Morning all

Here's the spreadsheet - sorry to keep you all waiting!

So we have four full weeks before our final weigh-in - still time to lose half a stone if you stick at it.

Here's to a good week ahead Flowers

Oh damn I forgot my NSV pic

Week 7 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - are you still with us?!
Janeways · 07/07/2017 07:39

I made coconut porridge from the diet doctor. It was delicious though quite weird.

Melt 25g butter in a little pan and add 4tbsp coconut cream (I use the little cartons from sainsburys) 1 egg and 1 tbsp coconut flour. Heat gently stirring all the time for a couple mins. I also added a little cinnamon.
Good to have a change from the hard boiled eggs occasionally!

AdalindSchade · 07/07/2017 07:40

Lovely dress stunt and you do have a lovely figure.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 07/07/2017 07:47

Terrific NSVs and maybe a good motivation/reminder to stay on track over the weekend, when many slip.

I've often wondered if it would be better to have a Friday weigh in rather than Monday.

secretsignal · 07/07/2017 07:58

Good morning from sunny Yorkshire! Some fab NSVs, well done! C4 hope you're reading along with us and the respiration is improving. Happy LCing all!

prettybird · 07/07/2017 08:21

Meant to mention my NSV from last week: dh said that even though he always loves my body especially my boobs Wink, he said I had been getting a bit "flabby" but was now getting visibly firmer again. Smile

OldBooks · 07/07/2017 08:33

pretty that's great! My DH has asked, genuinely worried, if this WOE will make my boobs smaller! Oh and I love the infographic about bikinis that you posted Grin

Copperas · 07/07/2017 08:34

Good luck today everyone. Old Books, cutting out the dairy and snacks (odd bits of good stuff) is something I'm going to have to do. I seem to be in a holding pattern rather than losing. But still feel much better for this woe.

SashaSashays · 07/07/2017 08:48

This is TMI, BUT an essential word of warning although I get the feeling no one is as stupid as me to try the Atkins chocolate anyway.

So after the gentle laxative effect of my coffee I was feeling much much better stomach wise, although a little ridiculous at the timing of it all. Sat down last night and thought why not try one of those Atkins bars as PMT cravings were still around and I'd been really good yesterday otherwise.

It was actually tasty and not really any after taste, but very small. I'd bought what are basically the size of a penguin. So I had half another one and went to bed feeling much less generalised rage.

Couldn't sleep properly because of the coffee but I was dozing off a bit when I was woken by what sounded like furniture moving but was actually my stomach. I became the most acrid of thunder pants and had to retreat to the bathroom, where quickly realised I was going to follow through. Since then I had pretty continuous explosive diarrhoea for maybe 4 hours.

Drank a lot of water and went to sleep. Woke up this morning and not shitting but still gassy. I suppose I was aware they could have this sort of result. I'm 4lbs down but this is not a weight loss method I'd recommend. Lesson learned by me. I'm actually considering complaining to Amazon though, as surely these should be listed as laxatives not food?!

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 07/07/2017 08:58

sasha that's exactly the same effect all the sweetener based chocolate and sweets has on me.
I had gestational diabetes and was given some low sugar thorntons for Christmas. I had to go for an emergency walk to let all the wind out Blush
Though can be useful for constipation

ASDismynormality · 07/07/2017 09:01

stunt you look lovely in the dress, suits you.

oldbooks. They aren't going to stay up for long!
Things are going really well now (after a lot of stress) but may be a different story in the next school year- he has a brilliant teacher now but will have two next year who I don't think will be the same. Also we need to decide re secondary school which will be very stressful and require lots of visits and meetings. Also I am still waiting of the 1-1 he has had for the last 3 years will be funded again- I hope so as she's bloody amazing! At the moment I am very much enjoying the calm before the storm and concentrating on myself.

Hope everyone has a good day and keeps off the carbs. Am waiting for DD to wake up so we can go to the gym.

ASDismynormality · 07/07/2017 09:03

SashaSashays. That chocolate sounds evil, hope your stomach is feeling better now. I sometimes have Cavalier chocolate, its sweetened with stevia and doesn't seem to upset my sensitive stomach.

WaaWaaWaaa · 07/07/2017 09:07

Sasha - I'm so sorry but that's really amused me this morning! Its totally something I would do though... Hope you feel better soon :)

so today

B - Breakfast muffin
L - Leftover meatloaf and salad
D - Steak, mushrooms, Courgette

Snack - I have a pepperami and also duck crackling if I need it... (sorry i bought this now, especially 12 of them as they're not great but will do in an emergency)

Water - Gallons - its so hot at home I feel like I'm sweating it straight out. Thank god for aircon in the office.

Have a good day #namastebitches

starsky22 · 07/07/2017 09:07

sasha Shock will def avoid the atkins bars!

stunt you should wear more dresses, looks lovely!

oldbooks well done!

I like the Monday weigh in, means I make more of an effort to stay on track at the weekends, which I always find harder, lots of temptations!

AF arrived this morning, which explains my recent irritability and hoping that is why I'm also holding onto weight, don't think the muggy weather is helping either. Going to make an effort to drink even more water today.

Have a happy low carb day everyone!

JiminnyCricket · 07/07/2017 09:13

Anxiety shit has well and truely hit the fan.

I've made a mistake at work because I'm over stretched Sad It's pretty bad. Told my manager straight away and it's all ok for now (I think) but it's triggered a mammoth anxiety attack and I'm really bloody struggling.

I've booked an emergency GP appointment and I'm going at 10am but I'm in 2 minds whether to ask for some time off work. I definately need meds to get me straight again but i dont know whether i need time too Sad I don't know if I'm just going to spend the time at home stressed out of my box and panicking and I'd be better off at work sorting it out?

Either way i need meds and something to calm me down nowish so I'm on an emergency appointment. I feel bad about booking it in as an emergency but I can't wait 2 weeks to get this sorted.

I just want pizza and chips and a cuddle.

Sorry to rant at you all again Blush.. even from my recent posts it's pretty clear my mental health isnt great at the moment. Bear with me.

cathyandclare · 07/07/2017 09:21

Flowers and < virtual cuddle> Jim, you've got so much going on at the moment, something had to give. You've been amazing. Don't be too hard on yourself, we all make mistakes. It's great that your seeing your doctor and it sounds like it IS an emergency, the sooner you get help the quicker you can get meds again.

whispers < what about a fathead pizza instead?>

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 07/07/2017 09:22

OldBooks that's a great NSV!

Jane I've tried the coconut porridge before, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, it was a bit weird. But extremely filling!

Clear I usually weigh in on Friday or Saturday morning, I find it helps with the weekend, so you could be right there.

Jiminny it is an emergency. Hope you can get sorted soon. Have fathead pizza & halloumi chips. Unmumsnetty hugs.

ASDismynormality · 07/07/2017 09:22

JiminnyCricket. Be kind to yourself and have a virtual hug from me. Well done for recognising you need help and organising it. No advice re time off/ returning to work you need to decide which will be better for you. However if you do start taking antidepressants it would be wise to take some time off as they can make you feel so ill at the start.

styledilemma · 07/07/2017 09:28

I want to buy those ketosis strips but worried the chemist will give me the evil eye over it.

style bless you, why do you give a toss what your chemist thinks?

Clear I don't really care what the chemist thinks Grin
It's just I've hear that some chemists are reluctant to sell them to you if they think it isn't for a 'medical' reason, such as keeping an eye on diabetes etc.
Depending on the chemist, if they think it's diet related, they have been trained to quiz you about it.

Example from a low carbing forum:

'forum.lowcarber.org/archive/index.php/t-29682.html

styledilemma · 07/07/2017 09:33

Not sure if that link worked.
forum.lowcarber.org/archive/index.php/t-29682.html

If not, here are a few examples:

I just called Boots in Cambridge for Ketone testing strips and was interrogated like a criminal. They wanted to know why I wanted them, and I said I was testing for ketones, and then further questioning, so Isaid I was on a diet. She abruptly said, "Okay, right..I'm sorry, we're not allowed to sell them. Goodbye," and hung up:

What am I missing? I thought they were easily available and didn't know I was trying to purchase some restricted item. I know they are really for diabetics, but didn't want to be dishonest or rather, didn't think I had to be dishonest to purchase them.

Are there restrictions on their sale in the UK? (I hav only been here a few months) Maybe I can do without them, but I was curious to know if I am in ketosis.

Now I feel stupid for calling, and like I called to ask for ganja (marijauana)

Boots refused to sell my boyfriend Ketostix (that's the brand name) when he admitted he wasn't a diabetic, & they refused to give a reason. From what I've heard there aren't official restrictions on them, so I'm assuming Boots are just fascists. I don't have my boyfriend's scruples, so I went to Superdrug & lied- I said they were for my mum! - but they had run out.

Finally we got them from a company called Pharmacy4U, which I'm sure has a website (try Pharmacy4U.co.uk). After all that, though, we never use them any more! Maybe I will once I'm on maintenance. So don't worry too much about them

AdalindSchade · 07/07/2017 09:34

jim get yourself signed off. If you are struggling (and it's totally understandable that you are, stress hits me in my concentration bone too) then a) you need to take time to get sorted and b) getting signed off will 'legitimise' the stress and mitigate against the fuck up.
Your manager if thy are decent will much rather you take time to get your head straight and come back ok rather than try to muddle on potentially making mistakes. Honestly.

styledilemma · 07/07/2017 09:35

Anyway, enough about that.

I'm starting my 3 Day Egg Diet as from this morning.
I've had 2 days of falling off the wagon, so hopfully this will get me back on track and I will be 'back on it' by Monday.

Batten down the hatches!

KOKO! Smile

ASDismynormality · 07/07/2017 09:36

styled. I got strips like these from Amazon [https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0032IKZV6/ref=mp_s_a_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1499416508&sr=8-8&keywords=ketone+strips] definitely prefer ordering online!
