Morning all! I'm excited to see what the scales are telling everyone this week - it sounds like we've had some great results so far!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Here's to another successful week

Morning all! I'm on day 4 as I joined late and really starting to notice a difference eating. I had a two egg mushroom and cheese omelette this morning cooked in butter and coconut oil and coffee with extra thick double cream. Not only could I not finish the omelette because I was full up, I probably should have eaten less than I did - I think I took a few mouthfuls to compute that I could be full on what seems like such a small amount of food! Smile
Am I right in thinking this is a sign that I've moved to fat burning?

Mookbark · 28/05/2016 09:09

Mary yep, the hflc effect is doing its thing. After years of eating various low fat diets, it still amazes me how filling fat is. Well done.

MaryThorne · 28/05/2016 09:20

Thanks Mook! I'm determined to keep going with it as after years of struggling with low fat/ calorie controlled diets I've had enough. We're going to a wedding in 3 weeks so hopefully by then the dress I want to wear will look ok again. Longer term though, I'll be 40 in January and it would be wonderful to mark that milestone in better shape than I've been in throughout my 30s. how am I nearly 40?! Confused

SingToMeInFrench · 28/05/2016 09:23

Hey y'all!

Going for a curry tonight, off to research LC choices.

About to go to lidl and stock up on pork belly- going to have a go at roasting, thanks to the advice down thread with the garlic! Yum!

WanHeda · 28/05/2016 09:23

Morning all!

Tits, hope your tits feel better soon Grin I had mastitis and was very, very ill with it. Very grim.

I would also like to find a lc square sausage! Please let us know where you got it.

There is a music festival in my town this weekend, they usually have some great food stalls where I should be able to get something LC, as long as I avoid the Crepe van!

BursarsFrogs · 28/05/2016 09:26

Thanks Cider and Mook. Feeling slightly better slowly.

A&E had a surprising lack of disruptive drunks for a Friday night luckily. I was fine luckily. I think GP was being a bit overcautious sending us there, but I guess better safe than sorry.

Veryflummoxed · 28/05/2016 09:26

My dh does that Lex only the papers don't arrive that early so he goes for a walk first.

That sounds rough Titsa. Hope you're better soon Flowers

Morning all

I've only just tried bpc. Amazing!! Haven't posted for a day or so but still on track with no cheats. The pictures of all your meals have me drooling.

Mookbark · 28/05/2016 10:29

Sorry for my almost identical posts up there^^
I've only just realised something funny is going on with the app on my iPad. It keeps saying successful post, but then the post doesn't appear immediately, so I redo it and then end up with two!
Of course, you may enjoy readin my long and boring musings twice, in which case, enjoy. Grin

Morning everyone!

We are going camping for the second week of the half term hols and I wondered if anyone had any tips for staying low carb. My DH has a gig in 3 weeks and I haven't seen loads of the people who will be there for years and I would like to try and stick to this WOE while away so I don't pile it all back on.

Todays food

Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs with 2 Heck chicken sausages as dippers : )
Snack: Some crispy chicken skin (am doing butter chicken for dinner so had to skin and debone the chicken thighs. It seemed a shame to waste it so I baked it for 20 mins on high and it was delicious! But the bloody children spotted it and I lost half haha)
Lunch: snack stuff, prob avocado, olives, ham, cheese (basically stuff that needs eating in the fridge)
Dinner: Butter chicken and cauli rice

So far 2 black coffees and 2 pints of water with lemon in it.

Pengweng · 28/05/2016 10:39

Heck square sausages are 2.8gs per 100gs so not too bad.

www.heckfood.co.uk/product/fair-and-square-97-sausages

I know waitrose sells them along with their chicken sausages which are 0.5 carbs per sausage and are bloody delicious. A fair few additives though as so I wouldn't eat them everyday. Nice for a weekend treat though.

lexloofah · 28/05/2016 10:53

cider and marherita I did point out it wasn't really morning, bloody DCs had to be woken at 8am and very wish it was hard copy delivery, unfortunately we read papers on the iPad so there's no stopping him, I did say he might need to sleep in the spare room tonight, is this the start of being one of those elderly couples who have separate rooms? All because of the bloody news and probably the sports pages at that.

I am 3 cups of tea down, just having a creamy coffee

ClopySow · 28/05/2016 11:05

Thanks mook. The menu said the dish was served with salad so i wasn't expecting the potatoes. But when i think back to how heavy carbs made me feel, i just find it a bit off putting now.

I'm sort of at the stage where i'm not so bothered about the weight loss any more. I'm more bothered about continuing to feel less tired. I'm amazed at how consistent my energy levels are throughout the day.

Wintersea · 28/05/2016 11:10

Please cd some lovely low carber put my weight down for Monday weigh in
wintersea 165 llbs
Away for BH weekend and knowing today's weight is on the chart will hopefully keep me on the straight and narrow
Thank you and have a good weekend all!

Wintersea · 28/05/2016 11:11

(Calculated correctly this time!)

BIWI · 28/05/2016 11:30

Notdeadyet no I'm afraid you can't jump on and off low carbing - it's completely different from calorie counting!

Basically what low carbing does is keep your blood sugar levels stable, so you're regulating the amount of insulin you are producing - which in turn will regulate how much fat your body ends up laying down (very simplistic explanation!).

Every time you increase your carbs, you effectively increase insulin production therefore raising the likelihood of laying down fat.

You don't create a carb deficit in the same way you can with calories.

However, I know that there are other low carb plans that advocate a carb feast day, and StuntNun knows more about this than I do.

But if you're joining us on Bootcamp, please follow Bootcamp rules, which means no rice (not even a small amount) and definitely no chocolate tart!

PengWeng if you're camping, and have a cooking stove, then I'd make sure I took lots of lovely breakfast stuff, and start the day with a fry up.

Other things that are good would be a stash of hard boiled eggs (assuming you have a cool bag?), sachets of tuna - Sainsbury's sell their own brand of different flavoured ones, and they're all pretty low carb.

And you could always go to M&S and stock up on some of their tapas-y type stuff - lots of that is low(ish) carb. Along with individually wrapped cheese, etc.

Statelychangers · 28/05/2016 11:54

Gcalgske Heck square sausage - it's just like sausage without the skin, not sure how close it is to the Scottish version - I use it a lot instead of making meat balls. I've done a bit of research into the preservatives used in meat products and I'm relaxed about it.

restinglawyer · 28/05/2016 12:32

Any fellow park runners out there? Just did my first one since starting this woe (3 and a bit weeks ago) and still feel my body is struggling over 5 k compared to the carb fuelled days (and we're not talking elite athlete here - any thing under 31 minutes is a great run for me). I read in the sport science book that BIWI mentioned somewhere that your body takes at least 2 weeks to become fat adapted enough to burn fat properly when exercising, and wondered what others' experience is - have you managed to get your times back to your carb-fuelled running times and how long does it take? Reluctant to start having porridge again before a run now that I'm in the LC groove.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 28/05/2016 12:39

Just checking in - great to see so many still going with this WOE. The last couple of days I've really struggled with hunger- I suspect my fat intake was not high enough as the meat was quite lean. Having chicken salad for lunch but dowsing in mayonnaise!

I would also love a thread post bootcamp for maintenance as I think I will need help to help me work out how many carbs to increase to. I'm missing sweet potatoes and butternut squash and would like that option sometimes. Not missing bread at all which is a real surprise!

wombattoo · 28/05/2016 13:01

Good afternoon all
I have updated the spreadsheet for Fliss, Stately and Wintersea
Welcome lasttimeround I have added you to the bottom of the sheet - you just need to enter your weight

ClopySow · 28/05/2016 13:19

Couldn't face breakfast again today so just coffee with coconut oil and cream

Lunch was amazing. Halloumi fried in butter with very peppery buttered spinach.

Trying to decide what to do with pork belly strips for dinner. Any suggestions?

reader77 · 28/05/2016 13:51

Clopy i love fried halloumi. And coffee with cream. Things like that help me keep going and not feel deprived. Actually feels quite luxurious!

I am determined to drink all my water today. Failed miserably yesterday. I'm a litre and bit down and I feel so much better when I drink a lot of water.

So far:

B- two eggs with little cream scrambled in butter with a left over piece of salmon.

L- chilli and courgetti with cheese on top.

S- a couple of creamy coffees.

I'll probably have the rest of my lunch for dinner, it was nice. Smile

lasttimeround · 28/05/2016 14:14

Thanks for the spreadsheet help. I'm excited about how good I feel
Cold lunch today chicken breast cubes with celery in yoghurt and aioli.

Week 2: Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp - come and weigh-in!
