Low-carb bootcamp

Week 9 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Eek! Only two weeks left!

Morning campers Smile

Here's the spreadsheet

So our last two weeks. This Bootcamp seems to have gone really quickly!

Having been in carby twatland for most of the last two weeks (aka my DB/SIL's fat-free, low cal home) I'm back on track and aiming to make these next two weeks as strict as I can. My personal strategy for this BC has been not to weigh at all - but to go by my clothes. I can tell by how my gym clothes are fitting that this BC has been a good one for me (overall), and I'm not going to let the last fortnight undo all this.

Anyway, I hope those of you weighing have a good result.

Today's food:
Bpc, peanut butter a la spoon
Pork belly fried with chilli and lemon
Pizza express for tea - tiny melanzane for starter and a huge chicken Caesar salad (no croutons)
Coffee with cream

I know, arm I just don't know what to eat, as wheat is carby, meat is gouty, and fat is not indicated either.

I just wish I didn't have to eat tbh, am tired of it.
Co codamol gives you constipation that is beyond ridiculous. Miserable times

But co codamol is too good to be wasted on sick people, I can we'll see why people would be addicted to it!

I was on a high dose codeine for nearly two year (chronic pain after childbirth trauma), trust me flax is your friend!!

Report
Hissy · 09/07/2015 00:40

I hear flax, but what do u do with it?

I have laxatives, I take them alongside the co codamol - but don't need to take them anymore as pain is gone (ish)

Gcalgske · 09/07/2015 06:55

I used to have it sprinkled on salads, in muffins, smoothies etc.

gcalgske which fauxlafel recipe do you use?

I've just realised that I've not signed on this week Blush Having a quick read through I see that we need some: Flowers for various reasons so here you go!

I made fathead pizza last night for mum and also some garlic "bread" with the dough. It was delicious Grin

These 10lbs. They are yummy, I normally add mustard seed and onion seed to them too (vague addiction to these spices).

Can I join you for the last two weeks please? Just started low carbing today and it would help to be surrounded by other low carbers so I can learn the ropes. I was thinking about waiting until the next full bootcamp starts but not sure when that will be. I've looked at the spreadsheet which has given me some pointers.

I may struggle for the first few days as I'm mid way through my food from last week's shop (e.g. no eggs or cream in the house and lots of diet 7up).

So far today I have had:

b: full fat yogurt with handful of strawberries (I think I shouldnt be eating fruit though?)

l: two chicken thighs (they were skinless, though), fried in butter and dried spices with a handful of fried mushrooms and wilted spinach, with about 3 tablespoons of creme fraiche added in.

Im not sure if I am meant to be carb counting? And if so how many carbs a day?

Looking forward to changing my way of life. I tend to be a 'clean' eater - very rarely eat processed food, but I've always struggled with my weight, even when Ive gone to SW or WW I've never managed more than 1.5stone loss, and I wonder if its the carbs - I didnt realise for e.g. that tomatoes are high carb and I use them as a base in so many of my meals.

Welcome Raisin - have a look at the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet linked to in the OP, there are lots of rules, tips, recipes and links.

Follow the rules as strictly as you can in the first couple of weeks (so no strawberries, you can re-introduce them later)

There's usually an interim thread between bootcamps for chat and support.

Hi All,

Work has been mental this week and the tube struck is not helping. hOwever have sts so all good - The last 10 days have been weird, have not changed anything re eating but all of a sudden I seem smaller and clothes are looser, this is good - think I am going try and stay away from the scales after we finish LCBC as it totally affects my mood for the day - and makes me all stressy xoxo

did someone mention constipation Wink. I had to use suppositories for a few days, then daily dulcolax for about a week, since then I have managed to keep things working with a combination of actimel and bullet proof coffee. At work they always prescribe senna along with codeine.

Another lb off and I'm ecstatic as i was really expecting to sts due to a mini whoosh last week, a nut obsession and two evenings of moderate gin consumption. I can actually do this. I had one day of decorating the hall for my youngests prom and i ran on coffee, brie and strawberries all day and ended up frying halloumi at 10pm. But at least i didn't go hungry.

Yesterday was
Large latte with cream and almond milk
Salad with bacon,chicken,avocado,brie.
Lasagne made with mince, aubergine and courgette 'pasta' sheets and 3 cheeses.
Snacks were almond bread with homemade mixed nut butter and butter

Beccus if you are bf absolutely go for bc lite, for fruit stick to berries good luck.

Also i want to make something bounty bar-esque. I had an idea late last night about mixing coconut with double cream then making them into litte balls or bars and dunking them in dark choc to coat. Has anyone done this? Do you think you could get away with no stevia in the coconut mix as really want to avoid that, my thinking is the dark choc would sweeten it enough. Would it be low carb enough?

Hi all, just back from immense carby twattishness in Rome and I'm reluctant to step on the scales!

B: COYO and strawberries
L: chicken salad, egg and avocado
D: Fathead pizza

BIWI when does the next BC begin?

BIWI · 10/07/2015 10:08

dita don't know which Actimel you're drinking, but be aware that it's quite carby stuff 10.5g carbs per serving in the original version

stone - do you mean something like this
It's nut free, gluten free and dairy free - the only problem is that they have included maple syrup into the coconut mix.You could use a date to sweeten it the mixture instead before rolling out into balls and dunking in chocolate.

I know, biwi and dita, I looked at Actimel for my IBS issues and live yogurts as well; even though I have a skin reaction to dairy, they looked quite carby to me, but it is a balance between that and finding something which works - I am still searching, but going to give the full BPCs with salted butter a go, a trip to H&b is on the cards this afternoon.

So, back home and am two pounds down! I know I was aiming to STS this BC but I am feeling like I am now beginning to like my body again and getting into an exercise frame of mind, so that can only be a good thing!

I notice some newbies so apologies for not saying hello properly. I am just addressing the chaos that is my house in return from (much needed) holidays with DC Grin

saranghae kind of but coated in a thin layer of dark choc like a bounty. Also if it had dark choc it would eliminate the need for either artificial sweetner or dates/maple syrup all of which I'm not comfortable with adding.

The best thing I found for my IBS was a probiotic supplement called Linex. I think they are Russian but they are available on Amazon.
I was very very ill whilst traveling in the former soviet bloc and at one point I thought I was dying, it was just severe IBS though! Doc put me on a drip and recommended I take one Linex tablet daily forever unless I was able to fix the symptoms by adjusting my diet. I feel 95% better LCing fortunately but they are worth a go if you don't want to compromise your LC diet with sweet actimel type drinks.

Just double checked and it is the 0% fat one, 3.3g carbs (so worth it for the benefits).
I have done it, I survived my 8 days in a row, so looking forward to this weekend off and not having to get up at 5am (bet I still wake up at 5am though).
