Morning all. Welcome to the first day of summer Hmm

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once again, for you to declare all.

Thankfully a bit of a quieter week for me, once today is over, so I can concentrate a bit more on food and do a bit of cooking and meal planning!

Hope all is going well, and that the scales have been kind to you this morning.

Reader I've got a weight lifting induction at the gym tonight! Shock I'm sure it'll help.
Mother Moderation? Although I understand that everyone's carb tolerance is different, so what's ok for one person may well be too much for another. I guess we need to hope we are of the more tolerant persuasion.

flyright · 23/06/2016 13:35

Not really relevant to anything but I had an unexpected meeting and on the go food requirement and tried beef jerky. How did I not know how nice it is? Have always been a bit scared but it's lovely.

princessconsuelabannahammock · 23/06/2016 13:41

Mothership - try having bread or sushi or doing some baking - just not all three in the same day. Once you are at target you can introduce carbs just not at the level that you ate before as you wont be needing to lose weight just maintain. I see it as loosely following low carb principals with a few carbs thrown in. So i would pick a salad over a baguette and cheese over cheesecake. I woudnt say no to sushi or a juicy burger in a bun but i wouldnt have the chips or a full sugar coke as well.

Bread is my weakness and i cant stop at one slice, it also makes my ibs bad so between bootcamps i just dont buy it. However if i was in a nice restaurant and there was a slice of lovely homemade bread i might have a slice and suffer for it then next day.

43andcounting · 23/06/2016 13:45

De-lurking to seek your wisdom please.
I am on Day 3 so still reading through all the previous threads but unexpectedly need to pick something to eat tonight from this menu. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.

menu scroll to 2nd page for food

I am thinking the seafood chowder (avoid the potatoes & Bread), or mussels (don't eat read) or ceaser salad (eat around the croutons).

can anyone steer me in the right direction please?

MothershipG · 23/06/2016 13:49

Thanks Mook & princess that's the plan, smaller and less frequent carbs, just hope it works!

fly Jerky is lovely, I even make my own sometimes, but you have to watch the sugar content and it's low fat, so high protein but low fat and sometimes added sugar.

43andcounting - I'd be having a dish of olives to start I think followed by steak and salad. But the chicken caesar does look like a decent option. I'd be worried about flour in the Chowder I think.
Maybe the burger but ask for it without the bun?

43andcounting · 23/06/2016 14:19

Thanks very much whistle. Good suggestions.
I'm grateful as I wouldn't even have considered flour in the chowder.

Whistle73 · 23/06/2016 15:46

I thought I was being clever last week ordering chicken in a cream and stilton sauce, but when it came it had peas in it and had obviously been thickened with cornflour.

I suppose you could ask, but I always feel like a real pain quizzing waiters on the food! I'm so not fussy normally it goes against the grain.

princessconsuelabannahammock · 23/06/2016 15:53

Whistles - i tend to go for a ceasar salad with no croutons - i ask for them not to be put on and then i am not tempted to just eat one and another one and another one. I am MUCH better at asking for meals to be changed a bit now when out in restaurants.Back in the day i waitressed and its very common and no one minds - really.

Mothership - also if you do get in muddle with too many carbs at least you have the tools to correct it and can put a stop to weight gain before it gets too much of a big job. I seem to be taking my time to get to goal - 4st to go so i will probably STILL be here ploughing on.

flyright · 23/06/2016 16:30

thanks Mothership - my jerky was M&S Peppered - suspect it did have some sugar

not too worried about the low fat aspect - if I go too heavily on the fat it just doesn't seem to work for me - counter to the rules I know

i'll have a look at other brands though as I think it could be a useful standby - I don't eat salad so I'm sometimes looking for something I can buy out and about

bettyblueeyes83 · 23/06/2016 16:47

Argh, the last two days I've fallen into some treacherous carb holes!

Yesterday was great all day (took own food to catered event I knew would only be sandwiches) until evening when I accidentally had four glasses of prosecco (and a soda water/white wine spritzer), mostly due to not wanting to say no, which was silly but I didn't want to make a fuss. Ate out at a BBQ place which I thought was going to be brilliant (went for ribs & wings, plus greens and salad) but the ribs were covered in some sweet-tasting sauce.

Plus, today, again catered lunch but I'm away for the day at high-level event and would have looked really weird to bring low-carb lunchbox - was praying for LC options but it was all sandwiches. No cafes anywhere around and food was kindly laid on by our hosts so felt I had no option. So I had two triangles (i.e. 1/2 a big sandwich) and half a wrap. Can't believe I ate bread. But the good news is that none of this has triggered cravings or hunger and I'm now sipping an iced Americano with cream and looking forward to being back in charge of diet tonight!

ReggaeShark · 23/06/2016 17:49

B: 2 hb eggs and butter. Seen it mentioned on here but didn't like it.
L: Parma ham, mozzarella, radishes, olive oil
D: Have chicken marinating for paleo leap chicken biryani as suggested upthread. Seems a bit low in fat so might add cream at the end. Interested to see what it's like but I've premade the spiced cauli rice and it's lovely.
S: 2 mini babybel

StuntNun · 23/06/2016 18:24

Does anyone have any nice lamb shank recipes, slow cooker or otherwise? I bagged two at the butchers but I'm not sure what to do with them.

SestraClone · 23/06/2016 18:38

(Wan here, had a namechange)

Stunt, I had lamb shank in the SC yesterday, I just put it in with leeks, lamb stock and a tiny bit of carrot, then topped with mint sauce & rosemary sprigs. Came out delicious!

Mookbark · 23/06/2016 19:12

Reggae I used lots of coconut oil to cook both the chicken and the cauli rice, so I think it was reasonable fat wise. I'm getting nervous now in case you don't like it after my recommendation. Grin
Just had tuna burgers (tuna, shallots, olives and egg) with half a grilled avocado and a mixed salad. Had LOADS of lovely mayo as the burgers were slightly dry. 'Twas very nice.
I'm examining tomorrow, so will have to be careful about my water consumption as I can't nip out half way through! Also, lunch is laid on and from previous years, I suspect it'll be limp sandwiches, crisps and fruit. I might try and eat breakfast and see if I can go through, maybe with a few sandwich filings, until it's over. I really don't want to eat bread.
Then it's DS2's birthday at the weekend and there will be cake, obviously, and he was dominos for dinner. Sad As DH won't eat it either, I may have to just get it for the hits and book is something different. I don't think DS will care as long as he gets plenty of pizza!

Mookbark · 23/06/2016 19:14

Erm, hope you all can understand the gist of that. Fat fingers and a phone don't go.

NotdeadyetBOING · 23/06/2016 19:18

Haven't had a chance to catch up with thread yet, but just had to dive in to say what a YUMMY supper I just had.

Chicken thighs with gorgeous crispy skin - and a mushroom, garlic, thyme cream sauce. Served with buttered spinach and that fake konjac rice stuff (actually brilliant, I think).

Happy days.

SestraClone · 23/06/2016 19:21

Sounds tasty!

wombattoo · 23/06/2016 19:36

Hello all.
Mothership I have eaten this way for a long time. I try to stick to bc rules but I always have alcohol on a weekend I do sometimes have something carby as a treat but I try not to do it too often. If it's just one piece of bread or KFC I can usually get away with it without a gain. I have to be careful not to do it too often, and definitely stay away from biscuits and cakes because they set off cravings for me. The good thing is, we have the tools to get back on track.
There is always an ongoing chat thread but it does get quiet.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 23/06/2016 19:52

Just had a lovely dinner - homemade fish curry- Yum! Had mine with cauliflower rice.

princessconsuelabannahammock · 23/06/2016 19:58

I have had the day from hell and i have just had a big glass of prosecco, now the crisps are calling me... can someone talk me down from carby twattiness. I am off on holiday in 3 days and the fuckits i am on holiday are calling me.

SestraClone · 23/06/2016 20:22

don't do it princess! can you paint your nails or do something that will stop you reaching for them?

reader77 · 23/06/2016 20:38

Don't do it! You deserve to be healthy!

Wintersea · 23/06/2016 20:38

Hello all
Another one here who has collapsed into emotional carb eating - and I felt I really had it under control for a while back there. A few X problems at home and I fell too easily into old ways - wine, bread and easy carbs....Feels hard now to think about getting back iinto low carbing though know it makes me feel better/a bit less emotional (Think I need a hug rather than a big stick wimp that I am) Will try to pull myself together Flowers for others who have struggled a bit too (and of course for you amazing lot who have kept on...)
Tomorrow is another day...
