I made a courgette and bacon omelette for breakfast. Not weighing as feeling really bloated - period is due and we had guests this weekend so I did have a couple of glasses of wine, slice of birthday cake and other little slips. My waist measurement is up two inches! Yikes.

Not sure about lunch, making bolognese for tea - courgetti for me, pasta and garlic bread for my carb loving family.

WanHeda · 22/05/2016 11:12

Sarrya, yes Mary Poppins was amazing, wasn't it! I even had tears in my eyes at the end Grin I absolutely love musicals and this is the 5th I've been to this year.

Lunch was at a lovely pub on the Royal Mile, had a BLT sandwich & salad, ate one slice of bread but scraped the filling off the other side. Dinner was at Frankie & Bennys, they do a lovely avocado, chicken & bacon salad. The bowl was huge - bigger than my head lol! I did have a diet pepsi though, but it was better than the wine everyone else had.

Also found these in M&S - perfect nibbles for the train journey while everyone else had crisps!

I just had tuna mayo and celery sticks for lunch with my toddler, who rejected his tuna mayo in bread sandwich and ate half a banana. He doesn't know how good he has it! It's weird not to be able to eat all his random leftovers but I'm sure it's better for me.

Now I'm really craving lasagne with courgette slices instead of pasta. It would mean going out for ricotta or cottage cheese and we just did our big shop yeserday! I may do it anyway because it's another thing the whole family would eat together and I really hate eating separately. Among other disadvantages, it's confusing to my ds.

Eva50 · 22/05/2016 11:49

My ds3 (9) appears to be embracing this WOE. He had the breakfast muffins this morning and has just requested a boiled egg and roasted vegetables for lunch!

monkeyfacegrace · 22/05/2016 11:56

I had Friday night 'off' as it was DH birthday. It wasn't impulsive, it was planned and has been for months, so I have no regrets. Though the scales show a 4lb gain today Grin

Today I've had a chunk of cheese and 2 packs of pork scratchings, and I've done the kids 2k parkrun with them.

Will have courgette and aubergine with minced beef for tea, with guacamole and sour cream probably.

4l of water.

JemimaMuddledUp · 22/05/2016 12:20

Glen I'm on 4 types of tablets as well as the inhalers. The ones that tend to cause problems if I change the way I eat are slow release, eating differently can change the rate at which they are absorbed. I had the same problem with fast days on 5:2. My asthma is quite acute, so minor changes can have a pretty big effect. I'm now looking at Smart Carbs (Davina) or No Carbs After 5 (Joanna Hall) as being less extreme ways of cutting carbs than LCHF.

BIWI · 22/05/2016 12:23

Jemima - it really doesn't sound to me like you should be messing about like this with different diets, without talking to your GP/asthma nurse Confused

boldlygoingsomewhere · 22/05/2016 12:26

WanHeda, I bought those yesterday too! I had them with a tapas style lunch. Very tasty!

LaserShark · 22/05/2016 12:57

Just tried making my own mayo. It is almost nice. I just made it far too salty and it's not quite as thick as I'd like. I might try mixing a bit with some tuna to see if it's ok. All the recipes I found promised me is never want to buy it ready made again, but it was a bit too much hassle for a not-brilliant result so I'm not convinced!

BIWI · 22/05/2016 13:04

How did you make it, LaserShark?

Home-made is very different, but I think it's because we're just accustomed to the sweetness of commercial mayo!

First time I made it I used extra virgin olive oil which was a real mistake, as the flavour of the oil just over-powers everything else.

LaserShark · 22/05/2016 13:23

I whisked an egg yolk with salt and white wine vinegar and then added normal olive oil slowly - but it broke and went thin so I had to whisk in a bit of boiling water and then slowly drip the whole thing over another egg yolk still whisking away. It took quite some time! If it was just a bit less salty I wouldn't mind that it's not quite thick enough. It has a lovely creaminess.

glenthebattleostrich · 22/05/2016 13:36

Then definitely discuss any dietary changes with your doctor. Absorption rates are based on a traditional high carb diet I think.

I'm slightly embarrassed to admit this but I've just tried avocado for the first time. Why didn't anyone tell me how good it is? !!

AuntieMaggie · 22/05/2016 13:41

I am so hungry today ! No idea why but it's really unusual for me...

Bfast scrambled egg, mushrooms, spinach and bacon
Lunch prawns, avocado, salad leaves, cucumber and mayo.
Dinner some sort of grilled meat with brocolli and cauli and maybe swede

Wintersea · 22/05/2016 13:48

Isnt it awful that the scales show a massive gain after one night's indulgence yet stay stuck for ages after DAYS of being strict...
Realise I hv had a massive fail eating lots of tomatoes in my Greek salad yesterday... Was thinking healthy rather than low carb. Oh well. Going to be strict fir the next few days and really try to up the water intake.

flyright · 22/05/2016 13:51

Hi everyone. Been catching up with the last thread and this one after enforced tech abstention at my parents house. I'm 53 so should be able to determine my own actions but looking at your phone or laptop whilst in their presence is strongly frowned upon

Went to a wedding with my mum yesterday and did okay with the food. A couple of mouthfuls that were off piste but generally all was good. Although maybe the little pot of creme brûlée is not entirely recommended Smile

And it was a wedding. So I had to have some champagne. And white wine with the starter. And some lovely red with the beef.

I've been low carbing for 4 weeks so am past the 2 week kick off period but even at the start I failed to avoid wine completely. But it is limited to 2 or 3 days. Which for me us a step forward

But the result of the booze is that I do feel under par today and want to eat things to make me feel better. I have to remember if I am going to drink my tolerance is less than it used to be and I really don't need more than a couple of glasses

Enjoying all the ideas on here. Want to make BIWIs muffins. They look great. Maybe next weekend

Good luck to us all for weigh day

BursarsFrogs · 22/05/2016 13:51

Jemima that sounds rotten. I hope you feel better soon, and if BC isn’t for you, hopefully the light version will be better, or your asthma nurse will be able to recommend something. I have asthma too (not as bad as yours from the sound of your meds!) and it’s been fairly bad, but I’ve put that down to it being pollen season.

I’m back to feeling okay today. Even a 30+ mins run on Couch to 10K didn’t wipe me out, and we’ve been out just enjoying the sun afterwards.

Foods today:
B: two fried eggs and creamy coffee
S: pastrami slices
L: mozzarella ball, various salad veggies and olive oil
D: roast pork (incl. crackling) and swede wedges

Wintersea · 22/05/2016 13:53

Ashamed to say I hv never tried to make my own mayo... might hv a go later to hv with steak and salad (lots of green leaves and avocado plus one spring onion and a teaspoon of toasted pine nuts)...
Lunch has been grazing on left over beef/pork meatballs with a couple of sticks of celery and cubes of cheese
Hope everyone has a good day!

BIWI · 22/05/2016 13:54

By the way, someone was talking about being bloated - if you are, then up your water even more (sorry!)

LaserShark · 22/05/2016 14:03

That was me, Biwi. I'm desperate for a glass of water right now but toddler has finally succumbed to nap on top of me and I'm stuck til I dare move him. If I ever say I'm going to do a wee, he charges to the door and flings himself in front of it to block my path unless I take him with me. It's a constant battle to get my water intake with him as saboteur! I drink loads of sparkling water, there is no disadvantage compared to tap water is there?

monkeyfacegrace · 22/05/2016 14:06

Sparkling is fine.

reader77 · 22/05/2016 14:07

I've been doing some cooking for the next few days today. I've made roast chicken pieces (skin on with butter) spicy mince with mushrooms, a bolognese and a batch of eggs muffins. Fail to prepare and all that!

B- Skyr yogurt with a bit of added cream because it was ff.
L- two muffins, lettuce and crudités with sour cream dip.
D- not sure
Need to drink more water.

anniebambammie · 22/05/2016 14:22

I spent a large part of today feeling quite queasy.... Anyone else? Ive been drinking all day but I might need to up the water

CathemeralChild · 22/05/2016 14:33

I am currently in soft play hell and there is nothing, I repeat NOTHING here that I can eat.
In fact, I can even drink the coffee as it's Nescafé and I boycott Nestlé.

I might sneak off in a minute to a supermarket and leave DH in charge. You lot all posting about your fancy noodles and things I've never heard off; I can't even get a cauliflower where I live! They're out of season. As we're now in a larger town I'm hoping I can get some frozen. I forgot the cool bag and it's quite warm today, despite the rain but I'm sure it won't kill me.
