Morning all. Welcome to the first day of summer Hmm

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once again, for you to declare all.

Thankfully a bit of a quieter week for me, once today is over, so I can concentrate a bit more on food and do a bit of cooking and meal planning!

Hope all is going well, and that the scales have been kind to you this morning.

Just looked it up - spinach, yoghurt, dark chocolate, bananas, fish....

DoingItForMyselfAtLast · 26/06/2016 09:24

Going to have a go at making home made mayonnaise this morning in advance of our planned BBQ if it doesn't ruddy piss it down in the meantime Confused I've never ever 'liked' mayo (in truth, I've never really tried it) but since starting to eat this way I have been having a bit on the side of a burger etc. For the extra fat. I have a funny feeling I might really like it! Thinking of upping it a level to aioli, but then I might end up sitting there with a spoon and the bowl Blush #garlicobsessive

Well to add to stress-related dark chocolate and the Brexit-related wine this week, I've gone and eaten cake. A friend invited me for dinner and did 'low-carb' which was so sweet of her but not entirely accurate as she's not following it herself. So the main was delicious: salmon done in herbs, white wine and elderflower cordial (sugary carbs here but not too many as it was just a poaching liquor and not a sauce) with courgette salad and tomato mozzarella salad, all with plenty of olive oil. But she'd also baked a 'low-carb' cake made with ground almonds, eggs, lemon, and fresh cherries and lots of whipped cream on top - would have been OK it just this, but it also had polenta in and the cream was whipped with elderflower cordial and she drizzled cherry compote on top. There's no way I could have refused to eat it when she tried so hard so I had a small slice (only my second piece of cake this year, having given up sugar) and enjoyed it. But I've learnt this week that stress/emotions and social politeness are still tricky for this me on this WOE. Although I am finding it much easier to get straight back on it and not struggling with cravings etc.

So, today I've done Zumba and about to do Yoga. Food is/will be:

B: FF Greek yog with double cream and vanilla powder, macadamias
L: ham cheese omelette and greek salad
D: coconut chicken curry with cauli rice and using up some other veg

Afternoon, just checking in as I'm conscious I haven't had time to post much in the last few days. Last night's Indian takeaway was fairly low carb but still a bit too high (lamb tikka and saag paneer - delicious) so I'm balancing it out with a spot of intermittent fasting and just had creamy coffee at breakfast and lunch time. I'm not particularly hungry anyway which is such a huge benefit of this WOE. I've done a 24 hour fast (no breakfast and lunch) and 2 16:8 fasts (no breakfast) this week and I think it's kickstarted things again. I've just read The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung and found it really helpful to broaden my understanding of how to address insulin resistance as well as high insulin levels.

I'm back from my holiday (where I was not good AT ALL) and back on the low carb wagon. Hopefully my one bad week won't have spoiled all my progress (but currently too scared to weigh).

My food for today has been LC waffles for brunch, and I'll have a bunless burger later on. Snacking on guacamole.

Just catching up on the thread now :).

Week 6 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp - half way through!
eleven59 · 26/06/2016 15:44

If anyone, like me, is wanting the occasional drink, try this, its very summery and refreshing and low(ish) carb - please correct me if I'm wrong:

Equal amounts of prosecco or sekt, squeeze of lime and mint leaves over ice.

eleven59 · 26/06/2016 16:10

Oops no that's not right!

Equal amounts of prosecco/sekt and soda water, squeeze of lime and mint leaves over ice.

bettyblueeyes83 · 26/06/2016 17:04

Sounds good eleven!

WilfSell · 26/06/2016 18:17

Wait. You can mix fizzy wine with fizzy water and it isn't all WEIRD?

That could save me.

I've been mulling over the alcohol question as I have been dry for two weeks now [weep]. I'm going to try to keep going for a whole month but am worried about the alcohol tipping me back into carb cravings.

So I'm thinking either really dry sparkling wine or G&T with sweeteners. Don't really like vodka.

Stretching the wine out would be good.

Also does anyone know a really good tonic that I can mix that won't raise my sugar cravings?

Flisspaps · 26/06/2016 19:20

Not feeling great today - went out for lunch which was a chicken leg, 2 sausages (unlikely to be LC) and some carrots/cauliflower all drowned in gravy. I did leave the spuds, Yorkshire puddings and peas.

Have been doing BC lite but might do a couple of weeks of proper BC to give myself a bit of a shove for the home straight.

DH and me have been a bit all over the place schedule wise which certainly hasn't helped, if there's only me and the DC I don't bother with a proper meal for me but we're both home all week this week :)

WilfSell · 26/06/2016 19:40

I'm on a roll now to hunt down the best LC alcohol.

This article in the Telegraph lists 'extra brut' sparkling/Champagne. www.telegraph.co.uk/food-and-drink/wine/skinny-champagne-a-guide-to-sugar-free-fizz/

I guess if I'm going to allow a couple of glasses a week, then I can go a bit mad?

Best low carb tonic next...

wombattoo · 26/06/2016 20:01

Wilf What about soda water? Takes a bit of getting used to but no carbs at all

nekobus · 26/06/2016 20:11

Wilf, vodka and soda with a big squeeze of lime and lots of ice. Takes a bit of getting used to! I also do half and half diet tonic (has to be Schweppes!) and soda with gin, so you get the tonic flavour but not as sweet.

MothershipG · 26/06/2016 20:18

Sympathies to those missing alcohol I am really being hit big time by sugar cravings. I thought they were supposed to have gone by now.

I've been so good, I had one piece of cake for my daughter's birthday a week ago but this weekend it's been killing me. I was making rice crispy cakes for the DCs and just wanted to stick my face in it. Sad

My weight has been fluctuating around the 166 mark for 3 weeks and I'm really, really fed up.

BIWI · 26/06/2016 20:30

If you like golden/dark rum, try mixing it with sparkling water, lots of ice and fresh lime.

OP posts:
WilfSell · 26/06/2016 21:05

I've been drinking LITRES of sparkling water already to head off the alcohol cravings. I can't mix gin with it surely?! Soda is just basically sparkling water right?

I deffo need gin. Hmmm, rum, haven't drunk the stuff since I was a teenager.

I've found a stevia/erythritol tonic (and other soft drinks) called Zevia but it's mostly available in the US. Some stockists in UK and you seem to be able to buy their other things on Amazon, but not the tonic. Has anyone tried this stuff?

Also Fever Tree light looks plausible (3.8g carbs per 100ml) and Tesco Finest light tonic (4g carbs per 100ml)

I'm going to try and a cheapish extra brut sparkling and start with that. It's our wedding anniversary this week, so although I'm officially OFF the alcohol, I might risk a glass of bubbles then.

Veryflummoxed · 26/06/2016 21:44

Struggling with cravings. Of all things it's for a cup of hot milk. Tried to satisfy it with yogurt and cheese, ate way to much and it didn't work.

Breakfast left over night before dinner.

S coffee with cream

Lunch. Pork chops done in yogurt and Parmesan )we love this Wanheda asparagus, mushrooms and spinach.

Supper. Cheese cucumber ff yogurt.

My portion sizes are right up again. I'm feeling very dissatisfied with my self.

NotdeadyetBOING · 26/06/2016 22:17

I have pigged out big time today. Will gloss over details.

Thinking about checking out the uber-camp ideas. Seem to remember there are headings for days - but only menu ideas for 2 days. Wondering if that is me being dense about the spreadsheet or just the way it is - and no one ever got round to shoving in a third day?

Veryflummoxed · 26/06/2016 22:44

Just had a diet lilt. I thing all that cheese made me thirsty.

reader77 · 27/06/2016 06:49

I have lost half a pound this week. Quite chuffed as scales had been stuck for a fortnight. Smile

stilllovingmysleep · 27/06/2016 07:08

Hi all, just added my weight loss (did well this week!) to the spreadsheet. Sorry for disappearance, I will try to do better this week, it;s because of the referendum situation I was preoccupied...

BIWI · 27/06/2016 07:09

There are definitely menus for 3 days of Ubercamp! I wrote them!

There are three days of meals for meat + egg eaters, 3 days of meals for three meat but no egg eaters, and 3 days of meals for fish, no meat, but egg eaters.
