Morning all!

I see we have almost 90 brave souls signed up this time. Welcome everyone, and to the lurkers at the back.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

The list is alphabetised, and all you need to do is to add your weight next to your name. Don't do anything else or touch any of the other cells! If your name isn't on the list for any reason, add it to the bottom of everyone else's names, and the lovely Sayrra will re-alphabetise the list later.

If you don't want to put your actual weight, you can index it - i.e. your starting weight is 100, and every pound you lose is one. So if you started today at 160 lbs, and in the first week lost 7lbs, then next week you'd enter 93.

Also, don't feel that you have to weigh today - you might prefer to make another day of the week your weigh-in day. Up to you - but the spreadsheet is there as a resource to help you track how it's all going.

Re weighing, if you can, weigh first thing in the morning, naked, and before you eat or drink anything else. Don't weigh later on in the day, as all you're doing is weighing yourself plus whatever you've had to eat or drink. And use the same scales. Remember, it's not the actual weight that the scales tell you, more the weight that you've lost that counts.

Some people prefer to weigh every day - I'm one of them, as it helps to keep me focused - and some prefer to weigh once a week. It's up to you which you prefer. Bear in mind, though, that if you weigh every day you are very likely to see the scales fluctuate, which means that they may go up for no apparent reason. This is totally normal, as your weight can fluctuate on a daily basis (especially if your period is due). But psychologically it can be quite difficult - so if you don't think you'd be able to cope with this, then weekly weighing is for you.

I'm going to start a questions thread now as well. In the first few weeks of Bootcamp the chat thread can move very quickly, and it's easy for posts to get missed - so if you have a particular burning question, it's probably best to post it on the dedicated thread. And if we can all keep an eye on the questions thread, rather than just me, we can get everything answered quickly!

I self-sabotaged, please hit me with the stick biwi!!

Did so well, went out and avoided the wine, the pizza, sausage rolls, sandwiches (ate some cheese out if the middle of one), had a little bit of coleslaw and drank only water. Then later on i had a headache and didnt want to leave yet, so i picked at a bowl of fucking crisps. Argh. Thought i could just have one or two, wont try that again.

ICJump · 24/01/2016 06:43

hefzi that blog looks great thanks

B fried eggs with BBQ veg a chunk of Brie spinach and two coffees with double cream
L salad tuna mayo and Brie
A flat white cheese disks and celery
D BBQ lamb leg with BBQ veg
If I have an evening snack will be pate l

FelicityFunknickle · 24/01/2016 07:20

Poor beyond don't beat yourself up.
Do you think the coleslaw might have had some trigger-y carbs?
It is tough with a headache. I am trying warm drinks now when I get one. (Bloody sinuses are suffering atm) Seems to help and gets rid of the desperation to comfort eat. Cinnamon tea is my fave right now.
At least crisps have fat in

SocksRock · 24/01/2016 08:28

So, for breakfast I had spinach, bacon and egg all fried up in butter with a small amount of grated cheese on top. I read the spreadsheets (twice!) and this would seem to be a good low carb breakfast - am I on the right track?

mustbemad71 · 24/01/2016 09:27

Beyond put it behind you - today is another day! Onwards and downwards in the scales!

I've followed BIWI's link and plan to do the diet doctor two week challenge sticking to BC rules. We cook double for dinner and have it again for lunch - this makes perfect sense and will save loads of time and I suspect a bit of money too - less waste. Fail to prepare and prepare to fail and all that!

Looking forward to tomorrow night's creamy pesto bake!

milkmilklemonade12 · 24/01/2016 10:08

I've survived the weekend and haven't broken; I'm SO proud of myself! Usually I'd go 'ah fuck it, start again Monday' and I haven't and that's amazing for me.

I'm going out for dinner next week and I've already downloaded the menu and decided I'm having the spinach, bacon and avocado salad ahead of time, and I've said to DH if there's starters then can he share the meat platter with me and he's agreed so that's great!

beyond don't worry, it was a few hours out of the week. It probably won't have a massive effect, and these things happen.

BIWI · 24/01/2016 10:21

Bippity - where are you getting your carb counts from? Spinach is 1.6g carbs per 100g and iceberg lettuce is 1.4 - they're virtually identical! And both very low carb. Please don't obsess about how much of such a low carb veg you can have. You'd have to eat kilos of either to be eating a high carb diet!

SocksRock that sounds perfect (and yummy!)

Beyond looking at what you swerved, it could have been a lot worse! Drink plenty of water and keep today/tomorrow as low carb as you can

milkmilk brilliant!

I think today will be a bit of a washout as we have carby stuff to finish off. But new week tomorrow, and a shopping delivery, so plenty of low carb options. I am drinking lots of water though!

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 24/01/2016 11:13

I'm back on the ball, youre right, it could have been so much worse!!

Had a bpc for breakfast as dh is cooking early lunch. Lunch will be lc sausages, swede mash with butter, and broccoli (i fancy boiled, so will put some butter on it or something!)

feekerry · 24/01/2016 11:36

I went to cinema last night and took my own batch of Parmesan fritter things instead of popcorn! Went down well!!

BIWI · 24/01/2016 11:37

Breakfast this morning:

small pack of cooking chorizo (ready diced) from Sainsburys - the packs that come in two separate pods - use one of those
small shallot, finely chopped
green chilli, finely chopped
half a red pepper, finely chopped
4 chestnut mushrooms, finely chopped
12 cherry tomatoes
8 medium eggs
couple of large handfuls of grated mature cheddar
salt & black pepper to season

(I also added some leftover roast veg that I had from dinner last night, which was onion, fennel, courgette and yellow pepper - this did bulk them up a bit, so you might want to increase the quantities of mushroom and pepper in the above list)

Fry all the ingredients except the eggs, tomatoes and cheese till softened, season them while they're cooking (go easy on the salt as chorizo can be quite salty), then fill a 12 hole muffin tin with the mixture

Beat the eggs together, season with a little bit of black pepper, then pour the mixture into the muffin tin holes

Add a cherry tomato on top of each one, then top with grated cheese.

Bake at 180 (fan) for around 15-18 minutes, until they're golden brown on top.

And they made me smile when they came out of the oven because I realised they looked like Biscuit Grin

Might be a dumb question but if I add double cream to an Americano made in my tassimo machine, this is ok isn't it?! I've always been a tea or latte drinker so not sure on my other drinks....

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/01/2016 11:46

4 lbs down now! I now have 18 weeks to go until my holiday and am hoping for a further 25lbs off in that time.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 24/01/2016 11:48

Yep disco, its my drink of choice! Grin
The costa one?

DiscoDancer · 24/01/2016 11:50

Yes beyond, the costa ones. Had put all my lattes out of sight as I love the caramel ones but I'm at work today and needed a treat!

Feel really slim today even though the scales haven't moved. The fact I'm knee deep in tax returns and not munching away on chocolate and paninis is bloody amazing. Might have a glass of white on the 31st jan though!

StuntNun · 24/01/2016 12:27

BIWI I need you to come round with your big stick and brandish it threateningly at my DH. He decided to try microwaving a swede yesterday so we could have bangers and mash. (Prick the swede a few times with a fork, microwave for ten minutes, turn over and microwave it for another ten minutes, cut in half and scoop out the cooked swede for mash.) All well and good until he mashed the swede with carrots! He's been eating low carb for years, he really should know better by now.

BIWI · 24/01/2016 12:53
Grin

Would it really have been so bad though? How much did you actually eat?

OP posts:
BIWI · 24/01/2016 12:54

Disco - I'm impressed by your fortitude! And don't worry about the scales too much - weight loss on this WOE doesn't appear to be linear, from others' reports over the years. So you may suddenly find that you drop a few pounds, after days of staying the same.

I ate loads BIWI it was scrummy. In the grand scheme of things it probably wasn't too bad carb wise, especially as I'm on Bootcamp Light. It's more that DH is still somewhat clueless about carb counts.

BIWI · 24/01/2016 13:27

Maybe you need to give him a list of things not to buy or cook with?

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 24/01/2016 13:42

Reckon my macros today make up for the crisps :)

BIWI my DH is big into fitness and weights and all the rest of it. Very clued up on diet etc and kinda guy who sneezes and loses 10lbs. Infuriating. However, he has long been an advocate of a 'cheat meal' once a week, in order to keep the metabolism working by shocking it with loads of calories in one hit. Also gives flexibility with nights out etc.

Now, I've seen on the internet reading around that there are a lot of people who are advocates for this. However; does it actually work? Does your metabolism need to be boosted? Or is it just a comfort for people on strict diets?

milkmilklemonade12 · 24/01/2016 13:44

Well done beyond, back on the horse today and just forget about yesterday xx
