Morning all!

Here's the spreadsheet

Hopefully we'll be able to shed at least one more of these before the end of our final week.

Week 10 - Low Carb Bootcamp - it's the final countdown!

The pork was delicious but the sauce wasn't great, looked a bit ropey so I blitzed it with the hand blender and added a sachet of coconut cream which thickened and enriched it to delicious effect. Squeeze of lime too, ended up serving over courgette noodles.

Hello! I was on holiday last week, started off on track but faded away as the week went on, mostly for convenience and fitting in. So I cut down on the fat so I wasn't having carbs plus fat and it reminded me how much I prefer this WOE. Genuinely, I missed it and did not enjoy the carby stuff I ate half as much.

So I deservedly put on 2.5 pounds but since then I seem to have lost it plus another pound since Monday! Really happy with that as I've had quite a few weeks where I've been 100% on track and not lost so feels like I was due a break.

WineCheeseSleep · 17/07/2015 21:40

And I will definitely be KOKO until the next boot camp!

Gcalgske · 17/07/2015 21:46

Good luck trash x

ShebaQueen · 17/07/2015 22:50

I haven't been posting but have been following the plan from the start. I've been a yoyo dieter for years and this has been the most successful woe for me. I was absolutely determined this time as I was starting to really worry about my health. I've lost 14 kilos so far (started 13 April) and I need to lose another 10 to get within the healthy BMI range. I lost a lot in the first couple of weeks, then got stuck in the dreaded 4-5 week period. Since then I've been losing steadily 0.5-1 kilo a week. I've only slipped up once when I ate a slice of cheesecake in week 6 and it made me feel so ill I haven't gone off plan since. I'm really grateful for the resources here, thanks BIWI and Sayra Flowers. I will be continuing with this woe for the rest of my life, moving to bootcamp lite when I hit my target weight (seems incredible, but I really think I can do it). I can fit into a size 16 for the first time since my 30s (I'm 51 now) and it makes me so happy Smile. This isn't meant to sound boasty, I hope it might reassure some of you who are struggling - I was a lost cause before bootcamp.

LexLoofah · 18/07/2015 06:32

Hello all, am back althogh a bit later than planned, was not v realistic about doing lchf and following bootcamp after international move. Sorry not read the last 2 weeks hope everyone is OK and shedding the lbs

I Kept the faith for some days others not so much, definitely makes a difference knowing one has to account for food on here and the support one gets. I know there is only a day left of BC but will KOKO until the next one.

Will get back on proper next week, still limited in the kitchen as don't have all my equipment yet, my plan to get out and shop was thwarted by DCs both being sick and DH is back in Cayman for a month so online shopping here I come!

One thing I noticed almost immediately after going off plan (and it really wasn't too far off plan) was how my joints ached, carbs must cause inflammation which is bad news all round so looking forward to feeling better next week.

billabye · 18/07/2015 10:26

I'm struggling this week. It's been my DD's birthday so there was a day of carby twattishness and now she's really poorly with a stomach bug. I've had very little sleep and have eaten more strawberries and dark choc than I should. I hopped on the scales this morning and was 3.5 lb up Sad
I will KOKO as best as I can....

Gcalgske · 18/07/2015 11:45

Congrats Sheba!

Welcome back lex, the return to soggy British weather + carbs would set my imflamation through the roof. Magnesium is good (a nice Epsom salts bath) really helps.

Bill hope the LO is better soon. X

Romeyroo · 18/07/2015 14:04

Hey, Lex, welcome backSmile. Lovely to 'see' you - and well done on getting the international move out of the way, I hope you get settled soon. Certainly you didn't come back for the weather, I put my heating on last night.

Sheba, that is amazing, well done. You don't sound boasty, when I started I absolutely needed to hear from the people who had done well and getting into a certain dress size is a big boost.

Billabye, I hope your DD feels better soon. A good part of that 3.5lb will be water, I think, so if you get back on track, it will go.

take care and KOKO everyoneFlowers

I've not been posting for the past few weeks because sadly I've fallen victim to the dreaded carby twattery. I'll admit that I've deliberately been eating a few extra carbs, but it's been gradually creeping up. It's time to take myself firmly in hand again, I think.

The reason for introducing more carbs is that as soon as I started low carbing I noticed I had a very nasty taste in my mouth. I thought it would go away as I got used to this WOE, but it didn't, despite drinking at least three litres of water each day. I put up with it for several weeks, but in the end I couldn't live with it and decided to introduce a few more carbs in the form of a slice of wholegrain bread at breakfast and a small portion of spuds, rice or pasta at dinner. It has solved the revolting taste in the mouth problem, it's completely gone away, but there's been a bit too much 'carb creep' recently.

Like Lex I've been getting joint pain again since going off plan - I noticed very quickly after starting low carbing that my joints were much less sore, and I haven't taken any painkillers at all since starting low carbing, which is amazing. I haven't had any headaches, either. So I know that this WOE definitely suits me health wise, and I'm very gradually losing weight. I just need to find the right balance in my diet.

LexLoofah · 18/07/2015 17:54

Thanks gcal a good soak sounds like a great idea and a nice no carb treat

romey I admit I thought about putting the heating on but my pride would not let me, determined to tough it out until it is actually autumn, otherwise if I use it now what will I put on when it is really cold iyswim? DCs complaining about cold bathroom particularly the loo seat, they have no idea what is in store later in the year do they ? Still happy to be back and I expect waiteose are happy too Smile

LexLoofah · 18/07/2015 17:55

Waitrose, of course that should read

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 18/07/2015 18:20

I'm still here as well but I haven't been posting because I haven't been loosing. I'm on track 97% of the time but the 3% (wine) is making me maintain for the last 2 months. At least I know I can. Still got 20lbs to shift but I can't seem to do it unless I don't drink 100% of the time.
The funny thing is, even though I'm the same weight/inches, more people comment on my loss than ever before. Very odd, maybe it's the summer clothes?
Think I'm going to find the water harder during 6 week holidays, have my little routine at work.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 18/07/2015 18:21

LOSING grrr

Gcalgske · 19/07/2015 00:10

Today has been a not hungry day.
B: BPC, Berroca
L: ham bone broth with butter
D: chicken curry with green pepper, leek, mushroom, courgettes, tomato and coconut oil/milk
2x square 85% choc (BC lite)

Lots of water with ACV

miffy49 · 19/07/2015 12:49

That nasty taste does normally go Drama as you get settled into ketosis. Having said that, you don't need to be in ketosis to lose weight on LC. Some sites say that ketosis is under 50gr carb but in practice most people need to drop to around 20gr.

Have you tried jiggling the carbs you are adding back in? When you go very LC you tend to cut out other food groups that can affect the joints. Obviously wheat goes but theres also the nightshade group (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, aubergine). Apart from aubergine the others in that group are also carby so tend to be limited. It might be worth looking at what you are adding back and maybe try one group at a time to see what you can get away with.

Not sure who it was who recommended the apple cider vinegar in water as a way to increase water consumption but they did me a favour. I have been trying it for just over a week and as a side benefit I have noticed quite a marked lessening of the pain in my hands. I looked it up and it seems its an old fashioned arthritis remedy so whoever had the idea thanks! Smile Flowers

BIWI · 19/07/2015 13:32

Drama if you had that odd taste all the time, it would suggest that your carbs were generally too low for you.

Definitely worth looking at you were eating, and seeing where you could have added more veg - or even carbier veg.

Dr Charles Clark, who wrote "The New High Protein Diet" advocated eating one slice of wholemeal bread and an orange every day - which makes his daily carb count around 60g, if I remember right. Perhaps you could introduce one slice of toast for breakfast and see if this helps you?

DramaAlpaca · 19/07/2015 20:42

miffy & BIWI thank you for the advice. I think I do need to keep jiggling the carbs one group at a time to see what's right for me, and I like the idea of increasing carbier veg because I really love veg - more than fruit, in fact. I've introduced toast for breakfast already & that is what has finally got rid of the odd taste. So what I think I'll do is keep on with that & experiment a bit more with veg. Thanks again, both of you Flowers

I'm going to get hold of some apple cider vinegar too. My fingers is where I get the arthritic pain most so I'm interested to give it a go.

Gcalgske · 19/07/2015 21:18

Be sure and get an unfiltered one, consensus seems to be that the helpful enzymes/proteins are best in an unfiltered vinegar.

Gcalgske · 19/07/2015 21:20

Food today:
Bpc, Berroca
Pork belly with crackling, cucumber
Chicken thighs x2 (skin on), courgettie with basil, cream, pecorino and garlic.
Lots of water with ACV
