So our last week! Here's the Spreadsheet for its penultimate outing

One more week could see another couple of pounds off.

Fingers crossed, and good luck! Flowers

ASD raised morning blood glucose isn't necessarily an issue if your blood glucose is well controlled over the rest of the day. Some people find a protein snack late at night can bring down that early high. If you want to get more information then take your blood glucose immediately before eating then every 30 minutes after eating until your blood glucose is back to normal. I'm not a doctor but I'm happy to give you my opinion on your blood glucose levels. If you have any concerns then I advise you to seek advice from a medical professional.

StuntNun · 04/05/2017 09:06

Leostar I hope you make a speedy recovery. When you're going back to LCHF then I would increase your fat consumption gradually over a week and pay attention to any side effects with your digestion. Be guided by how you feel. When you're poorly you need to take care of your health as a priority and let diet take a backseat for a while. It can be next to impossible to get decent food in hospital so you may just have to make the best choices you can. Keep us updated.

StuntNun · 04/05/2017 09:07

Oh and ASD if you can get your HbA1c checked then that will give a much better indication of your overall blood glucose levels.

JiminnyCricket · 04/05/2017 10:00

stunt you were on a mission this morning Grin thanks for the info.

I've had wonky periods since low carb, last month I was 13 days late and really light and this month I was 3 days early and much heavier than normal Hmm

This is cycle 3 now so fingers crossed it will settle down from here.

ASDismynormality · 04/05/2017 10:13

leo. I hope you feel better soon.

stunt. Thanks so much for your help. 45 mins after a breakfast of chicken my level is 6, so lower than fasting. Am I better off having breakfast as soon as I can to bring my sugar level down? I will have my hba1c measured in a few weeks, end of March it was 42 which is just in pre-diabetes range.

I was taking liverel www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/vitabiotics-liverel-tablets-60075160 but stopped a couple of weeks ago. Maybe if my liver is better supported my blood glucose will be better.

ASDismynormality · 04/05/2017 10:15

JiminnyCricket. My periods haven't been great since starting low carb. My last was after a 24 day cycle and really painful (pain started a couple of days before) was very heavy for one day then finished after 2!

OldBooks · 04/05/2017 10:31

Thanks Stunt. I have had sausage and egg but succumbed to a bit of toast Blush ah well back on the wagon at lunchtime, there is a salad bar.

TMI question but do you get bad constipation on this woe? I am prone to it and since childbirth have a tear which opens if I, um, strain. This morning I bled a lot Sad I know drinking water helps, anything else? Can I add fibre somehow?

dustmotesinthesun · 04/05/2017 13:09

My periods are a bit weird too! Can never quite predict what's going to happen.

I get constipated sometimes, but I tend to do so for a while then don't for ages.

For me, eating a bit more fruit and lots of water helps. Low carb noodles are pretty much all fibre, but you need to drink lots with them. Flax meal is also great - we all seem to like a flax meal bread on here. It definitely gets you going. Don't take any risks if you've had a tear. In fact there's a lot of evidence now that for the sake of your gut microbiome you need lots of fibre. You can definitely still get that while being low carb so don't panic.

All going well here. I'm not too hungry today.

OldBooks · 04/05/2017 13:29

Flax meal - is that something I can get in health food shop and sprinkle in my yoghurt? Is flax meal bread widely available or does anyone have a good recipe?

Bibs2014 · 04/05/2017 13:46

Morning all!

Get well soon Leo.

My menu today:

Breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled
Lunch - chicken, halloumi, spinach, chickpeas, aubergine, cabbage
Dinner - meatballs and veg/salad

ragz134 · 04/05/2017 13:52

Morning all. I had scrambled egg on toasted Lidl protein roll for lunch. Plenty of butter and some cream. Lovely. 10g carbs.
I have realised I am often not getting enough fibre, so will have a big plate of kale with dinner which will probably be beef stroganoff. I need to eat more veg...

Loads of great info on here the last few days, even having read loads over the last few months, I still learned a few things. Thanks guys Smile

FinallyHere · 04/05/2017 14:03

Ah, a favourite question oldbooks.

I used to rely on prunes and dark chocolate and am still finding my way on LCHF. So far, the things that help include leafy green stuff (take a bow, spinach and broccoli), a couple of teaspoons of ground flaxseed (i pick up linwood's in the supermarket and just eat a teaspoonful or two with a glass of water). Loads of water, no, really, loads of water and then a single expresso after a relaxed meal.

When DH is home, he makes flaxseed and almond bread. I find it stalls me but one slice in an emergency.... Shout if you want the recipe, he got a bit obsessed a few weeks make and made loaf after loaf but has, i recollect, settled on his 'foolproof masterpiece' and has to stop himself from sulking when i stick to one slice, and even that occasionally. Hope you find what works for you.

OldBooks · 04/05/2017 14:54

Thanks Finally, sounds like I need some flaxseed as I have been having lots of broccoli etc. The bread sounds lovely, would love the recipe

wombattoo · 04/05/2017 16:37

OldBooks I often have the same trouble. Stunt recommended pysillium husks and they worked a treat, without any cramps or unpleasantness. I got found husks from Holland and Barrett and put a teaspoon in water a couple of times a day.

Hippa Don't get too hung up about calories at this stage.

Guy welcome back. I hope things are improving for you Thanks

Leo Hope you feel better soon Thanks

I'm gearing up for trying boot camp proper. Although I'd rather reduce carbs and try than not bother because I've slipped up occasionally. The rice was in the first couple of days as I need to learn about other options. My husband is terrible for bad food so it's not easy to adjust and he's not quite convinced to join me. The kids need less sugar too. I didn't weigh myself before starting but I dropped three pound the second week and it seems slower this week. Although my calorie intake is too low and I need ideas on snacks to bring this back up.

JiminnyCricket · 04/05/2017 20:02

Just had 50g frozen mixed berries with ff total yogurt and a teaspoon of cocoa powder. 6g carb for the lot but it's prevented a full on binge so I'm counting it as a win.

Dinner was halloumi burgers on a mushroom 'bun' with garlic mayo and salad.

Period is still ridiculously heavy and horrible and I'm really really struggling with cravings for the first time in ages. I can't believe I used to feel like this 24/7, but I remember it clearly. The fruit seems to have helped so I might keep some in the freezer for cravey emergencies. First fruit I've eaten since Feb!

Bibs2014 · 04/05/2017 20:52

I changed my dinner to halloumi, sausage, avocado and rocket. Obsessed with halloumi at the moment!

Bibs2014 · 04/05/2017 21:48

Is the cream cheese and essential part of the fathead pizza?

dustmotesinthesun · 04/05/2017 22:08

What's actually in Lidl protein rolls does anyone know? Is it obvious which ones they are when you go to the store. I've never seen them.

dustmotesinthesun · 04/05/2017 22:14

Ah, it's ok, I've googled. They look delicious.

bellalurgy · 04/05/2017 22:34

Just checking in as I haven't posted for a few days. Day 87/100, still no idea what I weigh but I'm sure I'll find the scales in the next couple of weeks - still dozens of boxes to unpack :)

Coffee & cream for 'breakfast'
Brunch was egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and a couple of cherry tomatoes
Dinner was vegetable omelette, coffee & cream, greek yoghurt with a spoonful of cocoa
Almond milk hot chocolate before bed

Normally have more veg but not a bad day and certainly not hungry

Really settled into this woe and learning lots every time I come on here. Have also just ordered a spiralizer - does anyone else have one? I'm hoping it'll be useful and not another of those bits of kitchen equipment that gets shoved to the back of the cupboard!

Hi everyone! Hope it is OK to join. I've been following this WOE for a few weeks and on the whole I'm loving it! I'm 5'3" and currently 10 stone 1.5lbs, would like to get down to 9.5 stone at least. I lost 3lbs over the first 2 weeks, then went away for 10 days on holiday, and only followed the rules half heartedly (breakfast & lunch fine, followed by chips & wine most evenings Blush ) so it all went back on unsurprisingly. I lost the 3lbs again in a week when I came back but the last 2 weeks I've stayed the same weight. I've started using an app called MyKeto to track my intake and it seems that although I stick to my calorie limits OK, I was overeating protein, often by 30g or so a day. So I might have scrambled eggs with mushrooms & cheese, for breakfast, halloumi with salad for lunch, and courgetti with bacon, cream, parmesan & broccoli for evening meal, maybe with a small piece of cheese as a snack. Does this seem like too much protein? The app gives me a daily limit of 75g protein. Thank you!
