Morning all!

I see we have almost 90 brave souls signed up this time. Welcome everyone, and to the lurkers at the back.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

The list is alphabetised, and all you need to do is to add your weight next to your name. Don't do anything else or touch any of the other cells! If your name isn't on the list for any reason, add it to the bottom of everyone else's names, and the lovely Sayrra will re-alphabetise the list later.

If you don't want to put your actual weight, you can index it - i.e. your starting weight is 100, and every pound you lose is one. So if you started today at 160 lbs, and in the first week lost 7lbs, then next week you'd enter 93.

Also, don't feel that you have to weigh today - you might prefer to make another day of the week your weigh-in day. Up to you - but the spreadsheet is there as a resource to help you track how it's all going.

Re weighing, if you can, weigh first thing in the morning, naked, and before you eat or drink anything else. Don't weigh later on in the day, as all you're doing is weighing yourself plus whatever you've had to eat or drink. And use the same scales. Remember, it's not the actual weight that the scales tell you, more the weight that you've lost that counts.

Some people prefer to weigh every day - I'm one of them, as it helps to keep me focused - and some prefer to weigh once a week. It's up to you which you prefer. Bear in mind, though, that if you weigh every day you are very likely to see the scales fluctuate, which means that they may go up for no apparent reason. This is totally normal, as your weight can fluctuate on a daily basis (especially if your period is due). But psychologically it can be quite difficult - so if you don't think you'd be able to cope with this, then weekly weighing is for you.

I'm going to start a questions thread now as well. In the first few weeks of Bootcamp the chat thread can move very quickly, and it's easy for posts to get missed - so if you have a particular burning question, it's probably best to post it on the dedicated thread. And if we can all keep an eye on the questions thread, rather than just me, we can get everything answered quickly!

Babybel gave away a little plastic microwave melting tray in every pack a few years ago. I still didn't try it, I've never been able to eat cheese in huge lumps.

mustbemad71 · 21/01/2016 14:52

Really starting to feel in the swing of this WOE but worried about the weekend - when it usually all goes to pot!

ChesterDrawers · 21/01/2016 15:02

It's genius, the cheese goes all crispy and crunchy like a huge wotsit, nothing like a chunk of cheese at all.

I have had a forth Blush

Jerm123 · 21/01/2016 15:09

They are amazing. I've been having them in the evening. A plus is the saltiness makes me want to drink water.

VagueIdeas · 21/01/2016 15:09

Hmm, I could maybe get on board with that. How long do you zap it for?

Jerm123 · 21/01/2016 15:11

1 min 15 secs, then check it. If you put in the bottom of a wide mug, the machine is saved from splashes and you get a perfect disk of loveliness.

Patapouf · 21/01/2016 15:30

Hi Gcalgske! I know what you mean- seeing the same faces from previous BCs is somehow motivational for me 😊

I know to steer clear of petit pois from here on in, I should have bulked it out with more leek.

B: felt nauseous first thing but managed a tiny bit of total yog and a cheestring mid morning.
L: leftover cottage pie with peas picked out.
D: undecided, it's either going to be pork ribs and salad or lamb meatballs with garlic and courgetti.

Struggling to drink all of the water I should be, I'm nowhere near a toilet for huge chunks of the day which makes chugging litres a bit risky.

DartmoorDoughnut · 21/01/2016 15:56

Yes BIWI it was in oil and I added mayo and spring onions and ate it on little gem lettuce, very yummy!

milkmilklemonade12 · 21/01/2016 16:13

I'm making flax garlic bread to go with tonight's meatballs and courgetti... Wish me luck!!

hefzi · 21/01/2016 17:16

Cassandra that cauliflower cheese looks amazing! What does the xanthan gum do in it? I strongly suspect my local Asda won't carry that, so I might do an experimental version without and see! (Oh, and without the bacon too...)

feekerry · 21/01/2016 17:19

hello recyclingbag we are still on week 1 so sure u can maybe add ur name to list?

Massive thing I have noticed is need for sweet/sugar stuff is a lot less. Went to a kids party today and there was sweets and cake and all I wanted to go was go home and eat those Parmesan crisp things Blush

Wombatinabathhat · 21/01/2016 17:57

Well I consider myself an experienced low carber but I messed up, so a word of warning - for some unknown reason, I had all sorts of cravings yesterday. Last night I ate some sweets Blush The result is that today my cravings are out of control and I have eaten several things I shouldn't have. I'm intending to get back on track tomorrow, but I have probably buggered my weight loss for this week.
Lesson learned and all that ... sigh

milkmilklemonade12 · 21/01/2016 18:00

Meatballs and courgetti, with flax garlic focaccia. The focaccia looked a little like brownies but there we are 😉 It was absolutely lovely though and we all agreed we would have it again. I was shocked DH enjoyed the bread; he doesn't usually enjoy LC recipes!

I won't have pc access for a few days so please could someone chalk me up at 219. Thanks very much.

Wombatinabathhat · 21/01/2016 18:13

Is that your wine milk ? Wink

When I've added you

Gcalgske · 21/01/2016 18:17

Hefzi most supermarkets carry xanthan for gluten free baking in the free from/ speciality section. Use it sparingly, I've had some disasters with it in the past. The tiniest bit is all you need. It's not very soluble in water based things (so if you try to add it to a thin liquid you get a lumpy mess) it is however soluble in fat so I normally make a faux roux with butter or olive oil then add liquid, it's much less likely to gum up. Not sure where BC stands on it though, don't think it would be allowed until BC lite probably. biwi guidance? Technically it's quite high in carbs but you use a tiny tiny bit (1/2 tsp will thicken a 4-6 serving stew) but it's not really real food....

FelicityFunknickle · 21/01/2016 18:17

Today
Breakfast: BPC and a hard boiled egg
Lunch: Turkey salad with avocado and mayo
Snacks: 2 pepperami, 2 cheese strings Blush
supper: 3 sausages and a plate of steamed kale
Dreading making this chocolate cake.

recyclingbag · 21/01/2016 18:27

Thank you. I'll just be a bit late to the party.

I'll start tomorrow - although I have stew for tea tonight.

Does anybody have any nutribullet tips? At the moment I use bananas and cherries which I'm assuming is a no go.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 21/01/2016 18:55

Ive found today a bit easier. Also I peed on a stick at work and it was positive for ketones which i guess is good.

B.. Greek yoghurt
L. Homemade egg and veg muffins. Carrot sticks.
S babybel
D courgetti bolognase

milkmilklemonade12 · 21/01/2016 18:59

recycling I do spinach, avocado, cucumber and frozen blackberries and strawberries, then coconut water to the fill line and chia seeds.

Obviously the berries are out for Bootcamp, and I've tried a pure veg smoothie; it's not great. Worth waiting for though!

milkmilklemonade12 · 21/01/2016 19:00

wombat haha yes it is Wink I've done 2 weeks Bootcamp so far and it's my day off, so I'm having a little celebration!

NigellasGuest · 21/01/2016 19:03

Has anyone any tips for keeping off the Total & cream in the evenings?
Evenings are so hard - I find the day so much easier because I'm on the go.

VagueIdeas · 21/01/2016 19:42

Know what you mean Nigella! I probably reach for dairy a bit too often, especially if I'm feeling snacky. But I'm pretty sure during the last bootcamp, once I was keto adapted there was a definite drop in appetite/dessert cravings and I didn't feel the need to eat between meals at all.

I've run out of Total so that helps me keep off it!

Husband is out schmoozing after work tonight. Ordinarily I would be hitting the chocolate and gin to reward myself for surviving the entire day with a baby and a four year old. Instead I've just remembered I bought some posh pork scratchings (reduced in the Waitrose Christmas party food section!) so that'll be my treat tonight.

BIWI · 21/01/2016 19:46

Welcome, recyclingbag! Just add your name to the spreadsheet and jump in! And bananas and cherries are definitely not allowed - make sure you look for the Bootcamp rules (on one of the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet)

Cassandra and hefzi you don't need the xanthan gum to make a good cheese sauce. Just nuke 300mls of double cream (the size of a medium pot) with a generous handful of mature cheddar and you'll get a lovely cheese sauce

Felicity - quite a bit of processed stuff going on in your menus ignores reference to chocolate cake

Nigella - stop buying the stuff! Seriously, if you can't resist it, then don't have it in the house

WhoTheFuck - carrots? I thought I'd posted about those!

mustbemad so what's your plan for the weekend? Or are you leading up to cheating?

hefzi · 21/01/2016 19:55

Thanks, Gcalgske and BIWI - very helpful! I did a big shop today, and couldn't remember if I wanted double or single cream, so went for single - but I've made a note of that for next time, as that's a brilliant tip.
