Oh no @adalind that's what i'm afraid of happening to me as i'm going away with the family next week!

readyforno2 · 26/05/2017 23:19

I can't believe we've moved onto a second thread.
Today has been absolutely ROASTING. I can't manage with the heat..

b- mushrooms fried in butter
L- salad with chicken mayo
D- exactly the same as lunch. Could not face cooking. Plus, I got my oven cleaned yesterday and I don't want to use it!

I have no idea how much water I've drank but I've had at least 3 pints since the dc went to bed.

I've also booked a holiday for dh and I, leaving 1st July. The dc are away for a week with the gp and for the first summer in ages dh is actually home. At the moment I'm 13st 11. I want to lose at least a stone by then.

Billionnairewannabe · 26/05/2017 23:26

Ilove - hope you're feeling better. My son has Type 1 Diabetes and those seem like low blood sugar symptoms (hypoglycaemia) so definitely get it checked out.

Day 5 and still going! - I'm definitely in the zone now!!
B- FF yoghurt coffee with cream
L - smoked salmon & prawn avocado salad (fast becoming my go-to meal)
D - burger with salad

3l+ of water - its still sweltering here!!

Mandelinka · 26/05/2017 23:29

Had a good day today

B: onion, mushrooms, spinach and salami stir fry with cream
L: big mixed salad w roasted chicken, mayo
D: leftover roasted chicken, courgette spag, onion, cheddar cheese, dollop of arabiata sauce

Snacks: tried 2 new things I've discovered here on BC, cream cheese pancake and exploded baby bell. Pancakes were ok, added cream to the batter and cinnamon. Needed perhaps vanilla or something else as it tasted too salty.
For the exploded baby bell I used small chunk of Port Salut, pretty much the same consistency of BB. Microwaved for 2 mins and it turned out perfect ( again maybe too salty for my liking, but enjoyed it nevertheless). Used lot of coconut oil in most of my dishes today
Also had a cream coffee.

Water/green tea at least 3 litres
Sadly, hardly any excercise.

Mandelinka · 26/05/2017 23:30

Off to bed to enjoy a vivid dream 😜

ilovecherries · 26/05/2017 23:42

@ BIWI, I've been eating small portion of protein (i.e., two eggs, fish fillet, chicken thighs) etc twice a day. Everything cooked in butter, and each of these 'main meals' accompanied by a large green salad with olive oil, or at least two cooked vegetables dressed with butter. Breakfast has been FF yog. I've had one creamy coffee per day (a usual amount of caffeine for me). Very weak black tea a couple of times a day (also normal) , and 3L water (which probably represents a 1.5 litre increase from normal). Don't usually use salt, but have been careful to add it to all my vegetables and salads this week, and I haven't been feeling hungry at all between meals.

Post menopausal. Last time I had alcohol was xmas. I've had a total thyroidectomy for a tumour, but that's not recent. Well managed on thyroxine, which was only checked two weeks ago, when all my bloods were normal. I've been gaining weight on a very low fat/high carb diet, and was always hungry on it. Reason I wanted to try this was my blood glucose is still within normal limits but has crept up over the last two years, and I want to nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem.

I've mentioned elsewhere that my GP is a proponent of very low fat/high carb diets - it's all he 'believes' in, and strongly believes in the calories in/calories out method of weight loss. He would not support this, but not because it's not good for me, rather he simply doesn't believe in it.

I normally walk about 5 miles a day, have felt exhausted all week though, so today was the first time I tried it, and only did half my usual distance. Have also had terrible insomnia all week, but also a complete remission of IBS symptoms, which normally plague me.

I do feel a lot better now, although I'm nervous of it happening again. It didn't feel at all like a panic attack. I've (obviously!!) hit Dr Google, and it seems to be suggested that palpitations and tachycardia is a fairly common problem with LCHF diets, usually due to electrolyte imbalance. But I've eaten salmon a couple of times this week, and spinach either raw or cooked, plus avocado every day, and I'm reluctant to start messing around with mineral supplementation, especially potassium, which seems to be a bit of a minefield.

ilovecherries · 26/05/2017 23:53

All that's changed, I guess, is that I suddenly slashed the levels of carbs in my diet by about 95%, literally overnight. I was a huge sugar consumer, but 'healthy' carbs were all fair game, so masses of fruit and whole grains. And I just stopped that without warning.

ilovecherries · 26/05/2017 23:53

wasn't a huge sugar consumer.

styledilemma · 26/05/2017 23:55

I overcharged, how about you upped the tomatoes a bit (get some more potassium in you?)
Also, would it be worth you taking a good multivitamin once a day - purely to cover all the bases?

styledilemma · 26/05/2017 23:57

Oh I just saw, your update and you say you don't want to up your potassium.?

ilovecherries · 26/05/2017 23:57

I can certainly eat tomatoes, I love them, and they are the one thing probably that I've missed!

ilovecherries · 26/05/2017 23:58

No, I'm happy to up it through diet, I'm nervous about potassium supplements though, because I've seen people get it a real pickle with these.

styledilemma · 26/05/2017 23:59

don't know why my spell check called you Overcharge Confused

ilovecherries · 27/05/2017 00:01

Ha ha, I was wondering what that meant!

styledilemma · 27/05/2017 00:05

I didn't mean to take potassium supplements. I meant take it through food. tomatoes (like bananas) have naturally high levels.
I'm only suggesting it because you say you felt better after your husband made you eat a banana.
Of course that could have been the sugar, or the potassium , or both.

Glad to hear you're feeling g better now. I agree with the others that maybe you should get checked out before continuing.

ilovecherries · 27/05/2017 00:10

Yeah, it's puzzling. Although I've felt unwell all week, I was prepared to accept I just needed to push through it, but today did scare me. I think suddenly waking up with it probably freaked me out a bit as well, so I probably did add a surge of adrenaline to the mix too. I've had a very quiet evening, but I do feel absolutely back to normal now - just nervous. Holiday weekend of course so no chance of seeing a GP. Im hogging this thread somewhat...

PlymouthMaid1 · 27/05/2017 00:20

Dont worry about hogging Ilove. I hope you get to the bottom of it and am pleased you are feeling better. It all adds to our understanding of Lchf anyway.

HemanOrSheRa · 27/05/2017 00:51

ilove I found this eaelder on the Diabetes UK website. If you scroll down the page there is a section on keto flu. It mentions a racing heart rate when lying down and goes onto suggest cutting carbs gradually. Obviously it's all guesswork and I can understand completely why you wouldn't want to see your GP as he so against LCHF. I am glad you are feeling a little better Smile.

Cherrypi · 27/05/2017 07:18

Hope your ok today ilovecherries. Meals yesterday were
Scrambled eggs and bacon
Chicken and avocado salad followed by Greek yoghurt with cacao nibs
Duck and pork stir fry with bean sprouts.
Snacks babybel. A cream cheese pancake. Pork scratchings.
Three coffees and 2.5 litres water.

Cherrypi · 27/05/2017 07:19

Not bacon, mushrooms.

ChesterDrawers · 27/05/2017 07:24

Morning all,

Slept so badly last night and woke at 6am. Am shattered!

Today:

B: eggs, bacon, avocado
L: out at party with DS so not sure. Will try to hold it til we get back
D: going to try that shawarma marinade on skin on chicken thighs, with salad and home made coleslaw

cathyandclare · 27/05/2017 07:32

Hoping you're feeling better Ilove lots of potassium in avocados, sprouts, mushrooms and courgettes too

Went a little off piste yesterday, long day at work and eating on the run.
B: Creamy coffee, hard boiled egg
L: Pret Italian chicken salad without the peppers
S: Ran for the train, so no time to get food, food service rubbish so errrr ended up with a bag of nuts, a chunk of cheese and a gin and slimline tonic Blush
Not very nutritionally sound, but bootcamp light at least!!! Today will be better. On a more positive note, I've lost 5lb so far!

BIWI · 27/05/2017 07:32

ilovecherries - it does sound like the cutting out of carbs so suddenly is responsible, so I'd suggest that you try having a slice of whole meal toast each morning, for the next few days, and see what happens. However, I'd also be worried about your thyroid medication, and I think it would be a good idea to get yourself checked out by your GP - or probably another GP at your surgery who is a bit more open-minded!

littlebillie · 27/05/2017 07:43

I did brilliantly all day and last night after preparing for sugar fuelled sleepover and BBQ today I had a piece of water melon and a slimline g&t just needed a treat 😕 feel stupid today as I was doing so well

ImALurkerNotAFighter · 27/05/2017 07:43

ilove i. hope you feel better, that sounds terrifying!
Meals yesterday:
B: Total yog and double cream,. with a little vanilla powder. Coffee and double cream.
L: 2 waitrose free range sausages, 2eggs scrambled.in butter and spinach wilted in butter.
D: Rump steak, sainsbos peppercorn sauce, asparagus and spinach cooked in butter.
S: prosciutto and mozzarella.
I am tracking as i find it helps me keep going. 16.1g of carbs for the day! I also resisted DH offers of my favourite beer......he then sat next to me drinking it! Hmm
Is anyone just eating little chunks of butter from time to time? I find it really satisfying Blush. So a sneaky early weigh has me -5lb. 1.2lb until i cross from the 17s into the 16s! Good look this weekend everyone, and have a lovely holiday BIWI
