Evening all!

Just getting this out there, so that everyone knows where to go/what to do in the morning.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I'd like to say a massive thank you and Flowers to Sayrra and Wombattoo who set this up and maintain it for us all.

PLEASE don't touch anything other than the cell where you input your weight.

If your name isn't on the list, just add it to the bottom, and it will be magically re-alphabetised to include you.

It's called the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness because of all the information and resources that are available to us. Look at the tabs at the bottom - the rules are there, along with the veg counter, and all manner of resources for you to read up more about low carbing.

If you can't access it, or can't input your weight, just add your weight to the chat thread, and someone will do it for you. (I believe it's difficult to do it from your phone).

But more than anything else, a massive good luck to you all!

All I can say to you is follow the rules!

It does work, but only if you follow them.

Good luck everyone.

ClopySow, interesting to read you are having difficulty sleeping. I am also suffering from insomnia at the moment, is this normal when eating low carb?

BIWI · 10/02/2017 22:45

No - generally you should sleep better.

However, low carbing does also seem to give people a lot more energy, so it's possible that you could find yourself feeling less sleepy/needing less sleep!

Youcan that looks fine to me but BIWI knows better than me.
Finally Well done. It is great when you manage to get 'in the zone'.

BIWI · 11/02/2017 08:19

@NapoleonsNose - it looks like you're not really eating very much there - and there's not much veg going on in your day. Please don't use your carbs up on bread - you should be using them for eating more veg and salad.

If you're hungry it's probably a sign that you need to either eat or drink more. Given that you said you've made your water target, then you haven't eaten enough!

Yesterday
Lunch - olives and mini chorizo
Dinner - pork burger, celeriac chips, fried onions and kale.
Snack - handful of pistachios (shhhh), few cubes of feta.
Not enough water as I was out in the community again with limited toilet access!
Today - hopefully a late breakfast/brunch of egg based something. Dinner is meant to be chicken curry which I will hopefully get in the slow cooker this morning.

Lucy7400 · 11/02/2017 09:16

I went out for dinner last night. I had sardines followed by Brill and shrimps with spinach cooked in butter. I left the new potatoes.

Today I am planning scrambeled egg for B, asparagus fritata for L and chicken cooked in peppers, onion and.olives for dinner with a salad. No wine tonight will be hard. I always have wine on saturdays. Confused

playmobilpeacock · 11/02/2017 09:32

Good morning all. I hope everyone is getting over the worst of carb flu and starting to feel better.

Today I'm going out with my family for a children's activity day. This will be the first time I've been away from the house for a long time.

I'm packing up a picnic of olives, cucumber, cream cheese, salami and sour cream dip. I'll take a flask of herbal tea too.

It's quite snowy here so the thought of standing outside all day isn't feeling me with joy but hopefully this will keep me going.

DH and I are also spending the evening with some friends so I've prepared some low carb snacks to take and I've already said I'm not drinking. They'll probably think I'm pregnant Grin

Hesdeadjim · 11/02/2017 09:37

Moooooooorning :)

Thanks BIWI, I'm about to go food shopping and I've added olives and more cheese to my list Grin (the cheese felt so weird to be writing down!)

My dad makes sausages for fun so I've put in an order for high fat 0 carb ones, he's making them tomorrow for me and delivering them tomorrow night although gave me a very strange look when I told him the fat content didn't matter!

Re: sleep, I had possibly the strangest nights sleep ever last night. I'm a good sleeper anyway and can sleep for 9 hours and still feel tired, but last night I went to bed early, slept 8 hours as usual but woke up totally full of beans which NEVER happens. I also slept really really deeply as well and even DP coming to bed didn't wake me!

Today we have: protein shake for breakfast ( dodges big stick ) before I go shopping Blush

Lunch: bacon and egg cups with a couple of cherry tomatoes

Dinner: flat iron steak cooked in butter with some mushrooms, then adding double cream and a bit of mustard to make a mushroom cream sauce. Having that with broccoli and spinach.

Macros on the photo attached Smile

Looking good!

Youcandoit that is rather a lot of dairy if you're having it in three meals a day plus snacks. If it doesn't stall you then it's fine but some people wouldn't be able to lose with that much dairy because it's insulinogenic. It probably depends how insulin resistant you are.

Clopy and Asd most people sleep better on low carb (although some have vivid dreams). If you're really struggling to sleep then keeping your carbs for the evening, e.g. lots of veggies with dinner, can help.

Popsicle the Lidl protein rolls are bread rolls which have a high seed content but they're still 9g carbs each. I sometimes have half of one but they're better kept for maintenance rather than weight loss.

Perfect macros Hesdeadjim Grin

BIWI · 11/02/2017 10:14

@Lucy7400 - your meal sounds lovely! And well done for resisting the new potatoes. Although, for future reference, new potatoes are the lowest form of carbs, so if you end up in a situation where you're offered those, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Re the wine - I totally get you. It's one of the hardest things for me! But just try and remember that there's a bit of a double whammy with wine.

First, your body will burn alcohol in preference to any other source of fuel. So as long as you're drinking it, you're not burning any fat.

And second, wine has carbs in it as well. One glass is OK - one bottle not so much Grin

If you do feel that you can't get through Saturday without a drink, why not try vodka and soda, or golden rum and soda - lots of ice and a big chunk of fresh lime. It's still the alcohol, but without carbs or artificial sweeteners

Thanks BIWI. The protein roll is only a Friday treat. We cook bacon butties at work so I allow myself a bready treat once a week so I don't feel I'm missing out. I do think I needs to up my veg though.

StuntNun · 11/02/2017 10:31

I was shocked to find out that there's 600 calories and 20g carbs in a bottle of wine. Realistically anything more than a glass is undoing a lot of your work in going low carb.

BursarsFrogs · 11/02/2017 10:32

Morning folks.

I've woken up with a headache, but it's probably tension rather than carb flu. Still, painkillers don't seem to be touching it so far. I've written a meal plan for the week ahead and will do shopping later today. I just hope I'll be able to find all the veggies and other ingredients on my list - I might have been looking at recipe sites and the recipe thread for inspiration.

Foods today:

B: I had two fried eggs and black coffee.
L: We're going out for lunch. I'm planning on having an avocado and halloumi salad. Will once again replace wine with mineral water (sigh...)
D: Homemade coleslaw with salmon with a creamy sauce.

MyShinyThing · 11/02/2017 10:35

Morning all. I woke up feeling fab this morning which is such a difference to yesterday!

I have no food plan today as we're out all day & this evening but I am determined to stick with it. I feel so good & am 2lbs down so would be stupid to fall off the wagon now!

We are going to the pub tonight with friends but I'll be sticking with vodka & soda.

Hope everyone has a good day.

CaptainBraandPants · 11/02/2017 10:53

Just catching up with the thread as I've not posted since Monday.
I struggled Monday/Tuesday, because I was pre-AF I think, and whilst pleased I didn't derail, I was more BC lite, rather than BC. It's week 6 for me and, rather ironically as it's the start of official BC, I found it the hardest week so far. But, pleased I pushed through and the last few days have been easier again.
Planned to have chicken carbonara with courgetti last night, but the pre packaged courgetti I had bought (the only form of courgette I could get) had gone off and smelled dreadful Sad. So, we had the carbonara without any veg, which was very rich and perhaps not the best meal, but not that much choice!
Going to meal plan for the coming week later. Fancy pork belly, curry, salmon this week. I like to peruse a few different LC recipe sites, including the great BC one, for ideas. I then struggle to decide what i want as so much sounds yummy Grin
Have a good weekend everyone.

dementedma · 11/02/2017 10:57

Bacon and eggs for breakfast. How to get through the the rest of a cold wet weekend without wine and snacking is going to be a challenge...

mistywillow17 · 11/02/2017 11:08

I definitely DIDN'T feel fab when I woke up this morning, but that has more to do with the 18 month old being up between 11 and 2am than anything else! For the same reason, I can't give any feedback on whether the quality of my sleep has improved...
I seem to have escaped any carb fluey symptoms so far- I'm putting that down to keeping on top of my fluid intake. The scales are looking promising - had a sneaky weigh in this morning and 4.5 pounds down already!!
Ready to do some meal planning now before going out shopping - the fridge is fairly bare at the moment, but luckily the urge to snack seems to have disappeared. Just re-reading the thread for meal inspiration.
Well done everyone - not long until we've done the first week. Stay strong this weekend !

mrwalkensir · 11/02/2017 11:29

Also had pretty much zero sleep Wednesday and Thursday night. Carb flu today, so going to cheer myself up by doing the celeriac gratin thingy recipe Smile

Hesdeadjim · 11/02/2017 11:41

OH GOD.

I was not prepared to be a fat woman at the supermarket today Sad

I was at the till and the woman behind me said to her partner 'God we were talking about how people get to that size, that's how!' and cast her eyes over my food...

Some green veggies but yes, 5 packs of butter, cheeses, steak, Proper streaky bacon etc etc...

CaptainBraandPants · 11/02/2017 11:46

Hesdeadjim ShockHow rude. Ignore the twats. Flowers
You can lose weight, however, she'll always be a bitch.

SayrraT · 11/02/2017 11:47

hesdeadjim she's wrong! And a bitch!

ifink · 11/02/2017 11:50

people can be such judgemental wankers Hesdeadjim ...sorry you had that in the supermarket. So many people don't get low carb I'm finding - my parents thought it was hilarious when I politely declined bread at their house the other day and kept going on and on about it, saying 'its got nothing do with carbs, you just have to eat in moderation', ....blah blah...this from people who have yo yo dieted their entire adult lives.... Hang in there!

BursarsFrogs · 11/02/2017 11:53

What an ignorant bitch! Try to ignore! Flowers

Lexa47 · 11/02/2017 12:11

mrwalkensir I made it in the week for the first time and it was really yum, almost couldn't tell it wasn't potato!

Hesdeadjim That is very rude, ignore. This woe does work. Flowers
