Morning all

Flowers

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once more

So the finish line is almost in sight. I see from the last thread that some of you have been struggling to stay on track - just three more weeks to go, so stay focused.

That 'it's only one piece of bread/one glass of beer' moment really isn't worth it. Been there, got the t-shirt.

If you're bored with the food - there are two things that could help you. Firstly, think back to the last time you were doing a low calorie/low fat diet - how awful was it to have to scavenge the shelves looking for something low calorie enough, and how often were you eating food that didn't actually taste that nice, but delivered only on the basis of being low calorie? Rice cakes that might as well be polystyrene ceiling tiles, for example!

And then go and read the recipe thread for some inspiration, and find something new to cook. There's nothing on there that's difficult to do.

I'd also say that I see a lot of you are trying to recreate things that are high carb - pizza or bread, for example. These things are very unlikely to be the same, or as nice, as the high carb versions. And all the time you're trying to recreate something you're missing, you're just reminding yourself that you're missing something!

So try not to do this, but focus on things that are beautifully low carb and that you can enjoy for their own taste and benefits.

Here's to a successful week for us all.

I think drinking lots of water helps as well.

secretsignal · 11/07/2017 10:45

ClearEyes I love reading your posts. You're on the right track now, and we're with you every step Flowers

Sheepy no advice but fantastic effort! (I get posting anxiety too Smile)

Oliversmumsarmy · 11/07/2017 10:45

Someone mentioned the milk ladder.

I judge my allergies in how itchy and red I am after I have eaten something. I don't think I could not eat the malted biscuit. That to me would contain milk and dairy. I have had them before. The redness and itchiness starts on the front of my neck then spreads round the back of my neck up into my scalp, down my back and round onto the temples and down my face then around my ears.
I certainly couldn't eat anything else on the list.
Friends if we have been out to dinner and I have accidentally eaten something notice my neck going deep red and know I must have eaten something I shouldn't have. I spend the rest of the evening itching.

styledilemma · 11/07/2017 10:51

I weighed this morning and it was my lowest yet this bootcamp, weight loss so far 1 stone 1. I'm 2lb off my goal!
I can't believe I've broken my sugar addiction

Enid It's great isn't it? Smile

I was hungry last night and found myself cutting some slices of cold roast chicken to snack on.
For the first time in years, possibly ever, it didn't occur to me to reach for a sweet/carby snack.
I'm also a couple of pounds off goal weight.
I know the real challenge for me will be maintaining it and not allowing the weight to creep back on.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 11/07/2017 10:54

ClearEyes I love reading your posts.

Well that's good, there are plenty of 'em. Hmm

Seriously secretsignal what a nice thing to say. I don't have much expertise to offer but can be a helluva cheerleader.

sheepy re posting anxiety, just do what I do and blather away until somebody notices and comments nicely. Grin Mention the words carb, fat, and whoosh every once in a while...

ASD - thats amazing.

C4 - glad you've got a plan with the food. You need to eat, but you know that. Time you treat yourself as kindly as you treat others young lady. I LOVE the idea of the monthly packages you send! It must be soooo exciting to receive.

Nameless - glad you got some quality sleep last night. Its like being a thirsty man at a well. The smallest drink feels amazing after a drought! My husband and I take it in turns and he sleeps in the spare room. I have the monitor one night and him the next. We SOMETIMES even share a bed at the weekend! WOOHOO! They are getting better but sometimes still need a cuddle in the night.

Jimminy - that exercise regime sounds BRUTAL - well done you. Hope you're having a better day and well done on going to work and dealing with the situation. Very brave.

I've had a few leg cramps in the night - most unlike me but not for the past week so I'm hoping its gone!

Stunt - Stuffed meatballs - I had leftover (3/4s of a pack) of pork mince in the fridge that needed using up as well as some goats cheese. I put the mince in a bowl and added and egg (don't do this it made it too sloppy) seasoning, herbs, a little coconut flour to make up for the sloppiness (so without the egg you wouldn't need it) and grated cheese. Roll into just a bit bigger than a golf ball flatten pop a bit of goats cheese in the middle and fold the meat round the cheese until its sealed. Now my mix was still a little wet so I baked it. But a firmer mix could be fried. I made a tomatoey, herby, mushroomy, sour creamy sauce and served with courgetti. I have three meatballs with salad for lunch today too! BONUS! Very yum and hubby loved it too.

So Pork mice mixed with seasoning and herbs, stuffed with goats cheese and baked. YUMMERS. Will be on the favourites list. I think Mozzarella or any cheese would be fun in there too.

styledilemma · 11/07/2017 10:57

My tummy has gone weird. It looks like a (vertical) fried egg. I hope this is a good thing

Secret my belly has gone to look a bit 'jellified'.
I need to tone it up a bit.
I'm going bikini shopping later. Joy oh Joy Sad I hate shopping for swim wear. Everything always looks like shit on, especially in those harsh bright changing room lights.

I see it as a necessary evil to be got over and done with as quickly as possible.
Anyway, I'm getting side tracked Smile
I'm wondering if I'll have to go for those granny knicker bottoms, that come right up past the belly button - to hide my new 'jelly belly'. Shock
I hope not Hmm

Oliversmumsarmy · 11/07/2017 10:57

Just to add my doctor said my allergies were because I imagined them and were psychosomatic. Another doctor said it was my age (I have had this since I was a baby. I was covered in eczema as a baby. I don't think special milk had reached the north and if it had my mother wouldn't have entertained such "nonsense")

I only discovered that I might be allergic to wheat after a holiday to the US ten years ago (funnily enough when ever I holiday in the US I come back at least 1/2 stone lighter) and I couldn't eat the bread as it tasted like cake and I hate cake. After 2 weeks I developed patches of clear skin. I then cut out dairy as well and 10 days later for the first time in 45 years I was not itching. I had clear skin it was amazing.

styledilemma · 11/07/2017 11:04

Oliver
It's good that you have found what the culprits are.
Some people spend years (and lots of money) trying and never find out.

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 11/07/2017 11:05

ASD and Enid that's amazing, well done you pair.

Sheepy I'm in awe. I run half marathons, I find I don't need any fuel really, just water. It's hard going from about mile 10 though. I tried taking one of those squeezey packs of almond butter on a long training run once, but it was really sticky in my mouth & I was extremely uncomfortable & dry mouthed until I got home! However, you're obviously doing much more than a half! How about some nuts or fat bombs?

secretsignal · 11/07/2017 11:29

Style I think I'm going to have to stick with a one piece Sad

On a more positive note, I'm off to the charity shop with a big bag of clothes I will Never. Wear. Again.

Welcome to my shitty world - just when I think things can't possibly get any worse my gorgeous DIL who is 33 weeks pregnant is on her way to hospital because she hasn't felt little baby Alfie move since yesterday afternoon.
DS who is a chef won't be able to get to the hospital until 2:00pm, she has just left with her mum for the maternity unit.

She is only 21 but last year had to have a Fallopian tube and ovary removed, the other ovary has a cyst inside it so at some point she will probably lose it too. Alfie was an accident, she was actually just pregnant when she had surgery. They are currently living with us, just preparing to move int their own place. She had a baby shower on Sunday which I was too ill to go to.

Giraffeski · 11/07/2017 11:53

fingers crossed c4- she's doing the right thing by getting checked but hopefully it will be nothing to worry about x

SayrraT · 11/07/2017 12:06

I hope that your DIL and her baby are ok C4 I have my fingers tightly crossed for them. She is on her way to hospital which is the best place Flowers

secret and style not sure how much weight you have to lose but sometimes the fat going like that, all soft and squidgy, means that a whoosh is on its way.

SashaSashays · 11/07/2017 12:24

Seems like some people are really close to their goal. Well Done Halo Flowers

I woke up a 2.5lbs lighter today so am hoping that my sudden 5lb gain was just water. Yesterday and today I've done a bit of intermittent fasting and I do feel it helps.

As it seems like I went a bit mental on the berries and basically inhaled a bar of dark chocolate, I've cut them out. Not quite given up on the ice cream yet, but I only ended up having one meal yesterday as I felt bloated and full but by bed time I was peckish. 2 tbsps of Opposition was a saviour.

As of tomorrow I'll be starting the dreaded EGG FAST. I've been reading the thread on it and styles updates. Think I will be ok, maybe a little bored. Online there seem to be lots of 'hacks' but I'm more into keeping it simple and only reaching for those if I go to 5 days.

Goal is to do 3 days and push it to 5 if possible, but am entertaining Saturday night so might have some of the fathead pizza and then return to eggs on Sunday?

I'm going to have to drink coffee again as otherwise I fear I won't shit for weeks.

WaaWaaWaaa · 11/07/2017 12:44

OH no! C4 that's really scary. Hope they come back to you soon with news. Flowers

JiminnyCricket · 11/07/2017 12:47

Afternoon all :)

First day off diazapam since breakdown last week and I'm ok, managing on propranolol and I'm at work so taking that as a positive.

Day 2 of sitting next to MrsCambridgeDiet, today she has a milkshake for breakfast and what looks like a cuppa soup for lunch Confused.. she's been asking me about my gym routine because she saw me leave the office in my gym stuff yesterday so I told her about transform and my PT etc. In her expert opinion, the reason I'm losing weight on LCHF is because of my gym routine and not because of LCHF WOE Hmm, I very very nearly kicked off and pointed out that it's got fuck all to do with the gym and actually I lose more weight per week when I don't go to the gym at all! ARGH. I've got another woman on my bank of desks on slimming world and my token vegan friend sits opposite, so the conversation is ALL about diet and food Hmm

MrsCD will be gone again on Friday, not sure I can hold out until then without either lamping her with a slab of belly pork or trying to extract her from the cult by locking her in the store cupboard Hmm

PlymouthMaid1 · 11/07/2017 13:06

OliversMummy - I tried several times to make tofu edible with no success. On my final try recently (successful) I took it out of the packet and wrapped in it sever la layers of kitchen roll before squashing it a bit for hour or two. I wanted to get it s that it went firm and crispy when cooked. After unwrapping it and cutting into cubes, I fried it with coconut oil and sesame oil until it went crispy (this takes a while). On saturday I added to a chinese mushroom curry I made and it was actually quite nice. The texture was massively improved. Previous efforts had felt all 'eggy' to me and I hate eggs. So, squash, fry and cover in a yummy sauce of some kind, it becomes ok. Remember to 'fat up' your sauce as tofu is not a fatty food. I had buttery cauli rice.

NamelessEnsign · 11/07/2017 13:31

Jimminy good luck with today off meds! Can you give the trademark MN tinkly laugh when food comes up in conversation and just say 'but this is all so terribly dull isn't it darlings. What fun things have you done lately?' [toss hair over shoulder]

BIWI · 11/07/2017 13:38

@Oliversmumsarmy you seem to be resolutely ignoring any mention of fat/increasing fat in your diet. Is this deliberate?

OP posts:
BIWI · 11/07/2017 13:40

@JiminnyCricket I have long since learnt to walk away from arguments about low carbing with stupid people who don't - or more likely won't - listen.

It's often the case on MN - someone will spout off about it all being 'simple biology' or 'simple maths' - burn more calories than you consume, eat less/move more. Despite having no knowledge other than what they've read in the Daily Wail.

But I've realised over the years that they don't want to know any more than they already think they know, so I leave them to it. Unless I've had too much to drink

WaaWaaWaaa · 11/07/2017 13:49

Jimminy - BIWI is right. I recently heard a saying I think I'm going to use frequently from now on. "You can't argue with Stupid. The just drag you down to their level and beat you up with experience..." I've done CWP too. YIK I lost loads but it was hard... and no booze either for 6 months... I'm now fatter than ever!

BIWI · 11/07/2017 13:52

Here's one very good example ... Grin
