sayra think the horses have actually bolted and taken the wagon far away!! Grin
'all of a sudden' I've bloated like a puffer fish and an enormous balloon has attached itself to my front...oh wait, that's actually my stomach...
Yes that is a good plan miffy wait til the glycogen quite literally 'pisses off' before weighing!
Had sort of a bootcamp day...with some...err...emotional eating errors at the back end of it...Blush
I know this works. I know I can do it. Just got to get a one-way ticket out of twatsville Arizona!

ChesterDrawers · 01/01/2015 12:56

Another one looking for the wagon here. Was doing ok, most days two out of three meals were LC. But in the last few days I completely gave up on that idea and have had all manner of things I wouldn't normally eat. Yesterday was terrible and as a result I feel terrible today hungover so am back on it with a vengeance. This is helped by the fact that I go on holiday in 9 days - yikes!

Going to post my food, as I find that helps. Hope no one minds.

Brunch: two sausages, two rashers of bacon, two eggs scrambled in butter, mushrooms, two paracetamol Grin
Aftenoon: BPC if hungry
Dinner: belly pork, mashed swede with butter, something leeky

DH and I have decided to run another half marathon later this year bloody mojitos and I'm wondering if this will be possible while LCing. I do shorter runs now fine but haven't attempted more than 10k since LCing.

Chester - get hold of "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance" by Drs Volek and Phinney HERE

This will explain not only that you will be able to do it, but that you also might be able to peform better when you're low carbing.

I have another family Christmas to endure enjoy this weekend, and then off to Vietnam (work) on Sunday for a week, so goodness only knows what I'll be eating over the next few days! I know, for sure, that I'm going nowhere near the scales until 19/1!

Romeyroo · 02/01/2015 19:57

Wow at Vietnam; sounds amazing. Have you been before Biwi?

I am back to low carbing after the deviation on Monday. I am really surprised the effect even a modest increase in carbs had. I know there was emotional exhaustion but it has taken till today to feel okay again. In fact, I am staying with dsis who, bless her, is not only catering to my way of eating but has listened to me prattle on about it. She is very health conscious though and open to the idea that food influences wellbeing. So she has got me back into ketosis by being so supportive, which is lovely.

Weight loss has stalled though, in fact according to her scales I am a pound up over Christmas. hoping that boot camp and more exercise gets me moving downwards again.

Happy 2015 to everyoneSmile

SayraT · 02/01/2015 20:50

Finally back in my own house, so glad to be in the peace and quiet!

Cannot wait to get back on track, I have decided that I am going to have some LC related aims for this year.

  1. Get back on the wagon and start LCing properly again.
  1. Meal plan and also write the new recipes I try in a diary on the day I try them and * on the calendar anything particularly good so I can look back in the diary to find the recipe.
  1. Take pictures of all the new things I try and when I have enough I'm going to make myself a LC recipe book full of things I like with pictures next to all the recipes Smile
  1. Start by trying everything on the recipe thread.

Hello.

BIWI, Vietnam sounds amazing! Going for work sounds even more amazing. I used to travel a lot for work but never went anywhere exotic. Hope it's a good trip.

Okay, so I've just finished day 2 of this woe. The two days before I upped my water intake. Didn't manage 3 ltrs but drank a lot more than I usually do.

I'm feeling a bit odd, not sure really how, but a bit miserable but also determined to do this.

I haven't got that organised with getting stuff in, but have managed, I think. I signed up to MY fitnessPal and will record what I eat, but are there any recommended goals to set for the fat, carbs, protein etc numbers? Or can I just ignore those?

I was wondering what you all might recommend for:
Hot drinks? Don't really like coffee. I have some tea but only 1 or two cups a day. I'm going off tea, so are there any other options?

Evening, after meal snacks? I'm hoping these munchies will ease, but any recommendations for snack ideas?

Many thanks again, and apologies for starting now and not waiting, but I kept thinking and thinking about it and the 1st made me feel like I need to just get on, iykwim?

Xxx

CharlieSierra · 03/01/2015 09:25

Well I plucked up the courage to get on the scales - 1.5lb down since the end of BC, so I must have pretty much maintained over Christmas. I am so relieved to be back! Friends round for dinner tonight, so I can stick to the plan, I'm looking for ideas for pudding if anyone has any recommendations?

Newbie the cravings should pass soon, and any weird feelings. You shouldn't snack really, you are trying to get away from all of that, but if you are actually hungry you can eat anything which is on the list. Could you post up your menus and someone wise will tell you if they look right? Re drinks, I find I'm drinking more flavoured teas, my favourite is Liptons gingerbread green tea, which actually tastes almost as good as it smells.

prettybird · 03/01/2015 10:52

CharlieSierra - have a look for the chocolate pots recipe in the Boot Camp recipe thread.

Just dark chocolate, egg, a wee bit of milk (infused with cardamom - probably optional) and the zest and juice of an orange (divided amongst 8, so not too many carbs). Very easy to make, look very sophisticated (I serve them in wee espresso cups but ramekins would be ok) and taste yummy. Smile

SayraT · 03/01/2015 11:02

Here is a new page for the spreadsheet with all the recipes (I think) from the recipe thread organised into breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, sides.

This might give you some ideas, things marked * are on the recipe thread so you can easily search the thread to find the recipe without having to read the whole thing.

prettybird · 03/01/2015 11:28

Fantastic work SayraT - that's a fantastic resource which will make Boot Camp menu planning a joy to do. Lots of inspiration. Smile

Romeyroo · 03/01/2015 11:45

That is excellent SayraT, thank you; it looks really inspiring. My New Year plan is to move the DC to a lower carb diet as well (holiday experience has shown a positive improvement in DC2 behaviour), so fantastic to have lots of ideas Flowers. I ordered a spiraliser too.

Newbie, I just started one day mid boot camp last time and found it actually took me about a fortnight to feel better. But my carb deviation this week really showed me that carbs have a negative impact on me; it triggered carb cravings and feeling ill for about two days and what I had carbwise was minimal to what I used to have

I tend to drink sparkling water and some herbal teas (I don't like the fruit ones). Really keen to try the gingerbread one, but not been able to find it yet. I probably do still drink too much coffee, but that will be something to address in boot camp.

Romeyroo · 03/01/2015 11:47

Charlie meant to also say well done on maintaining!

BestIsWest · 03/01/2015 11:51

I've got rid of 2 of the 6 lbs gained over Christmas so that is a start. Peeing like Nothing on earth but have come down with a really nasty chesty cold and I'm craving toast. Nothing but toast. Help.

readyforno2 · 03/01/2015 14:38

SayraT. That's brilliant.
I've well and truly fallen off the wagon over Christmas.
Back on it on Monday though.. Can't wait!

SayraT · 03/01/2015 16:17

If anyone has any other suggestions (doesn't need to be on the recipe thread) for meal ideas then let me know and I will add them.

The aim was that it would make meal planning easier for us all and that for new LCers they could look at realise that actually there are far more options than you might think when you are starting out.

I'm back on the wagons properly today and I am going to start logging my meals again.

B: BPC, egg (x2) in a cup
L: Chicken "pizza" with mushrooms
D: Corned beef hash
S: Babybel, spoon of cashew butter

I have also meal planned and shopped for the whole week Grin

ClashCityRocker · 03/01/2015 17:42

Another one back on it Monday.

BestIsWest · 03/01/2015 17:47

Well it seems that a chunk of Boursin is a surprisingly good substitute for toast.

yongnian · 03/01/2015 19:07

Oo that is great sayra thanks!

SayraT · 03/01/2015 19:11

I'm busy working my way through the things on the list and as I make them I will add the carb counts as well.

best do you mean you wanted toast and changed your mind and ate boursin (the cheese?!) instead or that you put butter on boursin instead of toast!

BestIsWest · 03/01/2015 20:06

Ooh Sayra I never thought of putting butter on the Boursin! Buttered cheese. Now there's a thought. Grin

SayraT · 03/01/2015 20:07

I have once put butter on slices of cheddar, it was yummy Grin

CharlieSierra · 04/01/2015 09:46

Syra butter and marmite on a slice of cheddar is the only way to go Smile

Wombat22 · 04/01/2015 10:18

Hello all. I'm jumping back on tomorrow. Just making myself some mayo, brocolli soup and a batch of beef curry for lunches through the week. I'm starting early as I didn't fare well on the last bc. Hope it's ok to post here until the new thread starts. Weighing in tomorrow Blush Good luck everyone.

Wombat22 · 04/01/2015 10:19

Should say that I'm starting early because i've been off it too long already Grin
