Oh, and on the subject of vinegar, I have two white wine vinegars. Both supermarket's own.
The bog standard one is 2 carbs per whatever it was, the much nicer Italian style one is 14! Shock

Mookbark · 22/05/2016 14:41

The differing carb counts can be quite confusing, can't they? We had 3 different pots of olives the other day, with counts between 3 and 7g.
Can I ask what people mean when they say they water down the cream for coffee? I'm a bit confused, because when you put it in, there's water in the coffee anyway, iyswim. Confused

Veryflummoxed · 22/05/2016 14:47

Moonbark I was trying to work that one out too

SoMuchToBits · 22/05/2016 14:48

And me! Grin

Xoticdreamz · 22/05/2016 15:01

I mix the double cream with some water before putting it in the coffee so it's less thick and more like milk .
It's a bit rich for me otherwise .

SoMuchToBits · 22/05/2016 15:44

Isn't that the same as just adding less cream though? Or am I being thick (like the cream)? Confused

Xoticdreamz · 22/05/2016 15:48

It goes gloopy and sometimes curdles a bit if I just put it in .., it is extra thick double though as that's the lowest carb .
I do like my coffee pretty milky though so perhaps if you doesn't matter .

Xoticdreamz · 22/05/2016 15:48

" if you don't "

CathemeralChild · 22/05/2016 16:13

I just bought a snack pot of olives and feta in oil from the supermarket and a scoffed the lot. 2,55 carbs.
Glad we're not counting calories. That was 382!
I didn't buy cauliflower. :(
A small one, the size of a large grapefruit was €2,69. Shock
It was Spanish. That's doubly crazy as I was on Spain a few weeks back where a cauliflower the size of my head was €1. DM bought one and it fed five of us.
Okay, maybe not quite as big as my head. Grin

Jemima and BIWI there is some research that shows a high sugar intake can alter the effectiveness of some medicines so I assume sudden changes in sugar intake can have a knock on effect. If that's the case for you Jemima then you would need to be careful of suddenly upping your sugar intake too as it could affect your asthma control. I was reading about it in Yudkin's book which is from the 80s so I'm not sure what the current research (if any) is.

The trick to putting cream in coffee is to stir the coffee then pour the cream over the back of the spoon then stir the coffee.

I've not checked in for a couple of days as its been a crazy weekend. I'm still doing ok despite eating out a couple of times over the weekend. I didn't cheat on food but succumbed to a couple of glasses of wine.

Today:
B smoked salmon and scrambled egg
L babybel, rocket and corgetti, tomato and cucumber
D Salmon and a massive salad and a big portion of natural yoghurt

Drinks 2 bullet coffess, tea, water

Not convinced I've los tmuch weight but I do feel better - no drowsiness in the afternoon, more energy, and no shaky hunger

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 22/05/2016 16:53

Ugh. I was so hungry this afternoon! After a babybel and olives I just gave up and made a meal: courgetti with cream sauce and lots of cheese. I guess 11:00 lunch was a bad idea!

BIWI · 22/05/2016 17:06

Did you have breakfast?

WanHeda · 22/05/2016 17:11

Found that Asda's own peanut butter is 4.4g carbs compared to 11g+ on all other brands! As I am doing BClite on weekends (Im 3 weeks in) I used some to make a really tasty satay sauce.

I can recommend this mayo recipe. Obvs you can faff and add other stuff but the basic recipe is mega easy and hasn't failed me yet!

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 22/05/2016 17:15

BIWI yes I had Greek yoghurt and cream, and coffee with butter and coconut oil. I hate to admit it but I've convinced myself that sweeteners wouldn't make a difference so I had a squash this afternoon. I was wrong. I'm now sure it's what made me so hungry.

This week I've failed pretty much every time I've tried to be clever and bend the rules so I guess I should just learn my lesson!

WanHeda · 22/05/2016 17:16

The crunchy one is 4.4g, the smooth is 10.9g, anyone know why this would be?

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 22/05/2016 17:18

Wanheda a lot of peanut butters have sugar in the to make them sweet. I buy natural (but not in bc!) and I can really taste the difference.

lexloofah · 22/05/2016 17:21

Had a lovely lunch, managed to BBQ inbetween rain showers: hm lamb burgers with Garlic and lemon, thick aubergine slices soaked in olive oil before putting on and halved shallots, they go so sweet when cooked

Just back from a kids party and it is looking like fridge picnic for tea, need to go shopping tmrw as out of everything, including eggs!

WanHeda · 22/05/2016 17:25

Socially, I was just wondering what makes Asda's own brand crunchy so much less than the smooth version, the sugar content appears to be roughly the same?

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 22/05/2016 17:42

Do you mean the sugars per 100g are the same but crunchy has lower carbs per 100g? It's possible they're adding some kind of starch for texture I suppose. I've never compared in that way.

wombattoo · 22/05/2016 17:57

I think it was Indiana that asked about bullet proof coffee (bpc). It is simply coffee, but instead of using milk, add a teaspoon of unsalted butter and a teaspoon of coconut oil and use a frother to blend it. It is similar to a latte

Mookbark · 22/05/2016 18:53

Had a lovely dinner - pork loin, celeriac and leek mash, broccoli and roasted cauliflower. I must confess that in previous BC's I have used bisto gravy. Just once a week and only about 70mls. I knew it was wrong hangs head in shame but I couldn't stop myself. Well, today I made a proper gravy. Celery and shallots in the bottoms of the roasting tin and gravy made out of the juice. It wasn't bad, even if I say so myself.
I've had too much coffee today, otherwise had s good day.
Happy weighing tomorrow everyone. Flowers

Mookbark · 22/05/2016 18:56

Oh, I don't think BPC is allowed in BC, is it?

Mookbark · 22/05/2016 19:05

Or it might be that you can't have a BPC in place of a meal. Not enough nutrients.
Or I may just be speaking rubbish, I obviously can't really remember. Grin
I'm sure, though, in a previous BC stuntnun came and told us all something about them. I just can't remember what. Blush
