Week 3 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp - the choice is yours!

Morning all. Sorry for the later than usual thread, but I'm away at the moment/1

Anyway, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

As we've now completed the first two, more strict, weeks of Bootcamp you have a choice. You can move on to Bootcamp Light, (rules are on the spreadsheet tabs), which essentially means you can add in a few nuts/seeds, and some fruit (berries, and strictly in moderation), and you can have alcohol occasionally.

However, if you haven't really done Bootcamp strictly enough, or you cheated, or just because you think it's going well, you can stay on Bootcamp. (If you do, though, please make sure your carbs are mainly coming from vegetables and salad, to make sure that you're getting a good balance of nutrition)

Alternatively, you can do Bootcamp during the week but Bootcamp Light at the weekend. The choice is yours.

However, there is one thing I have to warn you about. Weeks 3 and 4 are notorious for little or no weight loss. If this happens to you, please don't panic! Just keep on keeping on and things will start to move again.

After initial big losses in the first couple of weeks, you can't feasibly expect to see that continue, and you should that weight loss settles down at around 1-3lbs a week, depending on how much you have to lose.

Good luck all! Flowers

So annoyed that I didn't take a pic of tonight's 'carbonara', it was so pretty! Basically a pile of courgetti with loads of bacon and garlic, Parmesan and oil/butter - not exactly carbonara as neither of us realised until halfway through that he'd forgotten the cream, egg and the mushrooms Grin but delicious all the same.

So today has been:

Coffee with cream and coconut oil, small packet posh pork scratchings
Salad with spinach, avocado, bacon and poached egg
Courgetti with bacon as above!
Just had two squares of green & blacks 70% choc and a cup of tea

Plus water, of course!

saffynool · 05/06/2016 22:14

Oh and I did have a couple of spoonfuls of Fage yoghurt with blueberries and cinnamon, forgot that. So have actually eaten quite a lot today, maybe because I've been pottering round the house all day.

nekobus · 05/06/2016 22:16

Thanks for all the recipies, wan, they all look delicious as do your meals, bursar. I love seeing all the photos!

Good day today as was out in the sun at a 3yo party which included byo picnic so managed to pack some good LC stuff and avoided the cake. Although my avocado came home untouched as too hard, I had 2 which were really horribly overripe last week so a bit annoying!

B - baby spinach and pal choi fried in butter then topped with melted mozzarella
L - celery, cucumber cherry toms with cream cheese and peanut butter to dip in. Small pack of hot smoked salmon. Olives, babybel
D - roast chicken with buttery crispy skin, cauli and brocs with lots of butter and chicken juices
S - some brie, gin & slim

Hoping to have at least stayed the same for tomorrow's weigh in, I've been a grumpy bugger today and boobs and back are sore so think period about to arrive.

Good luck everyone Smile

ReggaeShark · 05/06/2016 22:18

Really not been hungry today.

L: Tuna in olive oil, raw Spinach dressed with oil, celeriac remoulade
D: a chicken breast in sauce of mushrooms, shallot, cream, dijon and Parmesan, steamed broccoli and courgettes
S: couple of pork scratchings, 3 sips red wine
H2O: have left all my 500ml bottles around town so had a few jugs of water throughout the day. Feels like at least 3 litres. Hope so. Diet coke with loads of ice at the pub.

Weigh in tmrw. Hoping for even a small loss before I hit the dreaded week 3.

yongnian · 05/06/2016 22:23

Okaayyy....So...half term got the better of me....so am drawing a line under it and starting again in earnest tomorrow. 10 weeks til my hols, so gotta get a grip.
Kept my water up, at least!
Not too bad today, but won't list til I start afresh tomorrow.

NotdeadyetBOING · 05/06/2016 22:38

Today wasn't great… Definitely overdid it.

B: Creamy coffee with 2 eggs fried in butter.
L: BBQ with guests…. I (normal) sausage, I burger with melted cheese (no bun), some roast chicken, mozzarella, asparagus with hollandaise. And v. small amount of home-made banana yogurt (no sugar).
Snacks: cheddar and Quest low-carb/high protein bar.
D: Courgetti (revolting because I overcooked them) with olive oil, lemon juice, parmesan and fresh basil.

Plenty of water - but frankly plenty of everything….

Back on track tomorrow. Night all.

Gcalgske · 05/06/2016 22:53

Dinner in the sunshine, roast chicken with herby butter. Courgettie with spinach, tomato, shallot, garlic, cream, chilli. Yum.

BIWI · 05/06/2016 23:01

Notdeadyet

I'm not sure you did too badly:

B: Creamy coffee with 2 eggs fried in butter.

Perfect!

L: BBQ with guests…. I (normal) sausage, I burger with melted cheese (no bun), some roast chicken, mozzarella, asparagus with hollandaise.
All of this looks perfect as well! Although if you mean that the sausage was high carb when you say 'normal' then that won't have been great. But is this what you meant?

And v. small amount of home-made banana yogurt (no sugar)

Well this won't have been great if it was banana - doesn't matter if you didn't add sugar - banana is very high carb

Snacks: cheddar and Quest low-carb/high protein bar

Not too bad - at least it's low carb!

D: Courgetti (revolting because I overcooked them) with olive oil, lemon juice, parmesan and fresh basil

Might not have been the best, but definitely low carb!

Plenty of water - but frankly plenty of everything….

Great - you kept your water intake up!

Seriously - not too bad overall, apart from the yoghurt (and possibly the sausage).

Food was good all day

Brunch - scrambled eggs plus mushrooms and cherry tomatoes cooked in butter
S - 2 Babybels
D - steak, a flat mushroom with a slice of blue cheese plus asparagus and cherry toms cooked in butter

Red wine. Quite a bit. Three weeks since I had any alcohol at home. Enjoyed it. Back on track tomorrow.

S watching tv - four Brazil nuts and some cheese

Not great with the wine but happy enough with the food.

NotdeadyetBOING · 05/06/2016 23:17

Thanks, BIWI. Yes - meant normal sausage as in - not a low-carb one.

And actually was banana ice-cream (made with double cream and a touch of xylitol). So yes - banana high carb I know. And xylitol not ideal. BUT - not super bad…

I think I felt bad as just kept picking at stuff. Felt slightly restless and unsatisfied if that makes sense. I suspect it's just because it's SUCH a change in WOE for me that my body is taking a while to adjust.

Can't remember who posted a while back that it had taken them a few months before they really settled in to the new LC pattern and their appetite dropped away. Maybe I just need to be patient… not my strongest point

regularbutpanickingabit · 05/06/2016 23:32

So today ended up ok but not amazing:
B - scrambled egg in butter
L - leftover salmon/prawn/chilli cream wt courgettes and mushrooms fried in butter and a large handful of spinach
D- dodgy pub meal so went for double bacon cheeseburger and fries. Ate the meat and cheese on
S - cheese, fage yog

stilllovingmysleep · 06/06/2016 06:04

Hi all, just weighed myself and updated the spreadsheet--scales have been fluctuating wildly all week but anyway the final result was exactly the same as last week. Hmm

Not terrible though, taking into account that I was on holiday & on thursday night fell off the wagon.

I do lose weight EXTREMELY slowly though which is very frustrating but on the plus side, I'm not at all hungry & feel energetic & healthy, so I guess that's something. I imagine we'll have a week 4 thread so I'll see you all there.

wombattoo · 06/06/2016 06:27

Morning all
one pound off for me which I'm pleased with.
I'll be back this evening to check the new thread and enter weights for those who struggle
Good luck Thanks

MaryThorne · 06/06/2016 06:32

Just weighed myself and updated the spreadsheet. Frustrated that the number from the new scales makes it appear I've put on 3lbs but everything else suggests otherwise, also I'm down 0.4lb since I first weighed myself on the new scales on Thursday.

I didn't drink enough water yesterday, I took DS to a 3rd birthday party yesterday where they had jugs of soft drinks for the adults and then onto an Open Farm Sunday event to meet some friends. I had my 750ml water bottle with me but probably only managed

boldlygoingsomewhere · 06/06/2016 06:38

Morning,

I have stayed the same this week which is as expected for week 3 and also TOTM. Feel pretty good otherwise though.
Please could someone update the spreadsheet for me:

boldlygoingsomwhere 135

momofgirls · 06/06/2016 06:51

Good going everyone over the last week. Lots of lovely food ideas being posted.
Can someone add 157.8lb to the spreadsheet this is my lowest weight since end of last bootcamp and the inches are moving too. KOKO

stilllovingmysleep · 06/06/2016 06:56

Momofgirls congratulations for continuing to lose weight.

Overall, since I started Whole30 and then LC in March (so it's been 3 months now) I have lost almost 10 pounds so I guess that's not bad, but it's a very very slow rate of weight loss, given that I have only fallen off the wagon a couple of times over 3 months & all times were not extreme. I suppose 10 pounds in 3 months is not bad if it continues though...But tiring. Sigh. Only 3.3 pounds during BC overall.

Boldly hang in there: staying the same is much better than putting on weight & you said that's expected for week 3 which gives me a bit of courage too.

Flisspaps · 06/06/2016 07:04

Hmm.

178 again today, but given I'm been in a foul mood I'll assume I'm due on. Bit disappointed as I'd gone down to 175 on Friday Sad

stilllovingmysleep · 06/06/2016 07:15

Flisspaps, I know, its disappointing when that happens but scales do fluctuate hugely. (In fact, in the case of my scales, they fluctuate so much that they may show weight differences of a pound depending on where I place them on the bathroom floor Shock. I think I need to buy new scales!!

Flisspaps · 06/06/2016 07:28

I know. Mine go in the exact same spot on the hall floor - I've got coloured tiles so I can position it in the same place each week. I'm still down overall though, so need to KOKO.

Can someone please update the spreadsheet of doom?

stilllovingmysleep · 06/06/2016 07:32

spreadsheet of doom! Grin Love it!

To be honest, I would NEVER have managed to continue low-carbing this long, in such a happy / calm way, if it weren't for bootcamp so thank you everyone, it makes all the difference. It's great to have a group for accountability & mutual support. I don't think (in my case) I can do it any other way.

I need to find something similar for exercise as I really need to start exercising regularly...but what? Do you know of any accountability groups on MN for exercise?

BIWI · 06/06/2016 07:41

Week 4 chat thread is here

ReggaeShark · 06/06/2016 07:44

2 lbs off today. 5 last week so very pleased. Half term over so back to work and gym this week. Hoping the exercise will help prevent the week 3 stall. Have a good week everyone.

ReggaeShark · 06/06/2016 11:00

Am a week behind. Just starting week 3. Should I stay here or move across? Or both?

Mookbark · 06/06/2016 11:02

Move across Reggae that's where everyone else will be. Grin
