Welcome! From experience, the first couple of weeks of every Bootcamp sees very fast moving chat threads, and so if you have a question, it's easy for it to be missed.

So post anything you want to ask on this thread and I and the other experienced low carbers will try and keep and eye on it and give you our best answers.

Thank you! I'll persevere with plain yoghurt and grow to love it.
Great news about my fatty snacks as when DP is sat with his crisps and choc on a night, I'll be able to resist murdering him and have pork scratchings instead!

SayraT · 11/05/2015 18:31

Have a look at the veg carb counter on the spreadsheet Apply and go for veg that is below 3g carbs per 100g. Onions and peppers (except green ones) are more than 3g per 100g I think so not ideal.

Thats what I do MrsT If you are any good at making your own then that would be best but I can't seem to get them to work, other options might be parmesan or aubergine "crisps". Both are on the recipe thread I think.

Hello! i've got myself confused and can't find the meal planner info which I've definitely seen on a spreadsheet somewhere...I've not had a great day with bootcamp (it started off well at least) because I haven't really had time to properly plan what I was going to eat so could do with a helping hand. I've already had a slip up today where I gave in to sugar cravings mid afternoon. I feel pathetic that I can't even go a day without eating something I shouldn't. I want to get better organised for tomorrow so that the rest of bootcamp goes to plan! thanks :-)

LexLoofah · 11/05/2015 20:20

sheet

hangon there is a 3 day meal plan for ubercamp but no need for that just yet, try the Allowed Foods tab on the spreadsheet as that has breakfast ideas and product recommendations. There is a tab for economy recipes as well plus there's always the main bootcamp recipe thread [[
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/low_carb_bootcamp/1447493-Bootcamp-Recipe-Thread here]]

yes meal planning is definitely helpful

dillite · 11/05/2015 21:46

Thank you crabby. I had looked at the spreadsheet but didn't see the tabs at the bottom- I don't work with spreadsheets so am shit at navigating and using them. I've now found what I was looking for though!

Now, here's a slightly very TMI question- with no fruit, what do you do about constipation? I get terribly constipated when I don't have fruit every day. Laxatives? Or are there any other suggestions?

dillite · 11/05/2015 21:57

Are we allowed to have a latte? Or a cappuccino? From the coffee shops. No frapps obviously :(

Hangonaminutewillyou · 11/05/2015 22:16

Thanks so much Lex!

SayraT · 11/05/2015 22:26

dillite plenty of fat and water will keep things moving and some people like to use flaxseed though as crabby said this can cause people to stall.

Definitely no latte or cappuccino, far too much milk. Black coffee or coffee with cream are your best options for coffee.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 11/05/2015 22:26

dillite no latte, no cappuccino!

CrabbyTheCrabster · 11/05/2015 22:26

Cross posted Sayra!

dillite · 11/05/2015 22:43

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Not my latte's!!!!!! I can't give up on those! The whole point of one is that it doesn't taste of coffee. The world is well and truly over!

CrabbyTheCrabster · 11/05/2015 22:48

Grin Sorry to be the bearer of bad news dillite! Can you have a Brew instead?

What's the point of coffee if it doesn't taste like coffee? Grin

Patapouf · 11/05/2015 22:53

Is it possible to drink too much water?
Is it safe to drink 4+ litres a day?

HemanOrSheRa · 11/05/2015 23:08

dillite I've been LCing for a few weeks now and I thought I would get constipated because I ate loads of fruit before. I haven't Smile. If things have slowed down it's because I haven't drunk enough water. You should be eating loads of veg with this WOE so getting fibre that way.

dillite · 11/05/2015 23:23

Because then it isn't tea. And strong coffee gives me heart palpitations. So what I basically drink is coffee flavoured milk. With syrup.

I only drink herbal teas, but I am guessing I can't drink those either?

I didn't see nuts on the list, can I have those?

miffy49 · 11/05/2015 23:31

Herbal teas are fine as long as they aren't sweetened. Most are OK but you get the odd posh one that has sugar or honey so a quick check on the ingredients is advisable. Rooibos (Red Bush) is fine too.

Nuts aren't allowed until after week 2.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 11/05/2015 23:46

You could drink coffee flavoured cream instead?

Herbal teas are fine as long as they aren't sweetened, as Miffy said. There are always loads of suggestions on the chat threads for delicious herbal teas.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 11/05/2015 23:52

Someone just posted this...

To anyone who likes herbal tea, Taylor's of Harrogate do a great Kew Garden range with a fab Sweet Rhubarb tea that's nicer than any other herbal tea I've had (although yet to locate that Twinning's Buttermint tea I saw people posting about last BC).

BIWI · 12/05/2015 00:06

dillite have you read the rules?!

No nuts in the first two weeks of Bootcamp.

Herbal tea is fine.

I've had a very odd food day today Grin

Working in a very trendy café, with a back room where we were running some groups. Only half an hour between groups, and started at 9.30am and didn't finish until 10.00pm.

I had two boiled eggs for breakfast.
A charcuterie board for lunch (Parma ham, salami and chorizo with a few olives)
A cheese board for dinner (no crackers, and also swerved the chutney that was served with it)

no veg or salad or anything - a very quirky menu that had nothing easy for me to choose - and no time for me to dash out and get anything else.

4 cups of coffee which was a bit too much really - but had to keep myself awake (also had a really bad night's sleep last night too, in my defence).

Just drinking half a litre of water before bed; I didn't drink enough water either.

Off to Dublin tomorrow, and have no idea what will await me on the food front!

Dumdedumdedum · 12/05/2015 05:38

So, "trendy" = veg and salad free, BIWI?! That's a new one on me!

I am here to ask a very general question - I am likely to be over in England right in the middle of LCBC. I probably won't be in a position to cook for much of the time, so apart from breakfast, which will be yoghurt or cooked depending on where I am, I will probably be eating out or eating ready-made food. I would be really grateful for people's suggestions for good low carb stuff (I might have access to a microwave) that I can buy on the run, as it were. Co-op, M & S and Waitrose are the shops I will have easy access to. I can manage eating out in restaurants, I think, as long as I don't succumb to the lure of fresh bread, desserts and wine.. Any particularly good salads or dips to recommend, please?
Thanks a lot for any and all ideas!

FreiasBathtub · 12/05/2015 06:57

Another question. I'm currently breastfeeding my 6 month old dd (who is also weaning and a pretty decent eater). It never occurred to me that bootcamp might not be a good idea while feeding her but I definitely feel less 'milky' today, IYKWIM. Is there a way I can modify bootcamp so I don't affect my milk supply and keep my milk right for her?

BIWI · 12/05/2015 07:19

Freias - you would probably better doing Bootcamp Light. Which means you can add in nuts and seeds(in moderation) and some fruit like berries. And carbier veg.

BIWI · 12/05/2015 07:20

Dum - just a very eclectic mix of dishes. Plenty of veg/salad but all with carb elements or high carb veg!

dillite · 12/05/2015 07:52

BIWI, no I have not. I hadn't planned on joining in! So wasn't ready at all. I will ho through everything today/ tomorrow and then will be ready. Promise!

I love Taylor's rhubard tea! So refreshing.
