v strong cheddar and a bit of mustard < drools >

OldBooks · 05/08/2017 14:55

Clear I am very fortunate that DH is fantastic and has been very supportive. DM is another story. Good that you are being honest with your DH now and he is supporting you. Stunt your DH needs a talking to!

I must get on one of these egg fasts.

Ollivander it was me with the soup. That sounds amazing. Recipe?

Bibs2014 · 05/08/2017 15:00

Theway - wow I want to do the egg fast now too!

MOIST · 05/08/2017 15:45

Forgive me. I am a carby twat.

I have eaten fish and chips and ice cream.

In my defence the f & c was gluten free and you just can't go to Weymouth without having a Rossi's.

HemanOrSheRa · 05/08/2017 15:53

Bah. I think if you are looking at eating LC longterm then you have to make these sorts of 'allowances' MOIST. Honestly, what sort of life would it be if you couldn't have fish and chips at the seaside? Also, I pretty sure it's the law. So you are just being a fine upstanding citizen.

The thing I'm learning, now I'm not being gripped with panicky, I'm dying, hunger pangs is - not to eat ALL OF THE FOOD. I don't have to clear everyone elses plates 'just in case'. I have no off switch (with anything really).

OldBooks · 05/08/2017 16:20

It's great isn't it Heman. Such a revelation not to be picking at food all the time.

HemanOrSheRa · 05/08/2017 16:43

It is OldBooks. I still have a problem leaving food on my plate but I do pretty much all the cooking at home so I can give myself smaller portions. I have stopped eating DS's leftovers (or cooking too much so I can scoff Blush) and getting panicky if someone leaves food on their plate and having to eat it Blush.

I still get really hungry late at night for some reason Confused. In the past I would always have a very large, late supper. I just ignore it now as I am sure it's in my mind. I never wake up ravenous. I don't know what that is all about!

Ollivander84 · 05/08/2017 17:24

I think I vaguely followed this because I was roasting some cauliflower anyway! But I added a tiny bit of English mustard and used v strong cheddar

Hi everyone,

I'm still here but have had a busy week helping DIL get their house ready, they move out of my house next week and it's breaking my heart. They've been here since November, they moved in to support me and DH through the surgery and recovery and to give my youngest DS and his GF an opportunity to save up some money, clear student overdrafts and "play house" as it was the first time they've lived together outside a shared house. So loves young dream moved into eldest DS's house and agreed to cover the bills but didn't need to pay any rent (they have a lovely landlady Grin). Eldest DS, DIL and GC who are with them Sat - Tue each week moved in with us. They are expecting their first baby together in September and youngest DS moved out last week so that they can move back to their house.

I have got so used to having them here, it's horrible to think that next time DH goes away on business I will have some agency carer here overnight as a waking carer to respond to the alarms on my ventilator. But I know they need to go and build a nest for baby Alfie when he arrives, the GC are looking forward to being closer to school, it's about five minutes less walking time and coming to us for "proper sleepovers". I won't miss their mess or the constant running out of milk, fruit and washing powder but I will miss the early morning cuddles, waking up to find a warm little body next to me in bed, the hours of playing with glue and glitter in my studio and the giggles.

I have started training again, having not walked at all for six weeks I'm up to 250 steps, roll on GNR2019

Moist wow you look incredible and yes you need new trousers, about two sizes smaller.

Oldbooks I've been allowing carb creep too, I'm going to do an egg fast if you want to join me.

Cleareyes your post brought tears to my eyes because I could have written it myself word for word, especially letting myself go and not caring about my appearance anymore.

Wayoftheworld your egg fast results were fantastic.

Namaste bitches

ragz134 · 05/08/2017 17:49

Hello all, been a bit AWOL due to RL, but I've finished my placement and first year at uni, now have 3 weeks off!
I'm up for an egg fast, starting Monday, if anyone wants to start a thread for it or do it on here. I need a kick start as I've been sts for a few weeks. Bloated this week due to pain and taking ibuprofen (think I have ovarian cysts) which seems to give me puffy fingers and I assume means fluid retention. Egg fast would definitely help. Not sure about 5 days but 3 would be good. BBQ tomorrow though, hence starting Monday.

MOIST · 05/08/2017 18:17

Eggfast after my carb blow out sounds like an eggcelent plan. Grin

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/08/2017 19:08

I could have written it myself word for word, especially letting myself go and not caring about my appearance

C4 I've come around to thinking that not caring about our appearanceas it pertains to weight, mostlyequates to not caring about our health, which equates to low self-esteem. I expect some will hold a different point of view, as I would have at one point, but the more I think about it the more I believe it's true.

By the way, you're looking pretty good to me. You must care about yourself again. Flowers

...sounds like an eggcelent plan.

MOIST is here all week, ladies & gentlemen! Wink

C4pinkwheels · 05/08/2017 19:34

Cleareyes I agree with you 100% my self esteem fucked of and left me the day I became paralysed, getting it back took a long long time.

I'm happy to egg fast from Monday on this thread, can't see the need for a separate one.

ilovecherries · 05/08/2017 19:41

I'm so fucking pissed off right now. Sitting fuming in a restaurant toilet. Out in a biggish party for dinner. First of all someone suggested 'let's not sit next to our partners so I am between a sexist cockwobble and a woman who thinks DonaldTrump has a point. Then they suggested sharing dishes (which I hate anyway unless with DH or kids) So I pleasantly and assertively said that I'd rather order for myself. So the table is now groaning with rice, naan, chapati etc and some knob swiped my dry lamb dish and has handed it round the sodding table. I asked where my food had gone and this asshat said 'oh, surely it's so much more sociable to share.' WIBU to order myself take out and flounce out in the huff? Raging.

HemanOrSheRa · 05/08/2017 19:50

God. ilove. Speak to a waiter and order another dish. I have to say I do understand the sharing thing but I also think you made your point clear. What an arse he is. He should have at least said 'Who ordered this?' Angry.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/08/2017 19:58

Order another dish or twowhatever you needbut don't flounce. And don't fume.

MOIST · 05/08/2017 20:05

ilove. Order another 2 and get the waiter to spit in one of them. Then graciously pass the spotty one around.

I'd be so cross.

HemanOrSheRa · 05/08/2017 20:10

To be clear I understand the sharing of food if everyone is in agreement. We used to have takeaways with a family who ordered what they wanted, giving the impression that they'd share with what we'd ordered. Then just dump their food on plates Confused.

OldBooks · 05/08/2017 21:10

I was explaining the egg fast to DH, who said that 5 days sounded hard and we "might crack". He is master of bad jokes, there may be more.

Anyway I am in for eggy fasting from Monday! Let's do this!

Cleareyes definitely low self esteem, but for me also a subtle form of self harm. I am well read enough to understand the serious health implications of eating badly and gaining weight, yet keep doing it. Probably more damaging long term than my old habit of writing "fat cow" across my tummy with scissors. Those scars have long faded.

C4 how are your DIL and baby after the scare a few weeks back?

OldBooks · 05/08/2017 21:15

Oh and ilove that is shitty, you might have health requirements that mean you don't want to share, that's common enough surely? Isn't it more sociable to accommodate everyone's needs?

I had very disappointing meal out to local carvery cum pizza joint which has a bad rep anyway. We only went out as our boiler is being replaced and we don't have water so didn't want to cook. I ended up with a chicken burger and the most feeble, sad side salad ever. Obvs didn't eat the bun, but even just the chicken gave me indigestion Hmm
