Week 8 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - two months almost done ...

Morning all

Flowers

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once more

So the finish line is almost in sight. I see from the last thread that some of you have been struggling to stay on track - just three more weeks to go, so stay focused.

That 'it's only one piece of bread/one glass of beer' moment really isn't worth it. Been there, got the t-shirt.

If you're bored with the food - there are two things that could help you. Firstly, think back to the last time you were doing a low calorie/low fat diet - how awful was it to have to scavenge the shelves looking for something low calorie enough, and how often were you eating food that didn't actually taste that nice, but delivered only on the basis of being low calorie? Rice cakes that might as well be polystyrene ceiling tiles, for example!

And then go and read the recipe thread for some inspiration, and find something new to cook. There's nothing on there that's difficult to do.

I'd also say that I see a lot of you are trying to recreate things that are high carb - pizza or bread, for example. These things are very unlikely to be the same, or as nice, as the high carb versions. And all the time you're trying to recreate something you're missing, you're just reminding yourself that you're missing something!

So try not to do this, but focus on things that are beautifully low carb and that you can enjoy for their own taste and benefits.

Here's to a successful week for us all.

dustmotes sending you huge hugs, that sounds very very hard for you and in the face of it, keeping steady with the WOE is a huge achievement Flowers

CodLiverOil556 · 12/07/2017 21:27

dust sending hugs, hate the way some illnesses are downplayed just because no one knows enough about it. Really sorry you're feeling like poo, we're all here supporting you

Dust Well done for getting through. I'm so sorry that two things have hit you at once, with all the conflicting emotions, I'm not surprised you're struggling. I'll admit to knowing barely anything about M.E, but we care. Flowers

It sounds like you've had a very, very hard day and you need to prioritise being very kind and lovely to yourself for the forseeable future.

The news about your old 'friend' I imagine is very emotionally confusing but you are right, it's not your fault she was a bully and you rightly didn't want anything to do with her.

I can only imagine how hard it must be when it feels as though everyone is having babies but you. You're allowed to feel shitty about it - it's really not fair.

Two of my closest friends have ME it's an absolute bastard of an illness FlowersFlowersFlowers

WaaWaaWaaa · 12/07/2017 21:51

Fab pet pics and material open people! I'll take a pic of my yarn stash tomorrow! Lol.

Dust that's so sad. It must be like grieving for the child you won't (or feel you wont) have. I'm sorry if I've missed the reason why? Is it the ME? Sorry if that's nosy/ignorant. I know I have the girls now but they were the result of 3 rounds of treatment. It's hard when EVERYONE has so easily what you want.

C4 would love to come to your class but probably no where near each other! I'm in Bucks. Anyone else???

I'll have to attach a pic of my boy cat Harper tomorrow. Can't do it on my phone.

Night all

WaaWaaWaaa · 12/07/2017 21:57

Material porn not open.

And my cat is Jasper it Harper... darned phone

C4pinkwheels · 12/07/2017 22:02

Dustmotes you have such a lot to deal with and process.

First of all, don't feel guilty about the bully dropping dead and you having rejected attempts by her to befriend you because she felt vulnerable . I don't suppose she felt guilty about bullying you when you were vulnerable. I haven't shed a single tear over my mother who died recently, she wasn't a good mother, she wasn't a very nice person so you and I both have permission to not feel guilty

Your sister being pregnant is different and it's understandable that you are sad. You can be an auntie, just like I'm a long distance grandma. I said a few days ago how shocked I was the my DGDs ran into my arms when I hadn't physically seen them for years. Write to your sister and tell her how you feel and if you're both willing to put the effort in you can make it work. I don't understand the pain of not having children but I do understand emotional pain and so do lots of other people. You know it's good to talk so talk here.

Any chronic condition sucks and in general people don't understand how debilitating it is to be in pain and exhausted the whole time. You can't plan things because on any given day you don't know how you will feel. Well my friend, I understand you can talk to me anytime. I have lots of friends with chronic illnesses so you you are absolutely not alone. PM me if you want to

Sending hugs and lots of love

Just to remind people that these posts come up in active and some of those photos could be a bit identifying.
OK if you don't mind, but still, it's something to be mindful of?

(thinking of that ad on tv where they show how fraudsters gather information about you) using background information in pics etc.
Also, a lot of people use their pet's names or street names as passwords.

styledilemma · 12/07/2017 22:05

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid about these things? If yes, ignore me. Smile

On to food:
B - 2 egg omelette with butter
L - Cheese & ham with lots of salad.
S - 2 slices of flax bread with butter
D - Fried chicken with asparagus and brocolli.

Lots of water.

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 12/07/2017 22:07

BIWI · 12/07/2017 22:14

You're quite right @styledilemma! I was going to post a pic of my eldest son with boy cat but thought better of it for that very reason. Which is a shame as he is very handsome.

styledilemma · 12/07/2017 22:15

Scooby I know I'm a party pooper! Grin

I noticed that one of the critter pics had a van with a company name on it, possibly the town as well. I think we have to be a bit careful.

It surprises me when I log in and I see our thread is nearly always in 'Active'.
For some reason I think of this bootcamp as being private and it comes as a bit of a shock when I'm reminded that it's anything but! Shock

Naschkatze · 12/07/2017 22:18

Style You're right, I've given up on anonymity now though after I did a username search on myself (didn't even know this was possible until last week) and realised I am a total over sharer!

Might name change once BC is over!

Biwi Grin

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 12/07/2017 22:23

No you definately are right styled

It's funny because I'm very, very private on FB but quite open on MN because I feel anonymous. I bet if you username search me, you wouldn't be able to pinpoint who I was but you'd know shit loads about me.

I do namechange every 6 months or so -when I forget my password-.

styledilemma · 12/07/2017 22:30

I am embarrassed by all these good sewers, I really want to take it up as a hobby and make my own stuff but I haven't even unpacked my sewing machine from where we moved 18 months ago blush there aren't enough hours in the day! C4 your cupboard is making me 'well jel'! As is your stash giraffe

old Me too!
I've convinced myself I am and always have been rubbish at sewing.
I have bad memories of getting in a mess with the archaic sewing machines at school and never actually finishing everything. The teacher used to look at my 'work' in disgust tut tut at me and give me an F cow

I'm wondering if it's possible to learn how to sew later on in life.
Maybe I was never taught properly? Hmm
There must be tutorials on youtube

C4 (and the others who can sew) There's an opportunity there! Wink

Bibs2014 · 12/07/2017 22:45

I had such a lovely dinner of pan fried chicken, roast aubergine, smashed avocado with chilli and lime and lovely salty olives YUM!

starsky22 · 12/07/2017 22:46

I'm jealous of the sewers too and the sewing rooms! I have a machine and would love to learn to use it properly and make my own clothes or make adjustments to the ones I have, that will hopefully be too big soon!

Dust so sorry to hear what you are going through, please don't feel guilty or ashamed about how you feel, it's such a difficult situation to be in

Bibs2014 · 12/07/2017 22:53

Sending Flowers to dust.

I've had IVF 4 times and have 1 DS. I understand the longing for a child.

Can I just add that I love this thread, I know people might be over sharing but it's a great thread with lovely, caring people and I like to read about your lives.

HemanOrSheRa · 12/07/2017 22:59

Ooh that was probably my pic styled. EVERYONE locally knows my cat. I'm a complete over sharer in real life Blush.

styledilemma · 12/07/2017 23:09

I really want a sewing machine.

and a Sewing Room!
and a cat

C4pinkwheels · 12/07/2017 23:11

Sasha my DH said your cat looks very butch, exactly the same colouring as Elsa the shower pervert cat.

Giraffeski love your sewing cave
*
