Morning all!

I see we have almost 90 brave souls signed up this time. Welcome everyone, and to the lurkers at the back.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

The list is alphabetised, and all you need to do is to add your weight next to your name. Don't do anything else or touch any of the other cells! If your name isn't on the list for any reason, add it to the bottom of everyone else's names, and the lovely Sayrra will re-alphabetise the list later.

If you don't want to put your actual weight, you can index it - i.e. your starting weight is 100, and every pound you lose is one. So if you started today at 160 lbs, and in the first week lost 7lbs, then next week you'd enter 93.

Also, don't feel that you have to weigh today - you might prefer to make another day of the week your weigh-in day. Up to you - but the spreadsheet is there as a resource to help you track how it's all going.

Re weighing, if you can, weigh first thing in the morning, naked, and before you eat or drink anything else. Don't weigh later on in the day, as all you're doing is weighing yourself plus whatever you've had to eat or drink. And use the same scales. Remember, it's not the actual weight that the scales tell you, more the weight that you've lost that counts.

Some people prefer to weigh every day - I'm one of them, as it helps to keep me focused - and some prefer to weigh once a week. It's up to you which you prefer. Bear in mind, though, that if you weigh every day you are very likely to see the scales fluctuate, which means that they may go up for no apparent reason. This is totally normal, as your weight can fluctuate on a daily basis (especially if your period is due). But psychologically it can be quite difficult - so if you don't think you'd be able to cope with this, then weekly weighing is for you.

I'm going to start a questions thread now as well. In the first few weeks of Bootcamp the chat thread can move very quickly, and it's easy for posts to get missed - so if you have a particular burning question, it's probably best to post it on the dedicated thread. And if we can all keep an eye on the questions thread, rather than just me, we can get everything answered quickly!

BIWI I found a small pack if pre chopped ones for some lazy veg. I have now pre chopped a fair bit of lower carb stuff now. Aiming for veggies in snacks as I'm trying to avoid cheese as a snack as I'm not very restrained.

Engelbert · 20/01/2016 09:29

Sneaky weigh in this morning. Only 1/2 pound till I'm no longer obese. Am both Grin and Blush that it ever got this bad. Still onwards and downwards with the scales!

That babybel thing sounds amazing!

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/01/2016 09:53

fruit tea.

Hibuscus, Ammple Pomace, Blackberry leaves, Maltodextrin, Flavourings, Strawberry fibres, Cranberrys pomace, Raspberry fibres, Rosehip.

Is this ok? and how much do you have to worry about/check the ingrediants of fruit tea?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 20/01/2016 10:11

Gcalgske - thank you :)
I made some fresh salmon paté tonight in fact, before I saw your recipe - not bad but needs more seasoning (mine, not yours!)

I also checked all the patés in the supermarket - chicken, duck, pheasant - all containing chicken livers.

Mushroom paté sounds good too, thanks BIWI :)

Took the nurofen before I saw your message but will have aspirin next time instead.

So dinner was homemade salmon paté (cooked in butter and then Boursin added into the mix, along with lemon juice, garlic salt and fresh coriander), eaten with celery sticks. Yum!

blackteaplease · 20/01/2016 10:22

I am loving the sound of lots of the food you are all eating. I won't post my food yet as I am doing B.C. light due to breastfeeding.

I am doing well with water and am very proud that when the munchies struck in waitrose last night I bought babybel as a snack and I ignored crisps when I got home.

I am starving though, does it matter if I eat lots during the day as long as it is low carb?

RomiiRoo · 20/01/2016 10:27

Thanks, biwi, gcalske and *thumb, it is nice to be back. One step towards self-care; should have realised things were sliding, to be honest. I hope everyone on here is okay.

I have just had an omelette (two eggs), with spinach and mackerel, which was yummy, and I am having a black coffee. I am meeting a colleague/friend for lunch, but I have been to the cafe before and it has suitable salads. I also need to cut down on the dairy, I realise.

lavender, for stress and worry, and getting to sleep with anxiety, I am a big fan of mindfulness meditation. I have an app on my phone, and I am currently using meditations by Tara Brach. She has a lot of free stuff to download on her website though (google Tara Brach, if you are interested), and just asks for a donation. Insomnia has been one of my longer term issues, and that has helped.

BIWI · 20/01/2016 10:29

YesEinstein - I'd watch out with that tea then, as maltodextrin could be a problem Look for something without additives if you can

blacktea - if you're hungry, which you may well be to start with until you adapt, yes eat! This WOE isn't about deprivation. As long as you're eating low carb it won't be an issue.

Meant to also say, thank you for the pate recipes; I just stocked up with fish, and will try the mushroom ones too.

blackteaplease · 20/01/2016 10:39

That's a relief. Breastfeeding a little one through the night and running round after the other 2dc makes me ravenous.

I will just keep on as I am then.

CrownofStars · 20/01/2016 10:54

Ooh, I've just found this thread. Can I join you all?

By an amazing coincidence I started a low carb diet on Monday. I did it once before a few years ago and lost quite a lot of weight but life got in the way and the blubber has slowly crept back on. I'm 51, 5'1" and weigh 13st2lbs.

No idea how the spreadsheet works but I'm on an ipad and from the other comments I understand that this is problematic. If someone could add me that would be wonderful.

Off now to read everything because I suspect I'm probably doing it all wrong.

Gcalgske · 20/01/2016 10:57

I tend to find the first few days (2 weeks probably Hmm) I eat like crazy, sometimes through genuine hunger, sometimes through habit (I'm a big emotional eater) but then something clicks, I stop thinking about the next meal and I get this incredible feeling of freedom and exhilaration knowing that a BPC and few boiled eggs and veggies in butter could keep me going all day. I am no longer a slave to my appetite and it feels great to eat real tasty food until I am full and not worry about it. Long story short blacktea don't worry if you feel like you are overeating for a wee bit, your body will eventually click to the fact that the good food is here to stay and your apetite will drop. X

sos1993 · 20/01/2016 11:12

Good Morning!
I hope you don't mind if I re-join the bootcamp thread, (I registered last year and didn't do it). I would prefer not to register on weight loss thread. I'm on Day Three and determined to do it right this time. Love the support and the great recipes and meal plans.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/01/2016 11:40

Well that explains the increase in pain levels the more I have been drinking that. I am totalling intolerant of the nightshade plants and wheat. Thanks for that information BIWI will add it to my avoid list.

DiscoDancer · 20/01/2016 12:33

What's the best thing to have at nandos? I could eat all their halloumi but should throw some chicken in I guess!

Had two boiled eggs with Mayo for brekkie. Tin of tuna with Mayo for lunch with a babybel probably. Nandos for dinner!

blackteaplease · 20/01/2016 13:26

I have never been to nandos DiscoDancer but shouldn't you be having a salad or veg based side dish? You haven't listed any veg for today and you do need some carbs and fibre in your diet.

milkmilklemonade12 · 20/01/2016 13:33

Bulletproof coffee with coconut oil. Tis delicious!

Week 1 - 2016 New Year Low Carb Bootcamp - weigh in here!
BIWI · 20/01/2016 13:43

Disco dancer - I think they do nice salads at Nandos - so you could get your veg/salad that way?

Low carb headache has kicked in Sad

milkmilklemonade12 · 20/01/2016 14:05

Oh dear equiem Sad any paracetamol on you? Early night tonight maybe.

LexLoofah · 20/01/2016 14:47

hi romey sorry to hear you are struggling but glad you are here and posting

equiem oh no, drink even more water and up the salt

LCJump pate is lovely on celery instead of carrots, nice on cucumber too but tends to slide off more easily or wrapped in little gem or butter lettuce leaves

B - brie spread with butter, half large avo, 2 buttery scr eggs, two cups of tea (I know, I know but it is cold and we were out ... slaps wrist to save BIWI doing it)
L - was out, researched first, only one thing suitable without substituting BUT it was gorgeous: a platter of pork fillet terrine, bacon, belly pork, crackling, leaves, roast shallots, bit of chutney that undoubtedly had sugar in it in some for or other but just a smidge
D - will be slow cooker 5 spice pork ribs, roast celeriac chips and broccoli, bit of a pork-tastic day really

VagueIdeas · 20/01/2016 14:57

Nandos do a quarter or half chicken on the bone, plus a side salad. Even have extra virgin olive oil for dressing. All of the other side dishes are probably out.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 20/01/2016 15:25

I cant remember what i had, but i've def eaten at nandos on bc before Grin

I am so jealous of all of this gorgeous sounding food!! I have minimal shopping in now, but its a case of making boring food last til next week. I'll be having egg in a cup for dinner. Gonna make myself another cup of marmite in a mo too, im freezing!!

SquadGoals · 20/01/2016 15:27

Re Nandos, def quarter chicken and salad. Do UK Nandos do spinach as a side? We live in SA so go to Nandos or make homemade at least once a week.

Just weighed in, first change I've been able to in ages. 74.7kg - despite eating an absolute shit ton of brownies, burgers etc, I've lost 200g Grin

That's 10lbs down since Dec 4th, including 2 weeks off over Xmas/NY and a PMS blip last week.

As I'm doing weight training for the first time ever, I'm also going on how my clothes feel and measurements.

Breakfast today was scrambled eggs, dinner was seared tuna with half an avo. Tea will probably be steak and salad.

I do need to motivate myself to eat breakfast, I really hate eating for the first 3-4 hours after I wake up. Is it possible to re-order meals - ie have lunch at 12, then another meal at 4pm pre gym and then tea at 8pm?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 20/01/2016 15:44

Checking in!

B: Greek yoghurt
L: Greek salad (having a Greek day!)
D: not sure. Possibly venison sausages with swede mash. DH is out tonight so I may have something tuna-based instead because I love tuna and he doesn't.

2.25l of water consumed today. Couldn't weigh this morning as stayed at my sister's last night and she hasn't got scales. I was v good last night and my lovely friend made Caribbean beef stew, which did have some carrot in, but as he'd done his best to accommodate me doing low-carb plus my sister's lactose intolerance, so I thought it was a pretty good effort.

TomHaverford · 20/01/2016 16:10

Hi all,

Ive only just come back from holiday so am only starting today. Have eaten some cashew nuts though and just saw they are pretty high per 100g :/

Really hoping to stick to it as have to do something to lose my babyweight!
