I just remembered I had pork scratchings with the cheese yesterday. I felt unpleasantly full all evening. Today is a big family birthday picnic. I am taking my own LCHF and intend to be more abstemious today. Yorkshire I'm sure your prawns did you more good than my cheese excess did me.

CaptainBraandPants · 28/05/2017 07:44

ilove glad you are feeling better.
Heman that looks lovely.
style if you are genuinely hungry, then carry on eating as long as it's LCHF. Your appetite should reduce soon. However, if you are eating just because the food is there, then you may need to rein it in a bit. As far as exploded babaybels go, mine were always hit or miss whether they fluffed up or went flat.
Yorkshire best to avoid the chewing gum as we are trying to avoid sweeteners, too, as they can cause an insulin spike in some people. Drinking plenty of water obviously helps and I have a fennel tea as that makes my mouth feel more refreshing.

Look, I'm not BIWI and I don't own a big stick, but there is quite a lot of off piste eating going on and it's only week 1! BH weekends are difficult, I get that, but being placed in a position where it is difficult to not have carbs, doesn't then mean eating all the carbs on offer. It obviously doesn't matter to me, but this is a very unforgiving way of eating and if you want to see the results, you need to stick with it. I'm not saying this to offend/ upset anyone but out of my experience of 4/5 bootcamps, where I have only managed to complete the last one I did because it is hard to keep going. However, the benefits are enormous.
{flowers] to everyone and koko.

ChesterDrawers · 28/05/2017 07:56

Style what ratios did you use for your mini milks. I have almond milk, cream and lolly ice moulds at the ready!

Today's plan looks like this...
Brunch after DS's shockingly early football training: bacon, scrambled eggs, avocado
D: slow cooked Greek lamb, marinated in olive oil, lemon juice, rosemary and oregano, Greek salad with feta and olives

Might have a snack mid afternoon if I need it.

OldBooks · 28/05/2017 08:06

CaptainB you are absolutely right. I feel horrible this morning, indigestion, bloating, headache, reflux. I am never having wheat based carbs again! Ok that sounds dramatic but honestly it wasn't worth it.

So I am drawing a line and starting again Smile

And apologies for having so much support and helpful information and recipe ideas here and yet still going off piste Blush you are all fab and very inspiring. I need to get my head in order

NigellasGuest · 28/05/2017 08:21

Last night I had low carb lasagne- replace pasta with slices of aubergine and make cheese sauce by melting cheese in double cream

cathyandclare · 28/05/2017 08:50

Morning all!
Not too bad yesterday food wise, it's so much easier when it's sunny, BBQs are made for LCHF apart from the booze
B: Creamy coffee
L: bacon, mushroom and egg
S: Home made burger (all beef) with aioli, guacamole and lots of salad

Snack: Pork crackling puffs - tbh i shouldn't have had these, i wasn't hungry at all, I just wanted to try them and ate the whole packet Blush
Pretty low carb day, definitely under 30g I think.

Yes, if you eat a whole punnet of raspberries it's bad Hmm

Yes, if you don't drink the water it's going to be a problem for you

No, you needn't worry about eating too much, as long as it's low carb - eat till you're satisfied (which doesn't mean stuffing yourself)

Yes, alcohol is forbidden for the first two weeks

No, anything with artificial sweeteners is not really a good idea. If you're suffering from bad breath (a good thing - it's a sign of ketosis), THEN DRINK MORE WATER

Thanks for borrowing the big stick Captain Grin

WE HAVEN'T EVEN FINISHED WEEK ONE YET AND THRE'S TOO MUCH CHEATING GOING ON

... as well as simply not bothering to follow the rules

Bootcamp is designed to be easy to follow. You don't need to weigh, count, register on MFP or anything else. Just follow the rules.

It works. But you just need to trust it! If I could, I'd do it for you and no doubt make millions along the way Smile

Tomorrow is weigh-in day and hopefully you will all see good results. But don't sabotage yourself.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 28/05/2017 10:31

Morning everyone! Lovely morning, or it would be if my selfish twatty neighbours hadn't been out in their garden making a racket until gone 1am and then once I finally got to sleep I got woken up at 4.30am by a fuck-off giant wasp in the bedroom Hmm

Anyhoo, my turn to be up with the kids this morning. Creamy coffee and 2 rashers of bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and 1 fried egg for breakfast which is less than yesterday but feel satisfied.

For lunch I am thinking of trying courgette and feta fritters otherwise will have a tuna mayo salad.

Hurdle today is early dinner at MILs - but as it isn't at a normal mealtime I don't expect to feel too deprived if there is not much that I can have. The worst bit will be watching everyone else tucking into pudding 😫

MaryThorne · 28/05/2017 10:37

Breakfast, fried in olive oil and butter. Yummy! Grin

I had a really nice dinner last night, it was chicken breast, leeks cooked in butter and cream and mashed celeriac with salt and pepper courgette and a few French beans.

Day three today for me of hflc and not smoking. I had a cold shower this morning too. I'm really excited.

ilovecherries · 28/05/2017 10:56

Slept well last night, and feeling fine again today. I'm hoping Friday was just a blip caused by heat, insomnia and general knackerdness. Had a late full cooked breakfast, without the toast but with additional fried aubergines and some roasted tomatoes. Have done my menu planning for next week, and just about to hit Sainsburys. Have decided I really need a (much bigger!) fridge. I know I could shop more frequently, but the nearest supermarket is 25 miles away and local shops aren't great. We have a decent butcher in the village, but no fish shop or greengrocer so on Mondays my fridge is bursting at the seams.

cabbage67 · 28/05/2017 10:59

Nigella- I did the exact same the other day...absolutely lush! what a difference full fat mince makes as well compared to the 5% fat I usually have.

bellalurgy · 28/05/2017 11:05

Haven't dropped by for a couple of days and you've all moved to a brand new thread!

Still on it. Will weigh tomorrow with everyone else but as I'm on about week 15/16 it won't be dramatic.

Brunch will be a fry up
Dinner will be fathead pizza (not BC but BC light)
Creamy coffees x 2
And an almond hot chocolate.

Will try almond iced coffee, sounds yummy.

Lots of struggles going on but lovely to see you're all so determined to succeed with this. Star

HemanOrSheRa · 28/05/2017 11:06

Morning!

I know people have mentioned vivid dreams but has anyone else's sleep improved? I am sleeping like a log! I must have dropped off at about 11 last night. I woke at 5 which is amazing for me. Fed the cat, let the dog out, drank some water. I thought I would read for a while until it was an OK to get up and start rattling around - I fell asleep and woke up at 10 Blush. So I've had about 9 - 10 hours sleep! That never happens unless I'm on holiday.

I also have a horrid taste in my mouth. A bit like stale wine Confused. Grim.

ShastaBeast · 28/05/2017 11:15

Nigella's lasagna reminds me of aubergine parmigiana which is probably a good low carb meal. I'll have to dig out the recipe. It would go nicely with some roast chicken pieces. Chicken cacciatore is similar or is too much tomato a bad thing?

cabbage67 · 28/05/2017 11:19

OK, so I weighed myself on Friday again and still no weight loss. Period is 5 days late now so am hoping its all just water retention and when the pesky things does decide to arrive I will be 1\2 stone lighter.

Was invited to friends on Friday and Saturday for dinner, and the starter had bread in it, which I ate for fear of offending. However, the main was fondue, so just dipped loads of raw veg in runny cheese and meat into hot oil and avoided anymore bread. Did have two strawberries with creme fraiche, to be polite but declined the meringue. Forgot to mention i did have a few spritzers though.

Saturday evening I only had a small vodka and slimline, but dinner was two very small M&S empanadas as aperitifs and a chicken salad with a baked potato. I ate a 1/4 of the potato so as not to appear rude again.

Weighed myself again this morning and my weight is exactly the same still

How does everyone else deal with dinner at friends? I don't like to mention that fact that I'm dieting or whatever you want to call it and just try and eat the best I can.

I've noticed that quite a few people are eating things "to be polite". What?? It is your mouth and your body and it is possible to gracefully decline without being rude - and if someone thinks you are rude then that says more about them than you.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 28/05/2017 11:44

cabbage I just say that the verboten food looks delicious and I would love to try some, but I can't eat starchy carbs at the moment. I try not to elaborate too much.

ShastaBeast · 28/05/2017 11:45

C4 - diet alone makes a big difference so no pressure to get exercising too soon. I found exercise made it a bit quicker but I lost without it in the past - I used a wii fit at home when I couldn't get out due to small kids. I'm going to the gym now but am quite restricted in what else I can do - no classes including Pilates and yoga, so no more suggesting it anybody, as if I'd never thought of them. I started going to get fitter/healthier but it has made me stronger which helps with the muscle wastage from nerve damage and pain. There are personal trainers who specifically help people with disability so I feel able to trust them and say no if it's too much.

I went to an amazing pain clinic which really changed my way of thinking, although not the pain/mobility. I wouldn't be doing this type of diet without addressing some issues there. it's easy to eat badly when your body doesn't work properly.

cabbage67 · 28/05/2017 12:12

The Way - Yes you are right, it is my mouth and my body and they are also my friends who I don't want to offend by not eating something that I would ordinarily eat, when they have gone to a lot of effort.

Maybe I'm too considerate, or overthinking things.

SayrraT · 28/05/2017 12:16

It can be hard to avoid eating carby things sometimes but I try to either just leave them and if asked say "oh I don't/can't eat x". Or eat everything else first and then be too full for the potatoes etc.

Or change the focus into something else, i.e "yum, that asparagus wrapped in bacon is delicious, do you mind if I have a bit more? Oh no, now I don't have room for ice cream/dessert!"

CodLiverOil556 · 28/05/2017 12:16

NSV for me today, bought this for last Christmas do and I couldn't get it past my hips never mind do the thing up....clearing out my wardrobe and chunked it on, still a bit tight but I could do it up!
