Evening all!

I'm starting this thread now as I have to leave early for work tomorrow. and I know how keen you'll all be to weigh-in first thing, so won't want to wait until I can get round to getting it up and running Grin

Here's the link to the lovely shiny new Spreadsheet of Fabulousness ]] for which many thanks, SayrraT.

Your name should be on it, but if it isn't, just add it at the bottom. Don't try and re-alphabetise the list - Sayrra or Wombattoo will do that later.

And don't touch the blue cells!!!

Hi everyone, this is my first bootcamp, although I've already been sort of low carbing for a while. It's the fat I need to increase really.
My motivation is that I've started dating again after a very long term relationship ended.
I need to read all the info and get my head around adding up how many carbs I need a day. I'm hoping that it will soon become second nature and I won't need to add them up daily.
I love recipe ideas people are posting. Keep them coming! All the advice is great too.
And thank you for setting this up. It must be a bit of an administration nightmare.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 23/05/2017 08:17

About to attempt adding myself to the spreadsheet of love (or whatever it's called). Wink

5'4", 212 lbs (down from 236 in October so starting on a positive note, none of this Sad stuff for me).

After a truly dreadful several years of 'life's rich fecking tapestry' I am ready to become the healthy person who will see me into my dotage. I truly believe this is the most important thing I can do for myself.

HemanOrSheRa · 23/05/2017 08:18

Morning! Ugh. I had the most dreadful nights sleep even though I was knackered Confused. I'm not a great sleeper anyway so it was bad. I'm feeling OK though, no headache! I hope I sleep better once this sugar withdrawal has gone.

Menu for today:

B - a slice of crustless quiche that I made last night (like a big breakfast muffin). Hot water with lemon. Small coffee with cream.

L - mackerel pate, lettuce leaves, celery and cucumber for scooping. Olives and a dill pickle.

D - undecided. I am working this morning then on call from 7pm tonight so it needs to be quick and filling. I've got plenty here to create something!

S - I may need these if I'm up in the night and will be a trigger point for me. I have olives, cheeses, ham, salami and pork scratching crisps.

W - 3.5l.

Hope everyone is OK Smile.

AdalindSchade · 23/05/2017 08:23

nosock on boot camp you don't need to add up carbs just make sure you follow the rules!

A weird and possibly TMI side effect I have noticed is that my ahem poo is less ahem noxious...it's harder to go as I guess the carbs must bulk it up to make it move easier but when I do it's less unpleasant! Sure that must mean I'm eating less wastage?

Veryflummoxed · 23/05/2017 08:35

Getready the thread will start to slow after the first week or so.

TheVicarOfNibbleswicke · 23/05/2017 08:38

Ugh I'm such a dimwit but can I ament the spreadsheet on a mobile?? I really want to join but can't figure out how to add my name to it, if someone could help??

glenthebattleostrich · 23/05/2017 08:41

Morning everyone,

How are we all feeling today?

Some delicious sounding meals from yesterday, my little book of food ideas is already starting to fill up so thank you for those. I've also ordered a couple of vests in the size I will be for my holiday so will do the photos of that when they arrive. Stunt, the chai latte sounds delicious, do you think it would work with coconut oil added? Do you just warm the milk in the microwave?

Today's food will be:

B Greek yogurt, chai tea with double cream and coconut oil
L ham, cheese and cucumber sticks (out and about most of the day)
D salmon in a prawn and cream sauce with roast asparagus

I'll have anothercup of tea at 4 when the monsters return from school.

Off to softplay this morning so taking my crochet with me as I can't snack and make stuff. The kids will be having jammy toast while I snaffle their butter 😂

Water is looking good, I've dug out my filter jug and keep it topped up. I find it so much easier to drink when it's ice cold with a slice of lime or grapefruit in it. I also find cold, chilled herbal tea really refreshing and good for the sweet cravings in the afternoon, think it's ok to have?

Hope everyone has a good and safe day

boldlygoingsomewhere · 23/05/2017 08:41

I love getting meal inspiration from these threads. I love how simple low carb meals can be - especially after a long day at work.

Dinner yesterday was mushrooms fried in butter, wilted spinach, haloumi cheese and some grated Parmesan. Delicious and very easy!

AdalindSchade · 23/05/2017 08:42

If you download the google docs app you can amend the spreadsheet from your phone

Naschkatze · 23/05/2017 08:43

Can anyone help?
I've woken up feeling horrendous! Nauseous, faint. Confused pretty sure it's the low carb and not just illness because I don't really get ill! I've managed to grab some FF Greek yoghurt with cream and a boiled egg quickly but now I'm feeding DS so haven't had any more to eat.
I will have a second breakfast when he's done!

I definitely drank enough water yesterday, 3l plus two cups of tea. I was hungry when I got up to feed him in the night - normally I'd grab a slice of toast/some Belvita Blush but I had a half glass of milk instead. I know not entirely low carb but it was the best I could do.

Any quick fixes for how I'm feeling?
Any tips for middle of the night feeding snacks?

styledilemma · 23/05/2017 08:52

Woke up with a headache, aching muscles and a sore throat. Sad in sticking with it but have cancelled my (fairly intense) excercise class, today.

I'm not sure if I've picked up a bug or if it's the low carving.

Ether way I'm going to plough on through!
How is everyone this morning?

Veryflummoxed · 23/05/2017 08:55

Thanks for the dinner info BIWI it sounds delicious.

JiminnyCricket · 23/05/2017 08:59

And so, it begins Grin

Yeah, some of you guys are going to feel really crappy over the next few days. Totally and completely normal. Dont give in, stay strong and you'll come out the other side feeling awesome I promise.

Elvis hound decided to sing the basset hound national anthem at 4:30 this morning Angry. I left him half an hour but at 5am I couldnt stand it so I got up and took both hounds out for a walk. Ended up doing 6k before work Shock

Checked on the chorizo crisps this morning and they are definately crispy! They'll be done by the time I get home from work :)

CaptainBraandPants · 23/05/2017 09:05

I fell crap this morning, too.
LC flu.
The trick is to ride it out, but there are things that can help - mainly electrolytes. I have had a magnesium tablet and have been licking salt.
A cup of bovril often does the trick with me, but I've forgot to bring the jar to work. Stuntnun linked to some electrolyte tablets up the way, they will be helpful to.

Today's food will be:
B: creamy coffee x2
L: egg mayonnaise with green salad drizzled with hm oily dressing
D: stuffed cabbage casserole fro the DietDoctor site with veg - probably sautéed asparagus.
S: hm chorizo crisps with phili, also have olives if necessary and will have a chai latte tonight as long as I remember to not clean my teeth when I take it up to bed until after I have drank it! Fail moment there last night. Grin

cathyandclare · 23/05/2017 09:06

Loving the sound of the chorizo crisps.
My face already looks less baggy and puffy this morning :) and I'm feeling positive. Well done so far everyone!
Planning:
Toasted oopsie rolls with butter and marmite for brekkie
Tuna mayo lettuce wraps for lunch
Asparagus and parmesan frittata for supper

bellalurgy · 23/05/2017 09:08

Morning all Grin

Blimey, this thread is moving fast!

Nothing much happening here, going to continue to strip walls and paint. Trying to get as much done as possible before the new sofa arrives.

Breakfast/Brunch will be omelette with mushrooms and spinach
Lunch probably greek yoghurt and maybe a slice or two of ham. Smoked ham is lovely spread with a bit of cream cheese.
Dinner will be lovely pork slow cooked with veg
Creamy coffees x 2 and an almond milk hot choc before bed.

Have a good day everyone x

JimminyCricket:
"Elvis hound decided to sing the basset hound national anthem at 4:30 this morning. I left him half an hour but at 5am I couldn't stand it so I got up and took both hounds out for a walk."

I have a Basset too. She is a rescue. She sings the anthem twice a night if I am unlucky, but always once (her old owner used to give her pie and chips with him at 3am Shock

I shall think of you and your Bassets next time she does it Grin

WorshipTheGourd · 23/05/2017 09:20

1 cocoa at 6am (cold and tired after Basset ministrations).
4 big bites of Dd's honey toast Blush Have decided to post slips, and get right back on track. Had a School refusal this am and, BIWI is right, it is the 'emotional eating' that does it - I didnt even notice the toast go in till I swallowed!
Life goes on and I get back on the horse. It will still be a good day.
2 soft boiled eggs with mayo for WOE b'fast.
Lunch will be on the run from Aldi (cold meat, salad greens, cheese?)
Pork chops with wilted greens and phillymustard sauce again for dinner

Hoping to be more organised when I get some shopping in.

Need to google Oopsie rolls and buy almond milk for my cocoa.

Stomach much flatter this am, already :)

MOIST · 23/05/2017 09:27

I need night shift encouragement. My eating goes all tits up at night and it's really hard to not snack on carbs shit and crisps to keep going in the wee small hours. I ate my snacks and meal but was starving this morning. I don't usually eat before bed I had yogurt, a HB egg and a bite of cheese. Which was going to be my breakfast when I get up later.

feekerry · 23/05/2017 09:33

Naschkatze it will pass, promise. Just keep going. You have the carb flu. Grin
Olives are a great snack tho not sure about middle of the night?!
How about the chorizo crisps?

HemanOrSheRa · 23/05/2017 09:37

I know how you feel MOIST It is so hard to resist carby stuff in the middle of the night. Particularly if your job can be a bit physical as mine can be. It's difficult not to think that you've 'earned' a treat. What hours do you work and what time is the worst point for you?

JiminnyCricket · 23/05/2017 09:44

Menu for today:

B: Coconut creamy coffee with coconut oil
L: Smoked salmon gravadlax salad with half and avocado and olive oil
D: Beef kofte-type kebabs from morrisons with smoked paprika and chilli fried cauliflower with lime.

Cals: 850, Carbs: 26g

Calories are way waaaay too low, so I'm going to add to that some chorizo crisps for later tonight which will bring me up to 1040. Just looked and I only had 811 cals yesterday which is again way too low, but over the last week or so I'm just not into food. I've been on this WOE since feb but seem to go through waves of this zero interest in food. I had one right at the beginning in week 3, and now in week 15 it seems to be back Confused

Naschkatze · 23/05/2017 09:46

Thanks Feekerry. I think I need bland snacks in the middle of the night.
Going to buy some almond milk, maybe make a smoothie type drink with avocado and yoghurt before bed and leave in the fridge?

JiminnyCricket · 23/05/2017 09:50

WorshipTheGourd well you can't post that and not show me a photo! Shock

If you're on a very popular basset community group on FB you'll know my asshat hounds well Blush

Elvis is a rescue too, used to hate cuddles and people but now sings for attention, barks at people who walk passed and dont stop to fuss him and wont go to bed without a firm 30 minutes asleep on someones lap Blush

Eric has mashed potato instead of a brain, regularly trips over his own ears and can walk up stairs, but not back down Hmm

Week 1 - Pre-Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - Off we go!
JiminnyCricket · 23/05/2017 09:58

Naschkatze could you manage ham and soft cheese in the middle of the night? Used to work night shifts, it's hellish!

Maybe take a tub of philli, some ham and something crunchy like chorizo crisps or celery or something to dip in it? You could spread the cheese on the ham and roll it up too, that's always nice.
