Morning all my lovely campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

and don't forget the Weight Tracker if you prefer to keep things private.

Hopefully the dreaded weeks 3 and 4 are well behind us, and we can now get on with the process of shedding more fat Grin

Here's to another good week, and I hope that the scales were kind to you this morning

Dinner - roast chicken, roast swede in goosed fat, cauli and broccoli cheese

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 17/02/2015 19:32

Whoever asked, yes feeling better today. But have been running my blood sugar high, but not with sugary foods unlike in the past. Just 200g of salted peanuts.

B: 2 eggs scrambled in butter 2x coffee
L: 200g peanuts, 3 bacon covered sausages
Coffee and the cream from my mother's scone whilst out for coffee she is cream intollerant, I didn't want the scone. so we both win Grin
Tea: 5 mini baby bels of various flavours.

Doing ok on the water front - nearly at 3 ltr mark. There is some left over duck love defrosting the freezer night for mystery/random foods to be picked later. Will see if I cba to go get some or if i just try to sleep

Fatstacks · 17/02/2015 19:46

I need to know about Jerky!

Am I safe with it? I'm starving and trying to cut down on yoghurt Sad

(BTW thanks to Ehric for the water tip I managed 2.5 for first time)

DrDiva · 17/02/2015 19:52

Whoa whoa whoa, back up!

There are different flavours of babybels??!!

SayraT · 17/02/2015 19:54

Yes DrDiva I was shocked too! There are yellow ones, green ones, purple ones and the usual red I think.

I think cheddar, edam, gouda and something else.

MontserratCaballe · 17/02/2015 19:56

Diva, yes, I quite like the goat and emmenthal ones, but the gouda and cheddar are a bit rank.

12 pancakes made and not a crumb passed my lips. Having a solitary glass of red before saying goodbye to the old girl for 6.5 weeks. That should give the diet another kick start, I hope.

Well done to all those keeping on Smile

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 17/02/2015 20:06

Some are most definitely nicer than others.

LexLoofah · 17/02/2015 20:11

fatstacks re: jerky, you will need to check the package as lots have sugar added or other flavourings like fruit that can make them over the carb limit. Lots of the ones I see are honey chipolte or pineapple chilli so obvs out.

DH and I made our own a few weeks ago having finally found a recipe that did not include honey, molasses and/or sugar. Very nice and filling too. We did on the BBQ but you could do in a low oven or dehydrator as essentially you are aiming to dry out rather than cook.

LexLoofah · 17/02/2015 20:13

beyond re: roast swede do you boil first like potatoes ? sounds nice, only had it mashed and oven chipped so far

Fatstacks · 17/02/2015 20:26

Thanks Lexy I had to goggle but the additives are salt, pepper and cayenne, mustard and sugar with carbs at 2g per 100g.

Emergency snack so I'll only defrost half Grin

CharlieSierra · 17/02/2015 20:26

Meatzza! GrinGrinGrin

trashcanjunkie · 17/02/2015 20:34

Well, I only wanted half of my lunch today Shock and I ended up leaving the last bit of my dinner too! I've been really conscious of my fat intake today.

It's becoming much clearer what fat:protein:carbs actually looks like on my plate. For example, dinner today was roast chicken, courgette and green salad. Now, in the old life, I would have had a full half of the breast, plus some pickings from the rest of the chicken, and the trimmings would be nearly falling off the side of the plate.

Today, from a small free range chicken, I took 2/3 of a breast portion (plus skin) and didn't manage to finish it. With it I ate half a sliced courgette that had been sautéed in the juices from the roasting tin and a nob of butter, and a small serving of dressed green salad, which translates as two or three leaves of little gem, some cucumber and a few radish slathered in oil and vinegar. Oh, and of course a huge blob of mayonnaise.

I'm still on my second ltr of water but I know I've had over a litre in hot drinks today, so I'm on target for a second 'perfect' day

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 17/02/2015 20:35

Lex - either, depending on how long you want it cooked in :)

I have smokey bacon flavour pork scratchings for my little treat. And a bag of macadamias. Just about to tuck into a piece of 90% choc. Did someone say you can grt higher than that?

trashcanjunkie · 17/02/2015 20:38

Ha ha monserrat I too made twelve pancakes, and watched my little darlings gits scoff the lot happily...

Oh, and I have something to shamelessly declare.... I used a mix!!!

Why? Because it cost a quid, and I had no flour, and yes I have had weevils in my flour before, and I have made shite mix at home before, and because it's easier.

So there Grin call me a dirty bitch all you like I don't care

And the ds loved them....

trashcanjunkie · 17/02/2015 20:40

Having just read that back, I must point out my mix rant was not aimed at you monserrat Blush it was at the judgy bastard on AIBU....

trashcanjunkie · 17/02/2015 20:41

Oh bugger, and I've spelled your name wrong

Romeyroo · 17/02/2015 20:41

Yes, Beyond, I had 100% chocolate, it was made for melting as drinking chocolate though but I did try it for eating.
I have discovered cocoa nibs too - yum - like very dark chocolate but crunchy. To be used sparinglyGrin

Mrsstevejones · 17/02/2015 20:50

So i c*cked up today, i seem intend on making my life hard. I had lunch at a soft play place and the chicken fillet was a breaded/ battered processed rubbish but i ate it anyway. Then had a nice dinner, chicken quarter with spicy cauli rice - loads of fat, coconut oil and chicken juices.

But then..... ate the last 6 huge choc truffles i made, then loads of cheese with salad cream (about 1 tbsp) and ham. I wasnt even hungry just knackered so in bed now and will be sleeping after holby. Hopefully tom will be better.

I am really uurrgghhh today and i have no idea why, poor hubby thinks he has done something wrong!

MontserratCaballe · 17/02/2015 20:55

Trash, you are funny. I don't think the mix matters so long as they have Nutella on. Glad they went down well.

Charlie Sierra, I love meatzza. It's one of my favourite low carb treats. Dh not keen though so it's a treat for when he is out.
Have a lovely fish pie in oven topped with swede mash. So yum. Whoever suggested the chilli is a genius.

DrDiva · 17/02/2015 20:57

Definitely going to check it those babybels. I wonder if they do a selection bag?...

As for pancake day, I solved the indulgence problem by making this deliciousness with LC pancakes. Oh my!

Gcalgske · 17/02/2015 20:58

Dinner: pan roast chicken breast with a salad of mozzarella, avocado, tomato, shallots, basil, cucumber and mixed leaves with a red wine vinegar/ olive oil dressing.
Really really tried with the water today (3l) but spent most of the day in the loo. Thinking I might need to go back on meds. :/

Birdinacage · 17/02/2015 20:58

I made normal pancakes for everyone else and some using a ground almond based recipe for me so I could join in. The recipe said it would make 3 but I got 6 little ones out of it and could only manage 3 of them. I had them with some strawberries and whipped cream so in total it was 8 carbs. I preferred them to the cream cheese pancakes for flavour but they come out like american style thick pancakes not flat roll-able/stuff-able ones so you have to put stuff on them not in them Grin.

Gcalgske · 17/02/2015 21:00

Waitrose have 100% choc, willies chocolate. It's good to cook with. Low carb chocolate torte is amazing but not for BC.

almahart · 17/02/2015 21:01

I'm really flagging at the moment. Am putting weight on again. Am not cheating, but am snacking. I wonder if this is like week 3 usually is, cos that was no prob for me. I think I might go back to strict bootcamp for a bit

BIWI · 17/02/2015 21:02

Right you lot.

You have signed up to Bootcamp. It's not easy. It's not designed to be easy (although it's designed to be easy to follow - there is a difference!)

We have only just started week 5.

I have repeatedly warned that this isn't a very forgiving WOE. You need to stick to the rules, and be very strict about what you're eating and drinking.

Why would I bother to tell you that if there was no point to it?!

You can't cheat when you're low carbing to lose weight. It simply won't work. So don't be surprised if you're cheating and then you aren't losing weight.

If you can totally, 100% guarantee that you're following the rules, and you're still not losing weight, and you're not in weeks 3 or 4 (but bear in mind that it can also sometimes extend to week 5), then maybe we need to consider some different strategies.

Things to consider if it's not working for you:

  • make sure that you really are eating a high fat diet, and make sure you're drinking enough water
  • dairy - this is the key issue for many of us. Try cutting out dairy for a few days and see what happens
  • being really strict about carbs; although we don't count them on Bootcamp, it's often the case that people have no idea about how many carbs vegetables actually have - use the vegetable counter on the spreadsheet, and weigh/count your veg/salad for a few days to make sure you're really keeping them under control
  • make sure your carbs are coming mainly from veg/salad; look at everything you're eating, and see where carbs might be coming into play - e.g. mayonnaise, pre-prepared salad dressings, processed meats, etc
  • try doing ubercamp for three days - this is a strict low carb/no dairy plan
  • if you're having a particularly stressful time, are having trouble sleeping (either off your own bat or because you have some of those pesky small children), or if you're on some form of medication - you need to accept that this will have an impact on your weight
  • stop weighing daily and stressing about your weight - everyone's weight fluctuates on a daily basis. This is entirely natural. If a daily increase sends you into a panic, then only weigh weekly. Consider not weighing at all, but using measurements, or an item of clothing, so that you can see your progress
  • and finally, consider if low carbing is for you. Some people simply can't stick with it because it's too strict. For some people it doesn't seem to work. If you're convinced that it's not for you, and you've tried everything, then perhaps it's time to accept that you need to try something else? I hope that this won't be the case - but that's from a purely personal perspective. I wouldn't wish the gnawing hunger on anyone that comes from following a low calorie diet!

But please know - whatever your situation - there are many of us here who will try to help you, support you and comfort you through the process. We know it isn't easy.

Frankly, if it was easy, I'd be a bloody millionaire by now! Grin

Flowers to you all
