Good morning Flowers

So the last thread reached 1000 posts. I don't think that's ever happened on any other Bootcamp! It's a really good sign that everyone is engaged in the process, even if it's not always been from a positive place. If things aren't working for you, please keep reading and posting - even if you just lurk, hopefully the support and advice here will be helpful for you.

But it's a glorious day again, and the sun is shining brightly already and the birds are singing their hearts out. I hope that this translates into positivity and optimism for all of us this week - even if you've been struggling!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

We're past the dreaded weeks 4 and 5 now, so hopefully things will start to get going in the right direction, and you should see the weight move downwards - assuming, of course, that you aren't cheating or allowing carb creep.

Good luck everyone

Shasta at target weight there is definitely an option to reintroduce the higher carb fruits and vegetables, a small portion of rice etc. Everyone has a different carb tolerance so it may require experimentation into what and how often works best for you. When I'm at maintenance then I don't worry about things like flour in sauces or hidden carbs in sausages. I also add potatoes, sweet potatoes, apples, white rice in small amounts sometimes. I may very occasionally have a high carb food such as a slice of bread or a piece of birthday cake but not on a regular basis.

BIWI · 21/06/2017 13:24

My last PB on the deadlift was last weekend, when I lifted 80kg

@AdalindSchade direct him to the spreadsheet too - lots of interesting and helpful resources there; but I can also recommend that book

@JiminnyCricket - that's a serious amount of exercise you're doing! I agree with StuntNun though - don't start carb loading. You really shouldn't need it by now. I do all my exercise (two PT sessions, one on Saturday and one on Sunday) in a fasted state.

If you're not feeling gnawingly hungry after a session, that's a good sign - so you can ignore the emotional need! Seriously - you recognise it for what it is, so you know you can ignore it.

But if you are hungry, then something protein-based would be good - hard boiled eggs, or peanut butter on something.

When it comes to deadlifts, remember that the bar alone weighs 20kg.

The only other thing I'd say, based on having trained with a PT (on my own) for the last 5 years, is really make sure that they're making sure you're doing things with the proper technique. There's serious potential with all that you're doing, to hurt yourself because of poor/inconsistent technique.

But go you!

80kg!! ShockShock

C4 where did you buy those crackers? They look good

wombattoo · 21/06/2017 13:31

BIWI Wow - 80kg Star

JiminnyCricket · 21/06/2017 13:45

@BIWI 80kgs?? that's the weight of a great dane! Shock

Well after all my "im hungry" moaning this morning, I've just come out of Yoga, sat down to eat my lunch and I dont want it! Angry Appitite completely gone. Gah!! Totally goes to show it was emotional and not real hunger, I chilled right out in yoga, probably got rid of the anxiety I was feeling this morning and now suddenly I'm back to normal! I HATE my brain!!! Angry

Yep, technique is all fine, my PT is with me the whole session and corrects me instantly if I'm off centre etc.

stunt you can bugger right off with your "low weight" high rep Grin.. they don't feel low to me!!

Yoga was awesome, I managed to get into full happy baby which I couldnt do last week so if nothing else I've definately limbered up in the last week. Either that or the sumo lifts have stretched my arms Grin... couldnt get back out of happy baby again... but I'm calling it a win anyway Grin

Tonight I'm going to do precisely nothing. I whacked a joint of belly pork in the slow cooker before I went to the gym this morning which will be melty and lovely when I get home. Plan to have that with asparagus and gravy made from the cooking juices.

I spent a small fortune on a new laptop yesterday which is being delivered today, so I'll spend the evening setting that up and watching TV Grin

starsky22 · 21/06/2017 13:49

Hello! I know you're already in week 5, but can I join please! Started bootcamp at the weekend and am gradually working my way through the threads, which is answering lots of my questions.

Haven't done strict low carb for years, although I know it works for me. Have put on weight after 2 kids and was fed up of yo yo dieting so tried eating less/exercising more, but would lose weight during week and then put it on at weekend when I'd relax on the healthy eating front! So need something stricter and that I can stick to, hoping this is it!

BIWI · 21/06/2017 13:51

BIWI it's 80kg now Shock you could deadlift me! My personal best was 43 kg a few years ago BUT in my defense I was pregnant with DS4 at the time - my fittest pregnancy of all. I haven't had any time for weight training since DS4 arrived so I'm living vicariously through Jiminny.

Jiminny of course they're heavy but if they were even heavier you still might manage one or two lifts! I echo what BIWI says about making sure your form is good. Not only to avoid injury but also because you'll get better results if you're doing it right. It's all very well to keep upping the weights but a lower weight with correct form is far more valuable than a higher weight with poor form.

Thanks for the crackers tip C4. I have ordered some from Ocado Dust, I don't know where else sells them but Linwoods are a big brand so I'm guessing they'll be easy enough to get hold of.

C4pinkwheels · 21/06/2017 14:25

I got my crackers in Holland and Barrett.

Can someone recommend a low carb peanut butter. Now I've found the crackers I'm craving peanut butter and marmite on them.

starsky22 · 21/06/2017 14:29

Thanks! I've added myself to the spreadsheet, I think!

Bit worried that I have already made mistakes and eaten the wrong things (few seeds in a salad and some peas), do I start the 2 week bootcamp again, or just keep going?

This is today's meals:
B - bacon & mushroom omlette, with a bit of cream, cooked with butter
L - 2 chicken thighs with skin, broccoli & peas with butter, plus mayo
D - will be minted lamb chop with runner beans, cabbage & leeks, will add butter or cream to veg

Drank 2 bottles of water so far and on my third.

I am now aware that peas aren't the best veg for bootcamp, so will choose lower carb options going forward. Have also just realised that the minted lamb chops (from the Butcher so already marinated & no label to check) have probably got sugar in the marinade, is it likely to be enough to matter?

Started on Sunday and haven't felt hungry once, although lacking in energy yesterday and wanted ice-cream, not sure of that was diet or the heat though!

starsky22 · 21/06/2017 14:44

I'm sure someone recommended the whole earth 3 nut butter on one of the threads, (I've read quite a few recently) but it's 12g carb per 100g, however there is a whole earth mixed seed peanut butter which is 4.6g per 100g, is that low ebough?

nekobus · 21/06/2017 14:50

The whole earth mixed seed one is the lowest I've found.

And I'm glad someone else is living vicariously through Jiminny Wink I feel exhausted just reading her posts 😂

JiminnyCricket · 21/06/2017 15:33

The 3 seed while earth one is the one I have, it's lovely and very low carb Grin

You lot make me laugh, glad you're finding my torture sessions entertaining!

What's not entertaining however is the amount of pain my arse is in Blush I can feel the imprint of the spinning bike saddle between my usually well padded bum cheeks... so that's new.

I stood on the scales this morning and I'm back up to 16st 0, the cool bit was that I just rolled my eyes at it and it genuinely didn't bother me at all. That's a 3lb gain since Sunday, but I appear to be learning that scales mean very little Grin about time

I KNOW I haven't gained fat, there's no way I could have so it's all good Smile

BIWI · 21/06/2017 15:52

Much more likely to be water retention after all that exercise!

Firefries · 21/06/2017 15:52

Hi! I'm joining part way with you. Well done to you all so far! It must've left really good. So, I have been thinking about low carbing for several weeks now, and I was doing something similar but I realized I needed to drop nuts and seeds. And I want to drop wheat (I was having very little) so this is good for me, if you'll let me join. Wish me luck. Thanks.

BIWI · 21/06/2017 15:53

Here's a really inspiring story

OP posts:
L238 · 21/06/2017 16:08

Up by 3lb this morning too but I know that's probably water & refilling glycogen stores from the last few days that were slightly off plan. Like you Jim I felt OK about it as I've learned so much from you lovely people over the last few weeks. Hopefully they'll be gone soon.
B: black coffee
L: leftover Indian takeaway (lamb chops & chicken tikka with aubergine curry, salad and FF yog)
D: no idea, need some inspiration! Maybe salmon & veg with lots of butter.
Water: 1.5 L so far, aiming for 3

C4pinkwheels · 21/06/2017 16:24

I cannot believe the kindness I've found on this thread, offers of visits, food parcels and company. It has literally brought me to tears.

I've made it through the hot wrap and will return Tuesday to collect my new cast. The brilliant thing is that I've made it through without it being absolute agony. With the help of lots of Morphine but I figured needs must. I'm going to be sensible and go and do my afternoon ventilation and then get into a nice cool bath. This evening I want to do a bit of tidying in my studio and some ironing, probably just 5 items. I feel as if I've turned a corner in my recovery because things in the house are starting to bug me, I'm noticing mess and dust and wanting to do something about it. Hence the ironing, I ventured into the boiler room for the first time earlier this week and discovered the ironing mountain!!!
My PA is returning to a huge to do list!

Captain I always do Costa at the QMC, I bought one of these today, not much fat but very low carb and tasty.

Dinner - Thai tofu and vegetable soup. Quite carby at around 13g per portion as it has curry paste and mange tout but that's ok for me. Totally delicious.
Mange tout, cabbage, mushroom, garlic, ginger, chilli, tofu, coconut milk, curry paste, soya sauce and veg stock.

AdalindSchade · 21/06/2017 16:25

Oops pic
Should have chucked a spoonful of peanut butter in and it would have been perfect

wombattoo · 21/06/2017 16:48

Welcome starsky
As you say - peas are quite carby and should be avoided. I wouldn't worry now you have eaten the mint marinade, but personally, I would avoid it in future.

Welcome Firefries

StuntNun · 21/06/2017 17:26

Gah, a huge cooking fail today. I put my chicken in the oven to roast then managed to switch on the wrong oven. I wouldn't mind so much but that's the second time I've done that. I can't even save the chicken for another day because it's been warmed up by the other oven being on so it's going to take another two hours to cook. I've caved and ordered Dominos instead. Pizza for the DCs and meatballs and salad for DH and I. Oh well, looks like tomorrow's picnic for school sports day will be well catered for!

NamelessEnsign · 21/06/2017 17:40

nekobus the keto muffin report - meh.i toasted it with butter and it was ok, but really not worth it! In this house, the search for an acceptable Butter Transfer Device (like crackers or bagels or muffins or toast) (BTD if you will) is like the holy grail.

Naschkatze · 21/06/2017 17:43

Stunt You've just made my DH very happy as I told him the other day he couldn't have dominoes as there was nothing I could have! I don't even usually eat the pizza but I do like the chicken strippers. Didn't even know about meatballs!

Food today. Feeling very hungry:
B - Omelette, made with 2 eggs, almond milk, cinnamon and topped with defrosted berries.
L - at Ikea: salmon fillet, roasted veg. Came with a 'wheat pilaf' and two different carb counts were given in the nutritional info online. 1g or 30g HmmI didn't know which to trust so I left it! Halo
D - will be leftover crustless quiche and salad.
S - slice of salami and some butter, some pork scratchings.

Nearly 4l of water so far.
