Welcome! From experience, the first couple of weeks of every Bootcamp sees very fast moving chat threads, and so if you have a question, it's easy for it to be missed.

So post anything you want to ask on this thread and I and the other experienced low carbers will try and keep and eye on it and give you our best answers.

EachandEveryone - is it this one (from IPD)?

500g minced lamb
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tsp dried oregano
1tsp dried cinnamon
2tblsp tomato puree
100ml water
1 large aubergine
3 eggs
300ml double cream
200g feta cheese

Fry off the lamb mince, drain excess fat, add the onion and garlic and fry till soft. Stir in the oregano, cinnamon, tomato puree & water and simmer gently for 20 minutes. Slice the aubergine(s), brush with oil and grill/fry/griddle until soft but not mushy. Layer the meat with the aubergine slices in an ovenproof dish.
Beat the eggs and cream together, add the crumbled feta, pour the mixture over the meat/aubergines and bake for 45 mins at 180 Gas 4

Pata yes it is. Double is fine, single is not.

Note to everyone
Supermarket websites are very useful for checking carb counts on things - they usually list the nutritional information including carbs per 100g.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 11/05/2015 12:21

No bread! Have you read the rules??

CrabbyTheCrabster · 11/05/2015 12:21

Sorry didn't read that properly...

CrabbyTheCrabster · 11/05/2015 12:23

Sheb flax seed is very low carb but some people find that it stalls them. I don't know why that would be but anecdotally that seems to be the case. What's the carb count of the almond milk?

threeicklepickles · 11/05/2015 12:24

Thank you sayra and patapouf

ewanhoozami · 11/05/2015 12:24

Yowsers that Co-Yo is expensive. Sounds good for me esp as I'm trying to be dairy-free so I might try making my own: from nomnompaleo

I'll let you know how it goes if I do!

PS the best coconut milk is from Lidl and only 75p a can Wink

TheCowThatLaughs · 11/05/2015 12:46

Just marking my place Smile

diggerdigsdogs · 11/05/2015 13:17

Eh and I both had massive sugar cravings mid arvo. Normal on day one?

diggerdigsdogs · 11/05/2015 13:17

Also thanks for the Mayo advice at top of thread. :)

ewanhoozami · 11/05/2015 13:43

Yep, totally normal, digger. Drink masses of water and ride it out.

Supplementing with Chromium Picolonate can help with sugar cravings if they don't resolve themselves after a while. But they usually do.

EachandEveryone · 11/05/2015 14:02

Coyo has £2 off if you buy two. I'm doing a shop on Ocado now.

diggerdigsdogs · 11/05/2015 14:14

Thanks Ewan. I no where near drank enough today.

m0gz · 11/05/2015 16:03

Homemade coleslaw is a staple food for me at the moment, is it OK for bootcamp (is half a carrot a day OK)? I make a big bowl every couple of days with half a white cabbage, one grated carrot, Hellman's mayo and grated cheese.

Alpro coconut yoghurt is meh and I can taste the sugar in it :( I have been wanting a good LC coconut yogurt for ages so I'm off to check out ocado Grin

BIWI · 11/05/2015 16:07

Obviously it depends on the quantities that you're using, m0gz - especially of the mayo - it could end up being quite carby.

I have a recipe (which is on the ubercamp recipes) which uses oil and vinegar, with a small amount of mayo added - that might be a lower carb count.

m0gz · 11/05/2015 16:32

Thanks biwi. I need to have a look at a homemade mayo as dh picked up the squeezy bottles the other day as they were on offer but they won't last long in this house!

I think we are going to need to find a bulk supplier of free range eggs as they are being consumed in large quantities daily already - boiled eggs, mini quiches etc should we have a daily egg limit or is it OK to continue as we are?

Oh and last question while I'm thinking of it, I've finally convinced dh to ditch the carbs but he hates all vegetables except for potatoes and sweetcorn Hmm Should I be forcing him to have something?

dillite · 11/05/2015 16:41

Where do I find the allowed veg list? And just foods in general.

dillite · 11/05/2015 16:44

Or is the food list the same as with Atkins?

TheHappyCamper · 11/05/2015 17:09

All the info on what to eat is on the spread sheet linked to at the top of the week 1 chat thread dillite.

m0gz I'm 99% sure you can scoff as many eggs as you like! I'm getting through about 20 per week at present!

CrabbyTheCrabster · 11/05/2015 17:09

Hi again dillite! Grin

Here is the Week 1 chat thread. The OP links to the Spreadsheet - there are tabs on there that have all the rules of bootcamp (designed to be easy to follow) and lists of allowed veg and carb counts. Have a browse.

If you're on an ipad/phone and can't open it, let me know and I'll cut and paste it here.

ApplySomePressure · 11/05/2015 17:41

Can you eat too much? Today I have eaten:
B: boiled egg and chicken leg
Snack: boiled egg
Lunch: chicken leg, chicken thigh and salad
Snack BlushBlush:chicken thigh, ham and soft cheese

SayraT · 11/05/2015 18:17

Apply yes you cna but I don't think what you've eaten is too much, you don't have enough veg in there by the look of things.

Chicken can be low fat, did you eat the skin and did you have butter or something with your eggs and mayo/oil with your salad?

If you ate because you were hungry then the amount you ate is fine though if you didn't add fat as above then you should. Fat is what helps keep us full and is essential for energy on this WOE.

MrsTatum1980 · 11/05/2015 18:19

Bear with me I'm still finding my feet and know that processed meats aren't great but am I allowed pepperoni chips? And am I ok with pork scratchings as a snack? Also, provided I'm sticking to the rules please reassure it doesn't matter that these are full of fat!
Also, I really hate plain natural and Greek yoghurt, are there any flavoured ones that I can have? (coconut is a no no as I don't like it)
Thank you

SayraT · 11/05/2015 18:23

MrsTatum pork scratchings are fine as a snack but try to go for ones with as few additional ingredients as possible (not Mr Porkys) I think that pepperoni crisps/chips are ok as an occasional thing but not all the time. I love them Grin

I think that all the flavoured yogurts are too high in sugar but you can add flavourings yourself like cinnamon, orange essence, rosewater, vanilla etc but just check the ingredients/carb content of the ones you choose.

ApplySomePressure · 11/05/2015 18:26

I had skin on,maybe I need to add some low carb Mayo?

Ok, more veg needed.could roasted peppers and onions be ok? With olive oil?
