We filled up the last thread and we still have 3 weeks to go until the next official BC so here is our new inbetween BC thread.

Link to previous thread

So, I was good yesterday and now all of my confessions are lost on the previous thread Grin but I am going to carry on with daily weighing and food recording so this morning I weighed 225 lbs.

Lidl normally has it unwrapped.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 30/04/2015 23:36

3g of carbohydrate per 100g is the magic number - when you're checking labels, if it's under 3g per 100g ( therefore 3%) carbs then fill yer boots. If it's around 3% then proceed with caution and eat in moderation. More than 4% then keep it as an occasional thing/don't eat it on bootcamp.

That way, you don't have to faff around with carbs per portion etc.

Romeyroo · 01/05/2015 05:49

plum, I have tried to cut down on caffeine by replacing one of my three cups with decaf; I also have a vast collection of herbal teas. So coffee early morning and after lunch now. Occasionally, I still have three if I have been up since the crack of dawn, as I have non-typical sleep patterns and I use this to manage workload/looking after DC. But if this is becoming a daily habit, I try and cut back to two again. I try to drink way more than 2l water though, as caffeine dehydrates.

That is not saying three cups of coffee is fine, not sure what the expert advice is, but what works for me given my life. If at all possible, I drink my coffee either before DC wake up, or with my laptop in a coffee shop - it is time for me as well then.

Dumdedumdedum · 01/05/2015 07:19

Hello, everyone! For the last three days, I have gone off plan and have gained 2lbs again. We will be celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary on Monday, so I have decided to start again properly on Tuesday. In the meantime, I have bought a vegetable spiralizer and will be experimenting with courgettes and celeriac over the week-end. (Gosh, what an exciting life I lead Grin) I don't have the right attachments for blitzing cauliflower to make rice, so I suppose I'd better getting going with the grater! Mind you, the Faux cauliflower mash in Neris and India's Idiot-Proof Diet book is deeelish, so I might just stick with steaming!
Wishing everyone in the UK a lovely Bank Holiday week-end.

nappyaddict · 01/05/2015 08:04

crabby so if it is exactly 3g per 100g I can eat as much as I want? But if it's 3.2g per 100g (like my yoghurt) I should watch how much I have?

BIWI · 01/05/2015 08:10

nappy
It's only .2% more - I really don't think that makes much difference!

CrabbyTheCrabster · 01/05/2015 08:54

nappy 3.2 would count as 'around 3%' so it's fine but don't gorge yourself on it (like eating a litre of it).

So, expressing carbs per 100g as a %...

0-2% = very low carb, eat as much as you like without worrying about the carbs.
2-3% = low carb, perfect for this way of eating and you can eat plenty of it.
3-4% = still low carb but creeping up now, so eat in moderation.
5% and up = careful now! (channelling Father Ted there) In BC light small amounts of slightly carbier veg (eg 1 carrot in a whole chilli or bolognese or something) is ok, but best to stick to the allowed list as much as possible.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 01/05/2015 08:55

BIWI is that about right?

HemanOrSheRa · 01/05/2015 09:47

Whooo Hoooo! I had my first 'Blimey, you look well, have you lost weight?' last night. Yippeee! Grin

My new fav breakfast is mushrooms fried in butter or garlic butter and just when they are cooked but there are still lots of buttery juices, melting in a handful of grated cheddar. Makes a yummy side dish too.

plumstone · 01/05/2015 10:13

Thanks Romeyroo, Had two coffees and half litre of water this morning - now have three 500ml bottles of water on the desk, they will be finished by the time I leave. Then a camomile tea and another half litre of water before going to bed - Damn my Fridays are exciting Grin

Can I just say I am sleeping so soundly doing this WOE. I am lucky that I usually sleep well 10pm-6am 6 nights out of 7, with maybe a couple of wakes to go to the loo but the last few nights - really dead to the world. Woke thinking my bladder was going to explode but bright eyed and sparkly. Feeling great!!!

Gcalgske · 01/05/2015 10:33

Ahhhh! My dd (2.5yo) has to reduce her water consumption (diabetes been ruled out, Dr thinks it's a habit but peeing through a nappy in an hour) I'm having to go into the utility room and close the door to drink! Brew

clare8allthepies · 01/05/2015 11:08

Hello! Can I join you? Can't wait for bootcamp to start on the 11th as we've booked a trip to center parcs for half term which means a swimming costume for the first time in a few years Blush

Have been feeling pretty awful for the last couple of days but am like a different person now I'm on day 5 so hopefully the 'carb flu' is over!

Have done this twice before and know it works for me, it's the only diet that does (and I've done them all!) Grin

DramaAlpaca · 01/05/2015 11:16

Great news Heman!! What a lovely confidence boost Smile

Patapouf · 01/05/2015 11:19

Is swede allowed in BC? And herbal/fruit teas? I know we can't have fruit but I can't find any carb info on the tea packets!

I've been cutting down massively on carbs over the last week in an attempt to prepare myself for bootcamp. I'm so addicted to sugar I'm actually quite nervous about the prospect of going cold turkey.

StuntNun · 01/05/2015 12:14

The carbohydrate percentages on packets are only a guideline, especially with veg, it isn't an exact figure as it will vary at different times of the year, between varieties etc. You need to use a bit of common sense as well, for example mustard is 13g carbs per 100g but you're never going to eat 100g mustard so putting a teaspoon into your salad dressing is fine. Whereas carrots are 8g carbs per 100g and the carbs in a portion are quite high. I like those ready prepared meats the supermarkets sell where you get Hunters Chicken or pork belly in apple sauce and for a lot of those you can drastically cut the carb count by not adding the sauce packet (which is invariably sickly sweet anyway) and up the fat content by adding a slab bit of butter. Don't get me wrong, the Bootcamp rules are crucial to success on this Way of Eating, but it's important to understand the reasons for the rules so that you can make the best food choices.

TheHappyCamper · 01/05/2015 12:35

Welcome Claire (you need a serious name change!). It's good to have a goal. Day 5 was when I started feeling better as well.

Henman - how fantastic! How much have you lost?

Stunt - I did the same with some 'sticky' ribs last week. The carb count looked quite high on the face of it, but I scraped ~90% of the BBQ sauce off, and they were still delicious. My caesar dressing also has 6.2g/100ml, but I only have ~20ml so about 1.2g per serving.

I just made my first ever Eggs Benedict and it was amazing. I had to share a picture with you Smile. The kitchen looks like a bomb site though Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 01/05/2015 13:52

Ooh the eggs benedict looks yummy TheHappyCamper Smile.

I've lost about 9lbs in just over 3 weeks. But my body is doing that weird thing of looking trimmer without a loss on the scales. Apparently it's showing in my face. Which is good Smile I have a round face anyway so any pudge makes me look fat. I did think I could see a jaw line emerging but thought I was deluding myself. But it's true!

However, I am currently looking like a frazzled old hag, sat in my car, sulking while eating pork scratchings Blush. I've had a very 'trying' morning at work. And it's not over yet. Aarrrggghhh!

Romeyroo · 01/05/2015 14:53

I've had my two coffees as well, plum, and very nice they were too. water and camomile tea sounds good; you have reminded me I need to stock up on the latter!

LexLoofah · 01/05/2015 15:05

Romey re: checking your hunger levels I found that too, have started to eat by my tummy rather than my watch, the difference is notable.

pata yes fruit teas they are fine so long as not sweetened like that lift lemon tea stuff, herbal tea bags are fine.

Patapouf · 01/05/2015 16:15

Excellent, I'll be having nice teas as a treat then. I know that BC will help me break my physical addiction to sugar but I don't know how I'm going to overcome my emotional/psychological dependence on treats. Hoping that one will follow the other Smile

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 01/05/2015 16:52

Good, normal bit on LC on radio 2 with Jonathan Ross right now. More of a version of lchf but JR obviously supportive of it, nice to hear a bit of positivity in an interview.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 01/05/2015 17:04

I'm full to bursting from my fish pie :) very chuffed with my last two days tea - have put them together once prepped myself, which is a big change. dh is usually fully in charge of food here.

I'm having a bit of a foodie moment though, and just want to try making new things and actually doing them myself. Sat at my little old lady stool in the kitchen Grin

Really struggling with my water at the mo, which is weird as i was drinking about 6l a day at one point?

nappyaddict · 01/05/2015 17:57

BIWI i was eating about 250g of the yoghurt for my breakfast which is 8g carbs for that size portion but have been limiting it to 100g as was worried it was too many carbs all in one go. does that mean I can go back to eating the 250g portion without feeling bad?

LexLoofah · 01/05/2015 18:30

b - ff greek yog, slosh of cream, blueberries, flax, almonds (BC Light)
l - chicken drumstick & skin, cheese, leaves drenched in hm mayo, radish, cucumber, olives, celery
d - will be cabbage and bacon fried in butter - this head of cabbage will just not die, it is the same one we have been eating for 2 weeks, I kid you not it was the size of a bowling ball!

have a good weekend all

clare8allthepies · 01/05/2015 18:53

Just had a lovely Friday night treat dinner of chicken curry, saag paneer and raita all for about 15g carbs!
