Week 9 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Eek! Only two weeks left!

Morning campers Smile

Here's the spreadsheet

So our last two weeks. This Bootcamp seems to have gone really quickly!

Having been in carby twatland for most of the last two weeks (aka my DB/SIL's fat-free, low cal home) I'm back on track and aiming to make these next two weeks as strict as I can. My personal strategy for this BC has been not to weigh at all - but to go by my clothes. I can tell by how my gym clothes are fitting that this BC has been a good one for me (overall), and I'm not going to let the last fortnight undo all this.

Anyway, I hope those of you weighing have a good result.

Just quickly place marking for later

miffy49 · 07/07/2015 12:43

Grin Biwi! Actually I did tell him as I wondered if it could be why the big jump in cholesterol since I stopped statins last year. He actually seemed impressed by my results and asked me a bit about how difficult it was to manage and what do you do about puddings! Maybe hes fancying trying it! Grin

I did come out with a script for statins as he did put up a good argument given my family history etc. I have done some reading, including the Kendrick book you recommended, but part of the problem with having the soddin FMS is that I don't retain info and my recall is very slow so its difficult to make a reasoned argument or actually hold up my end in any sort of debate. Fair dos though, he said that if they upset the FM in any way he was happy for me to stop them and just let him know so he could make a note on the files.

Lost a bit more weight this morning so that's 5lb in the last month. I can't believe its actually moving after all this time. I most hold the record for sheer, dogged KOKO! Grin

StoneFoxMama · 07/07/2015 16:49

I had a whoosh on Wednesday last week so not going to weigh till tomorrow but not expecting much due to last weeks success.

B coffee with cream and almond milk, almond bread with butter and natural peanut butter.
L bacon brie avocado watercress salad with hm dressing
S small leftover slice of feta asparagus tart, chicken salad with brie
Pud was strawberries and cream

I had a text from a friend that i had met for coffee a week ago, asking for help with her diet. she'd noticed me piling cream into my coffee and whilst she is living on soup and crackers I have lost a lot more weight so I'm hoping to bring her over to the dark side, we have steak! This woe makes me so happy.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 07/07/2015 17:03

Another 3 lbs off this week down to 168 lbs now Grin

CobbOnn · 07/07/2015 17:07

I'm going to have to bow out of boot camp. I've done 12 weeks and lost 21 pounds and enjoyed every fatty mouthful. I've just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant and already the queasiness had struck. I'm eating what my body is asking for. Lots of fruit and I'm sad to say, bread. The thought of fatty foods currently makes me feel quite ill. I'll be back in about a year to lose the next lot of baby weight. Koko x

ewanhoozami · 07/07/2015 17:10

Congratulations, Cobb Flowers hope the sickness eases very soon

billabye · 07/07/2015 17:54

Congratulations Cobb! I can understand you not being up for lchf just now. Have a Biscuit instead Grin

Kleptronic · 07/07/2015 18:03

I lost some weight, I lost some weight, happy days are here again, stall is over!!! 2lbs off. Fingers crossed it stays off.

I ditched the milk for cream so that must be what did it. Coffee consumption down to 3 cups a day. I cannot go lower than that!

BIWI · 07/07/2015 19:49

Congratulations Cobb! Flowers

hi all, thinking of ditching low calorie and going low carb. my big worry in this heat is what u r eating and drinking to stay cool. I am chowing down a ton of diet soft drink and sweetened ice coffee and banana smoothies. advice please

Gcalgske · 07/07/2015 21:08

I'm mostly drinking Fizzy water (nice infused with herbs or a few berries), Bulletproof coffee (you can have that iced), iced tea (with lemon balm it's pretty good) or water with apple cider vinegar.

BIWI · 07/07/2015 21:23

Fizzy water. Water.

No need to eat special food to stay cool though! Although salads with lots of oily dressing are a good start.

Sweetened coffee and banana smoothies will not help you - from a calorie or a carb point of view!

Hi hope you are all well, finally caught up with the threads!

Its lovely to hear about your weightloss experience miffy, well done! Grin Hopefully I can koko also and get to my goal weight!

Thank you stunt for the graphs on last weeks thread, really helped me to put this woe in perspective, i've slowly come to terms that I will have periods of time where I won't lose or put on weight and it's ok. Thanks for sharing your experience Smile!

Congratulations Cobb Flowers Smile

It's strange to think bootcamp is coming to end, where has the time gone..I've definitely learnt a lot, thank you for helping me out so much Flowers Flowers Flowers

Spagbol sauce with aubergine, 2pc dark chocolate, 2pcs watermelon.
2L water. Will try to drink another litre before bed.

Enjoy your evening!

Congratulations, Cobb, how lovely. Wishing you all the best Flowers

And well done to all the losers, some good losses here Star! Looking forward to catching up properly at the end of the week (not looking forward to weighing in, though I have been pretty much LC BC)

Thanks biwi for your kind words. I wanted to say this morning that I suddenly remembered salt - at home, I usually munch rock salt crystals now and then; and if my head feels fuzzy, I drink stock. Completely forgot all that - used up my migraine medicine I had brought and had to seek out a chemist in mid-day heat yesterday. Woke up this morning and remembered - salt!! I had added a small sachet of salt to my breakfast this morning, along with lots of water and fingers crossed, it will help, seems to be so far. Just wanted to say that in case anyone else has forgotten salt and is feeling headachey in the heat.

StuntNun · 08/07/2015 10:13

I was the same yesterday Romey I felt dizzy until I had some salted almonds and lots of water.

Congratulations Cobb. Fwiw I broadly stuck to LC while pregnant with DS4 but I did find I needed more carbs. Once the initial sickness is over you may find you can get back into it but in a more relaxed way so maybe still avoiding sugar and pasta but not worrying too much about the carbier fruits and veggies, rice and potatoes. One word of warning, when I got pregnant after being low carb my weight absolutely shot up in the first few weeks. I don't think there was anything wrong with that, I think it was a natural response, but it was a bit alarming at the time. After a few weeks it levelled out into what you would expect for normal pregnancy weight gain.

Wannabechic1 · 08/07/2015 19:53

Mind if I join in the last 2 weeks?
Doing a 2 week plan from a low carb book here in Germany.

Just had devilled eggs for the first time. Carrying 16 stone that will not go to my bottom, but lands just above it for a nice egg on legs (apple) shape.

My birthday this weekend and i'm quite upset that I wasn't more disciplined earlier in the year.

But I do want to look good this winter when its all ski pants and chic coats.
Now off to take before pics and measurements.

Hissy · 08/07/2015 20:05

I'm still here...

Still sts, but clothes feel looser.

Am in LC limbo tbh, not sure if I have gout, or a kind of arthritis. (Temporary)

So have stopped eating meat, having to go easy on saturated fats, hard to know what to do really. Think I just have to get balanced more than adopt a regime.

BIWI · 08/07/2015 20:27

Hissy - have you been to the doctor/been diagnosed with that?

OP posts:
billabye · 08/07/2015 20:58

Hi Wannabe, welcome Smile

B- boiled eggs, cuppa
L- roast beef, babybel, 2 meatballs and spoon tomato sauce (all quite random!), coyo
D- beef salad and hb eggs, mayo, butter, oily dressing
S- cuppa and sq dark choc

Pre bootcamp I would have been repulsed at spreading butter on hb eggs and slices of meat. Now I love it!!

Hissy · 08/07/2015 21:58

Well... Finger swelled up, they ran tests, no infection and a potential gout indication.

Then the foot, hips, and should've joined in, so more blood tests for suspected rheumatoid arthritis - both came back negative.

Finger and foot still stiff and swollen though, so potentially a temporary reactive arthritis due to viral infection.

Doc is interested to know what's what, so if finger still swollen, and foot, I'll go back for more tests to check Uric acid levels

I probably will go back, as I need to know. The protein is potentially the issue that inflamed it all...

Hissy · 08/07/2015 21:58

Shoulder

Gcalgske · 08/07/2015 23:07

Oooh hissy that sounds nasty. I know (online in other low carb groups) a few people who manage RA or gout with low carb, it's tricky but eating mostly fat (rather than protein) and low acid seemed to be the way they managed it. Certainly, from their experience, the grains etc involved with eating (most) carbs were very inflammatory. Maybe try to have a read of wheat belly? Seems to be helpful in this area.
