@ BIWI, I've been eating small portion of protein (i.e., two eggs, fish fillet, chicken thighs) etc twice a day. Everything cooked in butter, and each of these 'main meals' accompanied by a large green salad with olive oil, or at least two cooked vegetables dressed with butter. Breakfast has been FF yog. I've had one creamy coffee per day (a usual amount of caffeine for me). Very weak black tea a couple of times a day (also normal) , and 3L water (which probably represents a 1.5 litre increase from normal). Don't usually use salt, but have been careful to add it to all my vegetables and salads this week, and I haven't been feeling hungry at all between meals.
Post menopausal. Last time I had alcohol was xmas. I've had a total thyroidectomy for a tumour, but that's not recent. Well managed on thyroxine, which was only checked two weeks ago, when all my bloods were normal. I've been gaining weight on a very low fat/high carb diet, and was always hungry on it. Reason I wanted to try this was my blood glucose is still within normal limits but has crept up over the last two years, and I want to nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem.
I've mentioned elsewhere that my GP is a proponent of very low fat/high carb diets - it's all he 'believes' in, and strongly believes in the calories in/calories out method of weight loss. He would not support this, but not because it's not good for me, rather he simply doesn't believe in it.
I normally walk about 5 miles a day, have felt exhausted all week though, so today was the first time I tried it, and only did half my usual distance. Have also had terrible insomnia all week, but also a complete remission of IBS symptoms, which normally plague me.
I do feel a lot better now, although I'm nervous of it happening again. It didn't feel at all like a panic attack. I've (obviously!!) hit Dr Google, and it seems to be suggested that palpitations and tachycardia is a fairly common problem with LCHF diets, usually due to electrolyte imbalance. But I've eaten salmon a couple of times this week, and spinach either raw or cooked, plus avocado every day, and I'm reluctant to start messing around with mineral supplementation, especially potassium, which seems to be a bit of a minefield.
