Week 1 Early Spring Low Carb Bootcamp - at last!

BIWI · 05/02/2017 20:25

Evening all!

Just getting this out there, so that everyone knows where to go/what to do in the morning.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I'd like to say a massive thank you and Flowers to Sayrra and Wombattoo who set this up and maintain it for us all.

PLEASE don't touch anything other than the cell where you input your weight.

If your name isn't on the list, just add it to the bottom, and it will be magically re-alphabetised to include you.

It's called the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness because of all the information and resources that are available to us. Look at the tabs at the bottom - the rules are there, along with the veg counter, and all manner of resources for you to read up more about low carbing.

If you can't access it, or can't input your weight, just add your weight to the chat thread, and someone will do it for you. (I believe it's difficult to do it from your phone).

But more than anything else, a massive good luck to you all!

All I can say to you is follow the rules!

It does work, but only if you follow them.

Good luck everyone.

What happens after initial 2 weeks of bootcamp [do not insert cake emoticon here]............

Is it increase in carbs?

StuntNun · 08/02/2017 16:35

GlitterKitten slow roasting is for pork belly joints. If it's slices then you can do them in the oven or I like to fry them in lard. If they have the rind on then they can be very chewy, I try and get the rindless ones.

BursarsFrogs · 08/02/2017 16:59

I've been feeling generally a bit sorry for myself today, and was really craving crisps, or something else salty to snack on. So for the first time in my life I've had a big mug of chicken bouillon. Why has no one told me of its lovely salty goodness before?! Grin It's never occured to me to use it except in a soup before.

Patapouf · 08/02/2017 17:29

For exploded babybels the trick is to keep zapping in the microwave until it looks exploded. Probably needed another 30secs to 1min if it only got to the melts stage but it will depend on your microwave.

I've just spent half an hour prepping so,e breakfast/snacks for the rest of the week, I fried chorizo in butter and then fried halloumi in the butter/fat that was still in the pan. Then did mushrooms and leeks to go in egg muffins so I didn't lose the flavoursome fat from the pan. Did a few boiled eggs too.

B: babybel, peperami and mangetout
L: the rest of the lamb meatballs and baby courgettes
D: possibly something with mince but I've just eaten a boiled egg, halloumi and chorizo so I don't know if I'll be hungry enough later
3L of water and 500ml to go.

Day 3 here and I feel shite. Headache all day and feel bleurgh. I have sort of stuck to it. I had 1 piece of chocolate today and 2 yesterday. But all good apart from that. Today I had bacon, eggs and mushroom cooked in butter at 10. That would normally fill me up but I was starving an hour later Shock so has a few spoonfuls of yogurt. Lunch was chicken and salad and dinner is planned to be duck an brocolli. Dd will have the noodles. Is anyone else drinking loads? I am so dehydrated, I cant keep up with my water needs. I am out tomorrow, I could avoid drinking but will find that hard. I am thinking of allowing myself a few glasses of wine.Halo I know, I know.

Musicianofbremen · 08/02/2017 17:44

Also feeling a bit blue. I think I need to hide my scales for the rest of the week. Have put a lb on argh!

had some M&S pork crackling earlier in lieu of crisps so thanks to whoever recommended that.

Made a lamb and aubergine curry for tea. Yum.

BIWI · 08/02/2017 18:04

Musician - your weight will fluctuate naturally on a day-to-day basis. If you can't handle this, psychologically, then it's best to weigh weekly.

Lucy7400 - if you can't drink enough water, this indicates you need more salt. Please don't hit the wine! If you do, you'll undo all the good you've done so far. If you have to have alcohol - vodka and soda is the best low carb option. (But remember, all the while you're drinking alcohol, you've stopped your body from burning fat)

snowdonstreet - you have a choice after the first two weeks. You can move on to Bootcamp Light, which is a little more relaxed, in that you can eat some berries, nuts and seeds (in moderation) and also introduce alcohol (occasionally!). You can stay on Bootcamp if it suits you, for the remaining 8 weeks, or you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Hello!!!
Added my name and weight. I dont eat dairy so will be eating coconut yog, milk and coconut cheese. Without these my diet would be very very restrictive.

SayrraT · 08/02/2017 18:15

Just wondering if there is any issue with eating pork scratchings most days? They have no preservatives or anything, just pork rind and salt.

I eat them on my way home between the Stables and house. It stops me wanting to eat when I get in.

wombattoo · 08/02/2017 18:25

Lucy I just want to point out that alcohol tolerance is much lower when eating this way. Trust me - I speak from bitter experience Grin
Sayrra I eat scratchings most days and it doesn't hinder my weight loss. I love the M & S ones but at £2 per pack, it makes for an expensive treat.

NapoleonsNose · 08/02/2017 18:26

Had a good day today I think. Stuck to my plan of scrambled eggs and butter for breakfast, smoked salmon, salad, oil and coleslaw for lunch and have just had stir fry with prawns, veg and zero noodles. Had some cheddar and salami for a snack. I do log everything on mfp just to keep track but I struggle to get over 1000 calories. Wondering if I should have some yogurt or something later?

Glitterkitten24 · 08/02/2017 18:36

Thank you imiss and stunt I had the pork belly fried with salt and pepper in olive oil in the end.
Served it with home made coleslaw, and stir fried veg with a splash of soy, delicious!

Went to aldi today and their 'veg of the week' includes mange tout and asparagus for just 59p so have stocked right up on those!

Actually drank more than my 3.5l today, am really enjoying the water (not so much the trips to the loo every 20 minutes!)

SayrraT · 08/02/2017 18:37

Thanks wombat I was sure they should be ok, I just wanted to check!

I buy them on Amazon, the posh pork scratchings, works out about 80p per bag. Think it was stunt who recommend them.

Veryflummoxed · 08/02/2017 18:47

Love reading everyone's meals and comments.

B chicken wings with dressed leaves and baby tomatoes

L same again but without the tomatoes

Dinner rack of lamb with celeriac and leek mash (thanks for that BIWI) and cauliflower. Still hungry after eating photographed portion so had a small amount more.

On my last half litre of water so doing well there.

wombattoo · 08/02/2017 18:54

Very I can't tell you how much I look forward to you posting pics of your meals everyday Blush

Tartle · 08/02/2017 19:07

Looks yum doesn't it imissmyoldusername. Yeah it's in south London. I am quite excited.

Small fail this afternoon as I had a strawberry dunked in cream. It could have been worse though. Bloody pavlova!

I am feeling pretty jittery today does anybody else get that?

I have found Epsom salt baths quite good for achy legs. You absorb magnesium through the skin I think.

dementedma · 08/02/2017 19:11

Struggking with getting enough water when at work. Can't keep going out of meetings to pee, so still feeling ratty and headachy. Managed to resist bacon rolls, croissants and sandwiches all provided during training day today. Am fecking starving. Scales say I have lost 3lbs though!

feekerry · 08/02/2017 19:16

keeponkeepinon you could give it a go. You could try almond milk?

lemonsandlimes123 · 08/02/2017 19:19

Hello all,

Had the horrid headache here today and the achy legs so will up the water and get an early night.

smoked salmon and scrambled eggs
fried halloumi with caper salsa
smoked haddock w/creme fraiche and chive butter sauce and spinach,

yummy

So motivating to see how supportive everyone is.

Aderyn2016 · 08/02/2017 19:25

Have been rubbish at logging food but here is todays
B - 3 frankfurters. Have decided I don't like frankfurters so won't be eating them again!
L - home made coleslaw, 2 thinck slices of ham, 3 pickled onions. 2 squares of 90% choc.
D - ovenbaked trout with butter, steamed cauli, green beens and sprouts also woth butter and big dollop of mayo.
Had 3 small coffees with a little cream and a few cups of mint tea.

Hope this is okay. Weighed this morning and have put on a pound, so a bit fed up.

ClopySow · 08/02/2017 19:35

Musicianofbremen · 08/02/2017 19:37

Thanks BIWI. I will do.

Lunch - salad with olives, avocado and salami with oily dressing

Dinner - pork chops and cauliflower mash

Snack - egg muffin, pork crackling

Lexa47 · 08/02/2017 19:57

Hi everyone, well I'm a complete newbie to posting on forums but think it is time now to be accountable! I lost 3 stone 6 years ago and managed to keep most of it off by dipping in and out of low carb eating, now 2 stone have crept back on and I need to do something more hard core to focus, I think Bootcamp will be it. So...
B: coffee with cream
L: homemade lamb and aubergine bake that was in the freezer
D: baked cod and celeriac dauphinoise

I don't usually have breakfast but I liked the sound of the COYO so DH picked me up some whilst shopping so I will try that in the morning, he's LC as well atm and sharing the cooking. We did the Tom Kerridge soy glazed cod last week , without the honey and it was still really nice, still not for Bootcamp though I think.

BIWI · 08/02/2017 19:58

CHOCOLATE IS NOT ALLOWED DURING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF BOOTCAMP

As you were ...
